Chapter 2:
During the rest of the journey with Toriel, though I did meet more friendly faces such as the Whimsun, the Vegetoids, and oddballs like Migosp and Loox, I couldn't get that image out of my head... the one that was from the voice that spoke to me. I didn't dare say anything to Toriel, however. I had a feeling that only bad things would happen if I told her anything about what I saw.
"You couldn't be anymore right if you tried," the voice said, me stopping in place just as Toriel led me to a large dead tree that was just outside of her house, me then sighing as she looked at me in confusion. "There is, however, a couple things you'll need to get used to. When you go to the rest of the Underground, you'll see what I mean. And I am dead serious when I say don't kill anyone. Or that image will be coming for you with a bloodied knife in hand," the voice said, me sweating a bit and Toriel looking at me in worry.
"My child, is something the matter with you? The Ruins aren't really that hot, so why are you sweating?" Toriel asked me as I looked at her and looked at the tree.
"N-Nothing... I just got a bit of a flashback... of the orphanage," I said, needing to make a bold lie to appease both her and the voice in my head.
"I see... fret not, Frisk. There are very few instances Underground of houses going up in smoke, mainly because we cook our food with fire magic instead. Though we do have gas stoves, we only use them if we feel like cooking the food at a slower pace," Toriel said, me sighing at that and smiling as she then led me to the house and I then had to bring up the question.
"Hey, Toriel?... What's the rest of the Underground like?... And how many were able to meet the king?" I asked, Toriel sighing at that.
"From what I've heard, mostly from a friend, only one human actually made it to Asgore's throne... and Asgore killed her in a fight to the death..." Toriel said, me frowning at that.
"And who is this friend?" I asked, her shaking her head at that.
"Unfortunately, I only know them as someone who tells jokes through the door that leads to the rest of the Underground... I don't even know their name, but they did promise something that I asked of them. If any human were to come through the door, keep an eye on them and protect them, no matter who it may be... and that was just a little bit before the 7th human fell down here, her being the only one up until that point to make it to Asgore... I'm sure that my friend will keep watch over you as they did to her," Toriel said, me smirking at that.
"Thanks, Toriel... I fear that this may be where we part ways for now... and a part of me doesn't really want to... you're very nice and sweet... but if the king wants to free everyone down here, I'll help him out, while staying alive in the process. I promise to keep in touch," I said, me then giving her a hug and a small kiss on the cheek, it being very furry and me getting a little bit of hair in my mouth, but I didn't care, Toriel hugged me back gently and I smiled at her.
"If you can pull this off, I will be forever grateful, my child... farewell for now... and I do hope you keep your promises," Toriel smiled at me as I then went down the stairs in front of me and proceeded down a long hallway until I came to a large door with an emblem on it similar to what I saw on Toriel's dress as well as on the door leading to Flowey's area before meeting him. And after going through this new door, I arrived in another dark room shortly after... and the yellow plant was right there in front of me... but oddly enough, he looked at me not with hostility, but with confusion.
"You again," I frowned at him, knowing now to be extra cautious around this weed.
"I don't understand something about you this time, kid... I'm so used to you being not only a mute, but being pathetically weak," the flower said, me being confused at him saying that.
"Mute? Pathetically weak? I'm afraid I don't understand," I frowned at him.
"Oh, come now. You know exactly what I mean," he said, me frowning at him and shaking my head. "You mean that all of those SAVEs, LOADs, and RESETs weren't your doing? And what of that other soul inside of you, huh? Where the hell did you get that thing at?" Flowey asked, me seeing he got into a bit of anger when he asked that part.
"The only thing I can answer of your questions is the part about the second soul... I got a dream while falling down that hole and, shortly after, I turned into a girl and my soul gained some strange hue to only half of it. I'm just as confused as you sound... though, after our first meeting, I don't trust you as far as I can throw you," I frowned at him, Flowey frowning at that.
"And I hate you, because you claim you don't know a thing about SAVEs, yet your very presence here prevents me from using them! I know a lie when I smell one and I feel you have something to hide, you bitch!" Flowey said, me gasping at his language. "I'm going to keep tabs on you, you little shit! And if I find out you lied at all, then I will make my presence known and I'll make your journey that much harder to complete. Believe me, I've seen these outcomes countless times," Flowey smirked as he then cackled maniacally before then burrowing underground.
"Ignore him and keep moving," the voice said, me sighing and doing just that... and when I got to the other side of the door in front of me, I was met with something I wasn't prepared for. Very cold temperatures and snow everywhere!
"B-B-BRRR! H-How can snow exist under a m-m-mountain? I-It's imp-p-possible!" I said as I had to hold my arms to my sides as I moved forward through the cold and I then heard the voice say something else.
"This is Snowdin, where the snow has always been here and the air is frigid due to a constant stream of cold water rushing above this part of the mountain. The snow is just for looks, though," they said, me frowning at them as I continued to move forward along the snow-covered trail in front of me... but then I heard something. Some kind of footsteps from behind me. I stopped in place and looked behind me... only to see that there was no one there. "We're being followed... by one who knows all and sees all," the voice said, me gulping at that and wondering what this person wanted... and what were they capable of doing to someone as innocent as I was?
"innocent? oh please, don't use that trick with me, kid," I heard a voice say from the trees, me gasping at that and looking all around with fear and worry.
"I-I am innocent, though... I haven't hurt anyone... I-I'm really scared here..." I said with honesty as my voice began to break... and then, something appeared from the trees. A short and stocky skeleton with blank eyes, wearing a blue parka and fuzzy slippers. He looked at me and I felt he was staring into the deep crevices of my mind... it was really spooky.
"it appears that you do not know a thing... that's to be expected... isn't it, nemesis?" the skeleton asked, me gulping at him saying that... but I was even more shocked when I felt something happen to me. My eyes became completely red and I found that I wasn't in control anymore!
"I want time stopped for this conversation, comic. I have my own interests in this," the voice said, me gasping... the second soul inside of me was strong enough to take control whenever they wanted! I then saw something else happen. Only this 'comic' and my body were able to move as all other sounds and even the temperature was unable to be felt.
"what's your big plan in all this then, nemesis? you don't wanna have a bad time again, do ya? because i got all the time in the world to treat you to such a time," the skeleton said as I saw one of his eye sockets grow a large blue and yellow eye, making him even spookier!
"You know what my plan is in all this, comic Sans. To stop the constant Resets... this soul that I've inhabited into Frisk here? I got it from the world beyond after accumulating over a million different souls from Genocide players. I went to the real world and stole the soul of a common criminal, one who was more equipped for burglary rather than murder. I covered all the tracks shortly after and her soul is now mine," the voice said, me gasping at that. Genocide? Players? And over a million of them? How was this even possible?
"hmph. and what do you plan to do with a soul from the true world?" the skeleton asked, me having a feeling that his name was Sans as according to the one possessing my body.
"The soul from the true world that I took, though from a common criminal, is about as powerful as a billion human souls in this world. If this kid ever hurt anyone with the intent to kill, the end result would be that this world would actually create a rip in space-time itself. That's why I've told them to never kill anyone down here. Because if she does... well, the entire multiverse would collapse in on itself," the possessor of my body said. And before I could think of what she had just said about me being strong enough to do something like that? "Besides, since acquiring this soul, I'm sure your machine has stated something of interest, correct?"
"yep... the moment that last reset happened, all traces of time loops have ceased to exist. every single alternate timeline of the infinite possibilities is now completely freed from the players' influences. therefore, i can finally have a rest and all the different versions of frisk can have free will on their own... so why choose a common thug instead of a good person?" Sans asked, me being even more confused.
"Because literally everyone in the true world is equal amounts of terrible and corrupt in their hearts. Even the highest religious leaders were guilty of horrific acts. Honestly, a borderline passive street thug was the best I could come up with on short notice... if I thought humans in this world were terrible, I apologize for my thoughts on them... compared to the true world, the humans in this reality are saints in comparison," the voice said, me frowning at that... humans that were so horrible that they made even the worst in this one comparable to the best of the best?
"and i can sense that frisk is full of confusion, so why didn't you share any of this right off the bat? why wait until you got to me, huh?" Sans asked.
"Because, oddly enough, I find you the easiest to trust, but only because of you being the toughest son of a bitch I've ever faced one-on-one... all those times I landed the killing blow were just pure dumb luck," the person in control said.
"just tell the kid not to speak of my true strength. i only use it for mass serial killers and homicidal maniacs... which this kid obviously isn't. it was the humans in the true world always in control of the numerous frisk's, not the frisk's themselves," Sans said.
"I'll tell them everything when Papyrus appears and we both hide behind the lamp... I'm letting her in control again, so feel free to let time flow freely again," the voice in my head said as I then gasped awake and I saw that the temperature was back to freezing cold and I shivered again.
"come with me, kid, and hide behind the lamp. my bro papyrus is going to be arriving soon. and don't come out until i give you the go-ahead," Sans said, me nodding at that and doing just that... and I then had to wonder just what the kid in my head would have to tell me. What the hell was even going on anymore?
