I am very sorry for how long this took me to update, I got overloaded with way too much stuff. Just to reassure you all, I fully intend on finishing this story. I hope it wont take me too long, but I am starting a new job soon, and I am still in the process of looking for an even better position, so bear with me, I am still a little busy.
Anyway. Thanks to all my followers/favorites/reviewers, you definitely keep me going. I love feedback, it often helps me shape the direction of my stories, and I really appreciate it. Hope you enjoy this long overdue chapter!
Disclaimer: I do not own Doctor Who
The Doctor doesn't sleep, well; at least he doesn't spend the same amount of time sleeping like humans do. Catnaps work best for him, a quick three minutes here or there, usually saved for moments when he is stuck doing something he hates, like listening to Jackie prattle on about who knows what. However, as Rose slept, he couldn't quite bring himself to leave her side. Maybe it was to prevent him from finding and hurting Jimmy Stone, or maybe he just didn't want Rose to wake up alone. The rehearsal dinner had been a disaster, and Rose was quite emotional as she told the Doctor her history with Jimmy, so the Doctor wanted to stay by her side, just in case she needed him, so he took the opportunity to take a longer nap than normal, and cuddling up beside Rose made that quite easy to do. The wedding was to start around two o'clock the next day, so they would have the morning to putts around, he really hoped the wedding would be better than the rehearsal.
As the sun began to rise, the Doctor felt Rose start to stir. She wasn't much of a morning person, and together with the events of the other day, the Doctor was hoping her mood wouldn't be too foul.
"Mornin," she mumbled, stretching her arms out then rubbing her eyes.
The Doctor smiled at her, "good morning sleepy head!"
Rose groaned. "Is there a reason you are in such a good mood this morning?"
"What are you talking about? I happen to always be in a good mood!" the Doctor responded happily.
Rose laughed, sitting up to give him a sarcastic look, "yeah right, you have so many mood swings you could be a teenage girl!"
The Doctor scoffed at her, "do not!"
"Do too, though I will admit, most of the time you are manically happy," she replied, then yawned.
The Doctor shook his head, "big day ahead, want a cuppa to get you started?"
"Mmm, I'd love one."
The Doctor hopped up off the bed and grabbed the kettle. The room had a coffee maker, small electric water heater, and a couple of bags of tea, the cheap stuff.
"What kind do you want?" the Doctor asked, flipping through their options with a frown, "none look especially good. If we had the TARDIS here, we could pop over to Brewdrew, lovely place in the Tentalo quadrant. It's known especially for its exotic tea selection."
Rose sat up, swinging her legs off the bed and stretching, "As lovely as that would be Doctor, we unfortunately lack our transportation. Guess we will just have to make due."
"Obviously you haven't perused this rather sad collection of complementary tea," the Doctor grumbled.
Rose laughed, "I haven't, but I definitely anticipated it! I've got some good stuff in that purple bag on the counter, these places never have good tea."
The Doctor grinned, "thinking ahead, that's my Rose!"
"Well," Rose smiled, attempting to flatten her crazy bed hair, "you know me, I never mess around when it comes to tea."
The Doctor laughed, but then gave her a serious look, "You alright today?"
Rose nodded, "I'm fine, really, though I would like it if he didn't show for the wedding, I really don't want to see him again, but if he is there, it will be okay."
Since they had time before the wedding, the Doctor and Rose took the opportunity to explore. They meandered through the shops, went walking through the gardens, and ate chips for lunch and discussed their next adventure. Their main objective was to stay away from the hustle and bustle of the hotel, but even the small town seemed to buzz with excitement.
"Lord," Rose exclaimed, as she and the Doctor meandered through the streets, hand in hand, "It's like the whole place knows Keisha! Why is everyone so excited?"
"Hmm," the Doctor replied, it is a bit odd isn't it."
They stopped at a shop for some ice cream, so the Doctor took the opportunity to ask about the wedding.
"We don't get too many weddings in this soggy old place," the old man behind the counter responded. "To tell you the truth, all us shop tenders are hoping the wedding guests will come out and spend some good money. I hear the groom comes from a wealthy family."
The Doctor and Rose left the shop, happily licking at their ice cream cones.
"Well," the Doctor sighed, "that was a bit disappointing. I was hoping for a more intricate explanation than just money. Sometimes it is just too much work to dig up an adventure."
Rose laughed, "is that why you got the most disgusting flavor combination of ice cream the shop sold? Looking for an adventure?"
"I will have you know Rose Tyler," the Doctor huffed, "pistachio, coffee, and banana are quite complimentary, you should try it!" As he said that, he shoved the half eaten cone into Rose's face, smearing yellow, brown, and green cream all over her nose.
Rose shrieked. "Oh, now its ON!"
The Doctor took off running, Rose right on his heels, desperately trying to shove her own ice cream onto the Doctor's beloved stripped suit.
Before either knew it, it was time to head back to the room and get ready for the wedding. Both laughed at the looks they received as they walked back, hands and faces covered in ice cream.
I am hoping to get the next chapter up by the end of the week. the next one will bring wedding bells, and possibly some more Jimmy drama! Sorry for any mistakes here, honestly I just wanted to post something new. Merry Christmas everyone!
