Thanks for the reviews, follows, and favorites, y'all make me so happy. So I didn't make it all the way to the wedding, but that is because I decided not to actually write the wedding. I want Jimmy Stone to come back into the story, but I think Keisha and Ben deserve a nice ceremony, not interrupted by a jerk. That just seemed cruel. Anyway, hope you guys like this chapter.
Disclaimer: I don't own Who.
Happy New Year everyone!
The Doctor looked around the large ballroom, searching for a mirror. He had the most unpleasant feeling that his hair had become uncharacteristically flat. He had meandered into the room that the wedding was to be held in after Rose had kicked him out of their hotel room. She had made him shower and get dressed first since she would probably take longer than him. The Doctor had agreed, knowing Rose, he was certain she take longer than he would. Once he was suited up, she told him not to wait for her; she would meet him in the ballroom. The Doctor had smiled at that, Rose knew he hated waiting around, so off he went to check out the venue.
Finding a mirror, the Doctor sighed in relief. His hair was absolutely fine. Giving himself a wink, he turned back to look around the room. Chairs were filling up, and people were socializing, waiting for the start of the ceremony. It was a nice sized room, and the decorations were not as gaudy as he had anticipated them to be. What surprised him most though was how normal this felt, going to a wedding with his companion. A voice in the back of his head, sounding a lot like a northern British accent, was warning him about the danger Rose was to him. "Don't get involved with a companion, especially Rose," the voice said, "Your hearts won't be able to take her loss, and you know you will lose her one day." The Doctor ignored the voice though, I know what I'm doing, he thought, besides, it's just pretend. But he sighed, knowing that wasn't true.
In an attempt to ignore the inner turmoil, the Doctor thought he should probably grab some seats. Unfortunately, before he got close to the chairs, he was swarmed by Rose's 'friends' Marissa and Lara.
"Why hello again Doctor," Marissa cooed.
The Doctor blanched at her tone, "er, hello…ladies," he replied, eyes darting around, desperately hoping Rose would appear soon.
Marissa moved uncomfortably close to the Doctor, "Once again we meet you without your lovely wife, needing some space are we?"
Lara laughed, "Or were you searching for some intelligent conversation?"
The Doctor frowned; no wonder Rose disliked these women. "No," he said, stepping back from Marissa. "She is upstairs getting ready. I came down to scout for some seats, and her mum." The Doctor actually found himself hoping Jackie Tyler was around. He needed one of the Tylers to come save him from these women, though he would prefer it be Rose.
"Haven't seen Jackie, but you know those Tyler women, it takes them a long time to get ready," Marissa giggled, "after all, look what they have to work with."
At that both women laughed, but the Doctor glowered.
"I don't know what you are talking about," the Doctor said, "Rose looks beautiful all the time!" Stop thinking about Rose and how pretty she is! The Doctor chastised himself, but she still needed to be defended, she was, as he said, beautiful all the time. "In fact," the Doctor continued, "she even looked fantastic this morning after I got her all sticky and wet…"
"You did WHAT?!" Jackie Tyler interrupted, having just walked into the room and heard an unfortunate part of the conversation.
Marissa and Lara's faces were priceless, not quite sure what they were hearing, and Jackie looked like she might blow a gasket.
"You," she said quietly, pointing a finger at the Doctor, "come with me."
The Doctor raised an eyebrow in confusion. He was used to Jackie being mad at him, but he usually knew why. He quietly followed her to a side room. "What's wro…" SLAP!
"OW!" the Doctor cried, "What's that for?"
"This was supposed to be a make believe marriage! I will not have you going around getting my daughter, 'sticky and wet'!" Jackie's voice was low and menacing as she quoted the Doctor.
The Doctor blinked, understanding slowly working its way to his brain, and when it hit, his mouth formed an 'oh'. "It was ICE CREAM!" He exclaimed, slightly horrified. "You humans, are your minds always in the gutter? We had an ice cream fight! I got ice cream all over her!"
It was Jackie's turn to blink, and she pursued her lips. "Let's not tell Rose about this, alright love? Sorry about the slap." She reached up and straightened the Doctor's tie, and then left the room.
The Doctor took a moment to comprehend what just happened before following her out, grumbling about humans and tiny brains. Seriously, human's had filthy minds. His grumbling immediately stopped when he noticed Rose walk into the ballroom. His sour mood turned sunny and he bounded over to his 'wife'.
"Rose," he said when he reached her, "you look brilliant!"
"Really?" Rose blushed and gave a twirl for the Doctor. Her blue satin dress shimmered. The Doctor was thankful he had two hearts because he was pretty sure one of them stopped beating.
"Truly beautiful," the Doctor added, smiling widely.
Rose laughed, "For a human right?"
The Doctor shook his head, "for anything."
It was Rose's heart's turn to skip a beat, he looked so sincere.
The Doctor offered her his arm, "May I escort you to our seats Dame Rose?"
Rose grinned and accepted his arm, "Why thank you Sir Doctor."
They took their seats next to Jackie and Bev. The Doctor ignored Jackie's pointed looks of annoyance occasionally shot his way. He leaned over to Rose and said, "You know, you really shouldn't have dressed like that."
Rose gave him a questioning look, "and why not? I look hot in this!"
The Doctor laughed, "can't argue with that, but you are going to upstage the bride in that! And if I am correct, at human weddings, isn't the bride supposed to be the most breathtaking woman in the room?"
Rose had to consciously stop her mouth from falling open; the Doctor was never this affectionate and flattering. She stared at him, not sure what to say. He just grinned smugly at her. Rose's eyes narrowed. Was he enjoying flustering her? She knew her cheeks were bright red, but before she could come up with a good comeback, the wedding march began to play. Rose had been so engulfed in her conversation with the Doctor, she hadn't noticed that the wedding was about to start. Everyone stood and the bridesmaids began their walk down the aisle.
Reception is next, and some Jimmy drama!
