Okay everyone. This chapter is dedicated to SonicAnon who requested a Sonic/Shadow one shot. I never really thought about those two as a ship before, but I'm not discouraged from the idea I think it's interesting! If you don't like boyxboy then just skip this chapter lovelies. I'm only putting this warning out for people who have a preference on what they read. If you don't like it just skip along, I'm fine as long as you're happy. Next chapter will be different again.

I did some research as well with this one, and well. You'll find out why during the chapter. I really hope you enjoy how I made this request out to be. I'm a perfectionist so I always must please my readers to the fullest potential.

The beginning is copied from Sonic Adventure 2: Battle with some of the lines. I added some of my own too so I'm not plagiarizing.

Chapter 4: Cherry Bomb

Two years ago.

Sonic the Hedgehog was speeding down the busy street of the town of City Escape, a military truck with a huge sign that read 'G.U.N' on the side, was chasing him. He had been previously captured by the G.U.N team, shoved into a cage and brought onto an airplane, and was held captive. However, the workers weren't very smart. As they sat at the front of the plane, steering it through the sky with ease, the blue hero raised an eyebrow at the two men who were the only ones at the front alongside with the hedgehog. He needed to escape; he couldn't bare to stand still for this long. It was pure torture, not being able to run freely with free will. No way!

Sonic eyed the airplane's door tenderly, squinting just eyes a bit as he thought of a plan. He placed his hand underneath his chin, in deep thought. The two men were engulfed in a conversation, they had no clue that the hedgehog managed to escape from the cage that they trapped him in.

"Sigma-Alpha 2 heading due south over the city. We're en route. Everything's a go." The one guy said to his coworker over the phone speaker on their radio. His other coworker who was on this mission with him, was eating a sandwich beside him. He too, didn't realize that Sonic had managed to leave the cage and was standing right next to the plane's front doors.

"This is control tower. We have you on radar. Report cargo status of captured hedgehog aboard. Over!"

Sonic rolled his eyes. This was getting to be sooooo boring. He could've easily been with Tails right now flying the Tornado 2. But instead, he was trapped inside this airplane. With two pilots who had no brains for anything, completely oblivious of their surroundings.

"That's a 10-4. Cargo secured on board and…"

There was a pause.

"What?!"

"I didn't copy that. Over!"

"The hedgehog is gone. He's taken out everyone aboard and…"

"What's wrong?! Come in. Over!"

"What in the world?!"

At this point Sonic has had enough listening to those losers' gibberish. He quickly raced around the plane to stop the security guards who were trying to catch him again—most likely to shove him back into the cage he was in previously. But little did they realize just how fast the hedgehog was. His name was Sonic for a reason, you know. He pushed against each of the security guard's heads, smashing them together against one another. Making them fall to the ground in pain. The two pilots looked at the reverse mirror at the front of the plane, gasping loudly when seeing what the hero was doing.

Before they all knew it, Sonic has the door busted open. And he was jumping out of the window, grabbing onto the plane's side wing to hold himself up. He could hear the pilots' muffles from around the area, desperately trying their hardest to find the hedgehog and capture him again. But with no such luck, they weren't doing very good.

"Freeze! What do you think you're doing?! Catch that hedgehog!"

Sonic smirked as he grabbed a hold of the plane's wing tighter in his hand, ripping off a huge chunk of it for a piece. He held the piece close in his hands, rolling his eyes at the men who were scattering around trying to locate where Sonic was.

"Talk about low budget flights, no food or movies…I'm outta here!" Sonic says cheerfully, looking down at the ground. It was way high up. "I like running better." And then he was off. He jumped down from the plane, positioning the piece of airplane wing to be his skateboard.

"Yeaaaaahhhhh!" The blue hero says loudly as he fell to the ground of City Escape. The workers of G.U.N watched in shock; their eyes were widening. Their mouths were hung open. They couldn't believe it, did that really just happen?! Not only was this hedgehog fast, but he could talk. God. They must be on the news.

The one guy growls at his coworkers.

"Okay men, this doesn't stop us for doing our jobs! We need to catch this damn hedgehog! Now, I don't care what it takes. We will find him and get him back to the main boss. Call for back up men, get them to fill up one of our trucks and chase that hedgehog! Ready men?" The guy says loudly, to which his workers all nodded in agreement. Telling their workers to call for back up just as they were rightfully told to and jumped off the plane also with a parachute.

Which leads to the scene now.

Sonic sped down the highway of City Escape, running quickly past a bunch of cars, crashing them to the sides. A bus drove right in front of the hero, but he sped through it. Causing the bus to fly into the wall in front of him.

"Woo!" Sonic whistled to himself. "Oh yeah! This is happening! Adventure here I come."

This was waaaay passed cool. This was so much more fun rather than just sitting around that boring plane. People like Sonic weren't made to just sit around and stay still, it was like a person with ADHD. The more he sat around still, the grumpier he got.

After successfully escaping from the G.U.N team and from the city, the blue hero raced through the rest of the villages. Stopping by to say hello to his friends for a moment, also stopping by the Chao Gardens to say hello to Cream & Cheese along with the other Chao animals. He fed them fruits and brought them animals to play with or gemstones.

Why is all this important you may ask? Why…this is how he met the love of his life.

Shadow. Ah yes. Shadow the Hedgehog.

At first, they were huge rivals. They didn't get along at all. Sonic was mistaken for Shadow a lot, everybody thought from Shadow doing wrong things that the blue hero was the one doing it. But he immediately cleared that rumour up. He didn't want his heroic reputation to be ruined by somebody who was doing mischief. After a while they worked together to stop Dr. Eggman's grandfather, who was trying to get revenge on Station Square for his granddaughter Maria.

Shadow LOVED Maria. He kept telling himself he was trying to save the world, the planet, for the people on that planet. But if you think about it more objectively, Maria was the reason he was a hero in the end. Working alongside with Sonic to defend the Doctor was a huge plus.

How did they get together? Well…

One day after defeating Dr. Eggman's grandfather, Sonic was standing in front of a window of a gift shop. The reason why he was here is because he was watching the news on the tv over the gift shop's window. The news reporter lady was talking about how Shadow the Hedgehog started out as a villain, being brainwashed by Dr. Eggman into doing bad but in the end, he turned out to be the real hero. He got revenge for Maria and felt better about himself.

"You shouldn't listen to stuff like that Faker, I'm still the same hedgehog I once was." A voice says from behind him. The hero jumped a bit at the voice, completely startled. But he soon relaxed once he realized it was just Shadow. But wait—where did he come from? Last time he checked; the black hedgehog didn't live in Station Square?

"I think what you did was great Shadow. You may not think it now, but in a few years, you'll be looking back at this moment and feel accomplished with yourself. You see, it's not bad being a hero, huh?" Sonic says back, crossing his arms across his chest and leaning against the gift shop's wall.

The previous villain's cheeks turned a bright red at the blue hero's words. He turned away briefly, trying his hardest to avoid eye contact. He didn't like it when his soft side showed, he didn't want anybody—especially Sonic, to see this side of him…ever.

"I don't know what you're talking about Faker." Shadow mumbles back. Feeling some annoyance and anger rising. The reason he felt this way is because Sonic got to him, and the worst part is? The blue blur knew it too. He knew he had that effect on the hog.

"I think you do. And stop calling me Faker. If anything, you're the fake hedgehog around here. I was here first." Sonic defended himself. Crossing his arms across his chest also, a wide smirk invaded his features now. He was teasing the other boy miserably. And boy, was it ever fun.

Just the sight of the black hero's cheeks flushing a deep red, meanwhile his body language showed both embarrassed but also shy at the same time. Shyness was cute. Especially on a guy. Sometimes men of few words were the best ones out there. Shadow ended up being such a good found person, who knew? Sonic could see himself becoming a bit closer to the other hog, they should try to become friends. What would stop them from being friends? Nothing. Exactly. So, what's stopping them from already being friends?

"Okay So…n…ic." Shadow says, drawling out Sonic's name slowly. As if it was hard to say his name. He was just so used to calling Sonic, Faker that he didn't know how to say his name. Ever since they met, both hedgehogs called each other awful names. But never truly called one another by their actual name. So, doing so, is extremely weird.

Sonic rolls his eyes.

"I guess that's a start. But I must be going. I'm heading to Cream and Tails' for dinner. Uh. See ya." Sonic says lightly. Taking off into the city, leaving a gust of blue wind in the progress.

Shadow watched the blue hero from afar. A small smile formed at the end of his lips. He was so cute sometimes.

A little while away, in a small white and yellow house, lived Cream and Tails. They finally became official and moved in together rather quickly. They were the happiest they've ever been, they were so good together. Tails still went on mini adventures with Sonic, but in the end, he came home to Cream's open arms of encouragement. It was…kind of disgusting too. Sonic often wrinkled his nose at the thought. Perhaps it was because he wanted somebody special like that in his life too? But his gut feeling was denying it completely.

"He's just so infuriating! How does one continue to mock me even after I helped save not only his life, but we got the revenge for Maria too?" Sonic complained to his friends as they sat around at the couples' table in their kitchen. Whenever he came over to visit, he always complained to his friends about Shadow. Often, he didn't realize he was doing it. He pushed his food on his plate with his fork, looking down at his plate with annoyance.

Both the fox and the rabbit eyed at their friend softly. Cream cleared her throat and took some sips of her water carefully.

"Um. Mister Sonic…I'm terribly sorry for interfering with your business and all, but I think you have a crush on Mister Shadow." Cream says sweetly, her voice was angelic. Full of innocence and purity. Tails knew from the beginning when he first met the bunny that he made the right decision when picking her as a girlfriend. They worked so well together, and the fox boy couldn't imagine himself with somebody else.

Sonic's eyes widened when hearing that. No…Cream was wrong. Who was she to know?

"No Cream, I don't think that's the case. Why would you think that?" The blue blur asked curiously. He tilted his head to the side to eye at his cute bunny friend. Her cheeks immediately burned up; he put her right on the spot. One thing the rabbit wasn't good at, is having conversations like this.

"W-Well…Mister Sonic. You always talk about Mister Shadow; you always mention his name in conversation at least once whenever you're around everybody. If you truly hated him like you claim, then you wouldn't be talking about him this much." Cream managed to stutter back.

Tails eyed at his girlfriend slowly. She did have a point. When you like somebody, you're always talking about them. And as the old saying says, when you form a crush on somebody, you pull a girl's pigtails or do things to get their attention. Sonic seems to say things or do things to get Shadow's attention. Of course, he wasn't very good with girls either. Seeing as his first and only crush was Cream. He didn't have any interest in girls before her.

It was a few minutes without them saying anything. Sonic was in deep thought. He didn't want to admit that the rabbit was right; but…she was right. His mind always drifted off to Shadow. During every conversation that he had with people, he always seemed to drift towards the black hedgehog into conversation even if he had realized it or not. It always seemed to happen.

With a long, loud sigh, Sonic turned to his friends with his signature smirk and wink.

"You're right Cream, and thanks. You too little buddy." Sonic says lightly, giving the rabbit friend a side hug. After he ruffled Tails' fur on the top of his head. He needed to go do something, he needed to do it fast. The worst that could happen would be Shadow says no, or he fights him. But at this point, he didn't see it being a negative thing.

With that, Sonic took off from the Cream and Tails' household.

Shadow the Hedgehog was casually leaning against the side of a building. His arms were crossed over his chest, his eyes were closed. He looked so peaceful. Rouge, his best friend, and his partner had a big chat with him earlier. Rouge was also best friends with Amy Rose, they were always together. And yesterday the bat pulled the black hero aside to give him a positive pep talk. Or…more like a lecture. The words she spoke was flowing through his head teasingly.

"Amy and I agreed you need to stop being so chicken shit and confess your feelings for Mr. Big Blue." Rouge says her voice was full of seduction. She had always called Sonic big blue. The way her high pitched girly voice rolled his name off her tongue really sent shivers down the hog's spine. He clenched his hands tightly up against his sides. He said nothing.

But what could he say? Yes Rouge, I'll go do that right away. No. He couldn't do that. Faker probably didn't feel the same as he did, why would he? They were complete mere opposites with little to nothing in common. What would they talk about if they were together? Oh yeah. We both fought Doctor Eggman and his grandfather, getting revenge for Maria and peace to the people on earth.

Yeah. That gets old after a while.

The words Rouge spoke to him recently wouldn't stop flowing through his mind. He couldn't deny that Sonic was kind of handsome. The way his blue quills flowed behind his head as he ran, his green eyes shining in the bright light. His smirk…. was the best part. Other than his cocky confident attitude. His attitude screamed fun and ambitious for adventure. Maybe that's what they had in common. They both couldn't stand still for long and always had to be on the go.

"Hey." A voice startles him out of his deep thinking. Shadow nearly jumped out of his skin when noticing Sonic standing somewhat uncomfortably close to him. A soft smile was planted on his cute face. Wait – how did he find him? That blue boy always knew where he was somehow.

"Hey." Shadow says back. His voice was almost like a whisper. He wasn't expecting Sonic to come even closer to him, leaning against the wall as well. He put one of his legs up to press against the wall while his other stood plant on the ground. It was silent. Neither boy was saying anything.

Maybe that was a good thing? Sometimes the presence was all that they needed. He didn't know how to start a conversation. Especially! About his feelings. If there's one thing he wasn't good at, is talking about his feelings. Even if Rouge was correct, he did feel something for the blue hero, how does one address that?

His thoughts were cut off short by the blue blur lightly grabbing his hand within his own. Twirling their fingers around together. Their hands interlaced. It felt so nice, so peaceful.

And yeah. That's when he knew. Both knew. They didn't have to confess anything, no words needed to be said. All it took was the intertwine of the fingers to know their secret crush for one another.

That's the day their lives changed forever.

This was a while ago. But it was also the best decision the hero has ever made. Sonic gladly accepted Shadow into his life, they didn't become official until a few months later. Instead, they spent valuable time getting to know one another. They went on countless dates, where they talked their ears off. It was a perfect way to work their way up to a relationship. For somebody as shy as Shadow, he really opened up when getting with Sonic Of course, he still had that shyness. He still barely spoke a full conversation to most people; except he was a lot better than what he was years ago.

Everybody accepted them too. When they came out to the crew, there were lots of applauses and 'I knew it!'. Amy and Rouge squealed with joy, hugging both hedgehogs. Cream slyly gave out a 'I knew you should've listened to me.' To the two heroes. Tails also didn't mind, as long as his best friend was happy. Then he was happy. Knuckles? He was a bit awkward at first; it was his first time seeing a homosexual relationship. But he accepted them, nonetheless. That's what friends are for.

Shortly after their time spent together, the two boys moved in together. Sonic packed his things and moved into Shadow's apartment. It was only a one-bedroom apartment, but it was only the two of them now so, they didn't need the extra space. Living together was enjoyable, they barely fought. Of course, they would bicker or tease each other tremendously, but that didn't mean anything. They were such a good couple. They were more than just a couple though; they were also best friends too. Their friendship blossomed over their time spent together, which lead to their beautiful relationship.

Now that they have been together for a few years, it was time to talk about upping their relationship.

Everybody was older now. Cream and Tails got pregnant and had a beautiful baby girl rabbit, who resembled her mother completely. But she had Tails' blue eyes and a pair of two tails instead of a rabbit tail. So, technically she was a mixture of them both, but she resembled Cream more. Their daughter, Molly, was turning two years old in a few months. Tails and Cream brought her over to visit her uncles Sonic and Shadow a lot, they babysat whenever the couple wanted to go on date nights.

It caused a lot of baby fever. Molly was so cute; she picked up on mannerism from her mother, and intelligence from her father. Her tiny speeches were adorable, she could easily wrap anybody around her petite finger.

One night, the two hero hedgehogs were sitting side-by-side on their bed in their room. Sonic was watching TV, meanwhile Shadow was reading a book. Or…he was pretending to read. His mind was active of his baby fever, he wanted to have a child so badly. Seeing Molly quite frequent made it a thousand time worse. Especially since she was one of the few people, (Sonic, Rouge, Amy, and Cream were the others.) to catch his soft side. Shadow didn't like to show off that side of himself very often, he wanted to keep the bad boy act going. But seeing Molly's cute bunny face made him go weak to the knees.

All she did was say, 'Uncle Shadow will you playhouse with me?' and he was sold. He would do it in a heartbeat, no excuses or questions asked. And before he knew it, he was dressed up in a Princess outfit while Molly danced with him.

It was time. They weren't getting any younger, and time was just flying by.

"Hey Faker." Shadow spoke up to his boyfriend, putting down the book that was in his hands. Even after being committed in a relationship with Sonic for years, he still called him Faker as a 'cute' pet name. That's the cutest name he would ever even consider calling his lover. He wasn't really about calling somebody babe, sweetheart, baby…etc. That just wasn't him, he wasn't a super lovey-dovey type. Plus, that was their thing. He called Sonic, Faker for years.

He also showed Sonic his love and affection in different ways.

"Yes? What's wrong?" Sonic's curious voice asked back. He turned down the volume on the TV, so he could hear what his boyfriend had to say. It was obvious that it was important; the expression on his face explained that this conversation that they were about to have is going to be a memorable one.

"I uh…dammit." Shadow cursed under his breath, looking down at his interlaced hands. He toyed with his fingers. Barely making full eye contact. Sonic raised an eyebrow, moving to grab his boyfriend's hand again tenderly. Letting him know to take his time, don't rush. Now, he was nervous. How does one bring up such a topic to their lover? It seems quite random. But needed to be said. He knew his boyfriend loved Molly and other children, so, this wouldn't be a problem. He just needed to spit it out for Chaos sake.

He inhaled a deep breath, closing his eyes.

"Iwanttohaveachildwithyou." Shadow says through grit teeth. This was so embarrassing. His cheeks quickly heated up in a deep red, his hands balled up at his sides again. The anxiety he was feeling for Sonic's reaction was insane. He never really spoke about those kinds of topics very often. However, he knew he wanted this more than anything.

Sonic's reaction, however, was NOT what he was expecting. He was fully expecting Sonic to laugh in his face, make a joke about how his face was as red as Amy's dress or Knuckles' skin. Or, he thought Sonic would shrug off the idea and never bring it up again. But, instead, the hero pulled his boyfriend into a tight embrace. Kissing him lightly on the forehead.

"I thought you would never ask. I feel the same way. Since Molly came into our lives, I wanted to have a child with you. I think it's a wonderful idea. But the question is, how are we going to get one? Obviously, we are both guys…so neither of us can give birth. I was thinking about adoption, but I think adoption isn't our way to go. Don't get me wrong, adoption is wonderful and such a blessing…I just think we need to think of something else. What do you think?" Sonic asks softly.

He's right. Adoption was great and all…except he didn't think it was their path to go. Suddenly, an idea popped into his head.

"Rose…she's single." Shadow murmured. Except, it came out wrong. That's not what he meant. He turned away from his boyfriend, embarrassment invading his features again once realization hit him at what he just said. The blue hero's face scrunched up with confusion. Which was expected. He gestured for his boyfriend to continue.

"I think…we should ask Rose if she can be our surrogate mother." He would've asked Rouge, but he didn't want to deal with the bat's mood swings while pregnant. He gets that enough already, and she isn't pregnant. Amy was a much better choice, she was kind…patient. Everything they needed within a woman to carry their child. Plus, both hedgehogs trusted her endlessly. Not that he didn't trust Rouge… yeah.

It was a lot to ask of somebody and Rouge probably would say no. There was a 50/50 chance of her saying yes or not. Amy on the other hand? Would say yes in a heartbeat. His boyfriend nodded his head at the idea, he loved it! He was going to ask Amy tomorrow. Well, both would ask Amy tomorrow.

"That's a perfect idea babe. I love it. I'll give Amy a call tomorrow to ask her to come over, then we'll form a small meeting and ask if she'll do this for us." Sonic says sweetly. Giving his boyfriend a tender kiss on the lips as a goodnight before both boys fell into a deep slumber.

The next morning Amy had come over as planned. Her cheerful personality invaded their spaces. She was such a great person to be around, she was such great company. Shadow was completely nervous of their request towards the pink heroine. Of course, he wasn't expecting her to say no. She wouldn't say no. It's just such a large thing to ask of somebody. It means that Amy would not only have to carry their child for nine months, but she wouldn't even get to keep the baby.

"Amy. I speak for both Shads and I when we say we have such an important request to ask of you." Sonic started to say. The three of them were sat across their kitchen table in the kitchen. Coffees were spread all around. Shadow toyed with his fingers again. Something he had picked up on recently, he was doing it a lot lately. To show off his nervousness.

Amy nodded her head sweetly, tilting her head to the side. Motioning for her friend to continue. She stayed silent, for it looked like what her friends had to say was super important. Sonic damped his lips taking a quick glance at his boyfriend who still refused to make eye contact with the two.

"Well…we have been talking about it. And we want to become parents. I'm just going to come straight out and say it bluntly, Amy…will you be our surrogate mother?" Sonic asked. Oh god, this was it. This was the big moment. Shadow's palms felt sweaty, his face had some sweat pouring off him.

It was silent for a long time. Nothing was being said. Shadow began to panic; he was about to start apologizing and demand that she forgot they even asked. Forget the idea. The pink heroine surprised them both by squealing out loud, clapping her hands together.

"Oh, you boys…I'm so honoured you asked me. I would love to do this for you both. I'm so happy! You can count on me." Amy gushes. Happy tears formed her eyes. She brought both hogs into a tight hug, much to Shadow's embarrassment.

Both boys were ecstatic about the girl's response. Shadow couldn't help the small smile indicating his face. Sonic squeezed his lover's hand gently, kissing over his knuckles. This was going to be the best time of their lives. Wow…having a baby. How could it get any better than this?

"Thank you so much Amy, this means the world to us." Sonic coos. The black hero agreed, nodding his head.

"Yeah…thanks much Rose." Shadow murmured. His eyes widening drastically when Amy planted a kiss to his cheek as to say you're welcome. He quickly swats her away, getting up from the table to take off into his bedroom. The embarrassment was enough for today, Sonic can continue to chat with Amy until further notice.

The blue hero chuckles at his boyfriend's reaction. Same old Shadow. But he knew, deep down, the black hedgehog was grateful for Amy for doing this. Although he wasn't good at expressing feelings or emotions, he still had a soft spot for Amy. He just didn't show it very often.

"He appreciates this a lot Amy. He was actually the one to bring it up to me first." Sonic confesses, which the pink girl's eyes widened, and her mouth gapped open in shock.

"I know. His tough guy act doesn't phase me, I can see right through him. Although, I am shocked that he was the one to bring it up first. I would've thought it would be you first." Amy giggles. Sonic shrugs his shoulders in return.

"I did think about it for a while now, but I didn't know how to bring it up. I'm glad he brought it up honestly. Anyways, thank you again. We can set up a doctor's appointment in a few days to get everything set up."

Amy nods.

"Sounds great."

The next few days were hectic. The two male hedgehogs signed a bunch of papers indicating health and safety while doing this, the pros and cons on it, the cost, the warnings. Blah blah. They went to a donating clinic to get everything set up, and within a few days they would get some results. The doctors told them to get Amy to take a pregnancy test two weeks after their visit. If there's a negative sign on it, then just come back and try again. Keep trying until they get some positive.

Right now, the whole crew were at Sonic and Shadow's house. Cream and Tails had gotten Vanilla to watch Molly for them while they did this. They didn't want their toddler to be exposed to this kind of thing, not yet. She's too young. Rouge was here as well, her and Knuckles were sitting on the couch while they waited. Shadow opens the front door of his house, stepping inside. He just went to the store to grab a few pregnancy tests just in case. Just to be sure. Sonic was sitting next to Amy at the kitchen table, also impatiently waiting for his boyfriend to get back.

"Here Rose." Shadow says bashfully. Handing her a single pregnancy test with shaky hands. He turned away from the girl, he couldn't make eye contact. It was too awkward.

"Thanks. I'll be back in a Sonic second." Amy jokes. Getting up from the kitchen chair and made her way to the bathroom. Cream and Rouge immediately followed, standing in front of the bathroom door so they wouldn't have to go completely inside. They needed to let Amy do her business by herself.

Everybody was anxious. Tails and Knuckles sat on the couch with their hands crossed over the other, looking down at the ground as they waited. Sonic was pacing around from the kitchen to the living room, his hands were behind his back. Shadow leaned against his kitchen sink counter; his arms tightly crossed around his chest.

Three minutes later, the bathroom door opened. Everybody's eyes turned excited at the door, awaiting to see what Amy had to say. Tears were formed in her eyes as she clutched the test tightly in her hands. Shadow's heart dropped a little at the sight. No, no…no. Please don't-

"We're pregnant." Was all that the Rose girl had to say before everybody screamed with joy. Moving to hug the new surrogate mother happily. Shadow sighed with relief, doing the unthinkable for himself and hugged Amy tightly in his hands. But not enough to crush her. She was carrying his child, after all.

"Thank you, thank you. Oh, thank you." Shadow gushes out happily.

What a wonderful time to be alive.

The next nine months were rough to say the least. Sonic and Shadow tried their hardest to help Amy in the best way that they could; they brought her constant food whenever she craved it. They ran her baths and helped her get into the bathtub since her belly was getting huge quickly. Those two boys practically mothered Amy, making sure she had everything she needed and more. The mood swings came fast too, and well. That was…interesting.

But the boys kept their cool. They never lost their patience with Amy no matter how much they wanted to. It got hard when she started becoming demanding and rude, but the boys kept reminding themselves that she's pregnant. The hormones for it is going to be crazy. Which it was. She also craved the weirdest foods at such odd times.

All of them got through it though.

When Amy went into labour, it was such a fast pace intense time for them all. They were glad it was happening though; within the last few weeks Amy's belly was about ready to pop. Her back was killing her, her feet and legs were swollen. The poor girl was miserable. She just wanted the baby to come out already goddamn it! It was getting hard for her to move around or sit down somewhere. Everybody had to lend a helping hand. So, when Amy's water broke, it was amazing.

But also, a weird timing as well.

They were all in the grocery store getting some last-minute baby supplies, when the girl felt water hit her feet. Then, she let out a loud gasp.

"Oh god, guys! My water. My water broke. It's time!"

Boy, was it ever the time indeed. Sonic asked Shadow to pick Amy up bridge style while he called the ambulance. The black hog agreed. He picked the girl up gently, draping his arms under her to help support her while he raced out to their car.

It didn't take long for the ambulance to arrive to take Amy away. Sonic had also called all their friends, demanding them to rush to the hospital quick! When they got to the hospital, Shadow helped Amy into a wheelchair meanwhile Sonic checked her in. It didn't take long for all of their friends to show up. Cream held Amy's hand in the hospital room while Rouge wiped her forehead to get the sweating to stop.

Tails and Knuckles sat outside the hospital room. The tension was real. They were all super anxious on how the birthing was going to go. They've heard lots off horror stories about mothers not living through the birthing, but the baby did. It's terrifying. Shadow and Sonic were inside with all the girls.

The doctors, however, told them that only the father could stay inside with Amy during this. So, that meant Cream and Rouge had to leave. The boys kissed Amy's cheeks repeatedly, phrasing her on how good she was doing. How much they loved her, etc.

Hours, with lots of screaming later, the cries of a baby entering the earth were heard.

Sonic kissed Shadow passionately, holding his boyfriend tightly in a hug watching as the doctor placed their baby in Amy's arms. Tears had formed their eyes; their hearts were pounding rapidly in their chests. This was the best time ever. The greatest day of their lives. Amy was such a wonderful girl, she didn't have to do this, but she did. Out of the kindness of her heart. The doctor turned to the boys and smiled widely.

"Mr. and Mr. Hedgehog, it's a girl. What would you want to name her today?"

A girl. Shadow felt his heart pound even more in his chest. This was the best moment of his life, other than getting together with his boyfriend of course. Amy was crying the hardest, she was so happy for the two hedgehogs. And it made her entire world knowing she was able to do this for them, it's such a great feeling. It may not have been her biological child, but she's sure Sonic and Shadow would let her come visit whenever she wanted.

This also meant their daughter would have lots of play sessions with Molly. How wonderful!

See, this is why they didn't adopt. Yes – adoption is beautiful and such a blessing. So many children around the world need a forever home; but the look on their own baby's face while she was being held in Amy's arms was worthwhile the most.

Sonic and Shadow looked at each other. As if reading each others' minds, they knew exactly what they were going to say for a name for the baby.

"Maria." They said in union.

It was perfect. Sonic was perfect, Amy was perfect. Their whole little family was now perfect. It was filled completely. Finally, the heroine passed Maria to them after she fed her and the doctors gave them a check up quickly, Shadow looked down at his beautiful baby girl in his arms. She had green eyes already like Sonic's, and her fur was black with blue strips. A mixture of both of her daddies.

"I love you Maria. You're perfect." Shadow whispers. He didn't want to cry in front of everybody, but unfortunately it happened. Tears sprung down his face tenderly. Sonic wrapped his arm around his boyfriend, kissing the top of his head.

"I love you both so much, and I'm going to do whatever it takes to protect you both from everything evil within the world." Shadow agreed to that. He would do the same.

Shadow didn't want to let his newborn daughter go, but the doctor told him that she needed to rest. Amy did as well. So, both boy heroes left the hospital room to sit outside after kissing Amy and thanking her repeatedly.

Sonic wrapped his arms around his boyfriend tightly, kissing him once more. This time, it was a bit more passionate. Full of love.

"I love you." Sonic whispers. "You're going to make a great father."

"You too, Faker." Shadow whispers back.

Life couldn't get any better than this.

Hello friends! Thanks for reading this chapter if you do. I did a little research but didn't get too detailed into the birthing scene or the donating sperm scene. I'm not too comfortable writing those things. Sorry about that! I updated this so quickly since you guys motivated me so much. I loved reading your reviews along with your requests, it makes me smile. When I have an idea, I tend to get it all down and usually my chapters get completely written within a few hours. Like this chapter only took me three hours to write.

I tried to make Shadow not OOC. I know a lot of people do when they write boyxboy fiction with Sonic as his boyfriend. I tried to avoid doing that to maintain realism.

I'm so sorry if some scenes seemed rushed. I tried so hard to make it as best as I possibly could. As mentioned in my previous chapters and above, I'm a perfectionist and always want to please my readers to the best of my abilities.

I made them have a daughter since whenever I read FanFiction it seems a lot of couples tend to have sons. Which is okay! I'm not judging anybody for their writing or the way they portray their stories. I just wanted to change it up a bit and make them have a daughter. I thought Maria was the perfect name for their child.
