Magical Aura
Luna noticed Hermione's magic had changed to silver-and orange, and a slow smile spread on her face. Not bothering to say anything as she was sure Hermione and Remus would like to confirm their news later, Luna strolled over to Hermione's side with her cup of Butterbeer in her hand.
Luna Lovegood scrutinised the scene in front of her with a critical eye. She had always been able to sense magic in a way others couldn't; honing her ability to distinguish each individual's magic hadn't been difficult for Luna as she had been doing it since she was a child, but she knew others thought it was disturbing how she always knew about their auras.
Her ex-professor Remus Lupin seemed to be gravitating around her friend Hermione Granger more than usual. The energy field around both of them bounced from a bubbly pink to a deep rose-pink as they let their fingers linger against the others, exchanging conspiratorial smiles every once in a while. That was pretty normal for Remus and Hermione as Luna — and the rest of their mutual friends — knew they had been dating for a long time. Their magic changed colours when they interacted with others, but it always reverted to pink. The colour of love.
Luna noticed Hermione's magic had changed to silver-and orange, and a slow smile spread on her face. Not bothering to say anything as she was sure Hermione and Remus would like to confirm their news later, Luna strolled over to Hermione's side with her cup of Butterbeer in her hand.
"Let me be the first to congratulate you, Hermione," she murmured in Hermione's ear as she wrapped her arms around her friend's shoulders. "I'm so happy for you."
"Wh-what? H-how did you…" Hermione trailed off, panicking that she had done something to reveal her situation.
"Your core magic… It has changed colours," Luna said serenely, stepping back and smiling at her. "Oh, and Professor — sorry, Remus — cannot keep his hands off of you… He's being more handsy than usual."
Hermione blushed and shot Remus a pointed look, and he quickly stepped away from them, his cheeks tingeing pink at Luna's comment. Hermione turned back to Luna and said, "We're not ready to tell anyone yet. Could you please do us a favour and…"
"Oh, don't worry, Hermione, I won't tell anyone you're pregnant," Luna murmured, sipping her Butterbeer and patting Hermione's shoulder. "Ooh, have you thought of names yet? Do you know what would be a good name? Luna."
Hermione chuckled and replied, "I'll keep that name in mind."
Luna beamed, content in standing beside her friend and soaking in her new core magic's warmth and homeliness. She was reminded of her mother at that moment, and Luna was sure Hermione would be a great mother.
