Chapter 3: Sports Festival

The cavalry battle had just finished and my team placed second. I was advancing to the final rounds but first, they made us break for lunch.

I scowled at Deku's team. 'That damn loser! He got this far without even using a fucking quirk!' I noticed the round-faced girl was on his team. 'No fucking surpises there. Her and that shitty nerd became fast friends since school started. With the way they behave, one would think that they shared a Soul Bond.' I glanced at my covered wrist, 'If only that were the fucking case, then I wouldn't feel tied down by this damn thing.'

The red hair loser clapped his hand down on my shoulder, "Hey you ready to go have lunch?"

"Not with a shitty haired idiot," I yelled.

"All right! Let's go!" He smiled walking inside. He was the least annoying person in the class and his company wasn't half bad, so I followed him in.

We grabbed lunch and I purposely sat in the least crowded area. Shitty hair followed my lead, of course. I sat and ate my food in quiet, my mind on today's events, 'It worked well when I told the rest of the lame-ass participants that I was gonna win. They've all actually put some fucking effort into trying. Not that they are going to win, but they more competition, the more I can show my strength and get noticed by scouts.'

"I've got a question for you." Kirishima said and waited till I glanced at him before continuing, "I noticed you glancing at your left wrist earlier, did your Soul Mark just activate?"

I literally choked on my damn food but quickly recovered. "What the fuck kind of question is that?! You don't go around asking people about their Soul Marks you red hair idiot!"

Kirishima backed away a bit raising his hands in a defensive position. "I meant no harm." He looked at his covered wrist, "It's just I've known my Soul Bond since grade school and we never really saw a reason to keep Soul Marks a secret."

"Oh yeah and who's yours?!" I asked before angrily shoveling food into my mouth.

He looked across the room to the girls from our class standing in a group talking, "It's Ashido." I guess I looked confused because he clarified, "The girl you refer to as a pink alien."

"Whatever. Soul Bonds are for the weak-minded and those who wish to be told what to do." Finished eating, I stood with my empty tray, "I'm not gonna let this fucking bond get in the way of my becoming the number one hero."

"So does that mean your Soul Mark did activate? Are you going to tell me?" Kirishima asked mockingly.

"Idiot! I don't need to tell you a damn thing!" I yelled before stomping away.

I noticed that Deku and icy hot left the lunchroom together and low key followed them. I caught part of their conversation and what they said pissed me off. It's like I didn't even lose a threat to these two with the way they challenged each other.

I walked back towards the lunch area pondering. 'From the sounds of it, Deku does have All Might helping him somehow. I wonder if it has to do with the "borrowed quirk" that loser mentioned. Whatever the hell that meant.'

Lunch soon ended and they called us out to the field once more. Some people withdrew from the finals like fucking weaklings because of their pride or some stupid shit. We soon drew lots and the results displayed on the screen.

I looked up searching until I found myself. "Uraraka, who the hell's that?"

I heard gasping behind me and turned to see round-face looking at me. She had a look of shock and slight terror on her face.

"Guess that means you." I said brushing past her, "This should be fucking interesting."

"I'll defeat you and prove to you and everyone else how strong I am!" Her voice was laced with fear but I respected her courage.

I stopped and said without looking back at her, "Of course you're fucking strong, so don't expect me to go easy on you. I won't hold back just because you're my damn Soul Bond. My goal is to reach the top."

"I won't hold back either!" She said with determination. I smirked, 'Good, I expect nothing less.'

Next up was a list of dumb ass side games that had nothing to do with the tournament. I opted out to go and focus on my upcoming match.

'Brown eyes isn't as powerful as me but she definitely isn't as weak as Deku and the others treat her. I'd be a fucking fool to underestimate her. From the times I've seen her use her quirk, it has something to do with gravity and the source is her hands. I can't let her touch me.'

I had no idea what her fighting style was like and came up with multiple strategies for multiple situations. 'If I hadn't been so fucking focused on crushing Deku that time we were paired against each other I would have some idea how she handled a damn fight.'

While waiting for my match I observed the other fights with some of my fellow classmates. Anyone could be my next opponent. For some fucking reason that sparky idiot decided to sit next to me. I ignored him and focused on the matches.

When spikey hairs match started I went down to Player Waiting Room 1. I did some stretches while waiting. 'I need to be nimble and ready to move quickly to avoid being touched. One touch and I could lose the damn match. Also,' I looked at the spot on my arm where she touched me a while back, 'I don't ever want to fucking feel that again.'

Finally, it was time. As I walked to the ring, I noticed the round face was stiff, 'She's tense. Is she really that terrified?' Pushing aside any feelings, I walked into the ring with a look of annoyance on my face.

After Present Mic's introduction, I said, "You're the one who screws around with gravity, right pink cheeks?" I had decided to change what I called her to help throw off her focus.

A look of confusion crossed her face, "Pink cheeks?"

I gave her one last chance, "If you're gonna give up, do it now. Cause I'm not gonna hold back." She responded with a determined expression.

As soon as the match started she charged, "Giving up isn't an option for me!"

I scowled, "And now you die." I blew her away with a blast.

In the smoke, I heard her say something about dodging. "You should've dropped out of the match." I saw her uniform coming to me opting to blast at her, "There's no way you can beat me!"

To my surprise, it was her jacket and she came at me from behind. Quickly I turned and blasted her away. It went on like this for a bit. She kept coming towards me and I kept blasting her away. 'I was expecting more from her. Is this really all she's got? I'm sure she can do better than this shit show she's putting on!'

I pushed aside the continuous stinging in my left wrist and the slight tinge of guilt. 'This fucking Soul Bond isn't gonna stop me! I will become the best!'

Everything I did was destroying the ring and she was beginning to look beaten down. The crowd started commenting and booing my actions. 'Don't these assholes understand? I don't care how brutal this looks! She's strong and can handle it. I warned her I'd give it my all and I expect no less than her all in return.'

Aizawa stole the mic and defended my actions and insulted the Hero that started the booing. He understood perfectly.

"I think it's about time." She wiped the sweat from her face, "Thank you Bakugo, for keeping your eyes focused on me."

'Huh?!' I looked up and saw the floating debris just before she released her quirk, send them hurtling down towards me. 'What the fuck! How did I miss that?!'

She charged towards me as I raised my left hand above my head. Just as she was about to touch me I released a blast so strong that it blew her away and incinerated all the falling debris. My whole left arm stung from the max use of my quirk. I pushed it to the brink of almost exploding.

As the smoke cleared and I saw her laying on the ground, I said, "I figured you'd have some sort of stupid plan to beat me. You are friends with that damn nerd after all."

There was a look of shock and terror on her face as she squeaked, "It took him one shot."

"That was close." The pain in my arm was so intense that my arm was shaking. I glanced at it and noticed that my wristband was gone, exposing my orange-pink Soul Mark. I looked back at her and she looked as if she was gonna cry before regaining her composure and standing up.

'If she's still standing then she's still asking for a damn fight. Yes, she is a hell of a lot stronger than all these fuckers give her credit for.' "All right then time for us to get serious, Uraraka!" I charged towards her.

She turned to me to charge as well but faltered and fell. I immediately stopped and watched her. She struggled, going on about how she could still fight. I held a defensive pose until finally, she passed out. Midnight walked onto the ring holding a hand towards me while she checked on Uraraka. She then declared me the winner and the crowd cheered.

I watched as they carried Uraraka away on a stretcher. 'Why the fuck do I feel guilty seeing her being carried off? Is it this damn Soul Bond that is affecting me?'

After I walked off the ring and into the privacy of the building I glanced at my exposed Soul Mark. It was surrounded by red as if I'd been injured there. 'Is this a burn from overusing my own quirk earlier or is it a result of the stinging the Mark produced while I fought her?' After that thought, I transferred the wristband from my right arm to my left to cover the Mark once again.

I passed Deku on my way back up to the stands. I assumed he came up with her strategy but was surprised to find she came up with it herself. When I got to the stands with my other classmates they all had comments about how the fight went and even called Uraraka frail. 'They're all blind.'

I sat down in my seat next to sparky saying, "I definitely wouldn't call that girl frail."

In between Kirishima's match and Deku's match I worked my way inside to get a snack. That massive ass blast used up quite a bit of energy. As the vending machine dropped a bag of chips Uraraka turned the corner and stopped with a gasp, wiping her eyes.

I ignored her and grabbed the bag and she walked past with a sniffle. Something suddenly came over me, "Hey!"

She flinched and turned back to me, "Y-yes?"

I tossed the bag of chips to her and she caught it with surprise, "Don't take your defeat too hard. You were decent out there."

Utter shock crossed her features, "Thanks." She replied with a weak smile and walked away.

I purchased another bag and angrily scarfed down the chips. 'I can't believe I just fucking did that! This worthless piece of shit Bond is going to be the death of me!'

I won the Sports Festival but thanks to icy hot being a fucking bitch ass wuss with daddy issues, it was an unfair fight. I was angry to be considered the winner after such a shitty fight. However, the battle with Uraraka did give me some more respect for her. But I still reject our damn Soul Bond.
