Gearing up for Kacchako week 2020.

Day 1 prompt: Sparring

Chapter 4: Training

The red rash on my left wrist still remained. I had no idea what it was or why it was there and didn't care enough to look into it.

Today was the first day back from our internships. That was a huge fucking waste of my time. Best Jeanist was an idiot who cared too much about stupid ass appearance. No matter how hard I tried, my damn hair still remained flat. In anger, I exploded my bathroom mirror. The glass shattered and flew everywhere, covering my bathroom in shards.

"Katsuki!" My mother yelled from downstairs, "What the hell did you destroy this time?!"

"Fuck this mirror!" I hollered back, shaking off any pieces that landed on me and going to put on my uniform jacket.

"Are you serious, you damn brat!?" She yelled, climbing the stairs, "Do you know how expensive those are!? You owe-" She cut off as she walked in and saw me. A smile grew on her face.

"Don't you fucking dare!" I grumbled.

She started giggling but escalated to a full fit of laughter, "Is this your new look?" She mocked.

"Shut up, you hag!" I yelled and stomped out.

She followed me out, smacking me across the head, "You look fine. Don't stress about it. Come on, it's time for breakfast."

The old man just finished setting the table when I walked into the dining room. I sat down and grabbed some food. He gave an odd look to which I hissed, "Don't even comment."

Breakfast was mostly uneventful except for the old woman lecturing me about paying for the shitty broken mirror. Once I was finished I put my plate in the sink and headed for the door.

"Katsuki, are you forgetting something?" My mom asked.

"What?" I growled.

"You train after school today, right?" She pointed to our pantry, "Go grab something small to keep up your energy later."

"Don't tell me what to do!" I yelled but grabbed a couple of energy bars anyway.

She smiled as I walked out, "Love you, brat!"

"Whatever." I shoved the bars in my backpack and left the house, slamming the door.

It took everything I had not to blow up tape boy and shitty hair when they mocked my hair. But somehow in my outburst with tape boy for calling me pretty boy, my hair jumped back into its normal state. Hopefully, that was a sign that today wouldn't be so damn bad.

School was as mundane and boring as ever. I listened and participated of course but learning had always come so easy to me. New things weren't really a challenge for me. After the last bell rang I grabbed my shit and headed towards the locker rooms and gym to go train. The school provided the service for free to all hero course students.

Once I was in my gym clothes I walked in and towards the area set up for stretches. Everyone I normally saw was there but to my surprise, Uraraka was also there attempting to do warm-ups.

"What the hell are you doing here round face?" I said as I walked past and grabbed a mat.

"Gunhead gave me some great pointers and trained me in his martial arts!" She beamed, "I figured it best to keep training!"

I growled and started my warm-up stretch routine, 'Even she got something out of her damn internship!'

After my warm-ups, I did some core and cardiac workouts, then weightlifting, and finally jogging. I finished my laps, drank some water, and returned to my mat for cool-down stretches. In all, it took my normal average of two hours. Midway through my stretches, a shadow loomed over me.

Glancing up I snapped, "What the hell do you want round-face?"

She scratched the back of her head, "I hope this isn't weird but could you maybe help me train? I'm a bit at a loss of what to do exactly."

"Do I look like a damn personal trainer to you?"

"Well, it looks like you've been working out for years." She folded her hands behind her back, "So you must have a lot of knowledge on routines and such."

'It looks like I've been working out for years...What the hell is she implying?' I stood up and stretched my arms, "Why don't you ask that fucking nerd, Deku? I'm sure he'd be more than happy to train with you."

Her face dropped, "He'd go too easy on me. For some reason, everyone sees me a someone who is frail." She looked back at me determined and raised her clenched fists to chest level, "Except you. You treat me as an equal."

Finishing up my stretches, I picked up my mat, and snarled, "Unless you can come up with a good offer that benefits me as well, then no."

I wiped the mat down to sanitize it and hung it with others to dry. Uraraka rushed to sanitize and hang hers as well and quickly followed me.

"I could show you some of Gunhead's martial arts." She mentioned thoughtfully.

"Not necessary."

"How about when we are allowed to use our quirks while training?" Her voice was desperate, I groaned. She elaborated, "With my quirk keeping you levitated you can practice utilizing your quirk better in the air."

I turned around and glared at her hissing, "Are you saying that I need help?!"

"Not at all, it was just a suggestion." She held up her hands defensively.

I walked into the men's locker room to shower and change, "Whatever."

I ate my energy bars and then showered. As I showered I contemplated her offer, 'She is actually fucking on to something. I could use her quirk to come up with more techniques and air attacks. That bitch may have pulled one over on me.' I growled and punched the shower wall.

Uraraka was there waiting for me when I walked out. She too had washed up and changed. I walked past, ignoring her but she fell into step beside me.

"Please Bakugo." She begged.

"Tch" I stopped and glared at her, "You don't have to fucking beg like a damn puppy!" I continued walking, "I could always use more air-based attacks in my arsenal. As much as fucking I hate to admit it, you have yourself a damn deal."

"Really!? Thank you!" She jumped and raised her fist in the air, reminding me of when we met at the entrance exams.

"Meet me at the gym after school on Thursday. Be prepared because we are going to spar."

"What, why?" She was genuinely confused.

I glanced at her as we exited the building, "I need to assess your strengths and see what you have to work on, you idiot."

"Oh, that makes sense."

After passing the gates I headed in the opposite direction than her.

"Bakugo, can I ask you something?" She sounded nervous.

I let out an irritated sigh, "You just did." She scowled an expression that looked foreign on her. "What is it?"

"Does your Soul Mark have like a rash or something around it?" She removed her wristband and showed me hers. It was the first time I'd seen my Mark without looking at my own wrist. A concept that was strange to me.

I noticed hers was surrounded by red like mine and glanced at my own covered wrist, "Yeah, it does."

"Do you know why?" She covered her wrist once again.

I turned and walked away, "I never gave enough of a shit to look into it."

Because of her personality, I assumed she waved as she called out, "See you tomorrow!"

I walked away without a word. On my way home I withdrew some money from my account to pay for that damn broken mirror. It was the best way to avoid that old hags nagging.

Thursday felt like it came faster than normal. When the school day was finished I headed to the gym with Kirishima trailing me. He usually worked out on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with us sparring on Thursdays. We both got changed and walked in.

"Aren't you coming?" He asked when I stopped and leaned next to the doorway.

"I'll start when I'm fucking ready, red-haired moron!" I yelled.

He shrugged and went to start his warmup stretches. I waited for about ten minutes and was about to start without Uraraka when she finally walked through the damn door.

"Tch! It fucking took you long enough round face."

She jumped and looked at me scratching the back of her head, "Yeah, sorry. Tsu wanted to talk about a project."

"Let's get this shit over with." I pushed off the wall to start warmups.

I showed her some of the stretches I did and told her to observe some of the girls to see if they did anything different that she might want to add in. Once we finished stretching, I had her show me her kicks and punches while I did my workout routines beside her. I occasionally threw out insults when she messed up but she took it in strides with fiery determination. After a while, we walked to the sparring mat. I could see Kirishima giving me the strangest of looks as we walked past.

"You dumb fuck, what are you staring at?!" I shouted.

He smiled at me before continuing his workout. I selected the sparring mat farthest from the red-haired idiot.

"The use of Quirks while sparring here is forbidden," I said as I got into my normal sparring pose but irritation rose in me when I saw Uraraka's stance.

"What kind of ridiculous form is that?!" I snapped.

She tilted her head, "Gunhead showed me this."

"Tch, whatever. Start whenever you're ready."

She nodded, took a deep breath, and then charged. She came at me and I was able to predict her kick to my head and dropped down, sweeping my leg into her ankle. She fell hard on her ass with a groan.

"Plan multiple scenarios when you come in for an attack, you dumb ass." Unlike the fight during the Sports Festival where I could continue my barrage of attacks to win, I was assessing her skills, so I backed off to let her stand and regain her composure.

She charged once again, this time throwing a punch to my gut but I caught her arm and twist it with ease to drop her unto her back. She gasped as air escaped her lungs from the impact. She had a small coughing fit after that.

"Hey man, take it easier on her!" Kirishima, who came to watch, called from the side.

"Shut up, shitty hair! I know what I'm doing!" I shouted. Looking back at Uraraka I waited for her next attack.

She ran to me aiming for another high kick. I got ready to grab her leg but it was a fake-out. She dropped down and swept her leg across mine. I nearly fell but caught myself before throwing a punch to her stomach. She was able to knock it off its intended target but my fist still impacted her shoulder.

'She's already learning from this match.' I smiled, probably making me look like a predator about to devour its prey. "Let's see how you keep up your defense, round face."

Without giving her time to think I ran to her, readying for a right-hand hook. She predicted my move and stepped to her right, grabbing my left arm attempting to twist it behind me. I was able to break free and throw a high kick down to her head. She raised her arms in an X above her face to block but the force from the impact still knocked her on her ass. I backed off to let her stand before charging at her once again. I raised my right arm as if going for another punch to throw her off. Once I was close enough I grabbed her left arm, used it to swing myself around behind her, and knock her flat on her stomach. With her arm twisted behind her and my full weight pinning her down, she was immobilized.

"This damn fight it over. I've seen what I needed." I stood, grabbed my water bottle, and walked away.

Kirishima followed me, "Don't you think you were a bit harsh? She looks so defeated."

I glanced back, she certainly did have a sad expression on her face but I could still see a small fire in her eyes. "She's fine. It was her idea in the first place."

"What?! And you went along with it?!" We walked into the men's locker room.

"We came to a fucking agreement. What the hell does it matter to you!"

"Is this a permanent thing?" He asked grabbing something to eat from his bag.

"Maybe. Why the fuck do you care?" I took a drink from my water bottle.

"Well, we always sparred on Thursdays." His face dropped.

"Then you might have to find another day to spar, shitty hair!" Finished with the conversation I got ready and took a shower.

Kirishima had waited for me and followed me when I walked out for the evening, "I guess I could train on Mondays instead of Tuesdays so we can still spar."

"I don't care," I said before we went our separate ways.

Once I got home I spent the evening creating a workout routine for Uraraka. It may have been a bit tough for her level but if one doesn't push themselves, they'll never improve.

The next day before class started I slammed the papers down on her desk making her jump, "Here!"

She looked it over, "Thank you!" She said with a beaming smile.

"Tch! Just keep your end of the deal." I grumbled before slouching down into my seat for the class.

Updates will stop until Kacchako week. I'll be posting 3 updates with prompts that week to participate.
