Kacchako week 2020

Day 3 Prompt - Desserts

Chapter 5: Chillin

The next week I had to put off training on Monday to focus on the finals. The week was long and tiring but I knew I did well on the written exam. Now that the written portion was over, I made sure to go to the gym on Thursday to get ready for the practical on Friday.

Uraraka and Kirishima came as well but what I didn't expect was for that pink alien to join us.

"Why the hell are you coming, alien girl?!" I shouted as we walked down the hall towards the gym.

"Uraraka mentioned she was training with you!." She put her arm around the brunette's shoulders, "I decided to tag along to make sure you don't kill her."

"What the fuck kind of person do you think I am?!" I yelled turning towards her.

"After that display at the Sports Festival, I'd say someone who's pretty brutal when it comes to a fight." She answered contemplatively before smiling.

I started stomping towards her before Kirishima stepped in, "Hey this will be fun. I've never trained with anyone besides Bakugo. Maybe we can all go out for ice cream later to celebrate the completion of our written exams."

"That sounds like a great idea!" Uraraka exclaimed.

"Hell no." I continued walking towards the locker rooms, "The school gave us regulations on what types of food to eat so we can stay in peak physical condition. If we want to be heroes, we can't spend our time eating garbage."

"Oh, live a little." Alien winked and put her finger to her lips, "It's just this once and the school doesn't have to know."

"Yeah man, after all the hard work we put into studying, I'd say we deserve a treat." Kirishima draped his arm on my shoulder.

I shrugged him off and walked into the men's locker to change, "Are you guys fucking deaf? I said no."

"We'll get you to come!" Pinky hollered from outside the door.

I ignored her and got ready to train. While getting ready, Kirishima pestered me one more time about joining them before dropping the subject altogether.

We walked out and started our stretches a few minutes before the girls came out. Uraraka walked out with the papers I gave her and started on the stretches I wrote. She also added some of what pinky showed her.

Finished with stretches, I moved along doing my normal workout routine. Kirishima's was similar to mine, something he probably did so he could talk with me the whole time.

"Thank you for tutoring me before the exams." Kirishima said as he jogged next to me while we did laps, "Even though you yelled and beat me over the head half the time, I actually think I did pretty well this time."

"You better have done well, dumb hair. I didn't just bust my ass just for you to fail." I replied.

He smiled and gave me a thumbs up.

"Bakugo, what kind of slave-driving workout routine did you give Uraraka?" Alien called to me as we jogged past.

I stopped, "Slave driving? What the fuck are you talking about?!"

She held up the papers in one hand and with the other, pointed to Uraraka, who was sitting on the floor panting, "Look at her, she can't continue! The poor girl is gonna pass out from exhaustion!"

I snarled, "Shut up, pink alien! If-"

"The name's Ashido," She cut me off.

"Who cares!" I yelled, "Anyone aiming to be a hero should know that without pushing themselves they'll never be the best. If you all wanna take it easy then you're just a bunch of damn extras."

After I said that Uraraka stood up and started a cardiac routine saying, "You're right Bakugo! I'm aiming for the top! Just like you and Deku!"

At the mention of the nerd's nickname, I growled and continued on my jog around the gym. Once we all finished working out we got together to discuss sparring situations.

"Bakugo, did you want to spar again?" Uraraka asked me with a hint of determination in her voice.

"No." I looked to Kirishima, "The practicals are tomorrow and shitty hair is closer to my level."

"Come spar with me Uraraka!" Alien grabbed the brunette's hands and dragged towards a sparring mat.

"Ok," Uraraka replied simply as she was pulled away.

Kirishima and I walked over to our own, "Remember not to use your damn hardening quirk, dumb hair. I don't need any fucking bruises before tomorrow."

He held his fist up as if flexing his arm, "It only happened twice and it was an automatic reaction."

We got into our fighting stances and I started. I charged him and threw a high kick but he easily blocked, grabbed my leg to knock me off balance while throwing a punch. I recovered, dodged, and countered with a punch of my own. He dropped and swept at my ankles with a low kick. I jumped back before leaping forward and kneeing him in the face.

He groaned rubbing his face but smiled, "How's that for not using my quirk? Took a knee to my own face, so manly right?"

He gave me no time answer as he charged me. We continued our match for a while with both of us occasionally landing hits. Kirishima stayed true to his word about trying to avoid activating his Quirk. Near the end, he ran to me with his arm ready for a right hook but switched to a high kick at the last second. I swiftly raised my hands and grabbed his leg, twisting it. His balance was at my mercy so I grabbed his face and slammed him into the ground with force. The impact caused him to cough.

"Come on loser," I held out my hand, "It's time for cool-down stretches."

He grabbed my hand to stand and we walked over to our mats. The girls, who presumably finished before us and decided to watch, followed us.

"Jeez, Bakugo!" Ashido said with what sounded like concern, "If you don't even pull punches on your own best friend, I can't imagine what Uraraka would look after sparring with you."

"What the fuck are you talking about?" I started my stretches.

She started as well, "Let me train her for a bit before you spar with her again."

"That's up to her, alien."

"It's Ashido!" She turned to Uraraka, "What do you say?"

Uraraka glanced at me for a few moments then back to Ashido, "After watching him today I can see he was holding back for me last week. Yeah, let's do it."

After we had all cleaned up and dressed into civilian clothes Ashido still insisted on going out for ice cream. Once again it was them against me.

"Come on man!" Kirishima shouted with excitement.

"No. I'm not wasting my money on that shit." I held my bag over my shoulder.

"I'll pay for you then. Think of it as a thank you for helping me." He was walking backwards to look at me.

'Hope he trips.' I thought menacingly before answering, "I gave you my fucking answer, idiot."

By the time we reached the front gates, that fucking bastard had somehow convinced me to join. Ashido mentioned a place she went to in Tokyo. We walked to the train station and got on a train with a stop near the shop. Kirishima and the girls chatted but I just put on my headphones.

Once we got to the shop I realized why Ashido insisted on this one. The ice cream was shaped into zoo animals and fruits cut into shapes like eyes or ears to add to the effect. 'How the fuck did I get dragged into this?'

"Bakugo. I told you I'd pay so go ahead and pick something out!" Kirishima had a stupid grin on his face as he looked at all the ice cream designs. 'He's eating this childish shit up.'

"Bastard, I can pay for myself!" I almost yelled.

Kirishima ordered a cookies-n-cream bear, Ashido a boysenberry cheetah, Uraraka a strawberry pig, and I went for a simple vanilla seal with almost nothing on it. 'That looks fucking stupid.'

After they finished paying for their animal ice cream cones, Ashido and Kirishima chose a table in the corner. Uraraka, who was in front of me pulled out a damn coin purse and started to count out 1, 5, and 10 yen coins. I rolled my eyes, 'My damn dessert will be melted by the time she finishes.'

After about 4 minutes of her counting and completely emptying her coin purse, she discovered that she didn't have enough. She started to fret and apologize for possibly wasting their product and time. I huffed, grabbed my wallet, pulled out enough yen to cover us both, and shoved it to the cashier.

Uraraka gasped and turned to look at me, "Bakugo it's fine. I don't-"

"Just go sit down, round-face," I said waiting for my change.

"Thank you." She smiled sheepishly before going to sit down.

As she walked away a warm sensation engulfed my left wrist, the damn Soul Mark. I scowled and looked at her to see if she experienced anything. I noticed her head tilt to look down at her wrist before turning my attention back to the cashier.

I sat down with them and only joined in the conversation when asked a question. They talked about heroes, training, and most of all, the written exams and what subjects they felt they did great on and what ones they struggled with. They began talking about tomorrow's practical.

"I heard somewhere that a third-year revealed it's just the robots from the entrance exams." Ashido happily said.

"That's so great! This will be a cinch!" Kirishima almost yelled.

Relief washed over Uraraka, "That sounds good. I was seriously dreading that I might fail."

"If that's the case, this exam will be a fucking joke," I grumbled before standing to throw away my trash and heading to the door. I was ready to go home and rest for tomorrow.

We all boarded the train and head home in the same direction. I listened to them while I played a game on my phone. They all chatted excitedly about summer break and what was in store for training camp until Kirishima and Ashido got off at their stop.

Uraraka and I rode the train in silence until she hesitantly asked me, "Hey Bakugo?"

I side glanced at her, "What?"

She wrung her hands together before saying, "Did anything happen with your Soul Mark earlier?"

"I felt it too." I replied, looking back down at my game, "And in case you're wondering, no, I haven't looked the damn thing yet."

"Should we look at our Marks together? After that rash appeared I'm a little nervous."

'That's a stupid idea, but she looks like a fucking scared little kitten. Fuck it.' I fixed my gaze on her, "Sure, whatever."

We held our left wrists out in front of ourselves. She slowly lifted her wristband but I just yanked mine of my arm. What I saw confused me and she held the same expression. The inner-circle had turned red and there was a new white circle surrounding the entire Mark. White except for a small portion that was also red. I shoved my wristband back on and sighed.

She replaced hers as well and looked at me with confusion and worry written in her expression, "What do you think it means?"

"I have no damn clue." Was my simple answer. I had a million things running through my head about what it meant.

We sat in silence once again as we both pondered what the hell our Soul Mark was doing.

She eventually broke the tense moment saying, "Thank you again for the ice cream Bakugo."

I stood up because we were arriving at my stop, "Don't mention it."

"Have a good night Bakugo! Good luck tomorrow!" She waved with a beaming smile.

"You too." I stepped off the train and headed home.

When I first walked in, my mom hounded me about why I was so late but calmed down after I yelled that I was out with some classmates. It brought a smile to her face for some fucking reason. Tomorrow was the exams and I needed rest but I just laid in bed staring at my Soul Mark pondering the reasons behind this new development.
