Chapter 3
Chuck swam up to Sarah and slid his arms around her like a warm blanket, purposely dragging his lips up her back as she froze, for she was still enjoying the affects of their romp in the linen closet and wandering eyes of the patrons of the hotel. Chuck swam released his lips and swam around her facing her while wading in the water. Sarah lowered herself as she watched the people sitting along side the pool continuing to watch them. Chuck tried to focus on his job of watching who entered the pool area but her chest, more importantly her breasts were a bit overwhelming; but one consolation she was his. Chuck looked up and saw Bryce laying on the charm with a hot redhead unaware that there was trouble a brewing.
Chuck swam near the edge as Sarah rested her arms on the deck of the pool. "Bogey on your six. Going to come up the other end. You take the front."
"Ok and I will let Casey know." Sarah got out of the water knowing that eyes were on her she didn't care, but she knew that Chuck would have a harder time with it. She loved him for that and how protective he was. She still had a way to go to have him completely forgive her even though he said he forgave her. But she was grateful for where they were now. Sarah motioned to Casey as he slipped out with his gun by his side. Sarah walked over to her chair and slipped her wrap on around her waist and walked with towards Casey as Chuck came up the other side. The three watched the man who had way too much clothes on for sitting by the pool and his excessive sweating gave him away as he walked near them. Chuck snapped his fingers at Bryce just before he was going to reciprocate a kiss from that beautiful woman. Bryce let go of her hand and excused himself and followed Chuck. The man they followed received a warm welcome by Casey and Sarah. Casey dragged him into a small closet area that housed some extra chairs. Casey slammed the guy onto the pile. Casey held him back with his hand against his chest. "Who are you and who sent you?"
The little man reminded Chuck of Danny Devito's character on the TV Show Taxi. "We knew you'd show up."
"Who knew?" Sarah asked. Chuck shook his head as this guy was not in the intersect. They continued to interrogate him but got no where. Sarah convinced the three to let him go. She motioned to Casey to slip him a bug. So, Casey planted a bug on the back of the man's cheap suit. The man split and ran out of the hotel. Sarah walked back with Chuck, Bryce turned around. "Why did you let him go!" Bryce ticked off because one he had to leave a girl and because it was the only lead, they had since arriving.
Bryce went back to his lady friend and Chuck headed upstairs. Sarah and Casey conversed in the hall outside Chuck's room. Casey waited till the hall was clear and they were out of the view of the camera. "Do you think that it was a good decision to let him go?" Sarah looking back and forth down the hall.
"Chuck didn't flash?"
"It happens." Casey looked at her.
"I know but he hasn't been flashing like he used to since I got back." Sarah looked at Chuck's door.
"Have you two talk?"
Sarah instantly thought about her coming over and their first time, then after they fought and earlier.
"We have but there's still a part of him that hasn't forgiven me, I can sense it."
"Well we know that when he gets emotional, it wreaks havoc on his ability to flash."
Sarah didn't need the reminder.
"I will turn the bug on and let you know if anything arises, you make it right with Chuck."
Sarah nodded then slipped into her room and showered then headed next door. She knocked and was glad that Chuck opened up. Apart of her wanted to jump him right there but she decided to enter cautiously. Chuck had showered and his hair was still damp, and he smelled amazing so when he turned to give her a hug, it startled her. She welcomed his arms and his kiss was sweet. Chuck grabbed some water from the fridge and gave Sarah one. "Thanks."
"So now what?"
"We're not sure, who the guy is, and you didn't flash?"
"No, but he knew us?"
Sarah looked at him. "Right, he knew us?"
"Maybe, again we aren't sure so its better we stay here till Casey figures out who he is."
"Great, I didn't want to be here anyways and now this."
Chuck looked up at her and the look she had on her face was that their time in the utility closet was a mistake. Chuck turned her face to face him. "It's the mission, not us."
"I know."
Chuck looked at her.
"Do you? I know that you want to ask me something, and we ain't going anywhere."
"Is there still something bother you?"
Chuck got up and took his water and stood by the window. Sarah continued to look at him. "I'm fine."
Sarah walked up to him and touched his arm. "You may be fine, but that was not a I'm fine."
"Don't get me wrong being here with you is great."
"But?"
"Like I said it's this mission."
"If it's not us then its Bryce? Chuck, I have apologized over and over again what else do I have do to make you realize I love you and not Bryce."
"Take me home."
Chuck eventually looked up. Sarah looked at him with sad eyes, of one who had just borne her soul. "Did you say that you love me?"
Sarah was quiet but it was a different quiet, what she said she couldn't take back and it was not something Sarah said lightly and to just anyone. She froze in her spot as Chuck turned and placed his lips on hers. It was like one of those teen age movies that Chuck had talked about and that she secretly watched when she was gone. Then he picked her up and held her. "I love you too."
"Now, do you believe me and I'm not just saying it to make you stay or make you hear what you want to hear, but that I love you and I told you the other day that I was falling for you. I have had feelings for you for a long time but I felt that I had to leave and leaving would make those feelings go away, but how could I leave, and honesty I was tired of running, knowing that you had been so sweet, caring, adorable and I remember fantastic and the one man who knew me, and loved me with all my faults. So when I heard we were coming back I hoped for the best and sleeping with you was the one thing I knew for sure that I wanted to have happen but I didn't come over expecting it to happen, it just did."
"I know."
"Chuck I…."
Chuck lowered her to the floor then placed his fingers over her lips silencing her.
"I love you; I hate this mission; I hate the fact that Bryce is here and not knowing his motives that could put you and me in danger."
"Say it again?"
"I hate Bryce?"
"No, the other thing."
Chuck smiled. "The love part?"
"Yes, the love part."
"I love you."
Sarah grabbed his water bottle and put it on the table. "Prove it."
Chuck kissed her softly as she grabbed his shirt and pulled it off him. He reached for her and picked her up by the armpits and tossed her onto the bed. She bounced then giggled as Chuck gave her one of his eyebrow dances. Chuck slipped her sandals off then slid his hands up her bare legs. Sarah unbuttoned her shorts as Chuck grabbed them by the hem and pulled them off. Chuck slipped his jeans off Sarah was hoping that he might have gone commando, but he still looked sexy in his boxer briefs. Chuck crawled up towards Sarah as she laid her head on his pillow. Chuck slid to his side and caressed her legs as he brought them in line to his hips. He kissed her chest then her neck while Sarah tried to keep up but lost and fell further into the pillow. Chuck slid his hand around her back and flicked her bra releasing its hold on the girls. He spent some there making Sarah grin and dig her hands in his hair. She brought his head to hers and kissed him hard as she had him focus on her lips while she removed their last pieces of clothing. Chuck slid upwards taking Sarah with him. They rolled together allowing their movements to dictate the speed and intensity. Chuck looked at Sarah as kept her eyes closed. Chuck whispered her name and she slowly opened them. "I want to look at you."
Sarah focussed on his brown eyes as their movements sped up. She knew how it was going to end and to look at him when it happened just added to how much she loved him. Sarah held him close and whispered in his ear. "Don't move yet."
Chuck nodded inside her neck and stayed close. Sarah knew he didn't want to squish her but a little squishiness from Chuck was something she needed right now.
Chuck eventually rolled over, and Sarah slid her arm over his chest. She liked how his chest hairs felt and how she had permission to touch him the way she wanted to for along time. Chuck slid his left arm behind him resting his head on his arm as he welcomed her with his other arm. Sarah giggled. "What's so funny?"
"This."
"Is that what you think of us." Sarah looking at him.
"No, you you were wow!"
"You were amazing as well."
"I know." Chuck laughed.
"Now what?"
"Nothing, you're not moving from this bed."
"What about Casey?"
"He'll call. And until then it is my job to watch you." Sarah got up and straddle Chuck hips. "So that is what I am going to do."
Chuck looked at her then slipped his arm out behind him and placed it on her hips. He tried to sit up, but Sarah pushed him down, he tried again and this time she held him down at the wrists. Chuck smiled. He gave her a look like 'that's going to stop me from enjoying you?' Then Sarah realized that the girls were right in his face. "Okay you win. I can stay right here." Chuck grinned as Sarah sat up and bit her lip slightly.
Chuck sat up and held her in one hand as he braced himself up with the pillows. Bending his knees slightly, Sarah leaned back as she raised herself upwards then back down onto Chucks lap. Chuck watched her take over and every dream he ever had with a girl and especially with Sarah was coming true. Chuck leaned closer to her as she held his face close to her chest as they rode another exciting ride together. Their lips kept a constant and welcoming distraction to what was brewing. Chuck leaned back into pillow which allowed Sarah to drag her hands up his chest and knead his pecks in her hands.
Sarah covered herself with the bed sheet and snuggled into her pillow as Chuck faced her lying on his stomach. They played with their fingers and made funny adorable glances at each other. They were finally happy despite those silent fears that kept creeping in once and while at the same time trying to focus on this moment and seeing the person in front of them. Chuck held her fingers to his lips and kissed them softly then held them close to his cheek. "Sarah?"
"Yeah?"
"If things were different and we could have been like this months ago, when would you think it would have happened?"
Sarah looked at him. "Every night?"
"Wh-at?"
"Chuck I fell for you a long time ago and it killed me that I had to say goodbye to you every night and not take it further and I liked it when we were on stake outs and it was just you and me so any moment before I left. But if I was to pick a time it would have the night we went out for our first second date. And that almost kiss before you flashed."
"Well not one of my finest moments."
"But if I could do a do over that night would have been it."
Sarah looked at Chuck "And you?"
"Wow I have to pick just one?"
Sarah blushed. "Yes, just one."
"Well there was the hotel and the shower, too obvious."
"Okay?"
"The time when Roan made us kiss in my kitchen could have been a great time but."
"Chuck don't go there. We know he has a way of making our moments not happen, so if that was the night then it was your time." "No, your right but even the time you came over and I made you stay in my room to make my Ellie and Devon believe that I was getting lucky, doesn't count. Honestly, I didn't think it would ever happen, that this would have happen to me especially with someone like you, with someone like me."
Sarah opened her arms and Chuck moved into her arms. Chuck laid his head on her chest. "Chuck, I love you and I always have." Chuck looked at her. "Then can I just say, thankyou."
"Thank you?"
"For loving a guy like me."
"I should thank you for all that you have done for me especially for not giving up on me when you had thousands of reasons to."
"Then I will gladly take every day, night, moment as a win win no matter what could have happen, what would have happened and even those unanswered what if's."
Chuck leaned closer and grazed her lips with his, caressing her face as she pressed her lips firmly to his. Chuck slid his arms around her back and held her close as they continued to lazily kiss till early evening.
Two days later
Sarah rolled over as Casey called again with an update and it wasn't what they wanted to hear. Beckman wanted Sarah and Bryce to follow up on their previous mission to see if there were any connections to the man that had come to the hotel. Casey had located him in a restaurant near by that Bryce knew well. Chuck walked in and saw Sarah put her phone down and the look on her face wasn't one she woke up with.
"Now what?"
Sarah covered herself up. "I'm just the messenger."
"What?"
Sarah covered herself up. It had been a habit with the two of them and sleeping together and arguing. "Chuck, we think that along with the chip that Juliette had they were also looking for a code."
"A code?"
"When you flashed on the chip did you see anything else, hear anything?"
"No why?"
"Bryce thinks that there could be a series of numbers attached to the chip and once it was looked at you were able to decipher a code that could be used trigger any drone and fixed targets. It was the main reason that Bryce and I came home."
"And your telling me this now?"
"We had confirmation that Juliette knew about it and she we think that she has told Pablo."
"So that is why we are back here to snuff out Pablo and use what Bryce believes is on the chip. When did he find this?"
Sarah grabbed her shirt.
"When did he know?"
Chuck looked at Sarah "I'm guessing early on."
"And you still stayed."
"Chuck, we went over this. I didn't know till recently and that is I why came home. I had to make sure, and so in the process."
"You stayed with him down here already having the information."
"And now I might have access to weapons and who knows what else in my head besides the constant fear, anxiety."
Sarah got up but Chuck put his hand up. "I'm going back to my room. I need to be alone. He grabbed his clothes and slipped his jeans on and quickly slipped his shirt on and left.
Sarah got dressed and called Bryce to have him meet her and Casey down in the lounge. Bryce sat down and ordered a scotch and sat down. Sarah and Casey didn't look to pleased. "You're not drinking?"
"No, I need a clear head."
"Well this doesn't sound good."
"Who are you talking to?"
Bryce took a sip. "Talking to?"
"Yes."
"I don't know what you are talking about?"
"Who is giving you the intel on the Intersect?"
"What intel?"
"Codes?"
"How did you know that they would be in the Intersect and that Juliette knows about them? And why are we finding this out now, when we could have been ahead of this months ago?"
Bryce sat up. "Frankly I don't like to be accused of something I know nothing about?"
"The codes Larkin? And I'm guessing you knew that guy that showed up because you went back to conversing with the red head and paid no more attention to it or to Chuck's safety. Which tells us that you knew that the guy wasn't a threat."
Bryce took another sip then looked at Casey first then at Sarah.
"It's complicated."
"Your favourite words."
"Ok, I had us stay down here longer than you wanted to be down here."
Sarah got up. Bryce reached for her arms. "Sit please."
Sarah sat down, this time she needed a drink.
"When I was looking into the chip and found out that we were on it and that Chuck's identity was on it, I failed to mention that there were also other things on there that I needed to get more intel on. Who made the chip? Why were the four of us on there and what else was on there to link us with the human Intersect."
"And that took that long to do that?"
"Yes and no. But as soon as I knew that what we had was what we needed we came back."
"And that was?"
"I had to meet with Orion?"
"Orion?"
"Yeah, the one behind the Intersect and Chuck's dad?"
"Chuck's dad?"
"And the guy the other day?"
"Just a messenger, on our side, that came by to let me know that they were ready to go."
"So that is why you didn't go after him?"
"Yeah."
"Great, now what and who's going to tell Chuck that his dad created the very thing that he despises."
"No one!"
Sarah looked at Bryce. "No one must know that Chuck's dad is behind the Intersect, especially Chuck. For his safety and Ellie and for you two as well."
"And you get the privilege."
"Orion approached me years ago and when I heard that Chuck was going to be recruited, I told Orion and he had me come up with something to stop it from happening."
"But he got the Intersect anyways."
"I know, and Orion wasn't happy at first but he accepted my reasons after I told him that what he had developed was not going to be used the way he wanted it to, so I took it upon me to steal it and put it somewhere safe. That way Orion and I can keep it safe along with you two."
Sarah had more questions than answers as Casey and her left Bryce.
Sarah waited till morning to talk to Chuck. When he came down and joined her, he reached for her hand and squeezed it then let go when Casey showed up.
Chuck sat back in the booth and listened to the latest.
"So, this chip holds more than what we first knew." Casey looked at Chuck.
"That is what Sarah told me. "Aren't we going to wait for Bryce?" Sarah shook her head.
"No, I spoke to Beckman and we are going ahead without him."
Chuck looked up. "Beckman wants to make sure that you are our main priority and by the looks of things he isn't."
Sarah drew her eyes over to him. "The longer we are down here the sooner they will know that you are here, and they can come after you."
Casey looked at Chuck. "We need to figure out what they want or figure out what this thread is."
Chuck looked at Casey. "Why did you say thread?"
Casey looked at Chuck. "I don't know. I guess your braininess has finally broke through."
Chuck chuckled. Casey looked at Chuck and for probably the first time he spoke Chuck. Casey continued. "We know that the Intersect was originally created as a tool. Then the CIA and the NSA agreed to upload its intel and share it. Bryce stole it to prevent Fulcrum and anyone else from getting its intel. But no one looked at the science and the numbers. I'm not a math or science guy but with all the 1's and 0's you seem to always talk about and that Matrix mumble jumble, there has to be some equation or pattern that was added either by choice or by chance. And if someone knew of said pattern or code, they could manipulate it and create anything they wanted, along with the added intel privileges the Intersect gave them. And if there is a code, we need to find out what it is where it is and how we get to it before they do."
Chuck looked at Casey with appreciation. Casey sat back. "Well don't get all emotional and clingy Bartowski."
"Can we hug?"
"No!"
Chuck laughed then Sarah and even Casey joined in.
Chuck finished his breakfast.
Heading back up to their rooms. Chuck pressed the elevator button to go up. "Well the only way we can get to the science is talk to the source."
"Bryce?"
Chuck looked at Sarah.
"No, the one who created it."
"Well Bryce isn't telling."
"That's fine, don't need him. I think that I can find him."
Sarah and Casey were very concerned. They didn't want to open up another Pandora's box. The elevator opened at headed up. As soon as the doors opened, Chuck half ran to his door as Sarah and followed and Casey went to his room. Chuck grabbed his laptop and started typing. Sarah sat down with him. "What are you doing?"
"I'm going deep here, and I need to know if you're on board. If we start with this there's no turning back. No more lies or secrets."
Chuck typed away and created an impressive algorithm and connected it to a search engine that any Governmental service would appreciate. Hours later Chuck finally got up and turned to face Sarah.
"Now what?" Expecting more computer stuff.
"We wait?"
"Then what, and what if this person doesn't want to be found?"
"They will?"
"And how do you know that you can trust them?"
"I don't but if it comes to finding them, hopefully this thing in my head will help me with that. Whoever created it had to put their own stamp in it?"
"Stamp?"
"Yeah, a stamp is a tag or identification that programmers use to tag their work just like graffiti artists tag their work. Codes and decrypted key stroke that are unique to them."
"And you think you can find it."
"In time and then we can go home."
Chuck crouched down in front of Sarah and grabbed her hands. Sarah smiled and hoped that this was going to end well.
Casey came and went dropping off coffee and sandwiches as Chuck and Sarah looked at the screen at Chuck's search engine.
Sarah leaned over and tried to kiss Chuck and Chuck tried to kiss her back and still watch the screen.
Sarah looked at him. "Wanna go on a date?"
"A real date? Been there done that. I recall Chinese, and Casey smashing through the restaurant and Colt."
"Well how about a fake date?"
"And what would this fake date consist of?"
"Burgers, fries."
"Sounds promising."
"Or better yet for now, the hotel pop machine, peanuts and maybe alcohol."
"Not sure about the alcohol but a coke or pepsi will do."
Chuck smiled as Sarah got up and kissed the top of his head. Sarah returned with a small stash. Chuck turned and rested his head on her shoulder. "Does this fake date include kissing maybe hand holding."
"For now?"
Chuck just grinned. Sarah held Chucks hand in hers then placed it to her face. "Am I distracting you."
A little while later…
"No. It's nice."
Chuck continued to look at the screen. Sarah kissed his wrist which made his eye wander. Then she kissed his cheek. Chuck turned to kiss her lips but stops when he noticed something.
Chuck and Sarah noticed an email notification pop up. Chuck looked at it then Sarah nodded. He opened it up and a video appeared. Chuck and Sarah look at the two minute video. Chuck and Sarah see Bryce talking to a man. Chuck freezes. "Chuck talk to me?"
"He's the one we've been looking for the one that started this?"
Chuck gets up. Chuck looks at Sarah. "And I flashed."
Chuck ran down the hall as Sarah followed and pounded on Casey's door as she ran down the hall. Casey followed and they both ran following Chuck out of the hotel. He ran down the street two or more blocks as Sarah and Casey tired to keep up. Chuck stopped and saw Bryce. Just then Bryce walked into view and looked up. "Chuck I can explain."
Chuck threw a punch and Bryce went down. "Where is he?"
"Chuck your dad doesn't want..."
"Where is he?" Chuck grabbed Bryce's jacket and threw another punch. Sarah skidded to a stop and grabbed his arm as Casey pulled him off Bryce. Chuck looked up and saw something and stepped off of Bryce pulling away from Sarah and Casey. Chuck ran ahead to what looked like his dad as he got closer, he screamed losing sight of his dad. At the same time a sharp pain crosses his eyes. Sarah comes up to him. "Sarah something's wrong."
"What is it?"
"I can't see."
