*June 14th, 2015*
Caroline emerged from her bedroom where her mom and closest girlfriends were waiting. Instead of her mother's wedding dress, which Caroline already wore at the chapel two months before, she opted for a white lace dress that fell halfway down her thighs and had long sleeves that flew out at the forearm like wings. The dress was loose fitting, which is perfect since she thinks she is starting to show. The neckline was a v-dip, which she had stitched together because they were a tad bit too low in her opinion. There is still a v-line, but it is a reasonable dip. Her hair was done in a half-braided crown, with her blonde locks falling beyond her shoulders. She tipped off the look with three-inch white heels.
"You look beautiful!" Elena, Bonnie and Liz all gasped.
"I can't believe my baby is getting married," Liz breathed in a sob.
"She's technically already married," Katherine pointed out. "I can't believe you get two weddings."
"The first one was a formality because we couldn't wait!" Caroline explained for the billionth time. "This was always meant to be the celebration. I'm so happy that those of you who made it to the first ceremony did," she smiled at her friends. Elena, Bonnie, Sage and Lexi all smiled.
Rebekah said, "Well, I wouldn't miss my brother getting married."
"Are you ready to go out there?" Elena asked her best friend. "I believe all the guests have arrived."
"It's now or never," Caroline grinned.
Elena and Bonnie hooked the bride's arms on theirs and the three best friends made their way through Klaus and Caroline's house until they reached the backyard, with the rest of the girls in tow.
Elena and Bonnie stood on the porch with their blonde friend. Everyone in the yard turned to see the three girls.
"With our pleasure and honor, we introduce you to Mrs. Caroline Mikaelson!" Elena announced.
Everyone in the yard clapped as Klaus made his way to his bride. He grabbed her hands and leaned into kiss her.
Kol and Jeremy started howling at the couple, while everyone else clapped.
Among the guests were Jenna and Alaric, Tyler and Liv, Jeremy and Anna, Damon, Lexi, April, Luke, Enzo and Rose, and Stefan brought the new girl he's been seeing, Valerie. Hayley and Jackson arrived with Hope. Davina, Kaleb, Marcel and Camille drove up New Orleans to see their old friend get married. Of course, Klaus' siblings and their partners and kids were there and Caroline's parents. Caroline invited a lot of extended family and people she knew from school and work. Not to mention, she also invited Tyler's mom and Bonnie's parents. Between the 30 close friends, another thirty or so Forbes family members, a dozen more from her mom's side, and another dozen from medical school and the doctor's office she had first interned at and will begin working at next month, there was close to a hundred people celebrating the love between Klaus and Caroline.
Although Caroline did have bridesmaids, since she is not wearing her wedding dress, she didn't require any of them to wear a bridesmaid dress. When Klaus and Caroline were preparing for their small ceremony last month, Caroline went shopping with Elena and Bonnie to pick out a bridesmaid dress for them. She was planning on going with all of her bridesmaids—including Katherine, Rebekah, Sage and Lexi—but since it was so last minute, she decided to just get dresses for her two co-maids of honor. They had worn dark blue dresses that fell to their knees. The dress was lace, with a dark fabric under the lace along their bodies, but at the top above their chest and shoulders it was plain lace. The sleeves were short, barely reaching past their shoulders. Despite being told they could wear something else, the two friends agreed to wear their dresses again. And so, the four remaining bridesmaids all wore dark blue dresses.
"Shall we give our speeches now?" Klaus whispered to his wife.
"Our vows?" she asked. He nodded and kissed her cheek. "Already?"
"Why not?" he gave her the devilish smile that she fell in love with. Well, that smile and the one that brightens his face and it only happens when he is with her. You know that smile that people do when they're really in love, their smile is so wide you fear their mouth might fall off? She loves that smile.
Caroline nodded and turning to her family and friends. "Good afternoon, everyone! Thank you all for coming! Sorry for, I don't know, already getting married?" Everyone laughed, while Marcel shouted, "We forgive you!" Caroline smiled as she continued her speech. "We picked this date and had everything arranged, you all RSVPed, everything was all set to go, but then there was an opening in like five days to get married at the chapel and so we were like let's do it! So, we called all of our closest friends and said 'if you can make it, great, if not, June 14th is still the day. Here we are, on June 14th, on the day where I can stand in front everyone who has ever made a difference to either of us and say that Niklaus Joseph Mikaelson is my husband. And it is the happiest day of my life," she finished her introduction with tears brimming her eyes. She is already emotional because of the pregnancy (it's been over a week and she still hasn't blurted a word!). If she's on the verge of tears now, imagine when the actual vows are being spoken. They've already heard it before, but why not just cry all over again?
"Why did you have to use my full name?" Klaus laughed with a disgusted look on his face. "But I agree with Caroline: this is the happiest day of my life and I couldn't be more grateful that you are all here with us today. Especially," he paused. "My daughter, Hope, who I didn't meet too long ago, but who Caroline and I have welcomed with open arms." Everyone clapped as Hope shyly waved from her spot besides her mother.
Hayley smiled at the mention of her daughter. She is beyond grateful that Hope and Klaus have a great relationship, and that Caroline has been like a fairy godmother to the little girl. Caroline never once treated Hope or Hayley with any disrespected—she welcomed Hope with open arms and befriended Hayley from the start. There wasn't a bad bone in that woman's body and Hayley couldn't think of a better woman to be her daughter's stepmother.
"It is time for us to give our vows," Caroline announced. To appear as part of the show, the bridesmaids appeared on Caroline's side while Klaus' groomsmen moved to stand by him. Elena, Bonnie, Katherine, Sage, Rebekah and Lexi stood facing Damon, Kol, Elijah, Finn, Matt and Stefan. Elena and Bonnie were co-maids of honor while Stefan was Klaus' best man.
"Caroline," Klaus began. "I fell in love with you the moment that I met you. You were just so beautiful, and, despite being heartbroken, were so kind to me. I didn't hide the fact that I loved you. I embraced it and let you know every day that I would wait for you, however long it takes. You weren't ready for a relationship then, but you wanted to be my friend and that was more than I could've asked for. You became my best friend. I couldn't imagine my life without you, and I still can't. Before today, my favorite day was the day you said you wanted to go out with me. Yes, everybody, Caroline asked me out. Like I said: you are my best friend. You're so full of light and kindness, you're super smart and caring and can possess a child-like nature yet still be mature, you love me more than I thought anyone could, and you support me beyond belief. You supported be in becoming a father to a little eight-year-old girl whom I never knew existed until six months ago. Not only are you so supportive of me getting to know her, but you wanted to be a part of her life, and you have no idea how much that means to me. And to Hope, too, she just adores you, and I know you adore her. You found ways to make boring things fun and always taught respect and kindness. You've been an amazing step-mother and I know you will make the best mother to our child—our future children—" he tried to save himself, but some people already gasped through the audience. Caroline smiled through her tears. "I love you so much and I cannot wait to start a family with you. To start the rest of our lives with you, to grow old with you."
When he spoke these vows the first time, everything was the same except he didn't know she was pregnant yet. He meant to say, "our future children," but now knowing about the pregnancy, he may have just fucked up the secret. Caroline laughed in her mind that at least it wasn't her who exposed their secret—that is, if anyone figured it out. They wanted to wait until after they were back from their honeymoon to tell everyone because then at that point, she would be ten, almost eleven weeks.
"Klaus," Caroline began. "I love you so much that words cannot even describe how I am feeling, especially today. When I met you, I was hurting… I honestly didn't think I would fall in love again, especially not so soon. But you broke down my defenses. How dedicated you were to me, without even dating me, was something that no guy has ever been with me before. Even as a friend, you were so loyal to me. You were never snarky to me—even if the worst moods, you always managed to stay kind around me. I fell in love you so fast and so hard, and I hated myself because I kept you waiting for as long as I did. But I think a part of me enjoyed the chase and I was scared that once we had each other, it would be over before it truly started. But the chase wasn't the best part. Being together is my favorite part. Whether we're cooking dinner together, or you're painting while I'm reading, or we go mini golfing, or just sleeping next to each other. It makes me happy, happier than anyone could ever know. I was blessed because I met you, and now I'm marrying you and we… we'll start a family soon. I don't know who else to do that with. You're the best person to do this with. Seeing you with Hope assures me that you will be, no, are a great father. You don't have to be scared. Even if you are, we will do this together every step of the way. I love you." By the end of her speech, Caroline's face was soaked in tears. Her makeup was light today and her waterproof mascara stayed intact.
The married couple stared at each other, holding hands and smiling like idiots. It wasn't until Marcel yelled, "Hey, are you going to kiss the bride or what?!" did they break out of their trance and lean forward into a passionate kiss. Cheers erupted throughout the backyard. They pulled away from their kiss and turned towards their audience, hugging each other and Caroline leaned her head against his cheek as they smiled out to all their friends and family.
…
Caroline spent most of the party dancing with Klaus, then Elena and Bonnie and Katherine, her mom, Klaus again, Elena and Bonnie for a million songs, and Stefan once. Her feet were killing her, so after a couple of hours she decided to take a break. She sat down with Elena and Bonnie under a little tent in the corner. A lot of people were still dancing, and her extended family were in the house talking to each other. The kids were playing football with Kol, Matt and Tyler. The littlest kids, Hayden and Sophia, were being passed from guest to guest who wanted to hold them, with either Elijah or Katherine standing over them frantically.
"Wow, we haven't danced like that since the cheerleading squad!" Elena laughed as she took of her heels. "And in heels no less."
Bonnie chuckled. "I know what you mean. I didn't party much in college because of Emma, so it's definitely been a long time since the three of us had this much fun."
"And sober!" Caroline giggled. She couldn't drink for obvious reasons, but neither Elena nor Bonnie had a drink today either. She wondered why but didn't think too much of it since sometimes people aren't in a mood for it. At Matt and Rebekah's wedding, Caroline only had a glass a wine. Now that she's older, she realizes you don't need alcohol to have fun.
"True, at most of these things we do have a little fun…" Bonnie smiled.
"Hey, we were the life of the party!" Caroline had a point.
"So, uh, Care…" Elena started. "Was there something in Klaus' speech that we should know?" She raised an eyebrow.
Caroline vigorously shook her head. "No! He just made a slip up of the words. Happens to the best of us." Yes! I'm pregnant and I'm dying to tell you two!
Bonnie and Elena nodded, then moments later forgetting the conversation. Elena's glance landed on Liv who was speaking with Tyler's mom.
"So, Liv's met Carol. How do you think that's going?" Elena asked.
Caroline laughed. "I'm sure they adore each other. Liv makes Tyler happy, and that's all Carol should want. Plus, Carol isn't that hard of a mother to please."
"True," Bonnie agreed. "Ugh, neither of my parents have said a word to each other this entire party. And my dad keeps trying to talk to Kol! He better not have said anything embarrassing about me—"
"You better hope Kol didn't make any sex jokes," Caroline teased.
Bonnie's face went red. "I-I should go check on them…" With those words, she was up and away.
Elena and Caroline laughed at their friend as she hurried frantically over to Kol, who was now twirling Emma.
"Kol!" Bonnie shouted as she made her way over to her boyfriend.
"Hey, sweetheart," he grinned as he leaned down to give her a kiss.
"EW! Gross!" Emma cried before she ran off and tackled her Uncle Matt to the ground, thus prompting Hope, Chris, and Tate to do so too while Tyler stood laughing. Rebekah, who was on the sidelines talking to April, giggled as she watched her husband pretend wrestle with the kids and beam with pride that she knew he'd make a great dad.
"What's up?" Kol chuckled as he pulled away from the kiss, choosing to ignore the scene unfolding at the other end of the yard.
"Just wanted to check up on you," she smiled as she wrapped her arms around his neck. "And just wanted to make sure you didn't disclose any private matters to my dad."
Kol threw his head back laughing. "Of course, I didn't. I wouldn't want to get murdered by your father."
"You're speaking a little too soon," she murmured as she rested her hands on her stomach. "Both of my parents are going to kill us when they find out I got pregnant out of wedlock again," she whispered.
Kol kissed her head and gently brushed his hands across her stomach. He didn't want too much attention on him touching her stomach in case anyone happened to look over at them.
"When can we start telling people?" he asked.
"In a couple of weeks," she promised. She so desperately wanted to tell at least Caroline and Elena, but she didn't want to ruin her best friend's big day. Thus, she decided to wait until Caroline came back from her honeymoon. She wouldn't even tell Elena until she would be able to tell them both.
"If your parents are gonna be mad, maybe we can have a shotgun wedding!" Kol suggested.
Bonnie rolled her eyes. "If I'm going to marry you, it's not going to be because I'm pregnant."
"Good, because if I do propose, I want to do it right." Kol leaned down to capture her lips into another kiss. Before it could escalate, Bonnie pulled away.
"Wait, what?" She was referring to him talking about proposing. Was he planning on proposing?
He grinned and kissed her nose before leaping into the air and running away. "I'm not gonna tell!" He did a high squeal and ran away towards Kaleb and Davina in another corner of the yard.
…
Stefan's date went to go get a drink and some snack, so Lexi took this opportunity to run over and harass him.
"Are you going to have slutty wedding sex?" she asked as she snuck up behind him and put her hands over his eyes.
He slapped her hands away. "No, shut up and go away," he hissed at his best friend.
"Come on, there's no one here for me. Can I pleeeeaaasseeee live vicariously through you?" she gave him the puppy dog eyes, but he just rolled his.
"Lexi, go away," he shooed her away as Valerie came walking back over to him.
"Fine," she shrugged. "But I'm kidnapping you tomorrow to get details."
He turned around to mouth, "No, I really like this girl!"
She grinned mischievously as she walked away.
…
"So, how do you like Tyler's mom?" Caroline grinned as she bumped her elbow into Liv.
Liv gave a small smile. "She's nice. Can you believe this is the first time I met her?"
"Now that she's retired from being the mayor, she does do a lot of travelling. She doesn't come back to Mystic Falls very often," Caroline explained. "A lot of people don't want to come back here."
"It's a quant town," Liv shrugged. She turned her attention to the bride. "But congratulations!" She exclaimed as she gave the other blonde a hug. "I know I've said this a million times today, but congrats. You look so beautiful."
Caroline blushed. "Thanks. You look beautiful today too—"
"Liv, are you trying to steal the bride?" Lexi joked as she walked up to her two favorite blondes.
Liv and Caroline laughed. "Of course, I am," Liv giggled. "Hey, Lex, I actually need to talk to you about something."
"Well, that's my cue to go. I got to go finish making the rounds anyway," Caroline gave Lexi and Liv one last hug before she went on her way.
"Sure, Liv, what's up?" Lexi asked as she leaned against the table, which surprisingly didn't move.
"I won't be able to be your roommate anymore," Liv declared. Lexi graduated from medical school with Caroline the previous month, while Liv graduated from her master's program, but the two girls loved living together at school that they decided to get an apartment together.
"Why?" Lexi raised her eyebrow.
"I'm moving in with Tyler!" Liv squealed. She doesn't do the excited girl thing very often, but something about her relationship with Tyler makes her feel young and excited and girlish.
Lexi's face dropped. "Wow, I mean, that's great! But don't you think it's a little too soon? You guys have barely been together for a year."
Liv shook her head. "Sometimes you know when it's right. And with him, it's right. I can feel it."
Lexi was happy for her friend. She embraced her into a hug and said, "I'm happy for you. I'll find a roommate to pay me later!" She grabbed the dirty blonde's hand and pulled her onto the center of the grass that was dedicated to being the dance floor. "Let's dance!"
…
After a long day of celebration, Caroline and Klaus were finally able to collapse on their bed. They leave for their honeymoon to Hawaii early in the morning. They will be gone for three weeks.
"That was exhausting," Caroline sighed as she took off her heels. "Wearing heels while pregnant was so not a good idea. But I suffered for the aesthetic."
Klaus chuckled.
"By the way! I kept our secret all day! I so desperately wanted to tell Elena and Bonnie! Which they were on my case because of your slip up during your vows," she gently slapped him in the chest.
He pulled her closer to him, so she would cuddle up to his bare chest. Once they were in the privacy of their own bedroom, Klaus immediately stripped down to his underwear while Caroline stayed in her beautiful white dress. He kissed the top of her head. "I know. I can't believe it was me, either." They both chuckled.
"I'm so tired," the newly wedded bride yawned.
Klaus reached around her to grab her butt and whispered in her ear, "Too tired to do this?" as he nibbled on her neck. She moaned as she flipped him over so that she was on top.
"I'm never that tired," she grinned as she leaned down to capture his lips in a lingering kiss.
Four years later and I am still too nervous to write a sex scene.
Anyway, so Bonnie is also pregnant! What do you think of that? Now we got Rebekah, Sage, Caroline and Bonnie all about to have a baby!
Please review. I hope to have the next chapter posted by the weekend. I am going away for a few days but the next chapter is already half written.
Review what you would like to see! More fluff, more drama? Which couples or friendships would you like to see more of?
