He opened his swollen eyes, the reminder of the new information in his mind. He looked down and saw Suki still sleeping, so peacefully and calm. He studied her features, relaxing at the silence in the room. All the screaming and crying the night before to him were thing he never thought would experience again, the last time being the day Katara found the corpse of their mother.

Not being able to sleep, he kept still to not disturb her girlfriend, who had swollen eyes like him. He regrets deeply not being able to fix those emotions, mirroring his sisters mannerisms of that day. Had he met her before, maybe he could have helped her grief with his sister in a way she wouldn't feel the need to go on a kill streak.

Just 2 days before she was happy and bubbly, not indulging in the pain. He knew understanding girls was hard. Even more as now that he thought could manage something as serious as her distress without making it worse. "How could I make her feel better? She literally needs her armor and make up to feel better. Maybe she'll fit in mine?... Damn, forgot it got lost. Now she'll probably hate me for that. Maybe… I can convince her she's really strong! But she already know kicking my ass is easy for her"

He sighed, frustrated. This woke her up, snuggling to him and opening her eyes. His smell was addictive, not wanting to let go so she could have her own ration to it. Wanting to sit up she nudged his shirt, which he obliged letting go of her. He laid down looking at her, a warm smile forming in his face.

-Did you sleep well?- He asked. He saw her sleep but felt it was necessary to ask.

-Yes, thank you. Best pillow I have ever had- she answered chuckling. It made him giggle the state of her messy hair, completely down and messy. His hand touch her cheek, making her smile.

-I admire you a lot.

-Thank you.

-You can do anything you want in your life. It's only time you comprehend that.-He said with a serious face, maintaining his eyes on hers. Her eyes dimmed a little at the message.

-I just feel like myself with it.

-But you're being yourself- He answered confused.

-I know. What I meant is that…. I'm not nothing without a steady hand. That was were my armor and weapons play a part.- She said grabbing the hand from his cheek and kissing it.

-Is there any way I can make you feel better?- He asked sitting up, focusing all his attention to her.

Suki thought hard, looking away and frowning. She felt something was missing from her and didn't know exactly what it was. Sure, her armor played a part in that but it wasn't necessarily that. She grabbed her shirt, touching to keep herself in place and not fading in her painful memories.

Sokka knew then, that her pain was more than her identity. Now it was her self confidence and control.

-I don't think so. Sorry… it's just that maybe I'm the one that's wrong.- She said confirming his hypothesis.

Her eyes met his again, with a hidden tint of fear in the words she said. He sighed, sitting up so they would be in the same level. His arms hugged her again, kissing the top of her messy hair.

-It's okay to feel that way Suki, it will never make you look weaker. If anything, I think is brave to show your emotions, it makes you pure.

Tears dwelled in her eyes as she hugged him back, her feelings stabilizing a little with his kind words.

-Really… thank you for staying here with me…

-If you let me I would stay with you my whole life and after it.-He answered kissing her head again.

Then his mind clicked. The woods. It made her lower her guard so much that she sang and danced like a teen. It could be their safe space to talk and snuggle while waiting for the final battle. As she groggily pulled away and tried to stand up, Sokka grabbed her, helping her to stand straight.

-You're hungry aren't you?

-Maybe, let's go outside, I think most of the day has already passed by.- She answered walking unusually slow. He stopped her by her shoulders, turned her around and kissed her with desire and love. Suki gave in almost instantly, her body tumbling a little bit.

-Stay here. I'll bring the food to the tent.- He said sitting her down. She smiled, relaxing.

As Sokka ran outside the tent only to be stopped abruptly, falling to the ground wincing in pain. Suki saw it and ran to him tumbling as she saw a bit of blood on his forehead.

-Fuck…-

-Sokka! Are you okay?- She said cleaning the blood with her t-shirt.

-Am I dead and seeing an angel?- He responded trying to grab her face. She smiled inspecting his head, relieved to only see a small cut on it.

-You just stomped your face with…-Suki opened the entrance, inspecting the wall.-A wall of rock.

Sokka stood up mad.

-Toph! Move this rock from here! We're starving!

As they ate in her tent, Sokka kept thinking how was he going to make their small safe space. He couldn't sent her to the town without help from Toph. The problem is that she didn't really like to shop for clothes, something Suki really needed. A change of sight would remind her of her own strength and inner beauty. As Suki finished her plate, she stood up to comb her hair and train.

Sokka always wanted to comb her hair. Auburn, soft and small. The worst thing that could happen is a punch in the face.

-Hey Suki. Can I…-He struggled letting out the words of his mouth. Suki kept brushing her hair slowly, looking at him through the mirror.

-What?- She asked concerned.

-Can I… Can I comb your hair?

She giggled, turning around to hand him the hair comb. He smiled grabbing it and positioning himself in the back of her. His hand grabbing the side of her head softly, afraid of being to harsh on her hair.

-It's okay, I won't break if you tug it too hard.- She said smiling, encouraging him to continue.

As he combed her hair, his heartbeat sped up. The silky texture and beautiful color captivated his eyes, her shoulders white and bright, contrasting with her hair, the small smile in her face as he did it only helped him to blush as the motions began to find their way. He couldn't help it, he was head over heels for her.

As he finished he proceed to style it, grabbing the hair tie from the floor. She sighed, her eyes closed. He deduced doing her hairstyle would be similar to doing his own wolf-tail. As he finished, he kissed the top of her head, hugging her.

-I love you.-He said, meeting her gace through the mirror.

-I love you too.-She responded, grabbing his arms.

-Don't you want to change clothes? I mean, they look good on you. But I think it's time to change them- He said smiling.

-I think it's a bit risk to go to town don't you think?

-Don't worry! I'll change into my disguise and nobody will bat an eye-He said proudly, separating and giving her a peck before running outside.

"I need to tell Toph real fast"

-Why would you let me choose her clothes? You know I don't care about that

-I just need some time to make her a gift! Take your time strolling, I'll give you some extra money for you to eat out- Sokka said handing her the money.

-I just thought you would wan't to spend some time with her captain. I'll gladly accept the task so I can eat some decent made food. Since Katara and Zuko are gone eating only vegetables doesn't fill me well.- She said leaving the scene.

-Hey! At least there is a mix of it…-Aang said annoyed.

-Don't mind her. I have a plan- He turned to Aang, who looked at him with curiosity.

-Okay, what are we doing today?

-Hello there bombshell! Are you ready to go shopping?-Said an overly excited Toph.

Suki got confused at seeing the girl, thinking Sokka and her were going on a date. She didn't mind, but it's better to be known beforehand.

-Sure. Are we waiting for Aang too?- She said getting close to her.

-Nah. Sokka excused himself, said Aang and he needed to plan something for the fight. Ya know.

Suki smiled, grabbing her hand and walking towards town. As they got close, Toph let go of the hold. Startling Suki.

-Is something wrong?- She asked, looking everywhere to see if somebody was following them.

-No. It's just that your hands got sweaty and it started to hurt your grip.

-Sorry… I'm used to it.

-It's okay, you know you don't have to do that right?- Toph replied annoyed. Her being blind didn't meant everybody got to watch her.

-I know. I like to do it.- The warrior answered- Are we doing this together?

Toph tought about it. She tugged on Suki's clothes, giving her hand. Suki smiled and grabbed it, walking to the nearby stores.

As she waited sitting down on a nearby chair, Toph reflected on the relationship she had with the older teenager. She was really fond of her because of the lack of time they spent together, also, the incident in serpent pass outed her feelings for Sokka, who was still oblivious. Suki laughed it out and never mentioned to him, so she wouldn't feel embarrassed. But the feelings were still there and… she couldn't even compete with her.

She was stronger than her, had spent more time than her. How is that she came and quickly catch his heart? "Maybe she is really prettier than me but…. I'm way funnier!"

-Do you want eat some ice cream? I think it's getting pretty hot in here.

Her voice interrupted her mental checklist, nodding for them to walk. Suki grabbed her hand again, both of them walking in silence as they approached the ice cream stand. Toph could feel the tenderness of her touch, debating whether tell her o not of the feelings growing for her boyfriend.

-What flavor would you like? They have almost every flavor on the world it seems

-Chocolate is okay.

As they sat waiting for their order, the warrior noticed the mood on the small girl.

-Are you okay?

-Yes, why wouldn't I be?- Replied Toph defensivly.

-You don't seem like it, I don't have your detector but I can feel it.

Toph could feel the strong look she was receiving. Was it even okay to confide in her? What if she runs and tries to further separate the friendship between Sokka and her?

-It's okay, I won't judge.- Suki answered as if she read her thoughts, conflicting her even more.

Toph thought about it, maybe with some ice cream the punch wouldn't feel so bad.

-Well. Remember our little incident on the serpent pass?- Toph grabbed the spoon and began eating slowly her ice cream.

Suki giggled, remembering it more cutesy.- I do, I was lucky my makeup didn't smudge that day.

-I…still meant it. I'm sorry.- She said blushing.

Suki stopped eating and thought about it. Toph could feel the heartbeat slowing down a little bit.

-Why are you sorry?- She replied concerned.- It's okay to have a crush on someone.

Toph got caught off guard. "Seriously? That's your answer?"

-You mean you don't mind if another girl wants your boyfriend?-Toph replied sarcastically.

Suki smiled, not taking offense on the small girl words.

-I don't mind you. It's different.- The warrior replied continuing to eat her ice cream.

- What do you mean by that? You're saying I'm not attractive enough to steal it from you?

A small frown formed in her face, as well as her heartbeat began speeding up. "Now she's probably mad" Toph taught embarrassed of what she said.

-Toph. You are pretty too. I don't mind you because we are all friends.- Suki replied calming herself.

Toph was awestruck -What?- She replied

-We don't have to fight each other for Sokka. I mean, I would be really hurt if he left me- The warrior said with a small tone of sadness creeping in.-But if he was happy without me, as much as it might hurt me, I would accept it.

Toph listened. The tone shift of her voice was still really lovable, something she could give her credit.

-In that case, I'm the one who is sorry for…being with Sokka. I know how hurtful it might be to you.- Suki continued talking, grabbing one of Tophs hands. -If I can help you so you don't feel as sad, how could I do it?

"She is actually sincere? How she had no trouble with that?" Toph thought confused. She was directly planting on a fight to win the heart of their friend and that didn't bother her? "And she is still nice to me?"

-I…I feel dumb now.- Toph replied bowing down her head, blushing.

-Don't, it's okay to have feelings. You are even stronger for showing them- The warrior said, remembering the same advise her boyfriend told her.

-B-but… I mean. Everyone has somebody to love and lean on. And I? I thought… Sokka is really nice, and so are you. That must be why he is so crazy over you.

Suki blushed at the thought of Sokka making plans to win her over. She moved around the table to be close to comfort her.

-Maybe. I still don't really know it either.- She said putting a palm on her back.

-What? Suki you're adorable! You also fight, I imagine you're a bombshell, you are kindhearted and even a little bit annoying at times.-Toph replied confused.

Suki laughed, being glad to see the softer side of the small girl.

-That's the crazy thing about love. You sometimes can't pin point the exact reason somebody does, and that's okay too. Love is not only physical, family and friends do love too.

Toph smiled, resting her head on her shoulder.

-Remember, no man is worth all the trouble and fights with your own friends.

-Even if that man is Sokka?- Toph grinned at the question

Sukki laughed harder. -Even if it's Sokka. You really think I would jump to fight you if he asked me to do it? Not a chance. It would be better to be friends at that point.

Toph smiled, feeling loved. She didn't appreciate enough the company and friendship all have develop in these horrible times.

-I still want someone to smooch me and adore me.- Toph exclaimed cheerfully.

-Believe me, the moment the world knows you invented metalbending, you'll have strong handsome guys kissing your feet.

-That would be disgusting, I don't like people kissing my eyes!

As both girls laughed, their bond was solidified. Toph was happy his crush got himself an awesome, down to earth girlfriend. She knew her fragile condition and she still made sure to make her feel better. A new friend or a new sister? Time will only tell her, but right now, the charismatic warrior was winning her rock heart.

Grabbing hands they went back to the campsite, both of them happy. The sun was starting to set but both didn't think much about it. They complemented each other and knew if they had to fight, they would have each other's back. As twilight arrived, Toph stopped her friend.

-I'm glad you're his girlfriend.

-I'm too.

They giggled and continued walking, arriving at night to the campsite, where Aang and Sokka were eating vegetables. As the girls were on their eye vision, Sokka choked with a small pea the moment he saw Suki.

Laughing the girls sat down. Ignoring them and continued talking about the older girls experience with boys and the rich girl problems with her "ladylike attitude". Aang and Sokka smiled as they saw them bonding. Both stood up to wait for their other team members, hoping today they will arrive from the expedition.

Sokka's eyes were fixed on her girlfriend, watching her as she listened really interested in Toph's chat about her fight days. Sensing him, she lifted up her eyes and looked at him, winking. This made his heart beat faster, heat rising.

A wall of rock appeared right in front of the boy making him scream.

-Don't distract her when I'm talking!- Toph screamed from the other side, everybody laughing except Sokka.

Later that night the moon was full. Shinning brighter than ever. Sokka admired the light emanating from her. Suki was already sleeping on his lap, still feeling tired from last night events. He closed his eyes, silently praying to Yue, asking her to protect the 2 most important woman on the world right now to him. The moon shone brighter, almost as if answering his petitions. He stood up carrying Suki close to his chest, walking towards her tent, seeing the shivers from the girl as the night was getting colder. He laid her down and covered her, kissing her forehead and leaving quietly, so his steps would not wake her up.

Sitting close to the shore, that night the moon and him were the only ones awake. It had been days since he had talked to her, feeling ashamed to be even asking for favors.

-I know you're always with me. Your presence makes me feel in peace.- He talked to the sky, still seeing the moon.- I beg you, this same feeling of peace you infuse me with… to do it with Suki.

The moon got brighter again, almost as if talking back to him.

-I know you would be happy I found her after you… I would like to believe that- He laughed nervously as he continued to talk.- So please, I beg you. Be there for her too. I love her… and wish for her to be happy.

The moon got brighter for the last time in the night, Sokka feeling some nostalgic feelings as the shine got duller. It almost seemed as if the ability to talk her was now gone and had been passed to her warrior.

He smiled happily, waiting for the dawn as he wished to see her sister arriving. Also for the surprise he had prepared for Suki, knowing in the day looks prettier than in the night.

Hope you enjoyed! :) Happy Sunday too!
