Shepard couldn't believe it; nothing was easy for him. The new Primarch wanted the Krogan to help the Turian's before they aided Earth. Everyone knew it was going to end up back there. The other races were looking out for themselves. Shepard understood wanting to protect your own people, but this wasn't a normal situation. None of them had been through anything like this before. This battle was going to be bigger; if they lost entire races would cease to exist. Why was he still surprised, ever since the moment he stood up and told the council about Saren, they always went against him. He had a reason to jump through all these hoops now, though. It wasn't just to save, well, everyone. Now he had to do everything he could to protect Kaidan and their child, Shepard couldn't stop the smile as he thought of them as he walked to the main battery as he knew where Garrus would spend all of his time there.

"Can I trust him?" Shepard asked as soon as the door slid open. He was wondering what was going as Garrus stared at him a little too long.

"Yes, but you don't have much of a choice." He wished he could do done something, anything to help. So he would do the only thing he could and be there for every single battle.

"Thank you for being here, Garrus."

"I wish I could do more to help you." He paused for a moment.

Shepard couldn't help but smile, he knew by the way the Turian looked at him as soon as he arrived something was going on. "What is it?"

Garrus chuckled. "Liara, seemed to hint, subtly, that you may want to talk about something. Is there anything?"

"I've had some 'interesting' news."

"What like 'reaper' interesting?"

"More like Kaidan was kidnapped experimented on and now pregnant with our child, oh and The Illusive man is my biological father."

Garrus just stared at him. "Well, I wasn't expecting that. What happened to Kaidan? I thought that the males of your species needed to have females to reproduce?"

"We do," Shepard answered, enjoying how confused Garrus was.

"Then, how? Who would do..." He paused for a moment "Cerberus?"

"It turns out they wanted more control of me. Kaidan should've been at Horizon when we were there. They kidnapped him to 'control me' they decided my feelings for him weren't enough, so they experimented on him."

"Have you seen him?"

"Yes, he was attacked at the Citadel. Thane helped to save him."

"Do you think it's Cerberus? Do they want him back?" His mind ran over the Turian's that he trusted at the Citadel. He would send the word out to make sure that Kaidan was kept safe. He didn't need to tell them everything, just that he was in danger.

"No, I think it's Udina, it's the way he mentioned Kaidan. His voice was off. I think that a human man being pregnant emasculates him somehow I think he believes it makes him look weak to the other races".

"What about you?"

"Me," Shepard smiled at him. "I'm the luckiest man alive. The man I love is carrying our child, how can I not be happy."

"Well, I guess we better save the whole damn galaxy and his or her's Uncle Garrus will make sure that little one and his dads can live full happy lives."

"Thanks, you're a good friend."

"And your father?"

"I don't have one. My parents died when I was a kid. I don't care what my DNA says. Any interaction we've had and all the crap he's done, I want nothing to do with him."

"Good enough, so the summit?"

"Really, not five minutes to revel in me becoming a father with someone I love. We need to discuss the Krogan's, now?"

"I didn't want you to think I was going soft. Are you going to tell the others about Kaidan?"

"I don't know how long we can keep it a secret. I think I need to tell Joker and EDI; we've all been through a lot. The others I'll think about."

"I'll support you in whatever you need. You know that."

"Thanks, Garrus, everything has happened so quickly." Even though there was so much going on, he couldn't help but smile at what he had gained.

"You wished to discuss something with us?" EDI spoke as she sat down primly

Joker followed suit, his face full of confusion.

"EDI, did you listen to my conversation, with Hackett concerning Kaidan?"

She tilted her head as she spoke. "No, it seemed personal, so I made sure you have privacy."

"Why?" Joker looked over at him. This was the same tone he'd heard on their way to Eden Prime, and he knew something had been going on, and boy was he right.

"Kaidan was kidnapped and tested on by The Illusive man because of how I felt about him."

"I did not know Shepard; if I had known or even thought I would have searched for him?"

"I know EDI, but there's more."

"More? Is Major Alenko all right?"

"Yes." Shepard stuttered slightly; no one could be completely okay with what he had and was currently going through.

"Shepard, do you wish for me to search for it, so you don't have to tell us."

"No, I want you to hear it from me. As I said, Kaidan was tortured and experimented it on. They did whatever they could to find a way of controlling me without changing who I am. Miranda rescued him as soon as she found out. He's pregnant," Shepard looked closely as EDI and Joker just stared at him. "He's carrying our child."

Joker opened his mouth and then closed it again, not knowing what to say.

"Congratulations Shepard, how is the major and your unborn child."

"They are both doing good, well as good as anyone knows. He's under protective custody on the Citadel. There's already been an attempt on his life."

"I hope the Alliance has dealt with that threat." Joker still didn't know what to make of it, but Kaidan had been with them when they found out about the Reapers. He and Shepard we're having a family.

"The Alliance has nothing to do with him?"

"Why? He's one of us."

"Udina doesn't seem to think so, Joker. Hackett was happy when the Asari Councillor offered their aid. Asari commandos protect him, Thane was there and helped. He's also going to keep an eye out. There's a very restrictive list, and I think Liara and Garrus are planning something. I think Kaidan is going to be the most protected man in the galaxy."

"You haven't told anyone else?" EDI asked.

"Not yet, I want to deal with this summit first and see how things go from there."

"If you want to invite Udina on board, we could throw him out the airlock."

Shepard laughed. "Thanks, Joker, I'll keep that in mind."

"Commander, the Krogan are ready to board." Traynor's alerted them.

"Thanks, I'm on my way. Let's hope we don't start another war." Just as he was about to leave, he stopped and turned to them. "Oh, and The Illusive Man is my biological father." Before the two could reply, he headed off to meet Wrex. Something needed to be done.

"Did he say…"

"Yes, he did Joker. We will talk about it when you finally absorb all this information in."

"Major Alenko, are you okay?"

"You helped save my life, of course, you can. John said I could trust you?"

"You can, he is a good man and thanks to him I made up for many of my sins, and I have my son back. I told him I would help protect you. He seemed very concerned about his mate, you."

"A lot is going on."

"When or if you are ever ready to tell me, I am here to listen."

"Could you tell me what it's like to be a father?"

"I will tell you anything you wish to know. Please call me Thane."

"Then you must call me Kaidan."

"Shepard."

Just then the Dalatrass joined them, and everything went uncomfortably quiet.
