Draco had been acting odd, the past week he'd been quiet and keeping to himself. Jade thought he was still mad about her being friends with Harry but he kept around her. He had joined them to study in the library like Jade had offered and he sat next to her at mealtimes instead of with Crabbe and Goyle, who seemed upset that they'd been pushed to across the table instead of right at his side. He'd been carrying around a book she didn't recognize and Jade asked him about it but he always told her it was nothing.

On Saturday night, Jade had been sleeping when she heard a loud voice coming from the Common Room and she sat up in her bed, she looked around at the other girls and they were all still sleeping. Jade quietly crept out of the girls' dormitory but paused when she saw Professor McGonagall standing there in a nightrobe, glaring at Draco. She was so angry she hadn't noticed Jade hiding in the shadows watching them.

"But, Professor-" Draco tried speaking to her but she cut him off,

"Detention, Mr. Malfoy!" She shrieked but then remembered where they were and she lowered her voice, "Twenty points from Slytherin. Wandering around in the halls in the middle of the night, I don't know what you were thinking."

"Harry Potter-" He tried again,

"Any more dragon talk and I'll double it." She threatened and Draco fell silent. "I shall see Professor Snape about you, Malfoy." Draco nodded and then she gave him a glance up and down and huffed before quietly leaving. Draco turned to go to the boys' dormitory but he caught Jade's eyes. Now that McGonagall was gone, she left her hiding place but stood there awkwardly.

"Eavesdropping were you?" He asked sharply and Jade shook her head as he changed his direction and fell into an armchair near the empty fireplace.

"I didn't mean to. She woke me up." Jade made her way over to the couch and sat down. "What did you do?" She asked,

"Tried proving Potter was sneaking around a dragon." Jade started laughing but when the look on his face didn't change she stopped,

"You're serious." She stated, "A dragon?" Draco nodded,

"The giant oaf, Hagrid, he had a baby dragon in his little wooden house and Potter and his friends were going to help him get rid of it."

"Was it cute?" Jade asked and Draco glared at her, "I'm sorry I've never seen a dragon before." She said obviously and he rolled his eyes.

"But I missed him and McGonagall caught me." He grumbled, "Now, I have detention when it should be Potter. Should've held on to that book for proof."

"What did the book have to do with it?"

"There was a note from Weasley's brother saying he'd send his friends to pick up the dragon at midnight."

"George or Fred?" She asked, she couldn't imagine the one that was a Prefect having anything to do with smuggling a dragon around, but it sounded like something Fred and George could be involved in.

"Neither. A different one." He paused, "I hope my father doesn't hear about this." Jade watched him, he looked tired and worried.

"Everyone gets detention." She said, trying to comfort him.

"You haven't."

"I can if you want me to." She joked and he grinned at her. "I don't think parents get notified when their children get detention. Especially for something little like being out after dark." She could see Draco relax.

"You're right." He looked away from her, "My father expects the best from me."

"I get it." She told him,

"Since I'm the only child, I have to be perfect." Jade wanted to comfort her friend but she didn't because she didn't know how he would react and she didn't want to ruin the fact that he was actually opening up to someone instead of being snarky or mean. "I don't want to be a disappointment." Jade thought she had it rough, as she watched Draco, she saw that he wasn't this annoying brat who liked to bully other people, he was just a kid trying to make his father proud of him. And when your father is known for being an awful person, what better way to impress him than to act like him?

"You're not." She whispered, "You're one of the top students in our class. I'm glad I'm your friend, if I thought you were a disappointment I wouldn't bother," She said, trying to make him feel better again. "And if you weren't worth the time, I wouldn't keep trying to keep you out of trouble." He smiled at this,

"You failed this time."

"Had I known about it, I would've stopped you, and if I couldn't stop you at least I could go with you." He looked at her and she smiled at him, his eyes were warm as he stood up.

"Thank you, Jade." Jade's cheeks blushed, she didn't mean to embarrass herself by telling him what she really thought of him. "I'm exhausted. I'll see you tomorrow." He told her goodnight and Jade sat there for a second before returning to her bed and sleeping the rest of the night.

The next morning, Jade made her way to breakfast with Pansy, like usual, and they stopped to look at the crowd gathered around the large hourglasses outside of the Great Hall where the house points were counted. The Gryffindor hourglass that had passed the Slytherin's was now behind again due to the fact that they had somehow lost a hundred fifty points overnight.

"Harry Potter?" A Hufflepuff girl asked and Jade's ears perked up, "How could he lose so many points?"

"It was him and some other stupid first years. Out past dark, McGonagall was furious." An older Gryffindor explained.

"Now look who's back at top." The Hufflepuff girl glared at Pansy and Jade. Pansy gave them a sick smile,

"Everything's back to how it should be." She quipped back. The students continued to glare at them as they walked past and sat at the Slytherin table. Draco was smiling as Crabbe and Goyle laughed at something he said.

"Did you hear what happened?" Jade asked and Draco let out a bark of a laugh,

"I didn't even need to go out last night, Potter got in trouble all by himself. Lost more points for his house than I did and got detention." A round of applause began and they turned to see where it was coming from. Harry had walked into the Great Hall with Ron and Hermione, it seemed like everyone was giving them dirty looks except the Slytherins, they were the ones clapping. Jade felt bad for him, it seemed like the whole school didn't like him. Draco joined the clapping and since he did, Crabbe and Goyle quickly followed. Pansy was ignoring it all, she was more focused on her breakfast. Against her better judgment, Jade got up from the table and quickly made her way to Harry.

"Oh, enough." She huffed at her fellow Slytherins and they stopped, more because they were shocked Jade had gone to help them instead of joining in their bullying. She gently grabbed Harry's arm and led him to the Gryffindor table. She felt like the whole cafeteria was watching them but when she sat down at the Gryffindor table and ignored the hundreds of pairs of eyes, students slowly lost interest and turned back to their own conversations.

"Thanks," Harry mumbled with his head hung,

"Don't pay them any attention." She told all three of them and Ron nodded his head as he turned to Harry,

"They'll all forget this in a few weeks. Fred and George have lost loads of points in all the time they've been here and people still like them." Ron pointed out and Fred and George winked in sync from across the table and Jade smiled at them.

"They've never lost a hundred and fifty points in one go though, have they?" Harry asked, not looking up from the table. Ron and Hermione shared a look,

"Well, no." He admitted, Harry looked miserable, he was really beating himself up about it. Jade looked back at her table to find Draco and Pansy watching her, waiting for her to come back. Blaise had his nose in a book, studying even at breakfast.

"You should probably go, Jade. I don't want to get you in trouble with your house." Harry still hadn't looked up from the table,

"I could care less." She waved his concern away and he glanced up at her and she gave him a small smile. "Honestly, no one's going to stay mad at you, Harry Potter." Hermione nodded in agreement and Harry straightened from his slumped position. "They're just points. If it bothers you that much," Jade turned her attention to all three of them, "just earn them back."

"There's an idea." Ron grinned, appreciating Jade's help as it seemed to be lifting Harry's spirits a little.

"You're right." Harry nodded but he seemed to be in his own thoughts and Jade bumped her shoulder against his,

"I usually am." She looked up dramatically at the sun rising outside of the large glass windows and her goal of making them feel better was achieved as they all broke into laughter.
