The Mojave Wasteland Mid-Day

"All this walking... is making me feel dry. Hey Six, don't you have a spare water bottle or something?" Yang asked Six, "I told you to pack at least anything useful for this trip. Yes, I have a spare but not until we reach our next destination first." He replied it was Yang's own fault for not packing up her share of water in her bag.

They haven't walked that far from Primm yet and here is Yang, already tired from heat stroke and having to take her jacket off so the air breezes her body. Blake found a couple of pre-war books stashed somewhere in the Bison Steve Hotel, she's going to read them until they reach their next destination as her only primary source of entertainment in this deserted wasteland.

"Hey Vel, when's the last time you and I hung out with these freshmen again?" Coco said to her fellow teammate, "Since the last couple months. Why?" Velvet said

"I'm starting to regret visiting them to this hellhole of a wasteland." The fashionista sighs and couldn't carry her purse/minigun, due to the massive sun above them which is making her skin worse.

Six checks his Pip-Boy for directions, they were close to an old gas stop and over the tall ridge behind it is the Mojave Outpost. He remembers crossing the outpost to enter the Mojave in the first place.

"Change of plans folks. We'll head to that tall ridge up there. Where those two statues are located." He pointed to the directions of the two statues of an NCR Ranger and Desert Ranger.

"How did the NCR make those statues and manage to lift all that weight into its current place?" Blake raised an eyebrow since she thought this world's technology was a lost cause.

"Pre-war relics of the past I've presumed. I don't know much but the NCR scientists, engineers, and research department. Managed to restore vehicles from the past to life, I know it because I remember bits and pieces before having amnesia." Six explained that the NCR has done impressive things to get old world goodies alive again.

"Hey Six. I was wondering about this group called Caesar's Legion, do you know anything about that army across the other side of this place?" Ruby randomly asked out of the blue, which stops Six's tracks on continuing forward.

"I know of them. They aren't an army you guys want to mess with, unless you have a death wish that is." He replied with a dark tone.

"Why? What's so dangerous about them over the NCR, and who are they exactly?" Weiss looked around to find any Caesar's Legion soldiers.

"Caesar's Legion is an army of slaves. Their leader is Caesar, and he's here in the Mojave to conquer it. See... I know a bit about them, they control the east as far I'd know and not a friendly way if you are wondering. I don't know how it started, but Caesar has taken over Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, and some parts in Utah. Caesar has conquered 87th tribes under his feet, every tribe he defeated is forced to become his soldiers in life and death. Males are perfect soldiers for his crusade but to females are nothing but breeders for his army, he believes women were born as housewives like the old pre-war days and should be treated nothing but slaves and pleasure for the Legion." He explains bits of the Legion, which makes the women in the group in disgust about the legion.

"They are fucking monsters..." Yang gritted her teeth, she wants to make Caesar's Legion pay for disrespecting women.

"They are no better than the White Fang..." Blake mutters and remembers events during her time with the Fangs. Adam was a monster through and through, but this "Caesar" seems to put her crazy ex to shame, Adam leads some parts of the White Fang while Caesar already conquered 87th tribes which are forced to join in his crazy crusade.

"But what about the tribes? Don't they try to leave the army?" Ruby thinks there are a few Legion members that want out of the army.

"No. Because Caesar doesn't tolerate traitors within his ranks, so when a male newborn is born that baby is sent to be raised in Legion's teaching. While female newborns are sent to the slaves' den and are raised as a slave/housewife and serve the Legion till their dying breath." He continued about Caesar's Legion, he despised them for being fucked ups without purpose. If Caesar wasn't an intelligent, smart, and strategies leader, then he'll be another raider leading an army of raiders that can pretty much do any other raiders can.

"How do you know this information? If you have amnesia, how come you still know what the Legion is all about." Weiss suspects that Six doesn't have amnesia and is only covering up with false news to them.

"It's slowly coming back to me okay? I don't want to talk about them anymore." He angrily remarked feeling a bit frustrated by Weiss shitting attitude towards him

Everyone stayed quiet when learning more about Caesar's Legion. The Legion is no better than the White Fang, while there is some faunus that still believes they are fighting for freedom and peace, the Legion is the opposite. They have no purpose other than serving Caesar till their dying breath, they just hope they won't have to cross paths with them in the near future...

How ironic...

Mojave Outpost

"Welcome to the outpost, if you're travelers from the north then like I said welcome." Sgt. Kilborn welcomed the travelers to the outpost.

"What's been going on with the rest of the world lately?" asked Six

"Truthfully, I'm not sure. The NCR has the best interests for the Mojave, but with the threats from Caesar's Legion, Powder Gangers, and Great Khans. Things are really not going well for us, still... the NCR will do whatever it can to ensure our victory in the second battle." Kilborn said

"Then why hasn't the NCR won the people's trust?" Blake almost seeing the NCR just bandits dressing up like soldiers.

"Well... the Mojave civilians claim us as nothing but soldiers taking what we want. While that is true in some cases they don't understand that without the NCR's support, Caesar's Legion will enslave them and turn the Mojave into his personal playground. So the masses around here should finally piece things together and become part of the republic." Kilborn responds with a loud sigh coming from his mouth, his duty with the NCR has been rather slow since the caravans are stuck here.

Ruby notices how there are lots of caravans with two-headed cows eating hay. "Hey, what's going on with the caravans?" She asked the Sgt., Six to explain little about how caravans worked and how they are important merchants, they supplied customers with their wares like weapons or water.

"I'm not allowed to say so. If you want to help I suggest you asked Ranger Jackson, he's the one in charge here." He points the directions of the HQ of the Mojave Outpost, that's where Jackson and the rest of his unit are stationed at.

"That's helpful, thanks for the help." Six thanked the Sgt.'s help, before he turned his head at the group.

"I think that building over there is the barracks you girls should go there to rest up in. In the meantime, I'll ask this Jackson fellow about any information about my attackers." He told the girls to head over to the barracks.

"You don't want me to come with you, just to be sure?" asked Ruby

"No. I'll do this myself for now, just rest up and I'll come by the barracks to look for you guys later." Six said before making his way to the HQ.

"Fine by me. I need a break right about now." Yang puts both of her arms on the back of her head, and walks towards the barracks to rest. The rest quickly follows after her but Ruby looks at the direction Six is going, but soon follows her friends.

Mojave Outpost Barracks

The barracks was crowded with NCR Troopers, caravans, and travelers from California. They were drinking the finest whiskey and cigar made from San Francisco, Team RWBY sat near the windows while Coco and Velvet chatted with a few travelers from California.

"This place is loud..." Blake covers her cat ears since the music box across the room is loud.

"Tell me about it, I'm not sure how these are the supposed NCR soldiers that are fighting for this land." Weiss looks at the troopers in disgust, the NCR is nothing compared to the finest Atlas troops and their advanced technology.

Yang orders some cheap beer while Ruby asks for milk. Some of the gawkers look at Ruby with confused stares like she doesn't belong here, and one NCR troop calls her "Milk Drinker" for drinking milk.

"So let's discuss our situation while we're here. We were transported into another world where everything is blown up, civilization is trying to rebuild itself but some prefer the wasteland better since no laws, no rules, and no order. That's where the NCR shows up and tries to restore order in this world, but across rivers is Caesar's Legion and he's rebuilding civilization in his own way." Weiss explained everything that transpired today.

"I don't like the Legion, it's too similar like the White Fang back home." Blake bluntly said since Caesar's Legion is like the White Fang but worse, imagine if Adam exists in this world and worked for a dictator that wants to establish civilization his way.

"I'm pretty sure no one in this hellhole likes the Legion, and if those fuckers dares tries to make me their slave. They'll get what's coming to them." Yang almost crushed the empty bottle she is holding.

"Guys, we don't know how many numbers the Legion has. Six mentions that Caesar conquered 87 tribes under his banner, so there are perhaps more of them. That is perhaps bigger and larger than the NCR. So we need to be careful and think about this." Ruby acted like a leader in this time of need, when Ozpin appointed her as leader she attended to do whatever her abilities to act like one.

Yang's semblance can make her resist pain making her powerful but not for long, if her semblance is drained then there's telling what the Legion will do on the defenseless Yang. Blake can create illusions of her but also limited, despite her training during her time with the White Fang it isn't enough, she's not an offensive fighter but a defense fighter that fights in the back. Weiss was trained by many tutors during her time in Atlas, she can summon her ice giants to squash the Legion but as much she hates to say it, Weiss relies too much on her semblance. She needs to use less of her powers and more on her approach offense, if they are ever going against the Legion in the near future.

Coco is heavy and likes close-quarters so she can shoot at her opponents, but without her purse/minigun she's defenseless without it. If she carries a suitable secret knife then she'll be okay but she never sees Coco in hand-to-hand combat. Velvet can copy weapons using her camera but if it's destroyed by one of the Legion, it'll take time to find resources to fix it again.

"Where's Six at again? I heard him saying about Jackson and something else." Yang asked her friends.

"Information about his attackers. He's sort of obsessed on getting revenge against these guys." Blake replied

"I don't blame him. I'll be pissed if those assholes stole something from me." Coco returned to the girls with Velvet.

"But revenge isn't going to help, it's going to cause more problems in the future if Six continues this path. Once I find the right moment, I'll see if I can convince Six to at least give his attackers a chance on why they stole his package." Ruby believes there are other ways to solve this case.

"I believe that's impossible." A deep voice said, they turned their heads and saw a skin-toned man with black braided hair, sleeveless black coat emblazoned with the United States commonwealth flag; the thirteen stars representing the commonwealth states. The rest of the outfit consists of a shirt, black pants, and a pair of black boots. There are several accessories, including a pair of tribal-like necklaces, a bandoleer, and kneepads. The entire outfit is dusty and weather-beaten.

"Who are you?" Blake looked at the stranger with caution, something about him seems fishy to her... which sounds ironic.

"Who are you, that do not know your history? Even those who are from another world should know." The stranger said, which made the whole RWBY cast look at him in shock.

"You'd better start explaining yourself, right now." Yang's eyes turned red and is this close to punching this man's mouth.

"Hmpth, the Xiao-Long-Branwen blood flows within you. Pity, that you don't know how to utilize its power to call upon." He continues before pointing the direction of the troops, "Start a fight here the crime flies to you, to them I'm the victim being attacked while you are the aggressor." He said

"How do you know so much about us, if we don't know who you are." Blake questioned the stranger.

"The Belladonna family are a proud ancient history that wants peace over power. You bear similar looks as your mother, but hold the same ideals but stubborn attitude as your father." He sees the resemblance between Blake and her mother.

"The Schnee Family controls the Schnee Dust Company. Your family history has gone down to a dark road, a road that was led by your father Jacques Schnee." He turns his direction towards Weiss, who is shocked that the stranger knew her father and the company.

Then he turns his attention towards Ruby herself, "Ruby Rose. The last of the silver-eye warriors, they have records of great warriors that fight Grimm to protect Remnant till their dying breath, a proud history that is now forgotten when Summer Rose died. You bear a striking resemblance to your mother, you carry her legacy as the next Silver-Eye Warrior, and follow her road to become a greater warrior than your mother." He said

He turned around to the door but stopped before finally giving his name. "Ulysses. Not my current name but it'll do, tell the Courier a message to one courier to another. "Who are you, that do not know your history." He'll soon understand and will follow, when the time comes... we have an ending to finish." Ulysses gives one last look towards the group, before leaving the barracks. Back to the emptiness known as The Divide.

Ulysses's words spooked the group. Who was he and how does he know them? He seems to have every inch of information about them, Ruby ran outside to try to find where Ulysses was but he wasn't there, he'd just vanished without a trace. That's when she saw Six is coming to the barracks with a tired look on his face.

"Waiting for me Ruby? I thought you and the girls are drinking or whatever." Six scratch his head he'd just came back after dealing with those giant ants, those ants fucking breath fire somehow and it almost burned his clothes.

"Uh? Yeah! But I-i was just out here getting fresh air." She gives him a cheeky smile but Six knew she was hiding something, but whatever she's hiding has to wait. Not till he finds his attacker and gives those assholes a taste of their own medicine.

Nipton

The road to Nipton wasn't terrible but a bad experience. They were almost robbed by a gang of bandits known as The Vipers, but Six, Coco and Ruby quickly dealt with them seeing that their lives were threatened. Then the group saw two individuals begin shooting at each other with one victor, it was a man who was out of breath but still alive, he'd told them that the lady he was traveling with was kind before she tried to rob him. He then explain that she's after his lucky-charm necklace which is seven blue-star bottle caps, Six convinces the man to give it to him since he isn't worried if someone robbed him which thankfully the man agreed and gave Six his so called "luck-charm necklace" and continue his way towards the Outpost.

"So you have one of those blue star Velvet?" Six asked Velvet who was holding one blue star cap on her hand, "Yup, including some from that woman laying on the road." Velvet knew that picking from the dead is wrong, but from the man's perspective it is him saying the woman tried to rob him and his possession of 2x blue star caps.

"So that makes it 10x blue star caps, I wonder why it makes people crazy about them." He gave the necklace to Velvet, "Keep that safe in that bag of yours, I'm afraid that wearing that will make me the prime target." There's no wonder how many of those blue-star collectors are hunting for those caps, but he doesn't want to be caught wearing the necklace with guns or spears at his back.

When the group finally reached Nipton... they were in quite shock on discovery. Nipton was burning down to the ground, several heads were on a pike, tires covered in fire that burned the victims to death. It was now a ghost town.

"What the hell happened around here?" Yang looked around and saw nothing but bodies around her, she really didn't want Ruby seeing all this... but it was already too late.

"I think those guys over there are responsible." Blake points the direction of a man wearing a dog hat, red armored attire with black-like skirt, and carrying a sharp ripper on his left waist. Along with several men coming from the town hall, wearing almost the same armor as the man in front.

"Don't worry, I won't have you lashed to a cross like the rest of the degenerates. It's useful that you all came by, I want you to report what has happened here. And when you move on, spread words that Nipton has fallen, under the eyes of the mighty Caesar." Vulpes Inculta said to the group.

"Who are you and why did you do this?" Ruby kept her cool but it was slowly releasing small tears coming from her eyes, she doesn't know the full-story but seeing the Legion up close and how cruel they are...

"I am Vulpes Inculta, of Caesar's Legion. I serve my master as the greatest of his Frumentarii. We Frumentarii are soldiers of a different stripe, capable in battle, but skilled as infiltrators and agents as well. Nipton was a wicked place, debased and corrupt. It served all comers, so long as they paid. Profligate troops, Powder Gangers, men of the Legion such as myself - the people here didn't care. It was a town of whores. For a pittance, the town agreed to lead those it had sheltered into a trap. Only when I sprained it did they realize they were caught inside it, too." Vulpes continues

"You captured everyone?" Coco raise an eyebrow

Yes, and herded them to the center of town. I told them their sins, the foremost being disloyalty. I told them that when Legionaries are disloyal, some are punished, the others made to watch. And I announced the lottery. Each clutched his ticket, hoping it would set him free. Each did nothing, even when "loved ones" were dragged away to be killed." Vulpes smirk and watch the beauty he and his legionaries had created.

"You slaughtered innocent civilians!" Blake shouts and grits her teeth, she takes back how similar the White Fang and Caesar's Legion are. The Legion is ten-times worse than the Fang any day.

"Ha! Innocent? Hardly. Cowardly, though. They outnumbered us, yet not once did they try to resist. They stood and watched as their fellows were butchered, crucified, and burned, one by one. They stood and hoped their turn would not come. Each cared only for himself." He slowly walked over to Blake, getting right up to her face almost dangerously close.

"Strange. You have the scent of a cat, tell me this kitty. Have you ever wondered why dogs are ferocious creatures more than cats? It's because Dogs is more dangerous than cats. Cats may have claws but Dogs have bites, and you're lucky that mine isn't biting yours right now." He stares down at Blake.

"Get away from her you punk!" Yang gets in between the two, some legionaries try to intervene but Vulpes stops them.

"Enough. We are done for today, let's go report the news to the lord and receive further orders." He told his men, they nodded before slowly walked back to their main HQ, Vulpes looked at the group again.

"Now go, and teach them what you learned here. There will be more lessons in the days ahead. Vale." He bids them farewell before following his men.

"What a prick..." Yang stares at Vulpes's back and wishes she could beat to death.

"There isn't anything we can do Yang, we just have to accept that fact. Come on, we have to leave this place." Six took the alternate route to reach Novac, the group took one final look at Nipton and wished they were here on time to save the people from their fate.

I'll end it here for now folks, I could continue but I think this is a perfect stop. I think there are some explanations that I have to answer...

Q1: How did Ulysses know about the group?

A1: That's. A. Secret~

Q2: Who is Caesar's Legion?

A2: Have you been living under a rock or something? Caesar's Legion is an antagonist group of the modern-day roman empire, that is enslaving people to increase their numbers or live out as slaves.

Q3: Why are Vulpes suddenly taking interest in Blake?

A3: Don't know myself, the thought just popped into my mind.

That's enough answers for now. I hope you all enjoy this chapter and I'll see you later.

"Caesar is the salvation of mankind, his Legion the rebirth of civilization in a benighted age. Don't worry, you'll know him well when you serve him. Or you'll be dead." - Vulpes Inculta
