DM Margo In Oz Chapter 2
"Whoops?" repeated the mayor, "don't say whoops. You did the right thing for all of us". ''Well if you're sure'' said Margo. The crowd munchkins cheered and lifted Margo and Lucky above their heads, carrying them toward the bandstand.
''Hey what are you doing?'' Margo asked, "Put me down!". To her relief, they put her Lucky down inside the bandstand. The mayor made an announcement. "The Good Witch will see you now...uh...what is your name?" the mayor muttered.
''Margo'' said Margo, ''And this is Lucky the goat''. Lucky belated in greetings. ''Well Margo and Lucky'' said the mayor, "The Good Witch will see you now''. ''Who's the good witch, Mr Mayor'' Margo asked.
Suddenly, a sparkling glow shimmered down from the clouds, followed by a large, pink bubble. it was so bright Margo had to cover her eyes. She could hear the oohs and ahhs from the crowd. At last the the brightness faded away and Margo could move her arm from over her eyes.
There standing right in front of her, was a tall woman in a pink fashioned dress with glitters and her big crown is sliver. She smiled at Margo. "Hello," the woman said in the most sweetest voice. ''Hello'' said Margo, shyly. "Are you a witch?" the woman asked.
Margo was stunned, ''No I'm just a normal girl''. "No?" the woman cooed. Then she spotted Lucky. "Or is that a witch?". ''No'' said Margo, ''That's a goat called Lucky''. "Baah!" Lucky baaed. ''I'm a little muddled'' said the woman, ''The Munchkins called me cos a new witch has just dropped a house on the wicked witch of the east, and there's the house and here you are and that's all that's left of the wicked witch of the east and so what the Munchkins want to know if you are a good witch or a bad witch?''.
''But I've already told you!'' Margo protested, ''I'm not a witch at all! Witches are old and ugly''. Then she heard someone laughing nearby, ''What was that?'' she asked.
''The Munchkins are laughing cos I am a witch'' replied the woman, ''I'm Glinda, the witch of the north''. 'Suddenly there was a puff of red smoke and there stood another witch but with green skin, but she didn't look nice and friendly.
''I thought you said she was dead?'' Margo said to Glinda. ''That was her sister, the wicked witch of the east'' said Glinda, ''This is the wicked witch of the west, she's worse than the other one!''.
''Who killed my sister?'' asked the witch of the west, ''Who killed the witch of the east?''. Then she saw Margo, ''Was it you?''. ''No'' Margo stammered, ''It was an accident. I didn't mean to kill anybody. ''Well my little pretty'' said the witch of the west, ''I can cause accidents too!''.
''Aren't you forgetting the ruby slippers?'' asked Glinda. ''The slippers? Yes!'' said the witch of the west, she went to look for the slippers, but she couldn't find them anywhere. ''What have you done with them? Give them back to me or I'll…''
''It's too late'' said Glinda, ''There they are!''. She pointed to the ruby slippers that had appeared on Margo's feet as if by magic, ''And there'll they'll stay'' she finished. Margo glanced down and saw that she was indeed wearing the ruby slippers instead of her red and white striped hi-top Converse sneakers.
''Give me back my slippers!'' said the witch of the west, ''I'm the only that knows how to use them, they're no use to you, give them back to me, give them back!''. ''Keep tight inside of them'' Glinda whispered to Margo, ''Their magic must be very powerful or she wouldn't want them so badly''.
''You stay out of this Glinda!'' snarled the witch of the west, ''Or I'll fix you as well!''. Glinda laughed, ''Rubbish'' she said, ''You have no power here. Be gone before somebody drops a house on you!''.
''Very well'' said the witch of the west, ''I'll bide my time. And as for you, my fine young lady'' she said to Margo, ''it's true, I can't attend to you here and now as I'd like, but just try to stay out of my way. Just try! I'll get you, my pretty - and your little goat, too! Ah-hah-hah-hah-hah-hah!''.
Then the witch of the west disappeared in a blast of fire! It's all right'' said Glinda, ##You can get up. She's gone! It's all right. You can all get up. (The Munchkins all get up) Oh! What a smell of sulfer! I'm afraid you've made rather a bad enemy of the Wicked Witch of the West. The sooner you get out of Oz altogether, the safer you'll sleep, my dear.
Oh, I'd give anything to get out of Oz altogether'' said Margo, ''But which is the way back to Kansas? I can't go the way I came''. No, that's true'' agreed Glinda, ''The only person who might know would be the great and wonderful Wizard of Oz himself'' she added giving a munchkin bow.
''The Wizard of Oz? Is he good or is he wicked?'' Margo asked. ''Oh, very good but mysterious'' said Glinda, ''He lives in the Emerald City, and that's a long journey from here. Did you bring your broomstick with you?''.
''No, I'm afraid I didn't'' Margo admitted. ''Well, then, you'll have to walk'' replied Glinda, ''The Munchkins will see you safely to the border of Munchkinland. And remember, never let those ruby slippers off your feet for a moment or you will be at the mercy of the Wicked Witch of the West''.
''But how do I start for Emerald City?'' Margo asked. It"s always best to start at the beginning. And all you do is follow the Yellow Brick Road'' Glinda explained. Margo walked to the yellow brick road and turned back to Glinda.
''But what happens if I...'' she started to ask, but Glinda cut her off. ''Just follow the Yellow Brick Road'' she said and disappeared in her pink bubble. ''Goodbye!'' called the munchkins as the floated away. ''Whoa! People come and go so quickly here!'' Margo exclaimed as the Munchkins nodded and giggled. ''Follow the Yellow Brick Road'' Margo repeated to herself as she made her way along the road, Follow the Yellow Brick Road?''.
