Chapter 4

It was still dark as her eyes opened slightly. Noting the pins and needles feeling in her legs, Regina realised she was on the floor. 'Oh how far the mighty have fallen', it was like she could hear Golds voice in her head trying to goad her, with his silly little giggle. If she were being honest with herself, she didn't care anymore. She has lost Henry, no not lost him, given up. That thought scared her, actually scared the Evil Queen. She had nothing left to fight for. Henry was it, he was the only thing keeping her going and she had lost him.

Reeling at her actions of the evening, she picked up the now empty bottle of cider from beside her, and stood up, steadying herself against the wall for a moment, she placed the bottle on her desk and retired to her room. Walking slowly and painfully up the stairs, only now feeling the extent of her nap on the floor and how much she had had to drink.

Once she was changed and laying in between silk sheets she felt more comfortable, but she was still playing the events that unfolded over and over, it was late, or early, she should get some sleep. No matter how she laid, or what she tried to think of, sleep didn't come easy and she woke many times during the night, at one point she woke forgetting the previous evening, and walked along to Henry's room, only to remember it's empty, and walked slowly back to her own room, painfully aware of the dark silence that surrounded her.

Back at the loft Emma had been grateful for the coffee, motioning to the sofa before sitting down next to her room mate and closest friend.

'I don't know whats going on Mary Margret, I was just leaving the station when I got a text from Henry. I assume he and Regina had an argument. I know its not my place, and against my better judgement, I went to see if I could help, but when I got there Regina just opened the door, told me Henry was in his room and walked away' she took a breath and sipped her coffee.

'Wait. She just let you in? No arguments? Just go get him?' Mary asked clearly as confused as Emma.

'Yeah' she sighed continuing with her recount 'so, I go to his room and he's crying his eyes out MM, I swear my heart broke for the kid. He couldn't even talk he was so upset. So I went and tried to talk to Regina. Try to figure out what has caused him to be so sad, and she just ignored me, went to him, told him to pack a bag and sent us away, just like that' she said, clicking her fingers.

Emma missed out the look of pure sadness and pain Regina showed, and the fact that she had clearly been crying as well. She also missed out the fact that her heart broke for Regina as well, no, that was not something she was ready to say out loud. Something told her that was not something MM would understand, and didn't want to share that detail with her pixie haired roomie.

Mary Margaret just listened, nodding with a thoughtful expression 'about time' she was thinking, as looked at the love in Emma's expression as she spoke to Henry, and she thought of Regina. Looking at her blonde bestie she could tell from the look on Emma's face that now was not the time to express that particular opinion.
