8:50am
The wind was rushing around me at top speed as I hurtled down the dark hole, my red blonde hair flapping wildly. I was caught by a net, and with someones help I unsteadily stumbled out.
The scene changed, I was with Tris, Al, Christina and Will walking around the pit.
The scene changed again and I was in one of the factionless warehouses, talking to my cousin Caleb. Then I was running for my life through the Amity fields, running from the Erudite soldiers.
Then I was in Erudite headquarters a gun in my hand and a dead Erudite scientist at my feet, a hole in his forehead were my bullet had gone through.
Then I was surrounded by factionless soldiers, their guns aimed at me. Then I was walking with Tris through the Bureau, chatting aimlessly, Oh how I missed her. She would have loved what Chicago has become, how united we are now.
Then I was bent over her dead body as she lay limp on the steel table. Sob after sob wracking my body. Christina had her hand over her mouth, eyes wide with surpriseā¦
I bolted upright in my bed, breath coming in uneven pants. It was that nightmare again. The one where it makes, your life flashed before your eyes statement seem so true.
Usually it would be before you die, it was said to give you peace at the end. But that gave me no peace. Just a sickening reminder of the screwed up life I have. Almost everyone I loved or considered a friend is dead.
Al, my friend that I never knew would jump into the chasm, Will, the person that memorised the map of the city for fun, Marlene, the kind light hearted go getter, Lynn, the sassy badass who shaved all of her hair of, Tori, the one all dauntless knew because she worked at the tattoo parlour, the one who gave me the tattoo of brambles trailing up my right arm, Uriah, the big jokester and almost carbon copy of his brother Zeke and Tris my cousin, that I never got the chance to know to well.
I got up and walked into the kitchen and sat down at the table. It still surprised me that out of all of the initiates two and a half years ago only three of us lived, one of us being impaired or should I say changed as Caleb calls it, by the memory serum.
I let out a little chuckle, "Ave Atque Vale" I murmured.
Clary
I was still sitting in the library after what felt like hours mulling over my own thoughts. I still couldn't believe my mother had a brother. I could have cousins out there somewhere, I had family. Well outside of Jace, Izzy, Alec, my mom and Luke of course.
No matter what I would find them, I would keep them safe no matter what. The only problem was my mom had tried to reach her brother so many times but all her efforts were fruitless.
I still couldn't wrap my head around it.
*flashback*
"That was amazing!" I shouted both of us laughing our heads off. Her and Izzy had just came back from the hunt, her hair windblown and her clothes all in disarray, and not even to mention smelling like a sewer.
Izzy however still smelled like a sewer, but her clothes were crisp and un wrinkled and she didn't have a single hair out of place. It still amazed her how she could fight demons and come out looking like nothing ever happened.
They had gotten word of a bunch Ravener demons around 21st street and went to check it out, and the hunt had led them into a dark sewer and a nest full of Raveners.
They had dispatched them easily, and now they were walking through the institute to their rooms for a change of clothes and a much needed shower. It had taken a lot of persuading but her mother and Luke finally let her move into the Institute when she was eighteen. That had been half a year ago.
She said one last thing to Izzy before walking into her room. She raced to the shower and relished the warm water as it washed off the putrid smell. She lathered her hair and body in soap and watched it go down the drain as the water washed it off.
She got a change of clothes which included a pair of jeans and a shirt that said 'made in Brooklynn' and slipped them on.
It was only 3:07 so she didn't want to put on a pair of Pyjamas just yet. She settled don on her bed and grabbed her sketch pad and started to draw. Not soon after there was a knock on her door.
She closed her sketch book and stood up to open it and her mother was there sanding in the threshold. "Mom!" she said hugging her. Clary let her go and saw a nervous expression on her mothers face.
"What is it mom?" she asked "Clary I have something to tell you" she said sounding serious. "May I come in?" she asked "Oh sure" she said a little unnerved by the complete and utter seriousness of her mothers tone.
She stood aside to let her mother through and closed the door after her. As her mother took a seat on her bead she asked "what did you wan't to tell me?".
"Well" she started "you know that your grand parents were killed in a fire set by valentine right?" she asked "Yeah?" said Clary. "Well I had more family than just my parents" she said and taking a deep breath she finished "I had a brother" she said.
*End of flash back*
Those four words turned her life upside down. She had been at loss for words and all she could do was walk out of her room. Her feet had carried her to the library were she sat on the windowsill. Her uncles name was Garette. Garette Fairchild.
Her mother hadn't seen him in years. She had stumbled upon something of his and curiously drew a tracking rune on it. It had worked but the signal was faint barely there.
She was determined to find him so she stood from her perch on the windowsill her legs a little bit stiff from sitting so long and made her way back to her room.
She was going to talk to her mother about this.
