A.N: So, we've recently reached over 20K views, well of 100 Favs, almost 125 Follows and over 150 reviews. I can't stress enough that every single one of you are insane for sticking with me or are now hopping along for the ride. You guys are the best, seriously. Finally, my last exam was over as of 6am this morning, so expect a more consistent update schedule from now on! Onto the Reviews, you madlads (and ladies)!
ChernoAlpha117: Thank you my good man, I'll do my best to keep the punches comin'! :D
SkeenTheDream: Hope I didn't keep you waiting too long dude, the fights are finally here!
God Doesn't Love You: Hmm... not to indulge too much, but Endeavor and Kendo don't exactly mix well. Kinda like how you don't mix fire and dynamite. Yeah, I think that's the best way to put it :P.
Regnas Bredvolts: (Gonna cover both Reviews here if you don't mind) Glad you got where I was going with Kendo's quirk! For me, it makes sense, seeing as Kendo's quirk revolves around the contractions of his muscles. Glad you like the twist of Yu getting first place! And yup, Gilgamesh is technically a canon character in the XD. Read on my dude!
Doctor Snake Eater: (Gonna cover all your Reviews in the one section, hope you don't mind) First off, welcome aboard the train dude! I'm glad you like they way I sprinkled in the references, it's always something that I liked doing to better expand the world that the story takes place in, while still more or less sticking the the laws of said world. And it's cool :P. Naturally, the Laquered technique would have to come from somewhere, right? I thought the U.A Tournament would be a good origin point. Finally, I'm glad you like the vibe of the story dude! I've always been inspired by fighting anime and martial arts, and I wanted to reflect that in BNHA. Thanks for the support dude!
With all that said, onto the show!
Rumble, Young Man Rumble!
Chapter 28
Two Tigers and a Devil…
"Flashing Wrath, SMASH!" There was a sharp snap as Kendo's body turned into a blur, rocketing across the room with speed that belied his size. His tightened fist shot forward, only to hit cool air. Nighteye calmly but rapidly shifted out of the way, his feet blurring across the floor as Kendo skid to a stop.
'Shit, that's three times now,' Kendo kissed his teeth, 'Flashing Wrath is my fastest attack, but I just can't seem to hit him!'
"It's true, that attack of yours in fast," Nighteye said, reading the annoyance on Kendo's face, "But your line of attack is incredibly straight, and therefore predictable. With my quirk, it's overkill."
'Keh, fine then!' He crouched slightly, taking quick but smaller shifts forward, sometimes moving diagonally as he slowly cut off Nighteye and backed him into a corner of the room. Still, the man was calm, utterly composed. Stepping in faster as soon as he felt that there was no escape, Kendo did was he had always done best: he pumped his quirk through his shoulders and arms.
"Wrath Helix!"
A storm of full-body left-rights barrelled at Nighteye, the man's eyes going wide for a split second before he disappeared from sight. 'Eh?' Ducking all the way to a crouch, Nighteye lashed out with his foot, kicking out Kendo's front foot and sending the boy toppling sideways. A sharp push to his torso sent the already airborne boy landing well away from him, rolling across the floor and springing to his feet, much to his credit. 'I was right, but I didn't think I was THAT right,' Kendo thought with a grin, 'It's more than just a body for fighting: he's really strong! He might not hit as hard or weigh as much as me, even if he's just as tall, but he's dangerous!' His eyes darted towards the clock. 'Thirty seconds gone, huh? Still got a bit of time, and there's no time like now to try this out!' Kendo relaxed his stance, standing much more upright as he feet suddenly moved.
Though his advance was slow, his feet moved in a strange, near-unreadable pattern, as if he was dancing to a, erratic beat that only he could hear. His hands and shoulders twitched, moving in small, sharp feints, the very image of his body flickering side to side.
"I actually came up with this yesterday," He chuckled, "Time to see how it works out on a pro. Flashfire!"
Amused and impressed, Nighteye idly circled with Kendo, checking in on his Foresight. 'Sharp jab.' He quickly slipped the punch, knuckles grazing his cheek. 'Closer than I thought,' He noted before using Foresight again, '…Right hook, chopping down.' He weaved under, a grunt of surprise as he was clipped again. He foresaw a left hook and dashed back, grunting again as he was forced to roll his shoulder to deflect it as best as he could, stumbling slightly from the weight behind the blow. 'This is incredibly strange. He should not be grazing me this much… ah, that's it,' He realized, 'That Flashfire technique makes his rhythm entirely unreadable. Even if I can 'see' the movement before he does it, I still have to guess when he'll throw it, even in my Foresight.'
"Raging Flash!" Kendo blasted forward, though the tell-tale crouch had tipped Nighteye off and gave him room to dodge. The boy didn't stop there though, quickly shifting his weight to give chase after Nighteye once more.
'Oh? This is interesting.'
"Swimming Swallow!" Kendo's hands blurred to life, twisting and lashing out at strange angles as he pressed the attack. Immediately, Kendo stifled a grunt of discomfort: forget being warmed up, his muscles were nowhere near flexible enough for a move like this, and it was missing something vital to complete it. Nighteye took full advantage of it, actually stepping toe to toe with the larger boy and rapidly blocking, parrying and redirecting his punches.
"This one has a good deal of potential," He commented, "But I can tell by the strain on your face, it's stretching your muscles to their limits. Thus, you can't put your full power or speed behind them." Nighteye's hand shot out to grab Kendo's wrist, certain of his success.
"That's what I was waitin' for! Phantom Pace!" Nighteye's hand gripped air as Kendo used his momentum and timing to pull off a blurring sidestep. It was a bit messy, the momentum being a bit too much and causing his feet to skid across the floor slightly, but it was more than enough to position him almost right behind Nighteye, and well within Kendo's reach. "SHAA!" Kendo shouted as he shot his fist forward, certain to hit the pro-hero.
"I don't normally like using this, but now's as good a time as any. Epitaph." Without even seeing the punch coming, he smoothly twisted his body away, crouching to the floor once more and preparing to sweep Kendo's feet out. So when his foot slammed into Kendo's leg only for it to rebound as if he had struck steel, he considered himself quite surprised.
"Wrathbreaker!" Nighteye barely managed to roll out of the way as Kendo's fist rocketed into the floor, the ground cracking and heaving under the force of the strike. Seeing an apparent opening, Nighteye was quick to spring to his feet, ready to deliver a chopping kick to the back of Kendo's head. "No time like now to try this! Two-step: Raging Flash!" His body blasted off the floor, rocketing straight into the ceiling. Twisting mid-air, he set his feet on the ceiling and blasted off once more, straight down at Nighteye. "Flashing Wrath, SMASH!"
*BANG*
His fist punched through the floor like butter, buried up to his elbow in stone. And yet, he missed.
*BRRRRIIIING*
He kissed his teeth as he heard the timer finally go of, disappointed that he wasn't able to land properly. The new footwork techniques he'd acquired weren't perfect, and still had a lot of potential, but they weren't enough to give him an edge… yet. He grunted in pain as he felt his calf-muscles lock up and cramp badly, a result of using 'Raging Flash' too many times in close proximity.
"You look disappointed," Nighteye said, amused. "Don't be." Looking up, Kendo grinned as he saw that he hadn't missed, not entirely. His punch had sheared through the front of Nighteye's suit, baring a well trained and incredibly toned. It was also pretty hard to ignore the bruise dragging from his pectoral to his abdomen. "Your footwork is noticeably better than it was during the Tournament, and your technique is certainly sharper. However, your body isn't exactly at the level of strength and flexibility to utilize your new style, is it?" He held out a hand, a professional smile on his face. "We only have a week, but let's see how far you can go, Kendo."
Kendo grinned, gladly taking his hand. "Sorry about your suit boss," He said, a bit embarrassed now that the fight was over.
"That's no issue for me," Nighteye chuckled, walking over to what appeared to be a locker of some sort. Opening it, Kendo struggled not to snort as he saw line upon line of the exact same kind of suit, all of them with vastly different and whacky ties.
'Good lord, he really is just like a salaryman!'
"I think I have I good idea of where you'd like to go, and how to help you improve your skills," Nighteye said after he put on a new suit-top. "Strengthening your body is natural but strengthening it the right way is a must. We'll be working on strength-training, improving your current arsenal and adding new weapons or concepts, and most importantly…" Kendo froze in fear at the way Nighteye looked at him. "Flexibility."
'I am so screwed.'
"Your punches are well-formed but adding kicks to your arsenal is absolutely necessary. Once that is done… then we'll do field work." Fear pushed aside, Kendo was excited as hell: Nighteye was the real deal, there was no doubt in his mind about that. He was looking forward to it. "Oh, and I must ask," Nighteye said, "What is it called?"
"Huh?"
"Your fighting-style. What is its name?" He asked, "Being able to give it a proper name helps visualise your overall techniques, such as how your 'Raging Flash' conjures the specific image of closing the distance at high speed."
"Its name, huh…" Kendo pondered to himself for a while, closing his eyes. '…Well, my hero-name is Rumble, after the Rumble in the Jungle. And in it, there's two fighters… hold on.' He scrunched his eyebrows together, 'Jungle… and instead of fighters, Two Tigers are in the jungle, right? Two Tigers…' He opened his eyes, a lightbulb going off in his head.
"If it's Two Tigers," He said after a moment, "Then… Niko. The Niko Style."
"I have no clue where that came from, or the thought process behind your choice," Nighteye said, earning a bashful chuckle from Kendo, "…but it's a good choice nonetheless. Let's get started right away."
…
'Holy SHIT IMMA DIE!' Rumi thought as she cartwheeled away from a terrifying slash. There was a lull in the battle, Musha and Rumi circling each other for a while as she tried to catch her thoughts. 'Okay, think. He can create and shape metal so long as it's on his body. He can sacrifice his weapons to increase his defence, or vice versa for offense. But he can't do absorb or manipulate metal that isn't touching him. So if I wait for him to utilize his offense, I'll disarm him and shatter his weakened armour!'
Dashing back into the fray, she launched a sharp kick at his face, bating him to attack. He simply drifted back, neither phased by her speed or bothering to put up a guard. Frustrated, she followed up with her back foot, whirling through the air with a hook-kick that again missed. 'OH FUCK!' She hadn't even managed to reset her stance before Musha dashed in, aiming right for her neck. She let herself go limp, the blade barely brushing by her nose before she rolled out of the way of another slash, her teeth grinding in frustration. 'Dammit! I know that his Quirk is Metal Manipulation, but that just means he's that fucking skilled. And the way he moves… he doesn't have any tell. His arm doesn't twitch, he doesn't tense up, he just fucking MOVES!' He moved again and Rumi wanted to groan. 'Gimme a fucking BREAK!'
"KENGAN!" Sparks flew from her eyes as her muscles grew slightly more compact. 'I didn't want to use this, but screw it. I can see him now: all I need is one second!' Indeed, the blade seemed to travel in slow motion, his eyes slowly widening at her sudden transformation.
"HAA!" She shouted, her kick blasting into his hand and shattering the blade. She didn't stop there, using her full momentum and lashing out right at Musha's chest. "Luna STRIKE!" Her heel hit his chest dead on, the heavy-metal armour shattering like glass under the raw speed and force of her strike. He was send skidding backwards, the shattered pieced of his armour scattered around the room and out of his reach, leaving him in a coarse black karate-uniform, devoid of markings. Despite being hit dead on, he didn't flinch whatsoever, setting himself in a basic karate-stance.
"Not bad at all," He commented, "But the fight isn't over yet."
"Tch," He kissed her teeth, immediately shutting of Kengan. She didn't want to risk any drawbacks, especially when she was a step away from winning. "You asked for it old man!" She shot herself right at him, whirling through the air before she lashed out with a final roundhouse kick. 'When it comes to raw physical ability, my quirk alone is always gonna outperform your training! This match is mine!'
"Luna VORTEX!"
"Recoilless, Six Straight Punches."
In an instant, Rumi felt like she was shot with multiple tank-missiles, twice in her gut, twice in her solar-plexus, and twice in her face, her nose instantly spurting blood. She fell to the floor, her body seizing up at the waves of pain that slammed into her. 'What in the ACTUAL FUCK just hit me!?' She tried to scramble to her feet, looking up and hastily throwing up a punch at Musha's stomach. Again, his fist just seemed to appear in front of her face, forcing her to stop.
"You have died once."
Spitting blood from her mouth, she refused to stay down, intent on at least changing the colour of his face. Her body sprang up into a point-blank roundhouse, only for him to gently move to the side and grab her ankle and a hand to appear right on her neck, poised to chop.
"Twice."
Gritting her teeth, she yanked her foot out, setting her feet and punching straight for his chin, her full speed behind the blow. Once more, he slipped right by it, his calloused hand roughly grabbing her by the face and yanking straight down, the back of her head crashing into the floor hard enough to splinter wood.
"That's three times. You appear to be done now."
Indeed, she looked like a mess. Bloody lips and nose, bruises forming under her clothes, and her unfocused eyes thanks to the concussion. Even still, she looked right at him, scowling. "I'm… still… awake." Sparks flew from her eyes. Musha sighed.
*BANG*
Not hesitating for a second, he slammed his fist right into her face, the floor cracking even further under his strike. Rumi's eyes rolled into her head, her body going limp. 'That force is just enough to render her unconscious with no lasting damage. Still, her persistence is commendable, if not somewhat sloppy at times.' All of a sudden, he winced in pain as his cheek throbbed. His eyes widened as he looked at her unconscious form: everything was limp except her left fist raised in the air.
He stared at her for a bit longer, before a small chuckle worked its way up his throat. 'Well now… if I wasn't sure about bringing you in before, there's no doubt about it now. You're interesting, Rumi Usagiyama.'
(To Be Continued…)
A.N: Yoroi Musha's quirk and fighting style hasn't been revealed yet, so I wanted to give my own twist to him! As the 'Armoured Warrior' his quirk allows him to absorb any kind of metal and store it in his body. He can go on to create anything with that stored metal, such as weapons and armour, hence why he's called the Equipped hero: he's literally equipped at all times. However, when I first saw him I wondered, what happened if he ran out of equipment, or who is he without the suit? Well, good-ol' martial arts is the answer! Didn't reveal too much of his combat ability here, but he's earned the number five spot for a reason. Anyone who knows the two references to his character, see if you can find out ;D. Hope you enjoyed, and peace out!
