Author Note
So I've had this idea for a walking dead FF for a while, as a guy there's very few out there that let you put yourself in there. Majority are Female OCxDaryl and the like, which there's nothing wrong with, I will confess to reading a few of those myself and they were pretty good. There's just not enough Male OC FF out there for it, so I decided to give it a try.
This story will mainly help me 1) get this story out of my head, and 2) I want to use this to help me get better at describing the setting or how the mood is and especially getting better at writing dialogue for various characters.
And yes, I'm beating the "loner, abused, slow to trust" horse in this FF just like many others, but it is a tried a true method and there are quite a few I can refer to for different thing. Not gonna outright copy them mind you, but will definitely draw inspiration from them. But even with the MC being like this I plan to make him seem happy, friendly and over the top as his "facade, or coping mechanism" but he's also really enjoying the apocalypse because he feels free, and anybody that tries to take that freedom away may not live to see the next day ;)
Ruthless, smart, cunning all that good stuff. I guess you could consider this character OP, it's not like he can't die or doesn't have faults, but he's proficient with most weapons, guns, blades bow. You name it, he's used something at least similar to it. And because he's enjoying himself and doesn't really care if he dies since he has no one to really tie himself to, so he's not gonna freeze up or get squeamish when it comes time to kill.
Potential mature themes in the future, definitely gonna be cussing, but I'm not gonna use any slurs even if they said them in the show and I hope people can respect that. Just don't want to have to write that kind of stuff. I'll either censor it, if it was from the show or just not have my MC there when it happens. Ex: on the the roof in Atlanta with Merle and T-Dog. I also might decide to add some sexual elements later on. Even if the MC is slightly emotionally stunted, he's still a 20 year old man that just so happens to look good, and just so happens to be extremely fit. So look out for that kind of stuff in the future.
READ THIS IF NOTHING ELSE-(Let this also serve as a warning for there being all kinds potential bad things, such as rape and torture, all of it will be for the most part only implied, or it will get really close to happening only for the MC or someone else to save them. And that's only if I feel like it's something that should or would have happened in real life. Because I don't think they made walking dead near as realistic as they could have, and I feel like putting warning at the beginning of each chapter ruins the immersion and the shock or the story, so let this be a general warning that anything can and possibly will happen, but it won't be every chapter or even every other chapter. It will only be used to get a point across of how bad people would be in the apocalypse so please don't hate me too much, and I'm sorry if any future chapters offend or make you uncomfortable.
Thanks again and please enjoy the story.
I've had to live with a caretaker/tutor since I was 7 years old. That's how old I was when my parents died in a car accident, it probably didn't help them I cut their brakes that morning, but I don't regret it. Ever since I could remember both my parents were drunks that that would beat, cut and burn me. Growing up like that I just thought it was the way things went. They would always say it was my fault, and if ever told anyone about them they would punish me more.
I know now that it was just to keep them from getting in trouble with the police. They always told it was marks showing how bad I've been and if I don't want people to know I'm a bad person to not let anyone see. So I didn't. I spent my first 6 years believing this, and it was after watching different shows and reading different books that I found out this wasn't normal or right for that matter. So I started planning on how to get back at them.
I had spent that year planning, and getting better at acting. It's amazing the kind of things you can learn from books and shows. Meditation to control your emotions, different facial expressions and how people will interpret them. How you should act to endear people to you. All this absorbed by a determined 6 going on 7 year old. I knew that even with training unless I somehow got a gun there wasn't much I could do to them, but then I also realized that if I killed them that could be make things difficult later in life.
Sure a lot of people would realize I did it to escape my abusers, but I've seen and read enough to know that even then people will still avoid you. Not be as genuine. Because they know, they know you've killed people. So i decided I will find a way to kill them, but just indirectly. And the perfect candidate for that is cutting their brakes and letting them get into a "car accident". Pretty simple once I found different books in the library on how to be a mechanic and what different parts are.
King County Public Library really was the only place I could truly feel safe. With Dad and Mom gone for most of the day at work, I had plenty of time to read. I don't know how people like them were able to get rich, this world truly is backwards. If they can have successful jobs and then come home just to abuse their son, something can't be right.
One good thing coming out of them being rich and young and thankfully stupid, all the money they made and the money from their life insurance went to me. And it was enough that I could live comfortably for the rest of my life as long as I didn't needlessly splurge on things I didn't need. I was a assigned a caretaker who would live at my parents house with me, but I wanted to sell it and all my parents stuff to move into a smaller house. I did not want to live there anymore.
As a kid who started watching super hero shows and reading comics and books, my character really could be considered the Alfred type. Older man who was smart enough to tutor me, but also was trained in many different types of guns as well as a few different martial arts. Which I obviously had him train me in.
Once I reached age 15 he passed away from a sudden heart attack. That was the first time I felt genuinely sad for someone that died, and also the last. I was now old enough to not need a caretaker, so I decided to just live alone focusing on my weapons and martial arts training. Keeping to a regimen of:
Waking up at 5am
Meditate for 1 hour
Light stretching into a 3 mile run
Then practice with whatever melee weapon I'm training with at the moment for 2 hours
Shower
Eat a light breakfast at 9:30
Free time from then until lunch at 12:30
Then go outside to my makeshift shooting range to keep up my training for an hour or so and clean the guns after.
Then more free time till I decide to go bed
I do take at least one day off a week sometimes multiple if I'm exceptionally sore or got injured. This got me regular visits to the local hospital, Harrison Memorial Hospital. Just about every week I was in there getting patched up for one thing or the other. It got to the point that I decided to get a book on how to dress and clean wounds, so that I didn't have to keep going back unless it was really bad.
Most people would think I don't look as strong or deadly as I actually am. I'm 6 foot tall, but I'm more lean than muscular. I'm deceivingly strong especially with the clothes I wear. I never wear tight fitting clothes unless it's my stretchy training suit I wear when working with my different melee weapons. My eyes always seem lazy and uninterested. A light blue that people seem to love since I always get compliments on the color. And I know the nurses definitely like my shoulder length sleek black hair, always telling me they wish they had hair like mine.
I'm also proud to say I have a very light footstep, I seem to always sneak up to people even when I don't necessarily mean to. I'm one step closer to being a ninja, hah. But seriously maybe I should be a vigilante or something. Just get a mask and head to Atlanta, and beat up some bad guys. Could be fun.
I got a police scanner just for this purpose. Surely 20 is old enough to start beating up bad guys, I surely feel strong and skilled enough to beat up some normal street thugs. Just get some rope to tie them up and leave them for cops to take away. Yep, I'm doing it. Starting in King County, then I'll work my way into Atlanta after I get comfortable with it.
Sitting in my living room while reading a book on various knots that are best for keeping someone from moving, interestingly enough a lot of them seem to be used in bondage play nowadays. Not for me, but to each their own. I have to be in control, I don't think I could handle being tied and not able to move. Just gotta keep training and hope that never happens. Then I heard the scanner go off
"All available units, high-speed pursuit in progress. Linden County units request local assistance. Highway 18 eastbound GTA, ADW, 2-17, 2-4-3. Advise extreme caution."
"Damn, that sounds awesome." I remark out loud
It's just 5 minutes through the woods behind my house to the highway if I run. I'm not quite sure what ADW means but GTA is grand theft auto, so they stole a car. I should definitely go check this out.
As I was getting my pistol and putting on my boots I hear the scanner go off again.
"Suspects are two male caucasians. Be advised they have fired upon police officers. One Linden County Officer is wounded."
"Wow, this just gets better, these are definitely the kind of people I need to see."
And with that I was out the door at a quick jog through woods and then through the fields, where I could hear the wail of sirens going off just a little farther ahead of me. Once I got there I hid behind a bush just a couple dozen feet away from one car that was angled in the lane across from me, while another car up ahead I could see a pair of cops laying out a spike trap and then reversing to stop beside their fellow cops.
Looks like there are 4 of them, 2 for each car. 3 are holding pistols and one hopped out with a pump shotgun. I don't about these cops though, I mean that one is standing up with almost no cover and doesn't even look like he know how to hold a pistol.
I can barely hear them talking but I swear I heard the one that doesn't know how to hold his guns say something about getting on one of those cop video shows for high speed chases. Jesus, I feel sorry for those other cops.
Oh my God he didn't even have a round in or his safety off. How do these people get hired? I mean it's King County but damn, at least a little training and discipline might be helpful.
Well I don't see those guys getting past here. Ooohh they hit the spikes and went into a brutal series of flips.
"1. 2. 3. 4. 5 and almost 6 flips, damn no way they aren't all busted up after that. This was a waste."
Oh shit one just got out and started firing, oh mr. officer you shouldn't stay standing straight up in the open like that you're gonna get-
"Shot..." sigh
Are these guys actually idiots? And how do they not hit one guy that's not moving? He's barely 20 yards from them. I could hit him in the head from at least twice that with a pistol. Oh, here comes another one out the side, at least this is the last one so that they can get him to the hospital.
"RICK!"
Must be the guy who got shot's name. Deputy Dumbass if I've ever seen one. How have these guys lived this long. Also seems like he's fine, maybe he had a vest on. Hmmmm I need to get me one of those, that could come in real handy. Not as entertaining as I hoped but still learned that the cops here are terrible shots and that I should invest in a police vest.
Narrowing my eyes I think I see something moving by the car, like coming out of the car. Didn't they say there were only 2 suspects? Jesus can't trust anybody out here to do their job right. And I can't shoot because then they will want to know what I was doing here this whole time. Guess I'll just see how this all plays out. Maybe shoot once everyone else is shooting.
See guys! The bad guy hit him one fucking shot, that's how you shoot your gun. Oh wait, I'm kinda rooting for the wrong team here. Oh now his partner hits the guy in one shot. Guess nothing left for me, might as well head on back.
It's been a little over a month since I saw that shootout with deputy dumbass and the 3 stooges. And who the hell would have thought zombies would be the next big thing. I mean damn, is this karma for making fun of those cops. I was staying at my house for a while, but then the power and water finally went out, so I figured it was about time I start looking for some other place.
That's when I thought of the hospital, surely they will still have power and running water. Those places are supposed to have back up generator and this one even has its own water tower. But I know the military was keeping control of that place for a couple weeks, nothing wrong with checking it out at least. OH! And the police department, I should check it first. It might have guns and ammo, not that I really need that but it could hurt. And it's concrete and metal walls will be much better than my wood ones. It's a deal, I make my home at the police department and loot the hospital until I need to move again.
I grab up a few duffel bags and start loading up all my pistols, I only have a couple bolt rifles and one AR. I probably should have bought more, but at least now they'll be free haha. I get my two 20 inch kukri blades and sheaths and attach them to my belt. A 9mm pistol in a thigh holster on my right leg. The police vest I had custom made to be slightly thinner and completely black, it also has 10 pockets on the front for my throwing knives. It's over a thin and stretchy black long sleeved shirt, with a black sleeveless hooded jacket on over the top of the vest. My ninja like pants that I always wore for working out with melee weapons. Perfect mobility and aren't too hot.
Putting my hair up into a single low ponytail to keep it from blowing everywhere. A black face masks that comes up from black sleeved under shirt to cover my nose and mouth, put some smell goods in there to help with the horrible stench these zombies have. Also has the additional plus side of covering my face and helping me not stand out if I'm moving at night. Lastly I put on my hiking boots.
The rest of my clothes go into a couple suit cases and I even packed up some of my favorite books and some educational books that I may need with this apocalypse.
Loading up the last of my water and non perishable foods into the back of my pick up truck I head off to the police department.
Pulling up to the King County Police department I pull my truck up to the gate that leads to where the cops have their cars parked to. I quickly get my truck through and lock it back up, then back my truck up to the door so I can unload all my stuff. Hopefully they got some beds in here because regretfully I didn't think of that.
I'm in heaven. The gun cage has plenty of weapons, I thank past me for being so fucking stingy. It's like past me knew I would be able to find all these free weapons. Truly a seer on the level of Mother Theresa. A nice variety of handguns, shotguns and a few rifles. And lots and I mean lots of ammo. Lovely.
I decided to make my room the office of the Chief of Police. Nice and spacious, plenty of room, nice big desk, and a very comfy chair. Leaving all my stuff there I check out the rest of building and I find exactly what I'd been hoping for. Showers.
This just be heaven. No bills to pay, no people harassing you when you're just trying to walk down the street. Well, never mind I take that back. These zombies are quite needy annoying little bugs. Coming up and trying bite me when I'm just strolling down the road. At least people before didn't do that. But it's actually kind of fun to finally get to put all my hard work into action. Pulling out my kukris and just going to town on these moving targets, slowly, but still moving nonetheless.
Finally deciding to go loot the hospital for everything I can I suit up in what I'm now deeming my looting gear, all black, both kukris and a pistol with a silencer, couple of extra mags I keep in my throwing knife slots. Throwing knives would work on humans just fine, but even I can't consistently hit one in the eye at a distance that would make them worth more than magazines for my pistol. So 5 of the 10 slots go to my 15 round mags and the other 5 for throwing knives in a just in case sort of deal.
When I got there I noticed the horrible stench and immediately pulled up my face mask, taking a deep inhale of the pleasant cinnamon smell.
"Ahhhh, that's better."
Holy shit, the hospital looks terrible what the hell happened here. Some of the wall are broke and destroyed. I disregard that for now because what I was really searching for is off to the left, so I slowly pull my truck up to where the military had set up a little camp. That's when I see to the immediate right just dozens, probably hundreds of dead bodies lined up in the ground and some even piled on trucks.
"Jesus this place went to hell, thank fuck I never came here."
Anyway back to the camp. The supplies are pretty low, but it doesn't seem looted. And there's a lot of MREs piled up in several of these tents. My luck just keeps getting better. I'm thankful but how have people not looted this yet. Oh well more for me. Also all these humvees, surely they still work, those would be so much better than this little pick up truck. I imagine I could run right over a whole horde of those fucking zombies and keep going.
Testing one out and sure enough it's trying to crank, but just needs a jump so I get out and get my jumper cables and try again. I feel like a kid on Christmas, I now have a military grade vehicle and there's plenty here, with gas tank containers in back, so channeling my inner delinquent i set about siphoning all the gas from the dozen other humvees, as well as taking the wheels off a few to take back to my new home with me. Better to be safe than sorry.
Thankfully I was able to find a nice sized trailer to put the tires and gas tanks on. I start gathering up all the MREs and just stacking them anywhere they can fit. 10 gas tanks, hundreds of MREs and 12 tires later. And when I say hundred I would say it's closer to a thousand than not. Jugs of water. Sadly there were only 10 military semi auto rifles, I'm not a gun expert, but I they look like what they call m-16s from the movies, so that's what I'm gonna call them. And enough ammo for each rifle to have to have a full clip. Each mag holds 30 rounds a piece so a nice 300 rounds total.
"Need to hit the library again for some more books, maybe mechanic stuff and different info about military rifles. Maybe I can even learn to fly a helicopter. Don't really know what I would use it for, but you never know."
Well I came here to loot the hospital but ended up spending the whole time looting the military camp, guess I'll just do a quick sweep and see if I can't find anything. Thankfully most hospitals keep their main supply room on the bottom floor, so entering with a couple duffel bags, I start making my way around the hospital.
One kukri in one hand and a flashlight in the other, it only take about 10 minutes until I come across a nice little room behind a ring of desks that says "supply room"
Mind you I don't know much about the various medicines, but figured anything ending in "-cilin" or ointment might be something to grab.
"Yup, its official, I'm definitely going to the library and figuring out what hell all these different names mean and what they do."
One duffel bag full with what I'm hoping is essential medicines and multiple bottles of different vitamins and pain killers. I may not know a lot of medicines, but I do know Vicodin, and oxcycodone.
Now I'm making my way to the cafeteria to see if they have any canned goods because and any boxed/ packaged foods. Anything in fridges or freezers won't be worth taking. One the smell tells me it's spoiled and two I'm pretty much set on food already. Some unlucky bastard can take his chances opening up that nasty ass fridge. When I make it to the back room I realize I'm gonna need some more bags.
Opening the door I see at least a hundred assorted vegetable cans, and I'm talking big industrial sized cans. There were some garbage bags in the corner so hopefully I can snag them all.
Multiple trips later and the sun starting to set I finally have gotten everything I came for and more. Slight recap.
Close to a thousand MREs
A fucking Humvee
10 full gas tanks
12 humvee tires
Oh and also decided it would be smart to grab their batteries. Never know when you may need a new one after all. And honestly I don't know if regular truck batteries will work with humvees, and I sure as hell don't know where to get more, so I'm definitely grabbing all the batteries.
Around a hundred assorted cans of vegetables
Duffel bags full of various medicines.
Guns and ammo
I've got to be the best damn looter in the whole apocalypse. Now to get back to the police station, unload, shower, meditate and then sleep. Library tomorrow, maybe a local mechanic shop to get set of their tools.
"Yup, sounds like a plan." I mumble nodding to myself."
A week after my hospital run I had been living the good life. Going outsides killing some of the zombies as my work out to keep my skills sharp. The most I've seen so far has only been about 10 at any one time, so nothing crazy. I found out that about half the medicine I grabbed will actually be useful. I mean medicine is medicine don't get me wrong, but I don't really have need for some of them. Maybe if I ever join a group it will come in handy.
"Wait, a group of course! How could I be so dumb, that would be way more fun than just sitting here."
Of course I'm probably safer here and people can be really annoying, but I've been missing my favorite past time. People watching. Nothing is better than catching people doing something they don't want you to see or know. Random ticks and unconscious habits people have. Figuring out what kind of job or life they have or lived based off little everyday things that most people would over look. I definitely miss that.
As if the heavens and God himself heard me I hear someone opening one of the side doors to my home. Curious, after so long I honestly didn't think anyone would ever come here and that I would have to go out to find people.
Peeking out from between the blind of my room I see three shadows moving through the building, quite carelessly I might add. Did they not see the humvee or my truck? These guys have no caution whatsoever. Maybe I should jump out and scare them? Nah they just because they aren't cautious doesn't mean they won't have a twitchy trigger finger. So for now I will observe them and see if I know them. Living in King County all my life, if they are from here I probably know them or have at least seen them.
Wait that one guy looks familiar, hmmm surely it can't be. Is that Deputy Dumbass? Damn he actually ended up surviving, can't believe I ever doubted that guy. Standing in the doorway of my room with my hands up I give a nice friendly greeting.
"Deputy Dumbass is that you? You survived that gunshot?" I exclaim loud enough to get them to jump and swivel around to me, weapons raised.
"Whoa whoa whoa now, let's be friends. Sorry for spooking you, but I honestly thought I was seeing a ghost when you walked in." I grin
Gun still raised at me, deputy dumbass or should i say Rick. Looks me over but it's clear he doesn't recognize me.
"Who are you? And , did you call me "deputy dumbass"?"
He honestly looks genuinely confused haha. I'm gonna take a second to respond just long enough to make him uncomfortable and feel like he needs to speak again and then start. When I see his body start to slowly tense and his cheek muscles begin to move I finally respond.
"Well as for the Deputy Dumbass, I was there that day you got shot by those guys in the stolen car. They really should have trained you guys better, just walking out standing right in the open of a shootout."
Swallowing and shifting me feet to seem nervous I continue.
"Hope you don't mind Mr Rick Grimes sir. As for my name, it's William Margrove or Will for short."
Rick truly does look exasperated on the inside, I don't know if it's because of how I outed him to his 2 companions for being an idiot. Holstering his pistol I finally start to let my arms down.
"I gotta say I'm surprised you lived, it looked like that last guy got you real good. I might have to stick with you because you seem to have someone on high looking out for you."
That's when I see a bit of sadness spread across his face and with a weak chuckle he responds.
"Ya real lucky. Woke up from a coma in a hospital to all this-" he gestures around with his hand "going on. And no trace of my wife, son or best friend."
"And who are your 2 compadres there, are they trying to also ride the Rick train on out of this mess?" Gesturing to Duane and Morgan.
I know who they are but I can't let them know that, that would be no fun, especially since they would be suspicious of me. Hmm I guess the wife didn't make it, Jenny I believe. Actually a very sweet woman from what I observed. Those three were quite the family, but soft families I imagine are some of the first to lose people.
"Uh Will, this Morgan and his son Duane, they actually saved me off from one of the walkers when I was still not sure if what was happening was real. Though watch out for Duane, he's got a mean swing with a shovel." He chuckles with actual humor in his eyes.
Chuckling to myself, I can only imagine what was going through his head after he got smacked by a kid with a shovel.
"Nice to meet you Mr. Morgan and Duane." I respond with a big smile and head nod.
"You as well, Will." Morgan replies for both of them.
"Will, we are actually here to stock up. I'm going to Atlanta to look for my my family, and I think they are going back to their house they are staying at. Also hoping the showers still work."
"Yaaaa, I didn't want to say anything, but y'all definitely stink almost as bad as the dead, or walkers as y'all call them. Nice name that, I'm definitely taking it." I lean back playfully waving a hand in front of my nose
"The showers are still going, but I imagine there's only about a week left of hot water, so go get one while you can." I say while pointing down the hall towards the showers.
"Atlanta though... I wouldn't recommend that, the city has practically been over run for a couple weeks now." Shifting my face into a frown mixed with concern
All those acting classes and practicing in the mirror is really paying off right now, who knew with less people in the world I would be acting more than I ever did before.
"Wait, are you sure? What about the CDC and the refugee center? Surely the military is keeping it running." Rick with obvious distress questioned.
"I'm sure, you can go there yourself and check it out. Hell if you're going I want to go too. You're seeming like a real rabbits foot right now, and I've been getting kind of lonely here."
"Ya, I'm going. I have to find my family and if there's a chance they might have went to Atlanta I have to as well. Especially if it's been over run." He responded with determination, though not done he continues.
"Will, how long have you been here? It almost seems like you've been bunkered up in here."
"Indeed. I've been here for about a week and a half, and was planning on staying longer since I got so much from the little military camp by the hospital, a bunch of stuff from the hospital itself." I nonchalantly reply with a shrug.
"Do you mean Harrison Memorial?"
"Ya, I raided it about a week ago. Why?"
"Because we just missed each other by a few days. I woke up there just yesterday to all this from my coma."
I'm honestly laughing in the inside from this, Rick just seems to keep getting better. I mean who the fuck survives in a hospital in a coma during the apocalypse. Makes it down the road without getting attacked, only to get whacked over the head by a kid with a shovel. Rick is going to be an endless source of entertainment. I just know it.
"Jesus, Rick I'm glad you made it out okay. That sounds horrible waking up to this from the inside of the hospital. Especially seeing all those bundled up dead bodies right outside." I say sounding as genuine as I possibly can.
"I would love to help you get your family back." I say with and much sincerity as I can muster.
It proves fruitful when Rick gets a big warm grin on his face and extends his hand out to me.
"Thank you Will, I would be very much grateful for your help." Meeting his hand, I give him a firm shake.
"Well, y'all go get washed up and I'll start packing my stuff up in my humvee." I turn to start gathering my stuff, but Rick speaks up again.
"A humvee?"
"Ya, you saw that military camp and didn't think to get yourself one? Oh Rick you've gots lot to learn my naive friend." I chuckle at his expense.
They finally start to make there way to the showers and I get to packing all my supplies.
About thirty minutes later they come out with their supplies and Rick has a bag of guns I'm assuming he got from the gun cage. Looks like he also gave Morgan one of the rifles, and a couple pistols. Interesting. Honestly with how he is I'm surprised he didn't give him more guns. Looks like he also handed Morgan a walkie talkie. Damn those things look old, do they even work anymore? Apparently they do, look at me questioning Rick even after all this.
They were saying their goodbyes when all three of their heads turn towards the gate. Oh look, that looks like the idiot who couldn't even hold his gun. Figures he's have died. Careless and dumb is right Deputy Dumbass. Little hesitant to shoot it seems, but oh well, that'll change. Can't afford to hesitate anymore even if you used to know them.
Hopping in the Humvee together we set off with me in the driver seat him in the passenger. Giving a brief horn tap between me and Morgan as we head separate ways.
We mostly rode in silence until we got a little to a park area.
"Hey, can you stop for a minute, I got something I need to do."
Not seeing anything wrong with it I start to slow down to a stop with a nod. I'm honestly pretty curious what he thinks he needs to do.
"You mind if I come with you?" Looking towards him.
With a brief nod "c'mon"
Both of us hop out the humvee and at first it feels like we are just walking randomly until I notice I slight trail that has grass crushed down, with bits of blood trailing through. After a minute or two we come across a walker with its lower half missing. Quite gruesome honestly, but now I'm curious if Rick knew them.
Walking up and kneeling next to it, I hear him whisper.
"I'm sorry this happened to you." Then he pulled out his pistol and shot it.
Not as much hesitation this time but for some reason sadder looking, so strange Rick you are definitely paying off with how interesting you are. Quickly standing and turning around we make our way back to the humvee in companionable silence. I'm really starting like Rick, most people can't stop talking, but he seems think almost as much as I do. Ahhh a person to observe without all the annoying conversation. But then he had to ruin it. Sigh, I guess even ole double D, deputy dumbass, has his short comings.
"So Will" I look over towards him "what did you do before all this? I mean you're dressed like a ninja or something, with 2 swords on your hip and all blacked out, a pistol, rifle over your back. If I had to guess I would think you were some kinda of military or special forces, especially with how quiet you walk. I haven't heard a single step since I've met you."
I give a breathy chuckle in response, maybe he's not so bad after all.
"Well, I will take that as compliment considering I've never even left King County, and I'm entirely self trained." I say smirking to myself
The look on Rick's face is priceless, I don't know whether to laugh out loud or what.
"Damn, well either way I'm glad to have you with me. Thanks again."
"No problem, double D" oh did I say that out loud
"Double D?" He questions with an amused face
"Haha, ya double D rolls off the tongue better than deputy dumbass."
He didn't look too amused anymore, but I sure found it funny.
"Don't worry Rick, I'll save it only for the perfect moments. And I feel there will be plenty of them in the future." I chuckle out as I give him a brief clap on shoulder.
He gives a drawn out shake of his head with another smile. We reach the humvee and continue our journey to Atlanta.
This is gonna be so fun! I can't help but feel giddy inside.

Okay first I apologize for how long this chapter ended up being. I just started writing and writing and the wrote some more while I was watching the first episode of TWD to get an idea for how I was gonna write this.
Hopefully none of you are too mad, and actually enjoyed the read. This one was honestly so long because I wanted to intro our MC as good as possible to give you an idea of what to expect, but I honestly wasn't expecting myself to write this much and still not make it to the end of the 1st episode lol.
Tell me how you liked Will. I hope I was able to get across what kind of character I want him to be. Cunning, tricksy, silver tongued and most importantly how he's actually enjoying the apocalypse while others are just barely hanging on living day to day. You'll definitely get to see more of that next chapter when he gets to let lose in Atlanta and surprise everyone with his skills.
Also should I have MC pursue Amy when he makes it to the camp? I've read quite a few FF and almost all of them have Amy die still. Not sure how I'll do it, since when they go back to get Merle obviously Will is gonna go with Rick. Maybe I'll just wait for Beth. Not gonna take Maggie away from Glenn, he deserves her. Carol and Andrea are slightly out of the age range I'm looking for if I remember right they are both almost 30 or already 30.
Also remember MC IS MANIPULATIVE. He's gonna find out about Shane Lori, but he's not gonna say anything because he wants to see what will happen and how Rick will respond. Obviously Will, will become friends with Daryl because he's another interesting person. Sticking with a group that left his brother, no matter how much of an asshole Merle, it's still amusing to me.
Also just think of what Will is gonna do once he see Ed. Will is an observer, he's obviously gonna see the signs. Should be fun to write.
Gonna still have them go to the CDC because I honestly enjoy those episodes and there's plenty of things MC can puppeteer for his amusement. Alright enough from me.
Thank you if you're a still reading this and I hope you come back! I'll try to be as consistent as possible but I can't promise anything. Also if you like Pokémon, I've actually got one chapter up on my profile for another FF and plan on another Pokémon FF with a different story line. Both of those should be fun too. Let me know what you think and why I should to make the characters really feel like different characters, I always end up feeling like I didn't do a good job representing a character.
