ACT 2 - SCENE SET 3
EXT. AMSTERDAM HALL - DAY (Scene 3.1)
START SCENE
Prentiss and JJ arrived at Amsterdam Hall, an upperclassmen residence hall at GWU, where Beth Summers was living as she finished out her senior year as a Political Science major. Hotch decided to send the two women as he thought a young college student would be more likely to talk about her friend's possible affair with women, rather than two older men.

INT. AMSTERDAM HALL - DAY (Scene 3.2)
START SCENE
As the two female FBI agents walked into the building, passing (mostly male) students gawked at the two women with guns on their hips. When they got into the elevator, JJ chuckled
Prentiss: Teenage Boys, right?
JJ: Yup. So Garcia said these two were sorority sisters, Mara was her Big?
Prentiss: Big?
JJ: You weren't into the Greek Life scene in school?
Prentiss, laughing: No
JJ: A big is basically just an assigned mentor, like a "big sister" but you tend to get really close with each other
Prentiss: So she would definitely know if Mara had a secret relationship with a married Senator 38 years her senior?
JJ: Oh, absolutely. I told my sorority sisters everything- every guy, every date
Prentiss: So you were a sorority girl?
JJ: I guess, yeah
Prentiss, laughing: Why am I not surprised?
As Prentiss spoke, the elevator came to a stop and the doors opened. The two stepped out and turned a corner to head to Beth's dorm. When they arrived, JJ knocked on the door.
Beth, a blonde woman in sweats opened the door.
Beth: Umm, hi?
It was obvious that the younger woman had been crying
JJ: Hi, My name is Jennifer Jareau, We're with the FBI, can we ask you a few questions about your friend Mara?
Beth nodded.
Beth: You guys are trying to find who killed her?
Prentiss: We are.
Beth let the two agents in and sat on her bed, crossed legged
Beth: What do you want to know?
JJ: Did you know if she was seeing someone? Maybe someone she wasn't supposed to?
Beth nodded again
Beth: You mean Patricke
JJ: Patricke Earle- the senator?
Beth: Yeah. She met him at some event on the hill.
JJ: And she, she told you?
Beth: It was kind of an open secret.
JJ and Prentiss shared a confused look
Prentiss: People knew? As in, do you think his wife knew?
Beth nodded
Beth: She definitely knew. Mara said she caught them together once. Wait- do you think she did this?
JJ: We don't know, but thank you for the information, you've been very helpful
Prentiss and JJ left, but not before giving her a card and telling her if she had any more information not to hesitate to call.

INT. BAU INTERROGATION ROOM - DAY (Scene 3.5)
START SCENE
Hotch and Prentiss walk into the interrogation room where Katharine Earle, and her lawyer, Russell Becker are sitting.
Becker: Are you actually attempting to charge my client, a well respected pillar of the community, with the murder of her husband? For which she has an airtight alibi?
Neither Hotch nor Prentiss acknowledged this comment
Hotch: Being wealthy does not mean you aren't capable of crime
Katharine scoffed
Prentiss: Mrs. Earle, did you know your husband was having an affair?
Katharine: No.
Prentiss: You're sure? You never caught them at the Potomac Lodge on a Sunday morning when Patricke had told you he was away for work?
Katharine looked taken aback
Becker: My client does not have to answer these questions
Hotch: Answer the question. Were you aware of your husband's affair with Mara Brenton or not?
Katharine looked at her lawyer, then down at her nails
Katharine: Yes, I knew Patricke was cheating on me, but I didn't kill him. Or the girl.
Prentiss and Hotch shared a glance, then exited the room
Hotch: I don't think she did it. She seems too accepting of the affair to have commited or arranged murder
Prentiss: Okay, but then who did?
Hotch: I think we need to pay the congressmen another visit. He seemed a little too eager to implicate Katharine
Prentiss nods. The scene ends
END SCENE
INT. CANMORE'S OFFICE - LATE AFTERNOON (Scene 3.6)
START SCENE
Rossi and Hotch again enter Canmore's office.
Canmore: Agents, what else can I do for you?
Rossi: You said Mara Brenton was very private and you only had an inkling that she was seeing someone- but you didn't know who.
Canmore: Yes, that's correct
Hotch: You also said you heard rumors about the senator.
Canmore: Yes, that's correct
Rossi: Here's the thing- Mara's boyfriend- it was the Senator, but it wasn't much of a secret. His wife knew. People knew she knew
Canmore: And?
Rossi: I think you knew that they were having an affair and wanted to point us at Katharine
Canmore, laughing: Now why would I do that?
Rossi: I have no idea.
Hotch: What are you hiding, Congressman?
Canmore: Nothing! Is it wrong to want to not accuse my dead aide of adultery outright?
Rossi: It's wrong to mislead law enforcement. In fact, it's a felony
Canmore: I think it's time for you two to leave
Hotch shook his head, but the pair of senior agents left.
END SCENE
