ACT 4 - Scene Set 5
INT. BAU CONFERENCE ROOM - DAY (Scene 5.1)
START SCENE
Prentiss and Rossi re enter the room
Prentiss, holding the legal pad: Garcia, he gave us a phone number- can you track it?
Garcia: Hit me with it.
Prentiss: 411-409-2259 (she reads each number slowly)
Garcia types in the number as Prentiss reads it
Garcia: Honey, I'm coming up bupkis - It's not a registered phone number
Reid: No, no - it's a cipher.
Garcia: Oh, oh - That's easy. Why didn't I see that? Garcia, come on use your brain
Prentiss: Garcia-
Garcia: Right, right. Ok if we use a basic letter to number code- it's DANIVEI
Reid: Agreed.
Prentiss: A name maybe? Garcia, see if any Dan Ivei's are in the area
Garcia: I don't see a Dan Ivei - oh I do have a Derrick Daniel Ivei- oh, look at this rap sheet- this could definitely be our hitman. Sending the address to your phones, now
Rossi, Morgan, Reid, JJ, and Prentiss rush out of the conference room. Morgan ran over to Hotch's office where the Director, Strauss, and Hotch were discussing the next steps pursuing the election fraud charges.
Morgan, opening the door: Hotch- we got him.
Hotch stood up
Hotch: Excuse me.
Hotch walked out of the room, and followed Morgan to the elevator where the rest of the team (minus Garcia) was waiting for the pair. The team headed down in the elevator. The scene ends on the elevator doors closing
END SCENE
INT./EXT. SUVS - DAY (Scene 5.2)
START SCENE
The team is in their usual SUV configuration - Prentiss and Morgan in one and Hotch, Reid, Rossi, and JJ in another.
END SCENE
INT./EXT. MORGAN AND PRENTISS' SUV - DAY (Scene 5.3)
START SCENE
Morgan: So, Prentiss, last time we were in a car together, you nearly got me arrested
Prentiss, laughing: What?
Morgan: Anyways, what's your read on this case
Prentiss: I've said it before- Politics makes people distrustful and hateful and tears families apart. For Canmore, it turned him into a paranoid killer. For the Earles, it destroyed a marriage. For me-
Emily paused
Morgan: What?
Prentiss: For me, it gave me an absent mother.
Morgan's cheerful deposition faltered.
Morgan: Em-
Prentiss: Nevermind- forget I said anything
She smiled sadly. The scene ends on her bittersweet smile
END SCENE
INT./EXT. HOTCH'S SUV - DAY (Scene 5.4)
START SCENE
Hotch: So SWAT's gonna meet us there. This guy is a trained killer- who knows what type of fight he'll put up
The camera shows each member of the team looking anxious. This case was giving them all a bad feeling.
END SCENE
EXT. IVEI'S APARTMENT - DAY (SCENE 5.5)
START SCENE
Both SUVs pull up to the apartment building that Ivei resided in. The team members pile out of the cars and head in, vests on and guns out, SWAT behind them. When they reach the apartment, Morgan kicks down the door and they head in.
They scope out the small, dingy apartment.
Hotch: CLEAR!
The team relaxes, but mistakenly. Just as the team is holstering their weapons, Ivei appears in the hall and holds out his gun
Morgan: GUN!
The team tries to react, but they are too late. Emily watches as a bullet rips through the air. It all happens so fast. A cluster of blonde hair falls to the floor. Ivei escapes through the window. Blood stains blonde hair red. Ivei is gone.
JJ is shot. JJ is shot.
