The sun was nice and bright. Beth woke up and looked around the bedroom. Her eyes watered and she laid back down and wrapped the soft velvet blanket around herself. She felt Jimmy stir next to her, and she knew he was awake. They both couldn't ignore their actions any longer.

"Beth," Jimmy called softly beside her, Beth didn't open her guys. Her hands stilled for a moment, but she didn't move, almost as if she was frozen to the core.

"I'm tired Jimmy"

He paused slightly, carefully deciding his words. "Beth, I'm sorry if I upset you, please tell me if I did anything wrong."

Beth wiped the tears from her eyes and sat against the headframe of his bed, she looked to her right and looked at Jimmy. She smiled but she knew it didn't meet her eyes. She grabbed his hand and leaned down to kiss him for a quick second before she spoke again.

"I love you, but I'm scared. I'm scared Jimmy, we made love," she paused "I know we love each other but we- we aren't married, we sinned. Daddy's going to be disappointed in me." Beth grabbed at the chain that decorated her neck but quickly moved her it, she felt that grabbing her cross would be mocking.

Jimmy moved to sit upright and looked at Beth, sweet and faithful Beth, he knew she was a good Christain girl, he knew that and respected that. He respected her father too, the man was a man of faith and his wife, Beths momma, also ran the house in the same fashion. And for the time in his 16 years of life, Jimmy felt truly and genuinely disgusted with himself, he ruined her. Beth, sensing his contempt quickly spoke to overcome the silence.

"But I love you," Beth said, her throat felt dry, but she swallowed regardless. "But-" she paused to look at him again. "But I know that I love you and that whatever sins Ive committed can be forgiven."

They head each other's hand. Beth gently caressing his knuckles. She knew Jimmy wasn't a faithless boy, but he wasn't as church loving as she was, he never was, but it didn't matter, he respected her. He didn't mind the way her shorts stopped just above her knees or that her father demanded her back home before 7. Jimmy was a good boyfriend; she didn't like the way she felt shameful for the things they did. They made love, that was what people in love did.

"I'll do anything for you Beth, I'll go to those Sunday you always insist I go to," he dragged both her hands to his mouth, and kissed them both. Beth watched him a small smile on her pink lips.

"You don't have to do anything for me Jimmy." She laid her head in his palms.

"But I want to. Anything you want Bethy, I sorry I made you feel bad."

Beth blushed slightly, her cheeks noticeably turning red "You didn't make me feel bad, I guess I just need to make sense of things."

Jimmy nodded and tried to smile back. He slowly lowered himself on the bed and fluffed the pillow in where his head was resting prior.

"Well then, let's get back to sleep, we got a few hours before your Pa comes looking for you." Beth followed suit and laid her head on the same pillow, her head facing Jimmy. She glanced at his brown hair sprayed all over the pillow and then finally met his eyes. She looked and looked and after a while her eyes feel clouded and she felt them close on their own accord. She felt a soft kiss on her brow and that day, she dreamt of bells.
