Klance- Book Of Life Oneshot
"Ah, Keith Kogane. Son of General Kogane. Most handsome man in all of San Altea." James, the Hero of San Altea, bowed in front of him, taking Keith's hand in his own. "Welcome home from South Korea." And James kissed Keith's hand.
"Great to see you too James." Keith said as he took a seat at the dinner table next to his mother, General Krolia Kogane, and next to his childhood friend, James. He must have had at least 50 metals on his chest. Keith had always thought of James just as his best friend, nothing more. But he had always had a small crush on his other best friend, Lance McClain, son of the greatest bullfighters in the history of San Altea. And he was said to be the next greatest after his father.
But, his first bullfight had proved that he was not.
He was still the same little boy from when they were kids, kind, courageous, and played from his heart. And Keith still loved him for that.
"To James!" The men around him and his mother all yelled, holding up their wine glasses for toast to James.
"A great hero!" His mother added.
James chuckled and Keith formed a small smile on his lips.
"Too bad you're just in town for a few days James." His mother said as she set down her glass, a teasing smile on her lips. Uh oh.
Keith knew where this was going.
"If only there were something to make you stay," she started. "like a special guy.." and then she nudged Keith with her elbow. "Eh, Keith?"
Keith turned to his mother and frowned. "Mom." He said warningly.
Krolia put her hands up in defense. "What? What'd I say?"
Keith let out a frustrated groan and turned to James, who was watching with a awkward smile. "Oh, my mother." He said pushing hair out of face, chuckling along with James. "Anyway, it's very.. wonderful to see you again, James." His gaze turned to his face. "Look at that mustache." He chuckled. His gaze then trailed down to all the metals on his chest. "And all those metals."
James nodded smiling, like he obviously liked to talk about all his metals.
Keith found himself staring at purple ribboned one with a black skull at the top. "What's this one for?" He asked as he pointed to it. James jumped and let out a surprised squeal.
"N-nothing!" He stood up and Keith raised an eyebrow. "Nothing, nothing!" He then glanced around at the now silent crowd at the dinner party they were having at the Kogane mansion. "Uh.." he mumbled. "What?" He stammered and chuckled nervously. "I didn't.." James glanced to the confused scowl on Keith's lips. "Why don't," he started, trying to collect himself and sat back down. "Why don't you tell me a little more about Korea?" He said confidently.
That got a smile on Keith's lips. "Oh, I loved it." He started. "Such beautiful music and art and books." He sighed. "It was wonderful."
James nodded. "Ah, books, art, wonderfulness." He glanced around. "You sound like you've learned so.. much, Keith." He said, a bit awkwardly, but more cocky and teasing, aswell as a bit fond. "I'm sure, you are going to make a man very, very, very happy someday." He started with a smile. "And I hope that man's mustache, or his metals, makes you very, very, very happy."
"Oh! Is that so?" Keith said fond and teasingly.
James chuckled. "Well, yes! Behind every man, with an amazing mustache, is a beautiful woman or man."
Keith gasped, tried to sound surprised and fond, when really, he was hurt. Is that how James sees every man or women he falls in love with? That rudely? "Oh, uh, yes." He said. "And I'll cook, and clean for him. And be at his beck and call." Keith said tapping James' arm.
James laughed like he was on cloud nine. "That sounds.. that sounds so good." He smiled, still on cloud nine. "And you're just.. you're just so pretty." He sighed lightly, his hazel eyes piercing into Keith's violet ones.
But Keith felt his eyes crease with anger. "Are you kidding me?" He asked, sitting back in his chair, crossing his arms over his chest. "Is that how you see men? And women?" He heard his mother spit out her drink and mutter an Oh boy.. But Keith didn't believe it. His best friend thought of him and other women and men lower.
James chuckled nervously. "Uh.."
"We're just here to make men happy?" He asked annoyed, looking over to James' fan crew. They all nodded and shrugged as they looked at one another.
"Soo, I don't know.." James said and smiled awkwardly.
Keith sighed, getting up. "I believe I've lost my appetite. No, no, please stay seated." He said. Keith sighed again, pinching the bridge of his nose. "Now if you will excuse me," he clapped his clapped his hands together "I must go check on Kosmo." He slammed his fist down on the table, scaring everyone at the table, and silencing the whole party again. "That's my trained wolf. I need to spend time with someone more civilized." Keith snapped. He walked off and up the stairs saying a good night.
"Oooh," one of James' fans cooed. "You picked yourself a feisty one-" James punched him in the face and he flew in the other direction as James watched Keith disappear. "Good one James! Very witty!" His fan yelled and then sighed in pain.
"I can't believe the general invited the whole town!" Shiro sighed as they walked along the roads of San Altea. "Except for you, Lance." Shiro nudged his arm weakly.
Hunk was playing his trumpet with a sad tune while Pidge was carrying her massive guitar that was bigger then her. "Sorry, twerp." She said.
Hunk stopped playing for a moment "She even invited us! And she hates us.." and he started playing again.
Lance sighed, knowing he won't be able to really 'woo' Keith at his homecoming party at townhall. "It's hopeless. I've lost him to James." And he sadly crossed his arms over his chest.
Shiro put his hand on his shoulder. "Okay, okay, listen. No sad vibes. We've just gotta play the right song and trust me, everything will turn around in the space of four bars." He smiled and Lance felt a bit a hope.
Hunk put his finger up. "But we've already been to four bars."
"Twice!" Pidge added as she ran into a pole in the street, earning a chuckle from everyone else.
Shiro snapped his fingers. "Hold on! I know exactly what to play." He turned around and pulled Hunk and Pidge into a huddle group like what they do for football. He could hear them mumbling to one another, trying to help Lance get with the guy of his dreams. Lance huffed a laugh of what he heard.
As Lance stood to the side, he watched Hunk sit on a struggling Pidge from the weight on her back as Shiro held up a small, portable piano as Hunk played, trying to get Keith's attention.
You
You got what I need
But you say he's just a friendHunk huffed after he sang as Shiro and Pidge beatboxed to Hunk's playing. Lance just facepalmed and shook his head.
But you say he's just a friend
Oh, baby, you-
Hunk got cut off by medium potted flower pot falling in his mouth. He spit it out, wiping his mouth, muttering something under his breath.
Lance sighed as he shook his head and said "Wow, that totally captivated him."
They all sighed. "I don't get it. That one always works." Shiro huffs.
"Even on my wife." Hunk said as he held his trumpet close to chest.
"Wait, you're married?!" Pidge asked confusedly.
Hunk shrugged.
Shiro raised his hand. "I got it!"
Shiro's song didn't work. It involved him breaking out of his shell and dancing along with his violin to Hunk and Pidge's instruments. Lance was unamused as he watched them all, but laughed when a plant dropped on Shiro's head. He heard Kosmo's angry grunts, unlike from when he and Keith first rescued him from the wolf butcher house and he was so kind and patient, and Keith's giggling from inside his room. At least they were making him laugh.
Pidge's song lasted less because she was caught off by a large cactus falling on her and preventing her from even starting.
"That guy is way out of your league, buddy." Hunk said as he patted Lance's shoulder after the cactus fell on Pidge.
"Hey, let's go eat. I'm hungry." Pidge announced.
Shiro and Hunk nodded as they quickly rolled Pidge over to the nearest restaurant that was still open.
Lance giggled at his friends' enthusiasm and watched as Keith's bedroom light shut off.
He took his old, worn, wooden guitar off his back, reading the words,
Always play from the heart
Keithwith a little heart next to Keith's name. He's got to at least like him as a friend if it has a heart, right?
Right.
Lance shuffled over to be under Keith's balcony.
