Chapter Seventeen: We've got this!
~Rewind to when the Kids complete the prophesy, with the Adults~
Della paused, her brow creasing in confusion as the minions that they had been fighting off a second ago merely vanished into thin air. "Uh... what just happened?"
Van shook his head, whirling around to face Scrooge. "We best find the children and make sure that they are okay."
"There you are! The children snuck out and I have no idea on where to find them!" Mrs. Bleakley rushed over to them, exasperation flooding her voice.
"Ah phooey." Donald grumbled under his breath, before rushing off to see if he couldn't find the children.
It was Della that found the children... either that or the children found her. All she knew was that one minute she was walking around looking for them... the next she was staring up at the sky due to the fact that four of them were pinning her down, while Lena stood a little ways off.
"Oh look. We found one of the adults." Lena sounded extremely bored as she stared blankly at the quadruplets that had Della pinned.
Della gave a nervous chuckle as she reached a hand up and patted Webby on top of her head. "Okay...boys? Webby? Can you let me up please?"
"Uh?" The foursome blinked, before realizing that they had her pinned down. Springing up, they scrambled backwards. "Oops! Sorry about that Mom!" "Won't happen again Mom, junior woodchuck's honor!" "I guess I got way too excited, uh Mom?" "When were you going to tell me that your my mom... also can I call you mom?!" Webby bounced forward once more, this time wrapping her arms around her apparent mother tightly in a hug.
Scrooge came around the corner at that moment, confusion immediately flashing in his eyes upon seeing that Webby was hugging Della. "Am I missing something here?"
Louie lifted a finger up to point at Webby, opening his mouth to respond only for Della to cut him off as she finally registered what it was that Webby had asked. "How did you figure that out!?"
Louie sighed, before shoving his hand into his jacket sleeve. "Mom... I happen to specialize in scrying. I scried the answer to the fourth egg mystery. So... can she?"
"Of course." Della dropped down to one knee, hugging her quickly.
Huey tilted his head as he stared at Louie. "Actually the fact the four of us even performed the spell, according to the prophesy that I was telling you about, would mean that Webby was our sister the whole time."
"Oh sure... now you tell us this!"
"I'm lost..." (Scrooge) "Wait! You did the spell?! But you were nowhere near Donald!" (Bewildered Della)
Lena jabbed a finger towards the large statue of Scrooge that they had been making a stand at earlier. "Apparently it was talking about Scrooge McDuck's giant statue and not Donald."
"I see... that actually makes a lot more sense now that I'm thinking it over." Van scratched the top of his head as he stared first at the statue, then down at his daughter who was still refusing to let Della go.
"Anyone up to supper now that we have everyone in one place?" Mrs. Bleakley carefully thought things over, and realized that Webby being Della's child made far too much sense.
"Yes! I'm starved!" Everyone yelled in unison before making a beeline towards the mansion's front doors.
Mrs. Bleakley blinked slowly, before shaking her head and following them back inside so that she could start cooking up the food that they were licking their lips at the thought of.
~August 18th, same year as the rest of the story! Medium sized home close to McDuck Manor...~
"Kids! Come on! We need to get you signed up for school!" Della bounced an egg in her arms, before carefully settling it in a stroller, making sure as she did so that there was a lot of warm fluffy blankets nestled around it.
A loud bang from somewhere above her told her that at least one of the kids had heard her, and was on the way back down. Straightening up, she lifted her cell phone back to her ear, grinning as she spoke into it. "That sounds great Uncle Scrooge! Just so you pay attention to times though, school starts back up in a couple of weeks. And we still need to unpack everything... and set up the nursery for the new little one... Yes I know Uncle Scrooge. I think Van and I would rather do it ourselves. Thanks for offering though." Lowering her phone once more she once again to face the stairs that led upstairs where most of the bedrooms were kept. "Kids! Come on! We can't be late for this!"
Another thud reached her eyes... before a puff of smoke covered the bottom step. When it cleared, Webby and her brothers smiled at her in mock innocence, before rushing to the door... Dewey knocking over a stack of moving boxes which promptly spilt a rather large collection of magic books onto the floor. "Dewey! Slow down!" Della smiled warmly, even as she moved to block any of them from knocking the stroller over. One kid that was dropped as an egg was enough for her liking... Glancing down, she gently shook her head at the egg. "You better not be quite so adventurous Ainsley Treasure as your siblings."
"Mom! Let's go! Your the one that was saying we were going to be late!" Louie huffed loudly as he hovered just outside the open door.
"Get in the limo. I'll be there in a second." Della lifted the phone once more, this time finishing the conversation. "See you in a couple of hours Uncle Scrooge. Bye!" Hanging up, she shoved the phone into her purse, before ushering everyone outside to the waiting driverless limo. Best belated wedding present anyone could have given her in her personal opinion. "Come on, I'm sure that by now Mitch has you all signed up for classes and just needing my signature is all... since he was so determined to have you all in his new school that he is opening up just down by McDuck Industries."
A/N: Done! Finally! This is the final chapter for this story! Phew! Was beginning to think it was never going to happen... the chapter title is a reference to the prologue/first chapter's title. Um...can't really think of anything else to say...
