As the population of New Windsor exploded with new arrivals from across the globe the few mines on the planet exploded as more low skilled unemployed workers began to apply for jobs on the mines. As the mines grew more seams were uncovered and the mineral riches of New Windsor were slowly discovered and exploited. Yet by far the most important discovery was when a group of Welsh miners came across a seam of minerals that they had never seen before and bore no relation to anything that they knew on Earth. The mineral samples were taken to the Castle which was currently in the midst of a debate on what to name it to see if the scientist there knew anything.
The mineral completely baffled all of the scientists there and it was decided to scan the minerals with the device discovered by Harold St George Gray to see what the Ancients knew of the mineral. The scan was over quickly, and the element was revealed to be Naquadah. The scientist's reaction was a sheer unadulterated shock and then to send off a message to Nobel as they were the experts on this particular subject. When they arrived, they seized the Naquadah and went to work, their goal was to make the green liquid that powered the Staff Weapons and they started by crushing the ore and then throwing it the largest smelter they had. After three days in the smelter the last of the Naquadah melted and the scientist's realised that they had struck gold.

The second and third settlements on New Windsor were founded within days of each other for largely different reasons. The first was founded by Indian settlers who had begun to flood into Balfour and through that they found the people of the Balfour were able to deal with a small number of Indians but not the massive numbers that were moving to New Windsor. The racism and discrimination became more and more obvious and aggressive and so a large group of lower caste Indians managed to secure resources and permission and set off towards a large lake that had been found several kilometres away. They founded the city of New Mumbai that today is the second largest city on New Windsor and produces the largest number of republicans in the Interstellar colonies.
The third city founded on New Windsor was founded by a group of adventurous young men who had nothing better to do according to the minutes of their first meeting. They manage to gain permission from the government to go found a second settlement. They trekked down the coast until they reached the head of a large river which interestingly fed the lake that New Mumbai sat on. They had not packed anything that allowed them to cross the river and so decided to settle at the site they had found. The first developments of the new settlement was the decision was the name of the settlement and alongside that the river. The Settlement was named New Salisbury and the river New Zambezi and as God Save the King was sung around the centre of the new colony, they had no realisation the impact that this would later have on old Salisbury.

The parliament of 1907 was a fragile one with many new seats being added including the first ever Commonwealth of the future United Empire in the form of New Zealand. The conservative government had barely managed to hold onto power, and many knew that if the House of Lords turned against them, they would crumble. So, when the member for Wellington Francis Fisher introduced two major bills Arthur Balfour would record in his dairy 'The government cannot survive this unless we can ride this storm greater than Nelson at Trafalgar'. The bills were to grant MPs wages as the many of the MPs that represented the newly integrated colonial territories were unable to continue with jobs that they held before their election.
The vote was fraught with tension as the Liberals supported the motion and they had enough votes as many of the colonial MPs had become independents and supported the motion. The Conservative party was split many were against the idea as they were of the landed gentry and disliked the idea of strengthening the working-class MPs. Despite the attempts to hold off the vote it was held and represented the death knell of Balfour's government. The vote passed the with a majority of thirty seats and passed onto the House of Lords where it managed to pass, and all MP were granted a basic wage of £1000 a year.
The second bill introduced by Francis Fisher was a motion to grant Female suffrage across the United Kingdom this was met by a wall of refusal despite the fact that New Zealand had been allowing women to vote since 1893 and Francis Fisher had been voted in by Women the rest of the United Kingdom refused to allow the idea to even be debated. Despite the failure of Francis's motion, the Liberal party began to hold debates within itself on whether or not to support this motion at a future date an idea that would have serious repercussions down the line. Yet as New Zealand boiled in anger at the refusal of the proposal the suffragettes declared their unwavering support for Francis Fisher and his motion.

The discovery of Naquadah on New Windsor and the subsequent discovery of the ability of the British that the Green liquid that powered the Staff Weapons is merely molten Naquadah threw the British plasma weaponry program ahead massively. Alongside Winston Churchill's discovery of thirty staff weapons on Nova Hibernia the researchers at Nobel now had the ability to create more Plasma Rifles and larger weapons entirely. Over nine months they managed to make enough rifles to equip the Grenadier Division solely in Plasma rifles. In late 1909 the Grenadier Division marched through London showing the rivals of the Empire that they had a technological advantage that they would never match independently.
As work moved on the equipping of the Grenadier Division with Plasma Rifles the Admiralty and the Royal Artillery Corps jointly sent representatives to the researchers in Nobel with a request. The two military forces jointly asked the scientists that worked on Plasma weaponry how large they could build a plasma weapon with the discovery of the Staff Cannons that the Death Glider Winston Churchill had found on his travels across the seas of New Windsor, they knew that it was possible to create large plasma weapons. After a brief debate, the researchers agreed to the request and began work on the weapons that would send fear into the heart of the Ottoman Navy only a few years later.

By far the most important discovery of Winston Churchill in the wild year he spent exploring New Windsor was the Death Glider he found on the island of Cymru Newydd. Many believe that the island was planned to be an airfield as part of Ra's capital that New Windsor was supposed to become under the Goa'uld tyrant. Winston Churchill would find the machine by scraping away dirt that had blown over the advanced plane and finding the cockpit still with the shredded corpse of an Unas in it from the Three great Races purging the Goa'uld from New Windsor. Winston managed to open the cockpit and dragged the corpse out where his manservant would give the body a naval burial while his master fussed over ancient technology.
The flight controls on a Death Glider are a very simple for such an advanced machine and so Winston Churchill managed to figure them out relatively quickly. Following the disposal of the Unas corpse he ordered his manservant and skipper to help him dig out the machine. After three hours of labour the Death Glider was free of dirt and stood gleaming in the sun of New Windsor as it did once before, and Winston Churchill climbed in with his manservant in the back and managed to launch the ancient machine. The lowest speed of a Death Glider is well over a hundred kilometres an hour and to Winston Churchill this was the fastest thing he had been in in his entire life as he speed across the oceans of New Windsor occasionally coming across islands and the edges of two continents and then he started to head over the largest continent on the planet Nouveau Normandy as he speed across the sky he noticed trees and other vegetation and he realised he was near Balfour he would land in the town square and announce his return in his bombastic way.
