A/N: So I got this out a helluva lot faster than I expected, I hope you enjoy, leave any comments, questions, or critiques in the reviews section.
Chapter 1: A Second Chance
Dying sucks…
...I think. See the problem is I don't remember dying, all I remember are the events leading up to my possible death.
I woke up, got dressed, went downstairs, ate a bowl of cereal for breakfast, and left the house for school. My College isn't (wasn't?) that far from my house, just a short twenty-minute walk. The most dangerous part about my route was I had to cross a somewhat busy road in front of my college, but even then it has a stoplight at the intersection! No, I didn't get hit by a car, all I remember is one minute I'm walking across the street, then I think I heard a strange tearing sound. Although, it may have been more of a ripping sound, I don't know! all I know is that I heard a strange sound and then next thing I know? I got sucked into a strange black portal looking thing, and I felt an agonizing pain all across my body, it felt like I was on fire. I passed out and then I woke up here!
Where ever 'here' is. If this is the afterlife, then I want my money back. I mean come on! I know there's no way anybody back on Earth could possibly know, but really? This is it? I look around and all I see is darkness and there's nothing. No sounds, No light, no nothing. It's fucking limbo is what it is, and I'm probably going to go insane if all I've got to keep myself company is my thoughts!
After what seems like an entity passed, and had I not been lost in my thoughts, I would have noticed the appearance of another person. A very pale, very tall, very attractive lady in a long tattered black robe, carrying a very large scythe. I would've probably noticed her bemused expression as I continued my inane ramblings. I would have also probably seen her as she walked up behind me and as she crossed her arms over her ample chest. I would have noticed as she grew tired of my inattention to her and I probably wouldn't have jumped so high when she slammed the butt of her scythe onto the non-existent floor, somehow creating a loud thud that echoed out into the abyss around us.
I however, did not.
Shouting out surprise I spun around.
"AH, WHAT THE FUC- wait, who the fuck are you?"
Her bemused expression returns.
"Oh? Don't you recognize me? I am the shadow that follows all living things throughout their lives, and I'm always 'right around the corner', as some of you humans are so fond of saying."
Taking a moment to process her statement, I then respond with.
"So I really am dead? Weird. And so you're Death? Well I guess I now know what they meant when they said that there's beauty in death."
Death then does something very unexpected.
She giggles.
Death, The actual Grim Reaper, giggles.
She composes herself quickly, although I can still see a small smile on her face, that's good. I hope.
"You are a strange mortal. Most of your kind usually flee in terror, or beg for their life when they meet me."
Shrugging my shoulders, I respond.
"Well I think I've been stuck in this void for a really long time, you haven't done anything scary, and I'm already dead right, so if I'm stuck here, I'll take talking with the attractive Grim Reaper, over slowly losing my mind."
As I finish speaking, her smile fades, and she frowns before speaking.
"Thank you for your kind words, but you are only right on the first two accounts. You are currently within the space between dimensions, what we Primordial Beings call the Abyss, but you are not dead."
"Hold on there, I must not have heard you right, because I thought you just said I'm not dead? And the space between dimensions?!"
Nodding her head, Death continued.
"Yes, the Multiverse exists, and yes. You are not dead. You are currently a soul lost within the Abyss. A terrible fate that befalls an unlucky mortal only every few Mega-annum. "
She pauses for a moment, and before I can speak, she stares, not at me, but through me and I am paralyzed. I feel all that I am is bare before Death. All my sins, my virtues, my hopes, my dreams, my regrets, and my guilt. I feel a deep terror bubble up from within.
But after a moment, or was it an eternity? Death closes her eyes and a solemn look descends upon her face. And as I regain control over my body, a chill runs down my spine. I feel as a mouse before a starving lion, or the lamb upon the altar.
Taking a deep breath and swallowing the lump in my throat, I speak.
"W-What do you mean, a l-lost soul? A-and a terrible f-fate? What's g-going on?"
Death looks up at my statement, surprised.
"Impressive. You are the first mortal I have ever met to remain coherent after I have judged their Soul. Perhaps the Abyss has affected you more than I thought."
Her shoulders slump as she continues speaking.
"To put it simply, your soul is fading. Mortal souls were never meant to exist outside of the boundaries of the Dimensional Planes, and soon you will be erased from history, you will be forgotten, and you will cease to exist. It is a sad occasion, even if you did bring this upon yourself."
I stare at the Reaper in confusion.
"What? How is this my fault?"
Death, looking at me condescendingly, explains.
"It is an unfortunate consequence of your use of Dimensional Magicks, Mortal. It is also the reason why your kind are banned from the use of that particular branch of Magick. It was your foolishness that got you into this situation."
Her patronizing tone of voice pisses me off, and that's not to mention, I don't know know what the actual fuck she's talking about.
"What the fuck do you mean my use of Magic!? I was an ordinary college student! I thought magic was a fairytale, or just clever tricks! Matter of fact, I was just FUCKING WALKING ACROSS THE STREET, when I heard a weird fucking tearing sound and then I GET SUCKED INTO A BLACK VORTEX THING AND PASSOUT AND THEN I WAKE UP HERE. So MAYBE before you accuse someone of something, ACTUALLY GET FUCKING PROOF THAT THEY DID IT."
By this point I'm yelling at the top of my lungs at the embodiment of death. Is it a good idea? Fuck no. Do I care? Fuck no. I'm almost literally frothing at the mouth, and I'm so pissed off that I don't notice Death's horrified expression.
Rounding on her, I march up to her and grab her by the shoulders, shaking her as I yelled.
"SO FUCKING TELL ME, HOW THE FUCK DID I END UP HERE? AND HOW THE FUCK CAN I STOP MYSELF FROM CEASING TO EXIST?"
Breathing heavily, I drop my head, sigh, and slump to the ground, as my rage dwindles and is replaced by despair. Death stares at me wide-eyed, shocked into silence by my actions.
Eventually Death kneels down beside me and places her hand on my shoulder, and with a sorrowful expression she speaks in a quiet voice.
"I'm-I'm sorry."
At the sound of her voice, I look up at her confusion once again visible on my face.
"It's my fault that you are here. I was dealing with The Beast of The Abyss, a monstrous entity that calls the space between dimensions home, however The Beast occasionally attempts to consume parts of the multiverse. When this happens, it falls to one of the Primordial Beings to fight it and prevent the loss of parts of the multiverse. I was tasked with fighting it off in its most recent attempt, but during the fight I had to use my scythe. My Scythe is able to cut through everything, including the fabric of reality…"
"You? You're responsible for this? The-Then you can fix it, right? Right? You can just take me back!"
Death's sorrowful expression turns shameful as she says.
"I cannot, you would not be able to survive the process of crossing the boundaries of the dimensional barrier, like I said earlier Mortal souls were never meant to exist outside of the Multiverse, they simply aren't strong enough. Besides even if you were strong enough, your dimension has been put on lockdown for the next few millennia, no souls in or out, so I would have to send you to another dimension."
"So I'm just shit out of luck then? Nothing can be done to stop me from being erased from existence?"
She nods. I stand up, she stands up with me.
"Well fuck it!"
Unsure of my meaning, Death is caught off guard when I pull her close and kiss her. Out of sheer shock at my action, she leans into the kiss instinctively, and I quickly wrap one arm around her waist, and bring the other up to her face. Not a moment later, I'm on my ass and Death is a blushing stuttering mess.
"I-Why-How-What-"
She stops talking, takes a deep breath, and attempts to compose herself, fighting down her blush. During this time I stand up, smirking. She turns towards me, still with a dusting of pink on her face, and speaks.
"What… was that? Why did you kiss me? More importantly, how did you kiss me!?"
While I was expecting the first two questions, I'm slightly confused by her third question.
"Well firstly, I've going to cease to exist soon, so I don't give a fuck anymore. Secondly, I'm going to do whatever I want, and I wanted to kiss the beautiful lady in front of me. So I did, I enjoyed it and I'm pretty sure you did too. Thirdly, well I'm not sure what you mean by that, but I put my lips to yours, and I'm pretty sure that's how kissing works?"
"No no no, I mean that you physically should not have been able to touch my skin. I am Death, you should've felt an excruciating pain as your lips and hand is decayed by my latent necrotic energy, and do you not feel my Aura of Death? It should make you want to be as far away from me as possible! It should fill you with fear!"
Raising an eyebrow, I once again step in Death's personal space.
"Does it look like I feel fear right now? A slight amount of arousal? Yes. Fear? No."
Bring my hand up, I boop her on the nose. She recoils slightly, out of surprise more than anything else.
"And I still have my hand. My totally undecayed hand. So, shall we continue?"
As I speak I wrap my arm around her waist, and pull her close, whispering my question into her ear. Death tenses, seemingly unused to such close and personal contact, yet as I look into her beautiful steel-colored eyes I see conflict, Curious. Her blush returns in full, coloring her porcelain skin crimson, and still I hear, nor feel any resistance to my actions. Smirking as I gently stroke her cheek with my other hand, I close the distance between us. I feel the softness of her lips, the chill of her body, while strange is surprisingly nice. I feel her hands as they begin to run over my torso, and as I begin to return the favor, she suddenly tenses up and pushes away, turning from me.
"I… We, really shouldn't." She says quietly.
Well shit, there goes that chance. Whatever, I'll settle with having kissed the Grim Reaper in my final moments. Well, I'll be damned if I'm forced to spend however much time I've got left alone.
"Hey Death, what exactly do you do?"
Plus I think I can get actual answers for some of life's biggest mysteries.
[THE IRON CONQUEROR]
"So there I am, covered in tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, and pepperoni slices, and she says, in a terrible Italian accent I might add, 'Hey-a everybody look! It's-a the Pizza man! And that's how I ended up with the nickname Pizza Man in middle school."
I look over at Death as I finish recounting the story, and while she's rolling her eyes, I see the slight smile and the mirth in her eyes. According to her, it had been about six weeks since we'd kissed, but it's hard to tell how accurate that is. Time is weird in the Abyss. After we'd first kissed, I had asked Death if she'd come back when she wasn't busy and keep me company until the end. She agreed saying that it was the least she could do, and what had started as me asking about Death's duties and about the multiverse in general, had quickly devolved into us swapping stories about our life experiences and hanging out. Turns out Death isn't just beautiful, she's really enjoyable to be around too, and lonely, ridiculously lonely. On another note, The Grim Reaper really enjoys cuddling, found out about that around the end of week three.
Oh, and we're dating. Kind of. So we do fool around a bit, cuddling, kissing, but we haven't gone all the way, and we've never stated that we're dating out loud.
"Alright, now spill, what's the most embarrassing way someone's ever died?"
Death takes a moment to ponder the question, and as she opens her mouth to answer, I get a really strange tingly sensation in my legs, it feels like my legs are asleep and are slowly being submerged in ice water. Looking down, I see that where I used to have feet, there is now nothing. Cutting Death off, I speak up.
"Ah so it's happening now then. I'm being erased."
I point to my slowly disappearing legs, and Death's gaze follows, and I watch as a look of pure despair descends upon her face… and a spark of something else. Grabbing her shoulder, I get her attention.
"Hey now, chin up. I may be about to be erased from existence, but… but I… Yeah, I don't really have a way to put a positive spin on this."
Death quickly latches on to me, wrapping her arms around me and nuzzling her face into the crook of my neck. Soon after I feel a cold dampness begin to trail down my shoulder, wrapping my arms around her, I pull her into my lap, and just sit there holding her until I'm nothing but a torso with arms.
Picking her head up, I stare into her eyes, those beautiful steel-colored eyes, and I wipe away her tears, but as I go to say a certain three word phrase, Death beats me to the punch.
"I Love You. ...I know it sounds strange, me, Death, loving a mortal, but I do these last six weeks have been the best of my immortal life. I love you my dear mortal, and I promise that you shall not perish, not here, and not now. I know not how this will affect the multiverse, nor do I know how this will affect you. I will see you again, whether it be in this cycle, or the next we will meet again. I will wait for you, for eternity if I must."
By the time she finishes speaking, my lungs have already been mostly erased, my arms are nothing but nubs, so I can do nothing, nothing but stare as she picks up something from outside of my vision and begins chanting in a language unknown to me. The cold-numb feeling is up to my nose now, and my vision begins to blur.
NO! I can't, I won't leave her! I'll fight this damn it! I feel… something briefly and my vision clears briefly, and I watch Death's eyes widen in horror. What? Somethings not right, I feel like I'm falling, is Death getting farther away? Why is she getting farther away? Everything feels muted and it's getting dark, so dark. What's that… that…. sound….
And as I drift off into unconsciousness, I'm only faintly aware of the rumbling laughter ringing out around me.
[THE IRON CONQUEROR]
Gasping as I shoot up into a sitting position whilst I'm swiftly reintroduced to the land of the living, I grab my chest and just sit there for a moment feeling my heartbeat.
After sufficiently calming myself down, I begin to look at my surroundings.
I'm still in the fucking Abyss. Wonderful, just fucking wonderful.
Wrong!
"What?! Who's there?"
Quickly standing up and looking for the source of the voice, I see nothing.
Oh! I'm sorry Master! I haven't introduced myself. I'm the Operating System for your new Gamer Power! Also I'm in your head, you don't need to speak out loud for me to hear you.
What. The. Fuck.
Aren't I supposed to be not in existence right now? Ya, know considering I got stuck in the Abyss, cause of that fucker, Death.
Nope! In the last moments before your erasure, I was given to you! But Master, are you feeling alright?
I feel fine Game, but who gave you to me?
Oh, it was Lady Death Master!
Death? Why the fuck would that cunt give you to me? She's the reason I'm in this fucked up situation to begin with.
Master… Are you sure you're feeling fine? Know what, I'm running a scan. Please hold on for a moment.
What the fuck are you on about game? I've told you I'm fine. Also do you have a name? I'm going to get tired of calling you 'game' all the time.
No Master, I don't have a name, but you can give me one if you'd like!
Alrighty then… How about Lena?
OH NO! Master!
Woah, woah, calm down there if you don't like Lena, I can think of som-
Nononono, Master I love the name! But something is wrong, your soul is fractured!
Uh, fractured? That doesn't sound good.
It's not Master, something must have fractured it while you were recovering from near-erasure from existence.
But, weren't you given to be before then? Wouldn't you know?
I'm sorry Master, but I was in the process of bonding to you and during that time I wasn't awake yet. I'm sorry Master…
It's not your fault, but I'm betting that this is also somehow Death's fault. How does my soul being fractured affect me?
Master… you shouldn't say those things about Lady Death, and the fractured parts of your soul are the ones that contain your memories.
Lena. I was almost erased from existence because of Death! I have every right to be pissed off with that condescending bitch! She even said it was my fault. News Flash, it wasn't. So, please tell me, why the hell I shouldn't insult the cunt!
I can't tell you Master. I'm not allowed to tell low level players any information about the Primordial Beings. The only reason I can even speak of them now, is because you already know of their existence. You just really shouldn't say those things about her.
So what level do I have to be for you to be able to talk about them then?
At least Level 100, Master, and if not for anything else, please don't say those things for me. Lady Death is my creator after all.
Fine, but I still don't like her.
I know Master… I know…
Sighing, I shake my head.
Hey Lena? Look, I'm sorry I said those things about your creator, I'm just really mad at her, and you say I shouldn't be mad at her, but can't tell me why. It's just really frustrating. Okay?
Thank you Master, and I understand. I'm frustrated too, I want to tell you, I really do! But the stupid rules won't let me.
That's okay Lena, You mentioned earlier that this isn't the Abyss? Care to elaborate on that?
Oh! Right, yes, this isn't the Abyss, this is your very own empty dimension! It's what will eventually become your Hub World!
Okay…? If it's empty how does it become my Hub World?
There are two ways to acquire land for your Hub World Master. If you use a Boss Challenge Key you will be teleported to an Arena, where you will fight the indicated Boss, if you win you will be given a massive reward, which can be anything from land, to an Army, to the boss themself. The other way is to Invade other Dimensions, however this is only available if you have a standing army in your Hubworld.
Where can I get Boss Challenge Keys then?
They can be given as quest rewards, found as rare mob drops, or the most commonly, they can be found in a Dungeon's boss' loot chest.
Neat, I'll just get them as I grind Instant Dungeons then.
I'm sorry, but Instant Dungeons aren't a thing Master.
What? How do I access dungeons then? Are they just scattered across whatever universe I pick? I do get to pick what universe I got to right?
Got'em in one Master! Also we should probably move on to Character Creation.
Okay then.
Just one moment Master, … and Done!
As Lena finishes speaking the empty space around me changes into a white void. Wonderful. As if I'm not sick of fucking Abysses and voids by now, and a perfect replica of myself in my birthday suit appears in front of me.
So first things first. Race. Do you wish to change your race Master?
Yes, please! Please change it to Adeptus Astartes.
Master, are you sure? If you do that, that will allow other things from the Warhammer 30k/40k universe to be in dungeons, random encounters, and as Invasions
Will they be an immediate threat? Also what the hell is an Invasion?
Not necessarily Master, and an Invasion is an event that may randomly occur once your Hubworld has been established. A faction or group will attempt to invade and take over your Hubworld. If you are unsuccessful in repelling the invading force and they capture your Hubworld then you will receive a massive penalty until you retake it. However if you defeat the invading force, you earn The Spoils of War, which can be almost anything, and is guaranteed to be highly valuable.
Eh, Fuck it, but just to make sure, the normal hypno indoctrination that all Space Marines go though will be disabled by Gamer's Mind, right?
Correct Master.
Then yes, Lena, I'm sure.
Okay then! Master, which Legion's Gene seed would you like to use?
The IV's, the Iron Warriors Lena.
On it, Master!
I watch as the copy of me changes, growing taller and bulking out in muscle mass.
Here Master, I'll bring up the customization menu for you.
Thank you Lena.
A black and white box pops up with a long list of sliders and other options for customization. Looking over the list, I find the slider for height, and I decide to go with the average height for a space marine, moving the slider until my counterpart stands at a looming seven feet tall. Browsing through the rest of the options, I change my eye color to a nice Steel grey, I don't know why but Lena gets really happy when I do. It's really strange, and I get the feeling that it's somehow important, but nonetheless, I continue down the list, making a few small adjustments here and there. The last thing I do before closing the menu is edit the size of my battle brother downbelow, before I was an average 5 inches, now? Well, I'm definitely not average anymore, looking at my now, twelve inches of man meat between my legs, I grin. It'll be nice to have a bitch breaker.
Closing the menu, I look over my avatar one last time, satisfied with it, I smile.
Lena, I'm done customizing my avatar. What's next?
Good Job Master! Now, it's time to fill out your character sheet.
Before I can respond, another box pops up.

Lena. What. the. Fuck.
What the hell is Death's Loving Embrace? And Child of the Abyss?
Lady Death gifted me to you Master, and it seems she included a few other things in her gift. And to be honest, Master? I don't know how you got Child of the Abyss, but I think it has something to do with whoever Fractured your soul.
Well that's not ominous at all. But whatever.
Selecting the box next to Name, I go to type in my name. … and I can't remember my name. I fucking swear I'm going to kick whoever fractured my soul in the nuts. Or punch them in the tit if they've got those. Grumbling I remember a name and type that in.

Tapping yes, I sigh, I can't remember my own fucking name, but I can remember what I'd name my video game characters. What kind of Bullshit is that?
The worst kind, Master, but if it's any consolation, I like your new name! Now Please choose your alignment.

…uh, Lena? The fuck is going on here? Why are most of the options xed out?
Let me check the system, Master. …oh. Well, uh, Master, it seems we've found out part of what Child of the Abyss does.
It locks my Alignment to Evil? That also begs the question, how does Alignment even work?
Yes Master, and Alignment affects your remorse and guilt. Pretty much all it does.
Wait, the system fucks with my emotions?!
Uhm well, ...Duh, Master. How do you think Gamer's Mind works?
Oh. …now that I think about it …that makes a lot of sense.
Shaking my head, I think about which of my whopping three choices I should pick. Lawful Evil is Evil, but with a code or set of rules. Neutral Evil is self-serving Evil plain and simple. And Chaotic Evil is evil for the sake of spreading misery and suffering. Choosing Neutral Evil causes another pop up.
[Neutral Evil]
[Confirm Yes/No]
Tapping yes, I then move on to distruibiting my stat points.
By the way, Master, your Luck stat can only be increased by using Luck Stat Crystals. You can get Stat Crystals by loot drops, or by quest rewards.
Oh, well then I already know where I'm putting points. Primarily into CON and INT, with STR and WIS being secondary, and DEX being tertiary. CHA is going to be my dump stat, because frankly I can worry about honeying my words later, when I'm strong enough to not have to worry about the consequences of failing to talk my way out of a situation.
Also, just to double check before I confirm my stat point assignment, Lena, do any of my stats do anything out of the ordinary? Or are they all name on tin kind of stuff?
The only different thing that's different for you Master, is that your MP and MP Regen is based solely off of your INT, instead of INT and WIS.
Oh, cool. Confirming my allocated stats I look back over my character sheet.

While I would've preferred to get the Warhammer instead of the Greataxe, since I was getting the Winchester Model 1886 regardless of whatever else I purchased, it would've left me with only 100 credits left, and I wouldn't have had enough to get much of anything else I wanted. Although I am cutting it a little close, with only 25 Credits left, I'd rather be well equipped and poor, than under equipped and wealthy.
Alrighty Lena, I'm done purchasing stuff, what's left?
Well Master, two things are left. Although the second one is optional. First, is to select your world, and Second is the tutorial fight. The fight is really just a way for you to get used to your body and gain a bit of exp in a controlled environment. Plus you get loot and the rewards for completing the associated quest.
Oh nice. I'm definitely doing the tutorial quest then, but for world selection, is there a list or something that I have to pick from?
Nope! Just think of a world, and off we go!
That's surprisingly easy, I like it, but now I'm going to take a minute to think about what world I want to go into, carefully weighing the pros and the cons…. Nah, fuck that. Lena, let's go to the world of Remnant, RWBY here we come!
Okay, Master! But first, the Tutorial fight!
[THE IRON CONQUEROR]
And just like that, I'm now in a much taller body. Nearly stumbling, I catch myself on the nearest wall. I'm a little surprised, I figured I'd be fighting undead, or goblins, or something along those lines, but as I look around at the metal build and what appears to be spaceships, I conclude that this is not a fantasy setting, and that I'm in some sort of landing bay.
Sorry to disappoint you Master, but you're fighting space pirates today!
Space pirates you say? Are we in a specific dimension, or are these just generic pirates in space?
You'll just have to find out, won't you Master?
Oh, will I now? Alright then.
Opening my inventory I quickly equip my armor and my rifle. As I load my rifle, a thought crosses my mind.
Hey Lena, does my inventory have limits to what I can put into it?
Kinda Master. You have an infinite number of slots, but the items you store in it must be able to fit into a 10ft cube.
Oh fuck yes. I'm going to loot goblin the shit out of this place. Anything else I should know?
Besides the fact that you can stow and draw items from your inventory with a mental command? Nothing that's relevant at this point, and here's your quest Master!
[The First Quest]
You've found yourself aboard a space pirate vessel, oh whatever will you do?
Objectives:
Neutralize all pirates on board. [ ]
Bonus Objectives:
1. ? [ ]
2. [34:32] ? [ ]
Rewards: 1000 Credits, 1 Rare Gacha token, 1000 Exp.
Bonus Rewards:
1. Mythic Gacha token
2. ?
Ugh, I hate mystery objectives, and I'm assuming the countdown is a timed bonus objective?
Yup! Good Hunting Master!
Alrighty then. Racking the lever on my rifle I grin.
"Time to kick some ass!".
Shouldering my rifle, I begin moving towards the only man sized door in the landing bay. As I reach the door it opens automatically, and on the other side I see a tall, but hunched, grayish teal bipedal, with an exoskeleton and crab pincers for hands on the other side.
Oh fuck yes. I'm in the Metroid universe. Samus Aran here I come.
The space pirate, somewhat stunned by my unexpected appearance, is too slow to react as I raise my rifle and fire off a shot hitting him square in his chest, his exoskeleton doing nothing to stop the bullet from piercing all the way through the alien's body. The loud boom of my rifle echos down the corridor, no doubt alerting more space pirates.

Dismissing the notification, I rack the lever loading another bullet into the chamber. The worst part about being in Metroid, is that I don't know where the fuck I am in the series. I could be in the first game or the last, I believe there's ten games in total, so I've no fucking clue where in the time line I am. Lena, any help here?
I'm sorry Master I'm not allowed to tell you when in the series you are, but, Master, I'm sure you'll do a Super job of figuring out what part of the Metroid timeline you're in.
Why did you emphasi- Oh. Thank you, Lena! You're the best.

...I still can't turn that off...
Chuckling, I load another cartridge into my rifle, replacing the one I just fired. I hear a loud strange clicking noise coming from the end of the hallway. Raising my rifle, I see another space pirate come around the corner, but before I fire, I quickly use observe.
[Space Pirate]
[Level 5]
[HP: 50/50]
A member of the space pirates from the Metroid series. This one is specifically a Zebeisan.
Firing another shot, I watch as the space pirate crumbles to the floor, it's green blood pooling around it. I'm guessing that clicking was their language? Maybe, but I don't really give a shit.
Moving down the hallway, I peek around the corner and see another door, rounding the corner with my rifle raised, I approach the door. When I'm about halfway to the door it opens, and nine more space pirates pour out. Firing without hesitation, two of my shots go wide, but I kill five. The remaining four screech loudly and charge at me.
Realizing I don't have time to reload, I send my rifle to my inventory and draw my Greataxe. Meeting the xenos with a charge of my own, I swing my axe down on the first one, nearly cleaving it in two, but I'm too slow to blow the attacks of the second and it claws my arm.
-10 HP
Oh. OH. Why the hell was I wasting bullets on these guys? Grinning like a madman, I let out a crazed laugh.
"ha, Ha, HA, HA, HA! Come you foul Xenos scum! Come break upon the mountain that is Gunmar Blackstone!"
Master are you alright?
Lena, I am an adeptus astartes now, at least let me act the part.

Refocusing on the pirates, I realize that they've now encircled me. Grunting as they strike me, I take my greataxe and send the butt of the handle into the crotch of the pirate to my right. As it doubles over, I quickly cleave it's spine in two. Turning to face the remaining two, I raise my greataxe in an overhead attack, and the pirates leap into motion, one attempts to block my greataxe, it loses its pincers. The other attempts to stab me in the stomach, but I manage to knee it in the head before its pincers reach me, it falls to the floor dazed. Raising my foot, I curb stomp the dazed pirate, turning its head into a smear on the floor, and I simply behead the pincerless one.
As I kill the last pirate, a flood of notifications pop up.

Dismissing the notifications, after I distribute my stat points into DEX and CON, I continue down the hallway to the door the pirates came out of, as the door opens, I walk into what appears to be a receptionist area. And as I look around the room, behind the big desk in the center of the room, I see a giant 'Welcome to the Ceres Space Colony' sign. That confirms it, I'm in Super Metroid, at the beginning of the game.
Master! I probably should have mentioned this earlier, but this is a canon deviant universe, everything before the events of Super Metroid is the same, but events here have not unfolded as they do in canon.
Ah, yea, you probably should've mentioned that earlier Lena, but it is what it is, so it's whatever, so what's differ-
My question is cut off by the station's intercom clicking on, a rough voice then speaks.
"Attention all Zebesians, I'd like to inform you that I've captured our greatest foe, the bounty hunter Samus Aran. About half an hour from now, I'll be in the mess hall, stop by if you want to watch as I rip her limb from limb.".
As the intercom clicks off, I only have two thoughts.
I know what that timed objective is, and I'm going to tear who ever the fuck that was a new asshole, if he so much as lays a finger on my Samus. Well the Samus that will eventually be mine. Hey Lena, I can take Samus with me if-When I save her, right?
Yes Master, but you have to be in physical contact with her or she has to be in your party when I move us to Remnant.
That's easily done. By the way, how much time is left on the countdown?
[30:26]
I should get a move on then. Before I leave the reception area, I pull out and reload my rifle, then store it and grab my greataxe. Leaving the reception room, I'm faced with a choice. Left? Or Right? Right's gotta be right, right? As I begin moving down the right hand hallway, I start to see blood splatters all over the place, on the walls, the floor, and even some on the ceiling. Well that's not a good sign, especially since I don't see any bodies anywhere.
Looking down the hallway, I see many doors. This is going to take a hot minute.
[THE IRON CONQUEROR]
So, three things. One, I've found the armory. Two, it only had grenades in it. Three, it only had grenades in it. I now own twenty-one Frag grenades. Pulling up the stats on a grenade one more time, I cackle.
[Fragmentation Grenade] [Common]
Pull the pin and throw. Explodes in a 10ft radius. Deals 100 Damage.
I've found just what I need to deal with the no-doubt crowded cafeteria, like seriously since those first ten pirates I haven't encountered any more, and this is a big station.
Master, just a warning but the timed objective has ten minutes remaining.
Oh shit, thanks for telling me Lena. Time to get my ass to the mess hall.
[THE IRON CONQUEROR]
Okay, here I am, standing just outside the mess hall, I can hear the roaring crowd from out here. Double checking that everything is ready to go, I take a deep breath, and open the door.
Walking into the cafeteria, I'm a little surprised, there's only about a hundred pirates in here. While the pirates are tall, I'm taller, I can see right over their heads to the makeshift arena they've set up. In the center of the arena I see a towering draconic looking biped. Ah, Ridley, makes sense that he'd be the leader, however the person I'm looking for, Samus, doesn't seem to be here. Checking the timer, I see that I've got about five and a half minutes left. Where is she?
Just as I'm about to start tearing into these fuckers, the crowd's volume doubles. Looking back towards the arena, I watch as two pirates drag Samus into the ring. She doesn't have her Power Suit on and she doesn't look good, thanks to my enhanced sight I can see all the rips and tears in her zero suit. Even worse is all of the cuts and bruises she has all over her. One of her eyes looks like a purple growth with how swollen it is. She doesn't even resist the pirates dragging her, which is strange, because in Metroid lore, Samus is depicted as the type to fight to the bitter end and as one who never gives up..
I see Ridley open his mouth and start to speak, but even with my enhanced hearing, I can't hear anything over the roar of the crowd. As the two pirates drop Samus, Ridley stops speaking and lets out a deafening roar, and just as Samus barely stands up, he sucker punches her in the gut, sending her tumbling over and across the ring. Launching himself after her, Ridley begins to lay a brutal beating out on Samus.
Alright, that's enough, pulling out the grenades, I start pulling pins and chucking the grenades across the room, careful not to throw any into the ring. I'm really surprised I haven't been noticed, but just as I go to throw the fourth grenade, the first one detonates with a loud BOOM.
As I continue throwing grenades, and body parts start flying, the crowd starts to panic, rushing for the exits. As the pirates near me turn to run they notice me and begin moving towards me. I faintly hear Ridley yelling something..
Pulling out my greataxe, I charge the pirates, some of them charge me, while others open the claws towards me. What the hell ar-
I just barely am able to jump to the side to avoid an energy blast from one of the pirates. Ah, right. They can shoot energy blasts from their claw weapons.
As the pirates charging me reach me, I swing my greataxe down, disemboweling one and cutting the leg off another. One of the pirates hits me in the shoulder dealing ten damage, but I ignore it and continue ripping through them. At this point all of my grenades have detonated, and they should've taken out a large portion of the enemies in here, but it's hard to tell as I am currently mulching the pirates around me.
Five minutes later, the mob of pirates surrounding me are all either dead or dying, oh, and I'm covered in blood and gore. Disgusting. Looking around, I see an empty cafetiera. Well except for the pissed off 10ft tall draconic looking lizard-man charging my way. OH FUCK!
Rolling to the side I just barely dodge Ridley's lunge towards me. Growling, he turns towards me.
"I'll rip out your spine and feast on your heart, you foolish human! I am Ridley, one of the most feared Space Pirates alive! Surrender now and I'll consider making your death quick."
I somehow doubt his offer, on a count of the malicious glint in his eyes, he goes to say something else but I tune him out, and while he's talking I fire off [observe] on him.
[Ridley, The Space Pirate Commander]
[Level 20, Veteran]
Ridley is of an unknown species, but he is a well known sadistic and brutal space pirate with a horrific and bloody history.
[HP: 850/1000]
Well fuck. That's bad, really really bad, I'm assuming the missing HP is from his fight with Samus earlier? Probably, but back to how utterly fucked I am. Lena, I thought you said this was a controlled environment!? The fuck's this shit?
Don't worry Master! You can hit way above your weight class because of your race! You'll be fine. ….probably.
Fucking damnit Lena. sigh. I'll just have to do this the old fashioned way.
"And then I'll eat your kidneys!"
Is he still talking? Fucking hell, talk about a serious streotypical villianous monologue. I'm not going to listen to him drone on and on about how he's going to toture me. Drawing my Lever-action, I aim and begin firing while Ridley is still talking.
My first shot hits him slightly off center in his chest, he falls over from the shock of being interrupted, and from being shot.
My second shot pierces his knee, removing his ability to walk or run.
My third shot misses as he rolls to the side and darts up into the air with his wings.
"I'M GOING TO RIP YOU TO PIECES YOU OVERGROWN APE!"
Lunging towards me again, I fire my rifle again hitting Ridley in his beak. As his head snaps up and he crashes again I grin.
[CRITICAL HIT!]
Double Damage!
"HA! Take that you overgrown lizard!"
While he's recovering I use [observe] on him.
[Ridley, The Commander of the Space Pirates]
[Level 20, Veteran]
[HP: 611/1000]
Ridley is of an unknown species, but he is a well known sadistic and brutal space pirate with a horrific and bloody history.
Well damn, this fucker's a tough one. As I pull the trigger on my rifle, a notification pops up.
[Bad Luck!]
Your gun jammes.
Are you fucking kidding me!? I really, really fucking appreiate that Lena!.
...I'm s-sorry Master… ...I c-can't control luck…
Sigh. Whatever. As I am talking with Lena, Ridley finally recovers and my rifle is down, while I am pretty fast at switching weapons, Ridley's faster, and is on top of me just as I send my rifle to my inventory. Blocking his bite with my forearm, I can see his now cracked exoskeleton oozing green blood, and I'm rewarded with a large chunk of my HP bar disappearing.
-80 HP
Okay ow. When I attempt to punch him in his weakened exoskeleton, he rears back, letting go of my arm, and I only land a glancing hit off his chest.
Rolling backwards, I dodge his spear-like tail as it attempts to gore me. Ridley growls at his near-hit. As he swings his razor sharp claws towards me, I charge under his swing and tackle him to the floor. I begin to drill my fists into his face, as I do I fail to notice his tail as it creeps up behind me and then wraps itself around my neck.
With my airflow suddenly cut off, I start choking. I quickly reach up and attempt to dislodge his tail from around my neck, my SP bar ticking down. Wait, SP?
... choking r-removes S-SP first Master, sniffle, t-then HP…
Ah fuck, I've upset Lena Shit. Fuck I'll have to deal with her after I get this fucker's tail off of my neck. I soon realize that I'm not getting this tail off of my neck with my hands anytime soon. So plan B it is.
Ridley, thinking he's won, stands up, attempting to drag me up with him, but he doesn't get far. I'm an Astartes, I weigh six hundred and sixty pounds. Ridley growls again.
"You're one heavy human, I'll give you that. But as you can see I've won, but you never really had a chance you stupid ape. Now how di-"
Growing sick of his voice I use my Betcher's Gland, and spit acid on to his tail.
Ridley immediately yanks his tail off of my neck, yelling in pain as my acid eats away at his tail. I'm free from that fucking tail, and I've lost three hundred SP, but Ridley's lost a tail. Smirking I speak.
"You space pirates aren't the only ones to fuck with your genetics."
As I'm talking I draw my Greataxe.
"YOU DIRTY FUCKING APE, I'M GOING TO TURN YOU INTO A RED SMEAR ON THE FLOOR!"
Meeting Ridley's charge head on, he doesn't even seem to notice as I slam my axe into his shoulder, nearly cutting through his shoulder, and manages to stab into my gut. There goes another large portion of my health.
-100 HP
He attempts to bite my head, but I manage to kick him off me first. Aiming for his lightly armored waist, I swing my axe up at him, just as he lets loose several large fireballs down towards me. Deciding to tank through his attacks, I continue my swing, putting my full Astates strength behind it.
I feel my axe briefly meet resistance, and then the fireballs hit me.
-100 HP
-100 HP
-100 HP
-100 HP
...I should not have tanked through that… my HP bar has less than a tenth of it left. Just thank fuck I'm not on fire.
Sitting up, when did I get on the floor? Looking around, I see my Greataxe, blackened but alright, a few feet to my right, and after picking it up, I spot Ridley, well his upper half anyway. Walking over to him, I watch as he weakly attempts to crawl away, his bright green blood trailing after him.
"Got nothing to say now, do ya? And what was that about me 'never really having a chance'?"
I kick him in the ribs, flipping him over onto his back, he attempts to raise his arms to do… something, what that something is, I haven't the slightest clue. Raising my Greataxe above my head, I see the pleading look in his eyes.
And I laugh as I bring my axe down, separating his neck from his shoulders.
Collapsing down to one knee, I breathe for a moment…
…Then the notifications come.

Hey Lena?
…y-yes, Master?
Earlier, when I was in the middle of a big fight, bad luck struck, and I yelled at you because I thought it was your fault that my gun jammed, but it wasn't your fault and I shouldn't have yelled at you, and I'm sorry.
Y-you're not m-mad at m-me? A-and you forgive me?
No Lena, I'm not mad at you. It was wrong of me to be mad at you in the first place, and there's nothing to forgive, I wronged you.
THANK YOU MASTER!

So they drugged her, that explains why she wasn't fighting back earlier. And Damn Ridley really did a number on her, I'm not trained in any sort of medicine or first aid, but even I can tell she's got a lot of broken bones, a ridiculous amount of lacerations, and probably a concussion too. Thankfully she still has a pulse, albeit a very weak pulse, but a pulse nonetheless. She appears to be unconscious though. I don't know what the fuck to do here, I don't know how to treat her wounds, I don't even-
Wait, Lena! Can I access the full shop?
Ummm… Give me a second Master, let me see if I can pull some strings here… Aaaand Done! You've now got full access to the shop!
Thank you, Lena! You're a lifesaver.
I live to serve!
Opening the shop, I quickly search for Health Potions.
Ah-ha! There you are, there's four different tiers of health potions, Minor, which heals 10% of your max HP, Major, which heals 40% of your max HP, Greater which Heals 75% of your max HP, and Ultimate, which fully heals you to max HP. Minor costs two hundred and fifty credits, Major costs nine hundred and fifty credits, Greater costs one thousand seven hundred and fifty credits, and the Ultimate costs twenty-five hundred credits.
Ah, fuck, there goes most of my money. Hitting confirm, I watch as an Ultimate health potion appears in my inventory, pulling it out my inventory I cast Observe on it.
[Ultimate Health Potion]
Fully heals the user back to max health. Can be drunk or applied to the skin.
Sigh. Well here goes nothing, I pour the Potion over Samus' body, and I watch, with morbid fascination, as her cuts and lacerations begin to mend, flesh knitting itself back together, bruises fading in a matter of seconds, and broken bones moving back into place under her skin. It's morbidly fascinating. After a minute, I look her over and find no more visible injuries, and her pulse is much stronger now.
While Samus is all healed up, the same can't be said for her zero suit. At this point it's just a bunch of blood stained rags, and as I'm totally not just checking out Samus, the world around us suddenly shifts, returning to the my Hub dimension. Uh, Lena? I thought we were going to remnant?
We are, Master! There's just one more thing to do.
But I thought you said it was just the tutorial fight, then off to Remnant?
…I forgot…
Sigh. Well, alright what's up?
The Perk for a Penalty Machine! It will randomly give you a permanent perk, which can be actual perks, skills, or super rare items! But it also gives you a temporary Flaw. You can use this system as many times as you want, Master!
Oh, that's cool. Sure go ahead and give me a spin. I hear a ding sound and a notification pops up.
[Perk]
[Customized Starter Home]
Instead of a crappy run-down apartment, you get to design your own home!
[Flaw]
[Wanted Dead, Most Certainly Dead]
You've got a high lien bounty on your head. You will occasionally encounter those who wish to collect it. To remove this Flaw, find the person who placed the bounty and settle the score.
Oh, that's fucking nice. That's a really fucking nice perk, for a minor inconvenience. Lena, hit me again.
[Perk]
[Natural Craftsman]
You've got a knack for making things. Any items you make are one quality tier Higher.
[Flaw]
[You Dense Motherfucker]
Your body is so incredibly dense that it causes you problems while swimming. Namely, your inability to float. To remove this Flaw, reach Five-hundred DEX.
Eh? I wasn't planning on doing any swimming, or water related activities, also I can breathe water because I'm an Astartes. So there's that. But that Perk is going to over-fucking-powered, considering that I'm going to be making a lot of crap later. I'm feeling good, so Lena? Spin it again.
[Perk]
[I call Hacks]
You gain 3 world edit tokens.
[Flaw]
[I know what I'm doing ...I think]
Reduces exp gains by 75% until level 100.
FUCK! I just haaaad to be greedy, didn't I? Well now I've gone and gotten myself nerfed to shit. Damn fucking piece of shit, system, Not you Lena, but fucking worthless shit stick of a gambling system. Fuck.
…are you done Master?
…yes…
Good! Cause it's time to design your home!
Right. Are there any limitations?
Not really.
Can I just tell you what I want and have you design it for me?
Sure Master!
Cool. Let's see here, I'm going to want it underground, but with some sort of cover above it, go with a large warehouse. Just have normal locks and security cameras in the warehouse, but for the actual underground portion, have the highest technological security system possible, and make the entrance to the underground an elevator. Underground, I want a large fully kitted workshop, a trophy room, a large dungeon-style prison, an actual home-styled area with a big kitchen with a fully stocked bar, living room, dining room, gym, media room, a large master bedroom, and a couple dozen extra bedrooms. Also, put a huge storage room and a garage next to the workshop. And put a large industrial grade elevator leading up to the surface in the garage.
That all, Master?
Oh! And put hidden cameras everywhere. That should be it.
Okie-dokie, all done Master!
Alrighty then, time to go to Remnant?
Yup! Here we go!
And with that, the Abyss around me faded away.
