Chapter 6 Speeding up
On the streets of Metropolis
The guys are walking home from school with the new addition of Carter.
"So out of curiosity, anyone knows what that monster from yesterday was?" Ben asks his friends then they nod their heads no in response. "Weird" Ben comments. Suddenly Ben's stomach begins to growl, "Uhh, I'm hungry! I'm gonna get some chili fries, I heard that there's this awesome chili place not far from here. You guys want in?" Ben asks while holding his stomach from hunger.
"Sorry I have to go feed my fish" Garth replies as he then proceeds in a different direction. Ben then looks over at Oliver.
"I would but I have to practice, drama club has a performance in a month," Oliver responds as he as well diverges in a different direction. Ben defeatedly looks over at Carter.
"I don't suppose you want to go?" Ben asks, Carter nods his head yes which delightfully surprises him. "Awesome let's go!" Ben exclaims as the two of them head towards the pursuit of chili fries.
Meanwhile Downtown
On the top of a rooftop, the canine-like creature from before is biting a large steak bone with the cloaked figure next to him.
"All healed up Zed?" The cloaked figure asked. Zed shook his head happily, "Good; now it's time to get back out there and hunt our prey" The cloaked figure states sinisterly. Suddenly a very high pitched whistling sound is played and suddenly Zed is surrounded by a red light.
Back with Ben and Carter
The duo is seen leaving the chili place with a to-go bag in Ben's hand as they begin to head home.
"So may I ask, how did you get the whole hawk motif?" Ben inquires from Carter.
"Found this thing called Ninth Metal and somehow I got my powers. How about you?" Carter replies.
"This is going sound insane but my watch came falling from space when I was ten" Ben answers, moments later the two start laughing. Suddenly, the ground begins to shake. "I-Is metropolis on a fault line?" Ben asks Carter while the surrounding area begins to tremble. Carter quickly nods no but as the quake makes Carter's grip slip and drops the bag of chili fries on the ground. They both notice and become upset.
"Okay now this is personal, let's go" Ben states and the duo head towards the shade as two begin to change into their superhero personas. A couple of minutes later Omnium and Hawkman return to look for the source of the quaking.
"So any idea what we are looking for?" Omnium asks and Hawkman shrugs his shoulders in response. Suddenly the ground shakes once again but this time a large hole forms and a creature emerges. It is a giant worm-like alien with sharp teeth, a wide beak-like mouth. It lets out a loud shriek and then attempts to attack the two heroes but they dodge just in time. Hawkman uses his wings to take flight and tries to do an aerial strike on the creature. Unfortunately, the worm is fast and avoids the attack. The worm lets out a loud screeching sound then tightly wraps around Hawkman. Omnium worried, he quickly turns his attention to the Omnitrix and selects an alien and a green light surrounds him, his arms increase in size a little and his whole body becomes block-like, the blocks get colored red yellow and blue in that order.
"Whoa, this a new one" Omnium states in confusion.
"A little, help?" Hawkman asks as he is being choked by the worm. Omnium heads towards Hawk with his right arm out but surprising to him, his arm extends and punches the worm in the face making him release its grip on Hawkman.
"Cool, so I build stuff with this alien, only thing now is what to call him?" Omnium asks himself.
"Focus on the monster now and your name later" Hawkman exclaims to Omnium.
"You're right sorry" Omnium says as he transforms his right arm into a blaster that he points at the giant worm. He fires small cube blocks that hit the worm but it seems unaffected. Hawkman threw his mace at the worm making it backup a bit, then Omnium extends his arms and wrapped them around the worm. The worm screeches and quickly spins around causing Omnium to spin around with it which caused him to be launched into Hawkman. The two heroes are left beaten up on the ground, the worm takes this opportunity to try and finish them off. The worm looms over them ready to attack, but suddenly a red blur the size of a man charges towards the worm and attacks it at super high speeds. The worm is attacked several times all over his body and the red blur stops attacking it, the worm takes this chance to flee from the scene. The moment the monster flees the blur bolts away, Hawkman and Omnium get up and brushes off the dirt from their costumes.
"Hey Hawk, do you know who that is?" Omnium asks Hawkman, Hawkman nods his head no with a stunned face plastered on it. "Well what do wanna do now Hawk?" Omnium questions, Hawkman points forward toward a large bright building with the logo "Sweet Justice" written in big yellow letters. "Okay I'm staving but let's change first" Omnium states as the revert to the shadows to change back to the civilian attire.
At Sweet Justice
The two enter the restaurant and see many happy teens enjoying desserts and talking too each other. They walk over the counter and see a skinny guy with blond hair blue eyes wearing a pink apron over a white shirt with a magenta bow tie and white and pink hat, it was Barry Allen.
"Hey guys, what's up, what's the haps, can I get you something sweet, sure hope so because that's what we got" Barry states as Ben and Carter are shocked at how fast he is talking.
"Woah dude slow down, your talking like a mile a minute" Ben said concerned.
"Sorry that's just how I am super fast and super helpful, so what can I get ya?" Barry responded as Ben stares at the menu.
"I think I'll get a double fudge milkshake" Ben states as he turns his head to Carter "Carter you want anything?" Carter shakes his no and Barry turns around to make his order.
Over at a booth
Babs and her friends are all sitting in the booth talking but Babs is staring at Ben and Carter confused.
"Uh Babs, whatcha up to?" Kara asks
"You see that" Babs states and then points at Ben and Carter "Ben found a new friend, who is that?"
"First that's Carter, second I think you're becoming paranoid" Jessica comments
"Well think about it, Ben has been here for almost a month and he's making quite a variety of friends, suspicious" Babs states
"Babs it's normal to make friends quickly I mean you met all of us in one day" Zee replied
"True but there is just something suspicious about Ben, my detective senses are tingling" Babs retorted as she returns to spying.
Back at the counter
Barry hands Ben his order and Ben gives Barry the money for it. The two were about to leave,
"Hey wait" they turn around "I didn't catch your names" Barry states.
"Oh sure, I'm Ben and this is Carter" Ben replies and then the two leave Sweet Justice to head home.
A little bit later
Ben and Carter are to part ways to head home when the ground begins to shake once again, this causes the two get slightly annoyed.
"Lucky for me I finished my food this time, Carter can you go check where the monster is, I'm gonna alert the others" Ben exclaims and Carter nods in agreement as the two change into their hero personas and set their plan into action.
Five minutes later, the four Invincibros arrive downtown to the source of the shaking.
"So what are we looking for exactly?" Green Arrow asks.
"A giant worm" Hawkman replies.
"Of course it is" Green Arrow commented as they begin walking closer to the source of the shaking. Suddenly the ground shakes more intensely and the giant worm springs its head out from the ground. The team gets ready for battle and the giant worm lets out a loud high pitched screech. The heroes charged at the monster, Omnium pressed down on his watch and he was surrounded by a green light, Green Arrow released three arrows with ropes attached to them that wrap around the worm. Aqualad uses his power to create a giant fist made of water and it hits the worm. Hawkman takes to sky and perform an aerial grand slam with his mace which makes the worm to slam into the ground. The worm let out a painfully screech and it burrows its way underground.
"It's getting away!" Green Arrow exclaims.
"Not this time" Someone replies behind Green Arrow. Green Arrow turns around to reveal a yellow ten-feet-tall alien with an armored, robotic-like body, a gray tail and jackhammer parts on his elbows, wrists and hands and the omnitrix emblem on his chest.
"Ben?" Aqualad asks
"I go by Armodrillo in this form" Armodrillo responds. He proceeds to chase the worm underground. He catches up to the monstrous worm, but as he is about to attack the monster the worm charges at him face first and the two resurface from the ground with Armodrillo trapped within in its jaw. "Deja vu?" Armodrillo comments. Armodrillo struggles to free himself but the worm's jaw is too strong making his efforts seem futile. Ben's teammates begin to try to help him but the worm swats them away with its tail sending them crashing into a wall. With Omnium's allies out of the way the worm tries to finish off Armodrillo. Suddenly a familiar red blur speeds over to the monster and lands a powerful attack causing the worm to release Armodrillo. Armodrillo shakes off the slime he was covered in and looks up to see a man in a red suit with yellow boots and a yellow lightning bolt emblem on his chest.
"Oh hey what's up?" The red speedster asked.
"Who are you?" Armodrillo replied.
"You can call me the Flash" the speedster commented. Flash ran around the worm dealing numerous blows. Then he just started spinning around the worm creating a wind vortex that lifts the worm above ground. The vortex becomes so powerful it send the monster flying away screeching in fear. The others get up and sees the Flash and that the monster is gone.
"Woah, did you do that?" Aqualad asks and Flash rapidly nods his head yes. Armodrillo presses on the omnitrix emblem and he reverts back into Omnium.
"Thanks for the help Flash" Omnium says. Flash becomes surprised.
"Wait, you're not just the armadillo thing" Flash comments while being thoroughly confused.
"Yeah he's just a form of mine, by the way the name is Omnium, but can I ask you something?" Omnium states
"Sure what's up?" Flash replies
"How would you like join our team?" Omnium asks which causes Flash to become shocked.
"You want me to join your team, this isn't some kind of prank right?" Flash proclaims and Omnium respond by nodding his head no.
"So what do you say?" Green Arrow asks
"I guess I'm in!" Flash exclaims. This causes the other members to become excited with addition of a new member. "Also side note who are you identity wise?" Flash questions. The other Invincibros look around for other people in which they see none.
"Aqualad is Garth Bernstein, Hawkman is Carter Hall, Omnium Ben Tennyson, and I, Green Arrow is the great actor extraordinaire Oliver Queen" Green Arrow proclaims.
"He forgot his other alter ego, Mr. Theatrics" Aqualad comments which causes everyone but Green Arrow to chuckle.
"I guess I'm up" Flash says as he lifts up his mask revealing his identity as Barry Allen. "Ta-da"
"You're Barry Allen as in the sweet slinger at Sweet Justice. Omnium states and Flash nods his head yes. "I guess all that's left to say is welcome to the team" After Omnium says that the whole group fist bump and head home.
The next day at Metropolis High
The group with the addition of Barry is once again walking to the Daily Planetoid newspaper stand, they each grab a copy and sit down at their table. The front page reads "Cat caught by Bat" with a picture of Batgirl next to a handcuffed Catwoman. The group begins flipping through the pages.
"I found something but you guys might not like it" Garth comments as he shows an article that reads "Superman stops monster worm" with a blurry picture of Flash running. The group is left stunned by someone else taking credit for their heroics.
"They must of thought my suit was Superman's cape" Barry states.
"I beginning to think there is no winning in this system" Oliver theatrically argues.
Meanwhile Downtown
Zed walks back to the cloaked figure feeling defeated. The figure pets Zed caringly.
"Don't worry Zed if the prey thinks he's protected if he has a pack so be it. Soon the hunt will come to an end and we will come out on top" The cloaked figure states menacingly.
End of Chapter 6
