The first true battle of the Goa'uld war began when the Goa'uld sent through the relief force meant to replace the garrison force of Ùr Albion. The Jaffa forces were not expecting any resistance from on Ùr Albion at all. The British devastated the Jaffa forces, but they managed to move forward enough to take the DHD for long enough to withdraw back to their base and send word to Apophis that one of his worlds had been conquered by a technologically advanced race. Apophis sent off a larger force specifically to capture the planet he did not think that the enemy force was large of technologically advanced enough to send a Ha'tak to the world as at the time he was involved in a brutal war with Cronus.
Following the initial attack, the British had expanded their forces and defences around the Stargate as well as a system of dialling Ùr Albion every hour to check that the forces of Apophis had not attacked again. The Jaffa stormed through the gate at 10:30pm 15th of April 1925 into prepared defences. The British countered and the Second Battle of Ùr Albion began with Jaffa storming from the Stargate into the defensive lines of the British occupying forces. The opening rank of the Jaffa were slaughtered, and the following ranks were soon forced to utilize the corpses of their predecessors as shields from the British counter attacks
The early part of the battle raged for the thirty-eight minutes that Stargates ran for as the Jaffa's Stargate ran out and the British check in from Earth came in just as the Jaffa Stargate ran out. The British were worried as they had been unable to dial into Ùr Albion. Thus, when they could dial into the planet they had already gathered forces for the eventual relief force. The Radio exchange reinforced the idea that they needed help mainly as the radio operator screamed that they were about to be overrun. When the British relief forces arrived, they managed to strike from the rear mainly since the Jaffa had spread out from the Stargate and were on the verge of breaking the British defending forces and recapturing the planet.
The Jaffa were broken and spread out across the planet allowing the British to reinforce their positions and study the corpses of the Jaffa. They found out that their bullets could not pierce the Jaffa and from their they started to work on developing armour piercing bullets that could pierce Jaffa armour and kill the Jaffa. As the suns set over Ùr Albion the British forces began to plan how they would deal with possible future Jaffa attacks as the casualties that they had taken had been exceedingly high. As the British slept the Jaffa survivors that had grouped together managed to retake the Gate and escape returning to Apophis bearing news of the defeat and how advanced their foes were.

While the British and Goa'uld debated on how to face and defeat their enemies the British launched another expedition to the area where they had originally found the Stargate to try and find something else in the area. Archaeologists also began to work on what had been found with the Stargate itself the broken cover-stone. The majority of the cover-stone was in Old Egyptian and told of a gateway to the heavens which the archaeologists assumed was the Stargate. But in the centre of the cover-stone there were several inscriptions that were found on the Stargate. After three weeks of reconstruction the assembled archaeologists from across the world sent a message to London. 'The egg is broken.'
With the completion of the Gate address the British decided to send a small ten-man team through the gate to the destination given to scout out the planet and if possible discover if they could use the population of the world as allies against Apophis. The first IIET were veterans of the Russian Civil war and had fought in the First and Second Battle of Ùr Albion. Under the command of newly promoted Captain Tolkien who at the time was working on his PHD on the lingual evolution of the people of Ùr Albion. Back to the topic at hand the force was made up by seven soldiers, and three academics specializing in archology, technology, and ancient languages.
The IIET dialled in from earth to the new address. The gate opened in the heart of an ancient pyramid in the middle of a massive desert similar to that of the Sahara found on Earth. As the IIET explored the area around the pyramid they found occasional prints in the sand that recalled large hooves like animals found on Earth. As the British withdrew to the pyramid Tolkien stumbled across a pair of farmers from the settlement with a Mastadge. He attempted to communicate and worked out that they spoke a language similar to that spoke on Ùr Albion but with a stronger Arabic influence. From there he managed to strike a conversation with them, and they offered to take him back to the main settlement of the planet. Tolkien gathered the rest of his team and they all joined the pair as they returned to the main settlement of Abydos.
When they arrived the people in the town assumed that they were from their God Ra due to the prominent place the Eye of Ra had on their regimental patches. As they had arrived the day after Ra had taken the Naquadah that Abydos produced and left the threat that they would be found out was minimal. So, they lived the high life for the next week learning about the culture of Abydos and the goods produced by the planet. The revelation that the world produced Naquadah on a much larger scale then the few mines found on New Windsor stunned the IIET, but they continued with their mission. Tolkien and the archaeologist in the team would spend a lot of time in the desert around the pyramid that held the Stargate. During their walks Tolkien and the archaeologist stumbled across a cave containing the address's for thousands of planets within the Milky Way Galaxy that had Stargates. Tolkien immediately sent word back to Earth and New Windsor requesting cameras and enough archaeologists to get every Address down for the British Empire. The government was more then happy to and began to send not only archaeologists and photographers but miners to aid the people of Abydos in order for the Empire to secure more Naquadah for the rapidly growing military.
