Well until the end of 1925 the Goa'uld Empire had no real idea that the British existed Apophis knew that a technologically advanced force had occupied Ùr Albion temporarily but when he detached a Ha'tak to crush them they had left. The incident slipped his mind since by withdrawing a Ha'tak to crush the British on Ùr Albion Cronus had managed to break through the frontline and ran rampage across the territory under the control of Apophis. This allowed the British to expand by capturing Nelson and New Hannover. When Fenris joined the Empire, the British found some of the greatest shock troops in the galaxy.

This all ended with the Battle of Nova Mercia. Nova Mercia was on the frontline of the war between Cronus and Apophis. When IIET-1 arrived on the world the forces of Cronus were on the verge of defeat. However, this very much was a recent phenomenon the forces of Cronus had been on the verge of capturing Nova Mercia. The Stargate had been captured by the forces of Cronus early so the only way of the planet for the forces of Apophis was through Ha'taks. As the Jaffa withdrew to the landing zones for evacuation Apophis himself led a relief force of ten Ha'taks routing the two that Cronus had dispatched and allowing him to land the reinforcements that he had brought. With orbital supremacy and massive numbers of Jaffa Apophis led the counterattack. Across Nova Merica the forces of Cronus were broken and scattered. The largest organized force led a retreat to the Stargate. IIET-1 had just left the Stargate when they saw two large forces of Jaffa heading rapidly towards the Stargate. Instead of withdrawing Tolkien called on the reinforcements that every IIET had access to. The Black Watch fresh from conquering the last Kingdom of New Hannover established a defensive position around the Stargate with round an hour to spare when the first Jaffa reached the top of the mountain the Stargate was located on. When the Jaffa of Cronus entered range of the British guns Tolkien gave the order to fire. The Jaffa were slaughtered yet still they kept on coming. As the casualties grew the corpses of the Jaffa drew closer to the guns of the British. Then the Jaffa reached the British lines the fourteen that had reached the British positions were killed quickly but the British took losses two members of IIET-1 were killed in action the first casualties that Royal Stargate had ever taken in battle. As the British disposed of the last of the Jaffa corpses the Jaffa under the direct command of Apophis and his First Prime entered the British range. Apophis had far more Jaffa then the routed forces of Cronus and he made use of them as well as his personal shield. Tolkien and the commander of the Black Watch jointly ordered the withdrawal of British forces and commenced the first use of the Lindisfarne Option. The British had emplaced landmines laced with Naquadah a hundred meters in front of their defensive positions. Their detonations tore open a massive chasm in the mountain allowing the British to withdraw in peace without having to deal with Jaffa attacking them and attempting to stop their escape. Though in this case the Lindisfarne Option did allow three Jaffa over the chasm the First Prime of Apophis and two others. The First Prime of Apophis at that time was Bra'tac of Chulak. He was knocked out by the British, but Tolkien ordered him and the other Jaffa isolated to be taken back through the Stargate to first New Hannover and then Earth. As the Black Watch and IIET-1 fell back through the gate Tolkien commanded the rear guard. As he was about to fall back though the gate Apophis spoke to him from across the cavern that Tolkien had created. Tolkien's counter speech is more well known but for the sake of knowledge I will transcribe both. "I am System Lord Apophis. Brother of Supreme System Lord Ra I am a god that could crush you and all you love in an instant. Whom are you to DARE stand against ME?" to which Tolkien replied "I am a soldier of his Majesty George V King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, of Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the West Indies, Jamaica, the Cape, Natal, Orange, Bechuanaland and Transvaal and Emperor of India. I am a servant of Christ bearing his banner aloft across the stars. I am Captain John Ronald Reuel Tolkien of Imperial Interstellar Exploratory Team 1. To me you are nothing but a false demented god.". Tolkien would then withdraw through the Stargate just before it closed. Apophis now knew of the British and his wrath and fury was raised against them. The Goa'uld war had truly begun.

Following the end of the Russian Civil War and the execution of Trotsky the Russian Empire entered into a period of reform and rebuilding the debts that the Russians had taken off had been removed in return for the ceding of territory and the agreement to open up to international investments. The Duma would push for more reform and in early 1926 with the agreement of Michael II a referendum was held asking if the people of Russia would support adopting a new Constitution. The vote passed with 65% of the vote supporting the move and the Constitution of the Russian Empire of 1926 was drafted. The Constitution stripped the Tsar of the majority of their remaining power leaving them with command of the Armed Forces and the power to dissolve the Duma. The Constitution formally made the Russian Empire a federal state with the majority of ethnic minorities being granted a federal state the areas with Russian majority population were divided into several states as well. Some of the sates created in Siberia and the North Caucasus contained several ethnic minorities due to the low population of the areas. The administrative borders in Russian held Central Asia were simplified with the lucrative Fergana Valley becoming its own state surrounded by states formed on ethnic borders and disputes. Alongside the formation of states for ethnic minorities the new Constitution protected the languages and environments of the internal states with even those in the Russian states learning a minority language. The second Referendum in the Russian Empire held in 1926 asked if the people supported the new Constitution. 75% of the vote supported it and the Russian Empire formally became a federal Constitutional Monarchy. Democracy had triumphed in the east and from the Empire of Japan to Great Britain the flame of democracy burned bright.

The isle of Cyprus to the south of Anatolia had been formally annexed by the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland just before they intervened in the Balkan War against the collapsing Ottoman Empire. In the Treaty of Constantinople, the British had agreed to hold a referendum in 1925 on the fate of the island. The island had a large Greek population but counter to that a large Turkish population lived on the island. When the time for the Referendum came about in November 1925 the ethnic divisions on the island also showed the divide in the voting aim. The Greek population supported being annexed into the Second Byzantine Empire while the Turkish supported continuing on as a colony of the British Empire. When the referendum rolled around Byzantium and the Republic of Turkey both focused on the results with crystalline interest. 56% of the vote supported joining the Second Byzantine Empire the ageing Constantine XII would head to the island on the 27th of December for the formal handover to the Second Byzantine Empire. At midnight the 31st of December he witnessed the lowering of the Union Jack over Cyprus and the raising of the Byzantine flag. The next morning, he was found in his bed dead of a heart attack his eldest son Crown Prince Geórgios ascended to the throne as Geórgios I Emperor of the Rhomans. The British called him George I of the Second Byzantine Empire.
