Brittania rules the stars

This is a story wherein the United Kingdom finds the Stargate in 1905 and makes it public. Written in the style of a historical text and goes in detail so that to quote one review "WHY any of this is important to anyone not at least in college studying world political history".

38. Set sail and conquer

The capture of Nova Lusitania by the Portuguese had led to complications and many in the Portuguese government called to annex it. The proposal did have some support in the British Government as it was seen as a way to ensure that Portugal would continue with their commitments against the Goa'uld as well as saving costs. To counter the view the opposition and several in government pointed out that the Stargate was in British territory and they could not afford to have Portuguese migrants moving through if a Goa'uld attack came through the Stargate. Many also noted that the ceding of Nova Lusitania to the Portuguese would set a potentially dangerous precedent. The division grew and grew until Winston Churchill introduced a bill to the House of Commons stating that Nova Lusitania would be ceded to the Kingdom of Portugal. The bill barely passed the House of Commons and only by a single vote did the House of Lords let it pass. When the news broke the support for the Monarchy and government in Portugal skyrocketed. The Portuguese Government authorized the founding of two new PIET and every member of PIET-1 joined the Sash of the Two Orders. The international reaction was sheer shock and then opportunistic. The German Empire, Austria-Hungary, France, and Norway all announced on the 20th of May that they were founding Interstellar Exploratory Teams to work with the British. Over the next week the United States, the Empire of Japan, the Russian Empire, the Second Byzantine Empire, the Republic of the United State of Brazil, the United Kingdom of Finland and Estonia, the Kingdom of Poland, the Second Grand Duchy of Lithuania, the Kingdom of Latvia, the Imperial State of Iran, the Kingdom of the Arabs, the Kingdom of Egypt, the Kingdom of Italy, the Kingdom of Rumania, the Tsardom of Bulgaria, the Kingdom of Serbia, the Kingdom of Montenegro, the Kingdom of Albania and the Kingdom of Belgium all formed Interstellar Exploratory Teams to work with the British. The Goa'uld war was slowly beginning to warp from the British against the Goa'uld to Free Humanity against the Goa'uld

With the capture of Nova Lusitania by the PIET and the influx of International Interstellar Exploratory Teams the British decided to expand the forces of Royal Stargate Command from within the empire. The British government announced the formation of the first Irish Scottish, Welsh, and English Interstellar Teams. Alongside this the Commonwealths announced the formation of their own teams. The Canadians were the first Commonwealth to raise two Interstellar Exploratory Teams with one force from Quebec and another force from the Anglo regions of Canada. The Australian force was drawn from the wide stretches of the Outback though their commander Capitan Smith was from Tasmania. The new Indian Dominions all supported teams to fight against the Goa'uld these would later become one of the greatest foes of Nirrti. The Boer teams drawn from the two Boer Commonwealths became well known for sturdiness with their stand at Kimberly becoming national legend in the Commonwealth of Orange.

While Earth slowly began to mobilize for the fight against the Goa'uld the forces that they already had continued their war against the tyrants oppressing the galaxy. IIET-3 began to earn their fame as the ravages of Goa'uld Logistics. They stumbled upon a major farming world that supplied the Jaffa of Apophis along a particularly brutal stretch of the frontline against Cronus. The world had a heavy Jaffa detachment, so IIET-3 withdrew to inform Royal Stargate Command of the discovery. Initially the British did not think that it was that important then Bra'tac revealed that the world fed the majority of the Jaffa likely to be selected for Apophis's bodyguard. The British decided to eliminate the world as a resource for Apophis and his allies. They gathered every IET including the newly raised international ones, the Black Watch, Royal Melbourne Regiment, and the Royal Scots and several Death Gliders designed to be transported through the Stargate. On the 1st of June, the British stormed the world with all of their fury. When the Stargate opened initially a barrage of artillery and machine guns was poured through the Event Horizon saturating the area around the Stargate in plasma. Then led by IIET-1 the infantry stormed through. The Jaffa around the Stargate had been killed by the bombardment. Thus, when Jaffa reinforcements arrived they were eliminated by the infantry after three openings of the Stargate all of the British forces were through the Stargate. From there the British spread out across the world. They had been ordered to destroy the worlds infrastructure and farming capability. So, when they reached the massive farms that dominated the main continent they began to burn. The farmers were liberated from the Goa'uld and sent through to New Hannover due to its status of the farm of the British Empire. Everything else was destroyed once a family had evacuated their house it was destroyed. The fires lit in the crop fields spread ravaging the planet. From there the British and allies withdrew their casualties had been heavy and one of the Death Gliders had been shot down, but they had secured their victory. The name that the world was given following the operation was highly accurate for what was left behind. Cromwell was a ravaged ruin the people of the planet had fled to New Hannover without the British needing to coerce them and so the fires were left unchecked. When Apophis heard the news, he realized that George V was a threat and had to be dealt with. For left in the ashes of the capital city a stone had been left bearing the message "In the name of George V George V King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, of Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the West Indies, Jamaica, the Cape, Natal, Orange, Bechuanaland and Transvaal Burma, Bengal, Orissa, Maharashtra, Baluchistan, Indoscythia, Dravidia, and the Ganges. Flee Apophis flee and know this the British Empire will break you and your Empire. For what can a false god do against the will of Christ." Many of the records show that Tolkien himself wrote the message for Apophis.

The development of Nova Lusitania by the Kingdom of Portugal was slower than New Windsor, Nelson or Fenris due to the Portuguese only able to head to the planet at certain times. Thus, during those times they would send more men and resources then the British did to their worlds. The capital of Aviz would be raised around the Stargate with a particular style of design arising in the capital focusing on Nova Lusitanian granite pillars. The world would soon be seen as a hub of Republicanism and the left wing in Portugal. Today the majority of the Social Democratic Members within the Portuguese Parliament originate from Nova Lusitania.
