Blasts fell from the sky tearing up whatever they could.
Across the already torn up stadium, more energy beams came showering down, breaking whatever was left. Where Raditz was, each of the fallen heroes, Bulma and Vegeta, further and beyond, nothing was left untouched as the blasts continued to rain down.
When it finally came to a stop, there was no more sound. From deafening blasts that overpowered any scream to complete silence.
Except for the robotic feet, casually walking.
From the ground, Chi-Chi laid, her head moving to the side, a groan escaping her as even little movement caused her head to throb in pain. Her eyes were heavy, and it was like part of the stadium had fallen on her.
She wanted to rest more, but the sound of footsteps was making her panic for some reason. Her mind was too fuzzy to focus on why. So she focused on something simpler—-opening her eyes.
The first thing to enter her vision was a clear blue sky. Out of the corner of her eye though there was something pointy and black. A head of familiar hair...ripped up uniform… blue boots…!
"Goku!" Was the first thing out of her mouth as everything hit her at once. They were hit by an attack Cell sent out. Goku was partially on top of her which must have meant he covered her at the last second, so he would be the one to take most of the hit.
Even with him shielding her, she still received some of the attack. Goku took it head-on and because of that move, he was now unconscious while she stayed stuck underneath him. Why did he have to do that?
Sure she was grateful for it, but it was the wrong move. He was the stronger one out of the two. He should have just saved himself and left her on her own. But that wasn't Goku, was it? He was a stupid man.
Stupid… stupid!
*CLINK* *CLINK* *CLINK*
Footsteps! Right, they were still in trouble! She didn't have time to worry, she needed to focus on what she could do.
Goku was only partially on top of her, but those muscles and the amount he ate wasn't just for show. He was a heavy man. She couldn't do anything with him on top of her. He was out cold.
It made her feel more guilty knowing he used his body to shield her. If only he wasn't such a stupid and honorable man.
The attack had been powerful enough to revert him to his original form. She could only imagine what the attack did to everyone else. Most people were already hurt, Raditz was already badly injured, Bulma was so weak….
Don't think about them.
It was a selfish thought, but her sympathy wasn't going to help anyone right now. She was the only one left right now, and even though she was weak, right now she had to be strong.
So with whatever strength she still had, she rolled Goku onto his back. His eyes were closed, his forehead slightly furrowed, but otherwise, there was a peaceful look across his features. She didn't like what he had to do for it to come down to this, but deep down she was glad he had some time to rest even if it had been beyond his control.
*CLINK* *CLINK* *CLINK*
Finally looking up, she saw him. No tail… bug-like features still… and cold pink eyes. Similar eyes to those other robots Dr. Gero had built. In fact, Cell now looked like a giant version of them.
*CLINK* *CLINK*...
To her surprise, this Cell was less muscular than his previous state. The first state was slimy, the second looked monstrous… this one was…
A chuckle rang out.
"Ah, Lady Anonymous, right?" He said as if he was greeting her for the first time. "I must admit, I am a tad bit disappointed you are my last opponent out of all the fighters. I thought I made sure to only graze with my attack, but it looks like I am still getting used to this power."
He was only a couple of feet away from her, but his power was overwhelming. He was trying to get under her skin. She didn't know why because at this point, she was too scared to be offended. She grabbed her arm to try and get it to stop shaking.
"Still, you should be glad to be able to witness this perfect form," he moved his arm around, getting some of the stiffness out of it. "Had I absorbed 17 or 18 during my first transformation, it might have been more powerful, but now that I've reached this state, it matters not. Because the level of my strength has gone far beyond my first two forms."
She swallowed, what felt like thick sandpaper. She was trying to pay attention to what he was saying since the details might be a clue of finding how to defeat him, but her fear was consuming most of her.
What she really wanted to do was run. It took actual effort on her part, to get her to stay and face a monster she had no chance against. She gritted her teeth.
"...Y-You," she started, somehow finding her voice. Though the fear was evident, she had to continue anyway. "You're a monster! How dare you go through such cowardly methods to make sure you had a fighting chance!"
Her hands were shaking, but the rage was bubbling in her stomach. Goku, Bulma, Krillin, Vegeta, and everyone else who was swept up in this monster's destruction. "Your new-found strength doesn't mean anything because you're still a coward! I doubt you'd still speak with such confidence if any of these fighters were still here and ready to fight!"
She was huffing by the end of her speech. Her clothes were torn up and she had wounds littered across her body. Telling off a giant lizard shouldn't have been her top priority right now, but she couldn't leave this earth without getting something off her chest. If it was up to her, she'd keep going, but she was too scared to see him get really angry.
Instead of hearing any kind of angry response—she was left with silence. He wasn't laughing either, but there was definitely a smirk in place.
"They do say all is fair in love and war, but perhaps you're right. Perhaps my past self was a little too hasty in bringing you all down."
Her forehead creased. It was like Cell was allowing her to seek help, but with everyone unconscious around her, it's not like it was possible. Whatever he was thinking, she wasn't foolish enough to 100% believe in anyway.
He held his hand out, just below his chin to her wonderment. He stood still, a chuckle ringing out, and before she knew it something began to travel through his body. It came up from his throat, and she had to turn around in disgust when a sort of gag came from him.
Gross! What was he thinking? How would regurgitating something out of him be able to help her in any way?
"See, Dr. Gero was a coward, so he always made sure to have some kind of a back-up…. I'm sure you recognize what these are."
Chi-Chi moved her hand from the side of her face and forced herself to look even if she didn't want to. Her eyes widened and her disgust was forgotten even with the bean being slightly coated in saliva.
A senzu bean!
She recognized the bean as being the same one that had been able to revive her and Goku when they both had life-threatening wounds. They were an amazing aid when they were in your hands, but when they were in the hands of your enemy….
What was Cell doing with those anyway? It didn't help that he already had multiple power-ups throughout their fight? Besides, it wasn't like he needed the extra help when he was just going against her.
Her nails stabbed at her skin from how she held her fist. Damn him for forcing her to acknowledge such a pathetic thought.
Wait—but he did say something about giving her a chance, right? Her head lifted. Could he have been thinking of giving her the bean?!
If he did, it was just the upper-hand she needed! She could give it to Goku and he'd be back to full strength giving them the best chance to finally defeat Cell. Then this nightmare would finally be over and she could—
No, what was she thinking? Things weren't going to be that easy if Cell was confident enough to help her out. He was taunting her.
Cell chuckled. She was starting to understand. He held the bean up, her eyes following it like the small bean was godly. Pitiful. "Such a thing would never be needed for someone like me."
Her brows set. "So you're just going to give me the bean?" She asked, suspicion in her voice.
He gave her one final smirk.
"It's yours."
Her eyes widened as he threw the bean, but not to her. It landed somewhere off to the side, not even a little close to her.
Her brows furrowed, but she didn't move for it, unsure of what to think of his actions. She didn't expect him to hand it to her, but he obviously missed her on purpose. Was it for some kind of twisted thrill? Did he want her to get it like a peasant crawling for a scrap of bread?
Was she in a position to complain?
She balled her fist, pushing down the heat of anger flaring throughout her body. She might have been a prideful person, but Goku and everyone's life was on the line. If it took her having to beg for their lives on her hands and knees then she'd do it until her voice was raw and her knees were skinned.
He threw it pretty far though and the more she walked, the tenser the air got around her. From the corner of her eye, so not to make it obvious, she glanced at him, but he stood at his same spot with the same disgusting smirk of his.
Was it just nerves? Or was it that the situation was odd.
Her eyes flickered back only to see… no one.
What-!
She turned to her right—plain dirt, further away, some bodies.
Left—The same thing.
But no sign of Cell. Did he just disappear? Did he change his mind about giving her the senzu bean? Her stomach dropped at the thought. That bean was her only hope. Everyone's only hope. She wasn't going to give it up so easily.
Forgetting the walking, she picked up her speed till she was in a full-on sprint. Her eyes locked on where the bean fell.
"So you caught on?"
The voice was taunting her from somewhere above, and the second she took to look up, a burning white light took up her vision. Before her mind could register what it was, she threw herself away from it, her shoulder scraping against the ground.
Cell lowered a second later, his face scrunched in amusement. "To think you were able to avoid my blast," he said as if he was impressed. His face said otherwise though. "Don't be mistaken, it was a slowed move. Anyone with enough competence would have been able to dodge it, but it shocks me to see even you are included in that list of people."
Her hands gripped at the dirt surrounding her. "Cell!" She screamed in seething anger. "You said the bean was mine! You coward! Is my presence such a threat you have to lie about helping me?"
Cell chuckled at the accusation. His arms were crossed as he lowered himself back onto the ground. "Now calm down, the bean is still yours to have."
"So then why do you still attack me?"
His eyes lowered. "I said the bean was yours, but do you expect me to just stand by and watch?"
Her eyes grew.
Cell chuckled, as her face reflected horror when she realized what she was facing. "It was foolish of you to have thought otherwise. Now crawl for it like the insect you are!"
No!
Her body tensed sensing how urgent she wanted to get up, despite her body in a weak state. Her hands held onto the dirt she had grabbed onto earlier, and she could only throw it, her body too focused on getting away now.
Her breathing was shallow, and her hands were reaching out as she ran, as if she was grabbing onto the air to gain more speed. From behind there was laughter, but it sounded so far away, the beating in her ears louder than anything else.
Somewhere in the back of her mind, she registered that someone had appeared from the side of her, but part of her wanted to ignore it and see if she could outrun it, the other part of her knowing it was impossible to outrun the monster.
She managed a couple more steps, before she had to turn, another blinding light heading her way. It was weirdly beautiful, and even though it came to her at an amazing speed, it was almost slow.
Almost inviting.
If she stood here for just a couple of seconds, all of this madness would be over. She wouldn't have to deal with this monster anymore. She could finally rest.
She'd die.
Goku would die.
Bulma would die.
A bunch of innocent lives would die.
And it wouldn't be quick either. It'd be just like her. Long and drawn out until you got to the point where you'd wish it all end already.
With a burst of energy, pushed through from her revelation, she was throwing herself again. From her back, a razor-sharp feeling cut all across her back. There was a sensation of cold fire, before it went numb until her arms were hitting the ground again, the fall burning into her skin.
Once she was on the ground again, the scrapes were the first thing to hurt, but they almost like nothing when comparing it to the searing pain coming from her back. Her eyes squeezed shut, and then her back twisted from the pain, she had almost forgotten to breathe.
She took one big gasp, and then she was letting out small wheezes of pain. She had been hit. She had almost escaped the blast, but then at the very last second, it had hit some of her back. If she was feeling only a partial part of the attack, she wasn't sure what would have happened to her if she had let the thing fully hit her.
She didn't know where Cell went, or if he was preparing another attack, but she knew she had to get up. The pain from her back and the exhaustion in her body had her planted on the ground though.
Sweat covered her body. To put a stop to her useless whimpering, she shut her mouth, breathing harshly from her nose instead. She had to get up. It wasn't over yet. Not when her chance was right in front of her.
"Ah, maybe that last blast was too much for your human body to handle? Apologies—-I'm still getting accustomed to this power," he taunted, flexing his arm. "I'm not one for overkill though, so what about a handicap? I'll cover my eyes for this shot, and you'll get a five-second countdown."
Chi-Chi's eyes widened at his words, and she pushed herself back up, a cry of pain escaping from her.
"5."
The bean was only a couple of feet away from her.
"4…."
She stood, swaying on her feet, but dug into the ground to stable herself. Move. She had to move!
"...3."
She pushed the pain to the back of her mind, locking her eyes on the innocent bean just laying on the ground. She was so close. Even if doom was tapping on her shoulder, she was going to get to the bean.
"...2…."
She stumbled to the side, but forced her body to stay running, only her breathing reaching her ears now. The bean was so close now.
The time was faster though.
She wasn't going to make it unless she—-she took her last step, the momentum of her running helping her to launch herself into the air. Her hand extended.
"1"
Her body was airborne one second, shoving forward despite not wanting to, and then she hit the ground with a loud crunch. Her body immediately went limp, and her eyes closed.
There was no pain—-there was no feeling. She was letting out something like a groan, but it was involuntary. Somewhere in the back of her mind, she knew this wasn't right. The ringing in her ear wasn't right either but surprisingly wasn't the pressing matter at the moment.
What was?
The darkness was so nice. She was finally resting, and even if she wanted to do something, she couldn't. Doing something as easy as lifting her arm right now was going to be a challenge, so how could she expect to be able to 'do' something right now?
Her mind was fighting though. So was her body. Both of them going against each other, wanting the same thing.
Slowly, she started with her eyes, fluttering them open. Her vision was blurred, but she could tell there was dirt covering her from head to toe. She coughed, shaking some of it off of her.
Right… she was running to get to something. Something that was going to help her feel less pain. Someone was talking, but the ringing in her ear was still there, so most of it was blocked out. Less pain.
Her body was aching, so something to help her feel less pain would be great right now. What was it though? Where was Goku?
Goku.
Goku was hurt. Like her. Except she was awake. Why wasn't he?
Like fog had cleared her mind, she was jolted back to reality once everything came back rushing to her. She moved to jump up, but let out a shout instead, as the pain whipped at her. Her head turned, trying not to squirm as it passed through her.
Looks like moving was not an option for her right now. Cell must have hit her when she was going for the senzu bean… the bean!
Wanting to move again, she forced herself to stop, one eye closing as only a small shot of pain went through her instead of the waves she had experienced before. She couldn't even move. Things were looking even worse than before.
Without moving much of her body, she looked down at her hand which was balled into a fist. Her heart raced until she opened her hand revealing something small and green.
The bean!
She wanted to cry out in happiness but settled for a second of closing her eyes and relishing in a moment where something went right for once.
She had the bean.
Such a stupid, wonderful, little bean. A bean that stood as the only thing to give her hope.
A bean that needed to get to Goku immediately.
There was only a small obstacle standing in her way now….
Moving.
She had to move to get this bean to Goku. And she thought the hardest part had been over.
How could she manage to get the bean to him? At the moment her body was useless. Ironically, if she ate the bean, she'd have no problem, but then she'd have no bean to give Goku, and she'd be back to square one reliving the same nightmare once more.
She had to move though. What if she just ate half of it? Would it still heal her, even if it was just a little? What if she risked rendering the bean useless though? Or what if she gave the other half to Goku and it didn't heal him enough to be back to a good condition?
Could she risk all of that?
If it was her only option—she had no choice but to.
She lifted her hand quickly, the pain shooting at her from across her arm as she did so. Bringing the bean to her mouth, she bit into it, trying her hardest to leave most of the potion to Goku. Crushing it in her mouth, she wasn't sure when it was going to take effect considering she was out the last time she took this, but if it was able to heal her completely after being impaled then even a little bit of it should be able to….
She gulped.
"Ugh!" She gasped, sitting up instinctively, and then bracing for pain that never came. Shocked, she lifted her arm with ease, despite for the last hour being in a state where such a simple task wasn't as easy. She felt great!
Standing up, she was light like a feather again. Even such a tiny bite had been able to… she tucked the bean somewhere safe, knowing she had to get this to Goku no matter what.
"Taken the bean for yourself, have you?" Cell said. "Not the smartest move, but at this point—-anything you do is pointless."
Chi-Chi didn't bother to respond, taking off to where Goku was. He was the same where she left him—clothes ripped, injuries littering his body, and sleeping almost blissfully, save for the one crinkle in his brow. Even while passed out she was sure he could still feel the pain his body had been put through.
"Yes! Keep running! Beg up until the life leaves your eyes!"
Her body no longer dealing with the burden of such heavy injuries, it was back to focusing on the things around her. She sensed a ki blast heading towards her, even without having to see it. She could have moved from either side of her, but she'd still get hit, if only barely.
So with her right and left side not being an option, she went upwards. Leaping up into the air, she stayed there while the blast went past her, missing her completely. It took her hovering in the air for a couple of seconds to realize, she was now able to fly again, thanks to her energy returning to her.
It was just the speed boost she needed. Building up some of her energy, she blasted towards Goku, going as fast as she could. Before she knew it, she was already landing at his side.
"Goku!" She shouted, even though she knew he couldn't hear her. Her hands were shaking as she supported his head with one of her arms while the other one moved the bean into his mouth.
She helped him out a little, closing his mouth until he was chewing the bean on his own. A smile came to her face, seeing him work it out on his own. "That's right, Goku! Keep chewing. You'll feel better in just a second," she encouraged, stroking his cheek.
"Mhmm…" He mumbled out as he continued to chew.
His eyes struggled to open now. The small gesture sent a blossom of happiness across her heart. He was going to wake up! He was finally going to-!
His eyes broke open, and Chi-Chi barely managed to move back, before he stood up with such quickness that would have knocked into her had she stayed in the same spot. He had let out a gasp, holding onto his shirt, trying to grasp everything around him at once.
"Goku!" She called out, both in excitement, and to get him to calm down and understand.
"Chi-Chi!" He returned, his eyes wide in confusion.
He had that silly face he always made when he was confused. She couldn't hold back any longer, throwing herself to him. "Goku!"
He caught her, surprised by her sudden hug. His hand went to her back when he felt her shaking. "Hey…" He gently started, still trying to catch up. "What's wrong?"
If it was up to Chi-Chi she'd just stay in his arms, a blubbering mess, telling him everything that had happened, and how scared she had been without him by her side, but they weren't safe yet. Everyone they loved was still unconscious and on the ground beside them.
So with whatever mental strength she had left, she pulled herself away from him, ripping the tears away from her face, her brows setting into a more serious look. "I wish I had time to explain, but there isn't any left. What's the last thing you remember?"
"But why are you cr-"
"Goku, focus!" She commanded.
"But-"
"What's the last thing you remember!"
The sense of urgency finally clicked with him. "The last thing? Er, I think I was fighting… no I was fighting. Uhh, who was it again? Maybe my brother… no there was a tournament involved…. Tournament?!"
His head lifted. "That's right! There was Dr. Gero and Cell!" Then his eyes widened even more. "Cell!"
"How lovely—an invitation."
"Watch out!" Goku exclaimed, grabbing Chi-Chi and flying them both away from the attack aimed at them.
Chi-Chi could only hold onto him as he flew them at a speed faster than she'd ever been able to achieve. His reactions were as quick as usual as well.
Goku was just what was needed to change the tides. He had the power, but they've already gone against Cell and it still wasn't enough. They now had a second chance in this fight, and this time it was going to be different.
They needed a plan.
"Goku," she called out to him. He kept his eyes trained to where Cell was, but she knew she had his attention. "We need to hide for now. Find somewhere to hide."
"What?" He asked, avoiding another attack coming for them. "Are you hurt or something? I can drop you off, but I need to-"
"You need to find us a place to hide," she repeated to him, moving back her hair blowing around. "We've already fought him once before, and unless you want to end up with the same results…"
He finally looked at her, her eyes never wavering.
He nodded. "Fine, but I don't think he's going to let up anytime soon."
"So psych him out somehow," she suggested, "I've seen you do the same thing with Raditz before, so I know you can do it."
"Raditz wasn't out to kill me," he told her.
She lifted a brow. "Are you sure about that?"
He paused, thinking back to every horrible injury he got from training that had to be healed up by a senzu bean. "Okay, I'll do it."
Well, he wasn't really sure how to run from a fight, but he sure knew how to create a distraction of sorts. He skidded to a stop, no longer running away, but instead facing the direction Cell was chasing them from.
Chi-Chi hit her chin on his shoulder from the sudden stop. "Goku!" She angrily screeched. "This is the opposite of what I asked!"
Cell was only a distance away from them, and he was already charging up his other attack, sending Chi-Chi to a mild panic attack. She slapped Goku's shoulder trying to get him to move. "Do senzu beans not heal head injuries? He's going to attack us!"
"Trust me," he simply grunted out after a particularly hard slap from her. She should have just slapped Cell if she wanted to end this fight. Her hand was heavy.
The attack came, and the two braced themselves. Goku brought his two hands to his side, a blue ki ball forming. "Kame-hame-HA!"
The two blasts met each other head-on, and Chi-Chi had to grip on Goku's shirt while shielding her eyes with her other hand, as the fierce air, from the two attacks colliding, released.
"Hold on to me, Chi-Chi!" Goku called out, heading out as the attacks blasted apart, releasing a cloud of smoke in its wake.
In some leftover ruins from the colosseum, Goku let Chi-Chi down. "I don't think it'll take long for him to find us, so you should probably make this quick."
Chi-Chi nodded, getting down to business. "Cell's transformation is everything he said it was and more. He's practically perfect and treating us like mice at this point."
Goku's brows furrowed. "What are you saying? That he's impossible to beat? You want me to accept th-mph-!" He was forced to come to a stop as Chi-Chi covered his mouth with both of her hands.
The silence allowed for the sound of distant flying to be heard.
"So you only ate part of the bean. I have to say, even I didn't see that coming, but bringing little Goku back is just prolonging your doom just a bit. Now, why don't the two of you come out of hiding, and we can finally get this over with?"
Chi-Chi held her breath until the flying went past them. "I'm not saying that either. I just don't want us heading in blindly when this might be our last chance. We need a plan."
Goku's brows raised, before his features set, a half-grin reaching his face. "That, I can get behind, and from the sound of it, you already have something figured out."
Chi-Chi found herself smiling, despite the grim situation. Leave it to Goku to turn a life or death situation into a simple game. "Something like that. More of a design flaw I noticed than a plan."
"I can work with that."
"Believe it or not, Cell was the one who gave me the Senzu bean that healed both of us up. It wasn't out of the kindness of his heart though I can assure you that," she told him. "He's gotten cocky thanks to his transformation. And we've seen what cockiness has done to enemies from the past."
Goku nodded. "Uh-huh..."
She turned to him. "So I'm saying, he hasn't been shy about holding back any kind of weaknesses because, in his mind, he doesn't believe he has any. During our fight, I noticed a couple of things," she said, "He was able to get the bean by regurgitating it from inside him."
Goku's face turned a little green. "Ew gross! You made me eat something like that?"
"Goku…" Chi-Chi groaned as he continued to let out gagging noises. She ignored him, for the sake of time. "I'm trying to tell you that maybe his stomach doesn't work like ours. Maybe if we aim for his stomach, it'll cause his power to regress. 19 was absorbed, but maybe Dr. Gero is still…."
Goku's brows snapped together. "You're telling me you think if we punch him in the stomach hard enough that he'll spit out Dr. Gero…?"
Her cheeks reddened. "I didn't say it was the best plan!" She defended. "...Besides, I mean continuously punch him there."
"Chi-Chi!"
"I don't hear you coming up with any ideas!"
"I just wanted to fight him!"
"That's the same thing as punching him repeatedly! Just aim for the stomach this time!"
Goku closed his mouth but didn't look too convinced over her idea. Not one to argue in the middle of battle, he nodded anyway. "Okay punch him in the stomach then? Should be easy enough to remember."
Chi-Chi put a hand to his shoulder to keep him from running off. "Hold on, one more thing I want to discuss," she told him. "How do you feel?"
"Feel?" Goku blinked. "Well a lot better than before I can tell you that much."
"Enough to transform?" Chi-Chi questioned, her eyes steady.
Goku looked back at her, his brows creased. "I'm not even sure we want to chance another transformation-"
"Goku-"
"But even if I could," he interrupted. "I don't think the bean healed me up all the way."
Chi-Chi bit her lip, not liking the news one bit. "I was afraid of that. I wanted to give you the full bean if I could…. Dammit."
"Hey, c'mon don't worry about it. We'll defeat him this time."
"How? Not only is he much stronger this time, but we're also a lot weaker, and have no one to back us up this time. Maybe if it was you and Vegeta, or Raditz, but it's just me this time, Goku."
"Don't start doubting yourself now Chi-Chi. You were able to handle yourself while everyone else was down, that has to mean something to you, right?" He smiled, before looking away. "It's not always just about strength."
She smiled back. "Go-"
"Found you."
The two snapped up to see Cell hovering right on top of them with a ball of energy forming in his hands. Goku's hands went up, and Chi-Chi knew he wanted to attack, so she flew back, giving him the chance to match Cell's attack.
With the two engaged in a fight between ki moves, she was able to take the time to quickly scope their situation. The bean had healed her enough to start flying, but how long was it going to last? It wouldn't be good for her to depend on it, but she also couldn't just forget about it. She'd just have to use it at the right moments.
With Cell open and distracted—this was one of those moments.
Goku's last attack went past Cell as he dodged it. Chi-Chi took that opportunity to go in, aiming an attack using her fist, and although Cell's eyes widened in surprise his reflexes were sharp, so he was able to block her before she made contact.
She was blindly fighting against a superpowered being with her fist though so she wasn't going to give up anytime soon. Pulling her leg back, she kicked, but her foot was easily caught by his hand. A glow from beneath her began, and she knew she was in trouble.
"Chi-Chi!"
Before she could blink, Goku was in between them sending her back, but with his mind probably only thinking of saving her, he took the attack full-on, sending him straight to the ground.
A loud laugh echoed in the air. "You fools. You've seen the power I've gained, and you've chosen now to become a mess? Please don't make it that easy for me. Do I need to sever an arm to make it challenging?"
Chi-Chi gritted her teeth as he continued to laugh. As much as she hated it, he was right. She flew back down to Goku who was groaning on the floor from the last hit he took from Cell.
She placed a hand on his shoulder as he sat up. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah I think so," he replied, holding onto his stomach.
She slapped his shoulder. "Then what the hell is wrong with you!"
"Wha-?"
"Why did you take the attack, you idiot?" She screamed as he sat, taken aback by her displeasure. "I was prepared for the hit! You can't keep worrying about me, Goku! Can't you see that's what screwed you up the first time?"
"But I-"
"No Goku! Forget your feelings about me! If you don't give 100 percent of your focus to Cell and let me be the bait for him, then this isn't going to work!" She didn't want to yell at him, but she also needed him to understand the importance of this.
"But Chi-Chi I said I was going to protect you. I can do both things at once," he stated, his eyes shining with determination.
Chi-Chi's features softened. She placed both her hands gently on his shoulders, "Goku, if we want to win this fight you'll have to trust me. Like you said, I've made it this far by myself, right? Please just trust I'll be able to save myself."
For once, Goku didn't look unhappy by her request but instead looked focused. His brows were set in a frown, and his eyes were dark, but there was a conflict behind them.
"Time's up again!"
A blast went in the middle of the two forcing them to separate once more. Chi-Chi briefly caught Goku's eye, and he sent her a slight nod, before going up in the air. That was all the signal she needed to know Goku was trusting her.
Flying back up the air herself, she and Goku were now across from each other with Cell being in the middle between the two. Now that she got Goku to agree to her terms, it was time to prove herself.
So she went to strike first, going to Cell, with no trace of fear in her heart. She sent a fury of attacks to him, but like nothing, he was able to dodge them. She aimed for his stomach, hoping for a lucky strike, but Cell twisted around sending a roundhouse kick to her.
She hit the ground, a dent forming around her from the force of the hit. A roar from Goku told her he had continued where she left off. Sitting up, she held onto her stomach, choosing to stay still for a moment to recover a little from such a hard hit.
Up above, Goku was fighting Cell a lot more fiercer than he had before. She wiped her mouth with her arm revealing a small smile. This was what she was expecting from Goku. The more she got hurt from Cell, the angrier he was getting.
It was a dangerous tactic. But if she played it right, she'd not only motivate Goku but hopefully, she'd also leave an opening for him to defeat Cell once and for all. It wasn't a job she wanted to take one, but if it took her breaking every bone in her body for everyone else to live then she'd do it.
She stood up, shutting one eye as the pain hit her like a whip. This wasn't going to be easy. Taking a deep breath, she once again took off to the air. This time, she went towards Cell back hoping to get him off guard while he fought Goku in the front.
"Haa! YAH!" She punched, but his body wasn't there and instead, hers and Goku's arms passed each other. "Huh?!"
Her arm was grabbed in the air, and then she was plummeting to the ground with Cell leading the way.
"Give up! You two stand no chance against me!"
She gritted her teeth, using the opportunity to send a kick straight to Cell's stomach which she managed to hit, freeing her hand as he doubled over. She was both shocked and happy she was able to hit him, but the feeling was short-lived when Cell turned to her, face twisted in anger.
Her eyes widened, but before she could do anything, his arm struck her sending her flying once more.
"Chi-Chi!" Goku shouted as she hit a broken building, almost destroying it completely from force alone.
She fell to the ground, an arm steadying her from falling, and her hair covering her face. She had lost her breath, and even as she struggled to breathe, she managed to open her mouth to shout, "No! Ke-ep fighting…!" She wheezed out.
Goku clenched his teeth, almost breaking them. His fists were in front of him shaking from how tightly he held them. He wanted to go to Chi-Chi, but she made it clear where their priority needed to be first.
There was a chuckle coming from across him, as Cell lowered himself to his level. "It wasn't enough, I slaughtered most of your family and tried to kill the remaining one on top of your friends, but your woman as well?" Cell taunted with a smirk. "Do I have to kill the poor girl for you to actually do something?"
Goku stayed deadly silent, his eyes never leaving Cells. This was the first time he had pure hate for someone, but he knew better than to let his enemy think he had a hold on him. He had to keep his cool. Fighting wasn't just physical.
"Stomach still hurting you?" Goku returned, spotting Cell's hand resting on the spot Chi-Chi had hit him in.
Cell let out an angry sound of annoyance. "See if you still make jokes when you're dead at my feet!"
Goku dodged the hits coming at him, knowing he had hit a soft spot for Cell. That meant his stomach was hurting him. Maybe Chi-Chi was right about his stomach being a weakness of his. If that was the case, he needed to find his opening.
Chi-Chi coughed, as rubble fell off from her while she turned to the side. Just from that kick alone, her whole body was in pain once more, but after all the hits she received today, it was numb at this point. She stood up despite her shaky legs.
She wasn't going to stop until her whole body refused to listen to her, and even then, she'd crawl using her teeth if she had to. They've all risked too much to just give up here.
Goku was fighting more fiercely against Cell compared to before. Which meant using herself as bait worked. Not a great position for her to be in, but she flew back up to them even if she flew a little slower than usual.
Cell went to punch Goku, but he dodged, returning the punch instead to the annoyance of Cell. He was becoming more troublesome to deal with even without his transformation.
He brought a hand behind him, "Don't get ahead of yourself, boy." There was a satisfying crunch from his nose, and it only got better to see him crash into the ground, crumpled up like trash. He was going to learn how to-
"Hiya!"
He moved, a fist passing him from the side. They were like cockroaches getting back up each time. He moved side to side avoiding everything the girl threw at him. He was going to have to teach them an even worse listen if he didn't want them to get back up anymore.
"Ah!"
Cell roughly grabbed her arm, bringing her forcibly in the air with him, to gain some momentum. She struggled to try and take her arm back, but his grip was steely. He grinned as her eyes widened in horror, finally realizing her position.
"Let me go!" She desperately cried out.
"I don't think you want to be letting out, ORDERS!" He chucked her in the air like she was a baseball. Flying back towards her, he flew past her stopping till he was ahead, and sending a kick to her back.
Her body must have been failing to respond to her now because he easily caught up to her the second time. He sent one final kick to finish her off, her body hitting the ground and creating a hole deeper than any of the previous ones. She wasn't going to be getting back up anytime so-
"CELL!"
"Huh-? Ugh-!"
Goku hit Cell straight in the stomach with a fury so great, but it didn't do enough to quench his anger. Using Cell's momentary frozen state, Goku delivered more and quick punches, desperate like he wasn't going to have another opportunity.
They both lowered to the ground as Goku continued his assault, treating him like his personal punching bag. Each punch he thought of Chi-Chi. Another hit to Cell was for his parents. The next one, for his brother who was caught off guard and almost killed. One, for his friends who were hurt and tortured by this monster. And a final one for everything he thought he deserved and more.
"Ha!"
Cell stayed hunched and shaking while his mouth hung open. "H-Hu...gh! U-Uh...gh...!" Saliva dripped from his mouth as he struggled to even breathe.
Goku stayed, not taking pleasure in this, but knowing it was something he deserved done to him. He didn't have time to continue and watch Cell struggling though. He had to check on Chi-Chi.
He took to the air until he spotted her fallen figure. Running, he went to her side. Her face was scrunched up in pain, but she still looked conscious. He carefully placed an arm around her, helping her to sit up, and cringing when he heard her groan.
"Don't force yourself," he told her, as she fought to open her eyes. Despite his demand though he was staring into brown eyes once more, her hand going to grip the front of his shirt.
"Where is he?"
"I left him back there. I wanted to come to you first," he told her the truth despite knowing he was about to get an earful from her. They both knew he should have continued the fight, but Goku's first priority was making sure she was okay.
"Go back," she told him like he predicted, but just as he was opening his mouth to reply, she continued, "And take me with you. We have to defeat him."
He wanted to argue against her, but his words weren't going to get him anywhere because to her, it was her duty just as much as it was his. They were going to have to finish this fight together.
He gave her a small nod. "Fine."
The closer they reached, the choking and retching got louder. Cell was in a similar state Goku had left him in, but now he was on his knees, holding on to his stomach, while he sweated almost unnaturally.
"What's happening to him?" Chi-Chi asked in disgust.
"I… don't know…" Goku replied, unable to turn from the horror show. His lasting reaction wasn't something out of the norm. Even with the number of punches Goku had got in, he should have recovered by now.
"Ergh...W-What… is this?!" Cell struggled to get out as he continued to heave. His nails, carved into the dirt, and he tried to suppress it but began to gag. "H-ghh… Ugh!"
Chi-Chi covered her mouth, her stomach churning at the sight. It was repulsive to watch, but it looked like something was happening to Cell. She got out of Goku's hold, standing on her feet to prepare for anything that might come.
"Hurp…!" Cell let out, covering his mouth with one hand, but there was no suppressing it anymore. He jerked forward his stomach emptying purple liquid by the gallons.
Chi-Chi squeezed her eyes shut, holding onto Goku's shoulder and turning her head away from the scene. That was not something you wanted to see from an enemy. This wasn't the time for luxury though.
"So you hit him in the stomach?" Chi-Chi questioned, as Cell continued to throw up.
Goku nodded. "Looks like you were right about that spot being a weakness."
"I don't see a body though," Chi-Chi pointed out. Maybe they had to try again? Though from the looks of everything Cell was emptying out—-it didn't look like he had anything left.
Cell slowly came to a stop, his body shaking, and his mouth dripping with purple liquid. His face twisted as he shouted, "No! Why does my body feel so weak now! I….I…!"
Chi-Chi gasped, her eyes blinking to make sure she was seeing right. Purple smoke rose from Cell's body as his skin began to darken, and orange began to appear.
"Ahhh!" Cell shouted, looking back as his tail returned to him. "N-No! Why am I reverting back to my previous form? This can't be happening! Why would I-!" His eyes widened in realization just as another wave of pain hit him.
"Uh... ARGH!" He shouted as his form shrank, his head becoming more horn-like, and his wings growing back on him, as well as his orange beak. He stayed on the ground heavily breathing as he finally finished, before pounding at the ground with a loud shriek.
"Nooooo! This is that damn doctor's fault! I know it!" He shouted in rage. "This was your back-up in case you were the one eaten instead wasn't it, you coward!"
His eye slits turned to the side. "No! It isn't over, yet! Those twins are still here! I have to-!"
"I don't think so."
Goku lowered himself in front of Cell, stopping him from leaving.
Cell's eyes narrowed. "You dare to get in my way! I've let you live! You are trash! Even in this form, I can still-!"
"It's over Cell!" Goku shouted. "You're not leaving anywhere on my watch."
Cell gritted his teeth. It was still too soon to give up!
Chi-Chi opened her arms, standing in the way on the other side to the surprise of both Cell and Goku. Her hair was a mess and it was like she had died and been resurrected multiple times today, but this was the last time. Everything was going to end here.
Her arms and legs were shaking, and she was sure she looked like a wounded animal, but she still bared her teeth. "You're... not... leaving."
Cell looked at her and then back to Goku. His tail swinging back and forth before coming to a stop. He continued to run towards Chi-Chi's direction choosing to take his chances.
"Damn!" Goku cursed, running after him.
Meanwhile, Chi-Chi took a deep breath, preparing herself for a fight. Her body was against the idea, but they were too close for her to give up here.
She closed her eyes, calming herself down. This wasn't the same Cell she's been up against. He's weakened a lot more, and if she was able to handle him before, then right now should be the easy part.
"Don't think you can stop me now!"
She opened her eyes, dodging the first hit coming for her. He moved a lot slower than before. Using her palm, she struck upwards, hitting his chin, before striking at his chest.
"Ugh!"
A rush of victory coursed through her after finally doing some damage, but it was cut short when she received a kick to her leg, knocking her down. She fell onto her hands, rotating herself to take a swipe at his legs bringing him down herself.
With him flat on the ground, she was faced with that wretched tail that had caused so many problems and misery. It was the same thing that had killed Goku's parents and grandfather.
"Ahh!" Cell shrieked after she grabbed a hold of his tail.
Dragging him across the ground with an effort she didn't have, she slowly began to spin him in the air, as he could only spread his arms and feet, and nothing else.
"Get… him...GoKU!" Using all her strength, she let go of him towards the direction Goku was coming in.
Goku almost smirked at how easily Chi-Chi was able to accomplish that even with the condition her body was in. With Cell flying towards him in horror, it was up to him to finish this fight. He brought his hands back.
"Kame…. Hame…. HAAAAAA!"
"No! NO! NOOOO!"
"AHHHHH!"
Goku fell to the floor as soon as his attack dispersed. He was breathing heavily after finishing the last bit of energy he had in him.
Across from him, Chi-Chi's shaky legs finally gave out on her causing her to fall forward with a groan, and her hands laid out on each side of her. Her breathing had evened out telling him she had knocked out.
He gave a small chuckle, as his head hit the floor. His eyes closed, and he let the darkness take over him as well.
It was over.
