Chapter 3: Wishing Well

Greetings #Dragonball fans, and welcome to Part 3 of What If: Kami had Kids, where the Guardian of Earth first watched as Goku almost killed him, via a hole in The Demon King Piccolo's chest and then had his offer of god-hood rejected a few years later. Out of viable options, he took a page from his evil half's play book and started his own little colony of Namekians.

#DragonballZ #WhatIf #Kami #Piccolo

First the warrior clan brothers of Wind and Thunder, Fujin and Raijin, then after recovering from that near fatal exertion, in much more measured succession. Ryujin and Suijin, the Dragon and the Sea take after their father more directly, as members of the slower growing Dragon Clan.

When the warrior brothers finally ventured forth to attend the gathering at Kame house, to meet that legendary pupil that got away, their introductions were cut short by the arrival of said pupil's long lost space brother.

After meeting Piccolo, their brother by another mother? Father? Um, Sibling from another source maybe? they defeated Goku's own sibling, Raditz, and then took it upon themselves to train the child of the man Kami just could not shut up about. Eventually roping the enigmatic and dark soul-ed Piccolo in to aid them, they did what they could for Gohan and the Z-Fighters.

After Goku's return and still barely beating the Saiyan Prince, Vegeta, they head to Namek, their ancient home world, hoping to revive their fallen comrade, Chiaotzu, who cannot be brought back again with Earth's Dragon Balls.

Once on Namek, they met Moori and co and as they were about to move on to their 3rd ball when they reached out to sense who they thought was Vegeta, somehow back in action so quickly after being defeated back on Earth. Instead of the Prince, their senses were assailed by the unbridled evil that is Lord Frieza.

Their scramble to come up with a plan that doesn't end in certain doom, leads them to Elder Guru. He offers an olive branch to Piccolo's now cracked shell in the form of some 1300 Namekian years of Guru's own memories of the Namekian people as they should be, as they have been since Guru hatched. While hesitant, the promise of knowledge surely helped.

With Krillin, the stowaway, Gohan and the trio-de-vert, Raijin, Fujin and finally, after recovering from the memory overload, Piccolo's potentials all unlocked by the ailing Guru, they run off to intercept the approaching Zarbon and Dodoria. After some discussion, they lay a trap, of a sort, for Frieza, by luring him to the other side of the planet. This gave them the chance to steal the few balls the emperor had managed to collect by this point.

Enter the Dragon

A few days pass as the various groups trickle in with their various balls. The 3 from Frieza's ship, Guru's and then that last, uncollected one. Finally, with the return of those 2 tired and weary warriors, they have all 7 and wasting no time, the sky darkens as Porunga is summoned.

They quickly wish for Chiaotzu to be restored to life, and then dither about what to wish for next. They try to wish for Frieza and his men to be removed from Namek but Porunga is very sorry, he can't do that. Frieza is much too powerful, and um, hold on.

Does this mean that Frieza would now be aware that he's been duped? When they wished for Goku to be returned to Earth, Porunga couldn't do it because Goku didn't want to? Does that imply that Goku knew they'd tried to wish him back and he had consciously refused or had the dragon read Goku's mind, or intentions at least, and seen that he didn't want to? The reading of intent may go a long way to explain why Porunga could not move Goku, a piddly grade 1 Super Saiyan, when Shenron easily moved the overly mighty Broly, whose base form hand-wavidly exceeds even the gods. Broly likely just wanted to go home, so an easy wish to grant.

So let's go with Frieza remaining unaware of the exact nature of the request, being too strong to move anyway, and clearly wanting to get to where he's going. Maybe an odd sensation, pulling him away? Given the wording of the wish, however, the rest of the Frieza Force is also NOT whisked away. Frieza AND his men, wasn't it? If you can't do it all, then do nothing, I guess.

Prince's Penance

The Dragon, or at least the sky, has not gone totally unnoticed however. Prince Vegeta arrived a few days ago and has been increasingly frustrated to learn that someone else already has first this then that village's ball. His fight with Cui went unnoticed by anyone who matters as Zarbon and Dodoria are still down for the count and Frieza was rushing off with what remained of his best men to gather those 3 balls that Zarbon had located, after a fashion.

Now seeing the sky change and hearing this villagers' excited chatter about the dragon, Vegeta flies off in the direction they are all looking to investigate. He comes across the small gathering at Moori's village. Still unaccustomed to sensing power, he charges in and makes his desires known.

How kind of them to not only gather the balls for him, but to have the Dragon there, ready and obviously waiting for his wish. Maybe he'll, he'll, what? Wait, what are there Earthlings doing here? And, why is the hair on his neck standing on end? He holds up his hand and stares at it. It is quivering with, what? It's that same feeling he has when he imagines facing Frieza, both thrilling and dread all twisted together.

Then it clicks. He's sensing their power. Not the individuals either, the combination of it all. He can barely sense his own, given the overwhelming pressure around him. How? How many push ups have they done? How much juice have they all drunk? HOW? There's no way those 3 Namekians were this strong back on Earth. And the humans too? Even the hybrid brat is, is, well, no. Zenkais are a Saiyan thing, so that could make sense. Do both humans AND Namekians get them as well? He's never heard of another race that could grow so quickly.

The others have been standing there staring at him after he stopped shouting, to process all this internally, mouth still slightly agape.

Is, is he broken? Hello? Vegeta? Earth, err, Namek to Vegeta?

He is finally brought out of it by the sense of something else entering the system. 5 somethings, or someones The rest of them all turn to look up as well, all sensing the approaching Ginyu pods. Hmm, not much of a threat.

Before Frieza left on his merry little goose chase, seeing that Dodoria had dropped off the radar and that Zarbon was somehow, inexplicably outclassed, so completely, he had put in a call back to base. The Ginyu force is about to arrive and Goku is still at least 2 days away, if my arithmetic is remotely accurate.

Indecision

Now snapped out of his fugue, Vegeta starts to almost beg for their help. Not just the Ginyu force, but Frieza as well. They, oh, they are already aware of Frieza and are working on it. Vegeta, who, rather amusingly is beaten out by only Dende and Moori for position of the weakest person here at the moment, is brought up to speed. Frieza is off chasing his tail. They have the Dragon, gazing down at them in increasing irritation, waiting for their next wish.

They've tried to wish Frieza away but that didn't work. Nor can their Dragon grant a death wish. Vegeta, of course, says that they just need to wish for him to be Immortal. That's why he came to Earth. To finally be able to defeat the tyrant that ruled not only those precious few Saiyans, but most of the known Galaxies.

Do they even entertain the idea? What would this man do after? No, Fujin steps forward with an idea. It's not brilliant but, if they can't kill Frieza, could they instead just, kinda, leave? Could they wish everyone one on Namek who isn't part of the Frieza Force, to, I don't know, Earth maybe? Then figure things out from there?

Piccolo and Moori share a glance though. This is their home. surely something else can be done?

If only Kami were here. If Piccolo could merge with him, he would once again be that Super Namekian of old. And not even a Super Dragon Clan Namekian, but a Warrior, built for combat in every way. Surely that could defeat Frieza! Krillin is the one to burst that bubble saying that it would nullify Earth's Dragon Balls, wouldn't it?

Well whatever they do they need to hurry. Piccolo is well aware of Guru's failing health and Frieza is surely about to discover the ruse. Not wanting their father to sacrifice himself, the brothers, Fujin and Raijin share a glance, then ask about this fusion thing. If Kami and Piccolo combining is strong, what would happen if they did it instead?

Gohan looks on, crying a bit as 2 of his 3 teachers grasp arms for a moment, then break out the rock paper scissors to decide who stays in control. Best out of 3? Sure why not. They match again and again though until Vegeta, in exasperation just yells at them to get on with it already. Seeing his brother's distraction, Fujin does his last paper a moment later, and loses this last, deciding round.

The fusion here of 2 Namekian brothers, each with their potentials unlocked and a ballpark power level of roughly 250k is surely a sight to see. If you're wondering where I plucked that from, they were roughly 4k2 when they arrived, then a native Namekian unlock for the child of a Super Namekian. All very conducive to being over powered.

As for the fusion, the general formula for this is A plus B multiplied by anywhere from 10 to 50 depending on who is involved, so since these are brothers who have trained together for their entire, if somewhat short life, I'm going to give them more than the basic 10 but also since they are not of one soul, less than the 50 times that Piccolo and Kami would probably obtain. At say 20 times, their final power level would be 10m. Plenty for what they want to accomplish in the current landscape.

Any scouters still on the planet are now toast and Vegeta, while still no expert at sensing power levels can only crawl away a bit, sensing the power emanating from this new, if slightly melancholy version of Raijin. He stands there for a moment, nods to Piccolo, ruffles the equally sad looking Gohan's hair a bit and blasts off, heading directly towards 1st form Frieza.

This is not a drawn out fight by any means though and it quickly devolves into Frieza trying desperately to get a moment to transform. He manages his second form while buried under a mountain, but when he erupts from the rock pile, he is promptly met with a special beam cannon to the face. A special shout out to his body's momentum though as the beam continues to slice through his neck, torso, waist and well, all of it. He is as usual, cut in half, but this time along entirely the wrong axis. I'm sure Future Trunks would approve.

Recouping Losses

The Ginyu force still arrives though and are faced with a problem. Firstly their lord and master Frieza, is no more. Instead they are met by a group, led by a very mean looking super Namekian who tells them to leave or be destroyed.

Burter quickly discovers that power levels do in fact affect movement speed and is promptly blasted away. Guldo tries his time cage thing but when he relaxes to take a breath, the behemoth that is Raijin, wipes him away as well. Piccolo does manage to save his brother though from Ginyu's body swap, when the captain finally gets around to checking the man's actual power level. The beam carries on and hits Recoome, who had thought to catch the guy in a crossfire.

By this time, the Earth Dragon Balls have been gathered and all the Namekians killed by Frieza and his men are wished back to life. With the threat over, Porunga impatiently asks, or demands rather that they make their last wish already. Existing in this physical realm is not exactly fun, you know.

With no need to wish anyone to Earth, Raijin wishes to be separated from his brother, but Porunga says that he cannot do that. If they could just wish themselves apart, why would fusion be forbidden in the first place? No, sorry, can't do it.

Gohan then wished to know what are any ways that they can be separated. Well, Porunga says, They could fake it. They were virtually identical anyway so using multi-form might work. They might try asking the other dragons. And finally, it wont be easy to learn but on a planet called Yardrat, there exists a people with the abilities you seek! Good luck finding it though!

After Porunga peaces out. the beaten and bound Jeice hears them discussing Yardrat and raises his hand. Um, well, he might know where Yardrat is. If they let him go, he'll help them find it!

As they make plans to leave, Goku finally arrives on the planet to find that he is really not needed. The Namekians had wrapped things up nicely, including that Frieza guy. On the plus side, his ship will come in handy. They need to find this Yardrat place for Raijin to separate himself from his brother, so, wanna come with?

Before they leave though, Nail has a request to relay from Guru. The ancient one has spent a long time on this world and if they are leaving, he would like to go with them. Not as himself though as his hour draws near. Since this fusion thing seems so useful, and since he has already shared his memories, perhaps he could offer something a little more substantial. With Moori on hand to take over as the Guardian of Namek, mere moments before his passing, Guru fuses with Piccolo.

They then board the Capsule ship, leaving the fully functional Namekian one behind for them to explore. They do, of course, drag Vegeta along for the ride. The prince isn't pleased with this but frankly, he's in no position to argue. He has missed out on every Zenkai since recovering from his battle on Earth. He is the weakest onboard, but don't worry. Goku's got something neat to show them all. They all get to experience 100 Gs and beyond. Even Krillin. Good thing Bulma stayed on Earth huh?

They arrive on Yardrat and are met by Pybara, who tests them all and finds them worthy. Well, not Vegeta, 'cuz he's just a giant bag of sulk, but Raijin, Goku, Gohan, Krillin and even Piccolo now, are all inducted into their training regime. Before they start though, Raijin asks what they know about defusing, or separating him from his brother which actually answers the question Pybara barely knew was forming in the back of his mind. He just knew something was off about the 2 green ones. Yes, they can defuse them. In fact, they could learn to defuse themselves!

End Chapter 3

And with a smile on their face, we will bring Part 3 to a close.

Raijin and Fujin will be brothers once again and it seems as though there are many more to learn the Yardrattian ways. Well everyone but Vegeta. But what of Frieza and, more importantly, his father, King Cold. Vegeta knows about him, I'm sure, so perhaps he will swallow his pride and ask for their help in ridding the universe of their tyranny forever. Will they successfully learn this strange diffusion technique in time or will there be any unwanted distractions?
