You must not
lose faith in humanity.
Humanity is an ocean;
If a few drops of the ocean are dirty,
the ocean does not become dirty
~Mahatma Ghandi~
The sound of the rain violently hitting the concrete ground and the roof tops of stores and homes could be heard all around me. My hair sticking to my face at the same time as it flies around when I run was not only annoying but strangley relaxing. The smell of this weather made itself present in the air as much as the stars make themself present in the night sky.
There was a sloshing as well as a splashing sound coming from my white, worn shell toed sneakers as I ran in the heavy weather to a destination I'm pretty sure was forgotten a while ago. I could always check my phone to see which direction I should head, but not only am too lazy to even bother, but checking seemed to worsen my case because I have no clue where the living hell these streets were. I came to a holt infront of an enormously empty, white brick wall on the side of a tattoo shop.
'About the perfect size for one of my pieces'. I estimated.
Finally giving up on my memory of where the place I am supposed to be spending my senior year in. I took out my phone, with a picture of my cat Happy shown proudly as the home screen and notice the time read 00:00, exactly midnight. It took me a second to realized that I am extremly late for my meeting with the family I am staying with. I quickly go to my notes and read the address of said place then ran to the nearest person to ask for directions. I was ignored several times by multiple people.
"Are people in this city always assholes? Or is it just me?"I grumbled to myself when an old woman, a little less than half my height, silver hair, and a shinny ring that glistened in the rain on her finger approched me and asked if I needed help.
She gave me directions, but the clulessness in me awoken causing the women to give me an amused eye roll and lead me to my destination instead. The walk was really quiet. To damn quiet. Thankfully the sound of the rain broke the silence. I've noticed that the rain isn't as heavy as the rain we get back at home. The rain there is fucking crazy.
"Where are you from boy? People don't normally get lost here unless they're unfamiliar with their surroundings." The elder was egar but poliet and waited for an answer with a kind smile on her face showing her patience, unlike the people I've meet so far tonight. Besides she's just curious. Why not-
"Are you going to keep dreamin boy, or are you going to tell me?" She asked with an amused glint in her eyes.
"Oh! Sorry Mrs...-
"Robert. Mrs. Robert."
"I'm from Tokyo Japan Mrs. Robert."
"What a long way from home! Does everything in America meet your expectations?"
"Pretty much..." I trailed off grimly and the women seemed to notice the tone in my response
"Don't worry boy. I know people can be hurtful at times, especially to change. You know Ghandi once said 'you must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is an ocean; If a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty'. Remember that for me, okay."
Her words, and Ghandi's, helped clear my head of the previous worries that were there just a second ago. 'She's good'. We came to a stop at an enormous plot of land. It was like I was entering a haunted house from movies and the silence was almost agonizing to me. You could hear the rustling of leaves and the sound of the heavy rain. It lightened up a bit, but continued to down pour. It was the only sound once again breaking the silence.
I was brought to the end of the driveway and said my goodbyes to the kind old lady. After she told me to have a good night, I started to head toward the only home in the area. The walk to my new home should have been easy for me, but it was eithet farther than what I expected or I just have no sense of direction like I'm told. I started heading towards the mansion, but I start getting a bit light headed.
Almost there... I thought untill I started swerving like a mother fucker. By the time I got to the front porch of the unnecessarily big home I felt like I was going to pass out. My hair stuck to my face from the constant rain, so as quickley as I could, I rang the door bell and waited.
4 hours. It's been 4 hours since my friends and family waited patiently for the kid that will be living in my home for a year and I think we got fooled. I'm glad he's not here, I didn't want anybody else living here besides my family and I. Not a stranger. Sadly, his things were already shipped here and is waiting in his bedroom so my idea of being gooked was immediately dismissed in my head. We all suspected that he either had a late flight or got hurt.
My mother was especially worried. She was so excited to have a foreign exchange student here but I guess that's a bust. My mother looks so down I almost feel bad for not wanting the exchange student here...almost. To kill my inevitable time I invited my friends over. That group consisted of Levy Mcgarden, Juvia Lockster, Erza Scarlet, Cana Alberona, Jellal Fernandez, Gray Fullbuster, and Gajeel Redfox.
We watched movies and played games while my parents connsistantly worried about the exchange student. It got so late that my friends questioned me if he or she was even real, so I showed them "The Guest Cave". Yep. That's what I called it. A cave. Do you want to know why? Well, it's because it caved (good play on words I know I know) a majority of my time out of my day.Yes I know I'm being petty but this is all new to me. I swear I'm not always like this. Or so I've been told. This whole exchange student living in my home for my senior year thing was a suprise!

It was around 12:45 when we started watching scary movie. It was the begining of the movie, you know the part where the busty blonde gets chased by scream, untill the door bell rang causing the whole house to go silent. Not a single sound was made with the exception of screams coming fron the television and the sound of the crickets chirping away.
We all made eye contact silently communicating with one another but another ring brought us out of the hypnosis and my mother called my father and I down to come answer the door with her.
The sound of quick but heavy footsteps engulfed the house as well as my mother having my friends and I sit on the couch to make him feel comfortable. I guess having 10 people try to squeeze themselves through a door frame was pretty scary not to mention weird. My father opened the door after we all got ready.
After the third ring the door slowing opened building suspense and tension in the room. It was thick enough to cut through with a knife. And by knife I don't mean a stake knife, but a butter knife. Better yet, a plastic butter knife. I can't belive I'm saying this but I'm nervous and excited, it's giving me butterflies. What I expected was a nerd with the typical glasses and black hair, you know. But what I didn't expect was the color...pink?
As the door creaked open we saw a boy soaked in the rain. A boy with pink hair...standing in the cold, heavy, rain. This is going to be interesting.
I hope you enjoyed the pilot! The chapter's will definitley be longer than this and I plan on draggun tthis out as much as possible so sorty not sorry for future cliff hangers.I wanted to say that I will most likley put down a quote for each chapter that a character says and I want you to guess who.Hehe. Bye Bye 3
