The collapse of the American economy had left millions of workers without jobs and the only thing that the workers saw their government doing was paying out their bosses who seemed to lose nothing. This bailout of the rich and powerful immediately led to the workers looking for alternatives and that is when Jack Reed and Huey Long turned up. Jack Reed was a noted American leftist who had spent several years living in the Plantagenet Archipelago where he had been radicalized into a full on Anarcho-Communist. He had returned to the United States in 1935 where he had become a noted Union Leader in New York and Boston. To counter him was Huey Long. The governor of Louisiana since Hathor's invasion he had developed a unique ideology that his National Union Party represented perfectly with their mix of social democrats and reactionaries.

Jack Reed's American Worker's Party took of across the northern industrial regions of the United States as entire families who had been laid off flocked to his banner. Soon everywhere across the country a worker could find posters with the red wolf that Jack Reed had adopted as the symbol of his party. To counter this the golden lion of the National Union Party could be found as far north as Maine. Both loathed Herbert Hoover as did the remainder of the country and during the election a vague truce existed between the American Worker's, National Union, and Republican-Progressive parties against Hoover. As the President was attacked from every angle his already low popularity got lower especially as the Anglophobia that he had embraced as foreign policy was something only held by the upper class as many of the workers wanted revenge. The massive protests that occurred every time he left Washington sent Hoover into a spiral of depression.

The final straw for Hoover came when Al Smith managed to seize control over the Democratic-Conservative Party and formally withdrew their support for the President making him even more of a lame duck then he was before. Al Smith would endorse Franklin Delano Roosevelt who was already on the verge of securing the Republican-Progressive nomination and the support from Jack Reed, Huey Long, and Al Smith was to large to ignore. On the 12th of June Franklin Delano Roosevelt took to the stage with Henry Wallace and gave a long speech which tore apart Herbert Hoover's policies and views this was the first of many speeches against the loathed president. As the near entirety of the American political scene was rallying against the President it is no surprise that he was forced to live through several attacks on his life. With at least four per month often going higher due to how utterly detested he was by the American people. It is sometimes hard to remember how utterly loathed Hoover was but the polls and burnt effigies provide a chilling remainder 6% of the population supported him for President and the majority came from his biggest support base of the military.

When election night came around it was an wipe out every state voted for Franklin Delano Roosevelt with the closest margin in Georgia being 10%. The sheer and utter destruction of Hoover has never been met again and the openly Anglophilic President-Elect proved a dangerous card to the Anglophobic upper class of the American industrial magnates. Even with their fortunes devasted they still represented a massive amount of influence within American society. The largest of the business decided to act when the full results of the election came in. Contacting a particularly militant group of the American Army they managed to convince them that due to how powerful Jack Reed was in the new administration that Roosevelt was a Communist. On the 4th of March Douglas MacArthur led the Army into an empty Washington. Franklin Roosevelt and his cabinet had heard about the coup attempt and fled to New York where he denounced the Coup attempt and order the United States Army to rally to him. When MacArthur head the news, he blew his brains out just before his men burst down the door to lynch him. The interviews conducted the even showed that MacArthur had outright lied to his men convincing them that Jack Reed was planning to kill Roosevelt and secure power. The Business Coup as it was called was an absolute failure and the New Deal was even worse for the major business then his original aim was.

The Black Nationalist group that had stolen the Jaffa Staff Weapons had trained for several months with them and by August they were ready to launch their plan. Slipping into Atlanta their plan was to storm the government and hang everyone they could find. Then they happened to run in to a police patrol. The Free Jaffa Kingdom had an interesting start with the need to completely rebuild the entire Jaffa identity from that of the soldier of the Goa'uld to that of a free people. Massive education initiatives were launched across the Kingdom in preparation for the first election to the Jaffa council. The Free Jaffa Army also entered a period of expansion as the new government under Prime Minister Teal'c made use of the militaristic culture that the Jaffa had developed over time. Many visitors during this time note how busy the nation was as entire communities were torn up in the massive industrial development initiatives the government launched. Though not everything was rosy as the Kingdom had to deal with a few scattered Goa'uld loyalists that raised a stink over every reform and on Nova Liverpool attempted to revolt against the government only to be crushed swiftly. By late 1936 the Free Jaffa Kingdom seemed to have found their fate and they turned to how they could aid their King.
