The IHS Orion was a small ship compared to the ones built today and even by the late 1940's the Orion was seen as a small warship being only fifty meters long. In the general shape of a horizontal hammer the ship was equipped with two BL 16-inch Gun Mark III which had during the Battle of Earth been some of the most effective against the Ha'tak shields. It was thirty meters tall consisting of four floors the magazine running along the hull of the entire ship then three floors designed for holding either men of supplies. The Orion class was not built to be warship but a transport which is why it only had two guns. By 1938 humanity had expanded their understanding of computer technology to the point that they could actually build more than one interstellar ship. Two more ships were commissioned under the banner of Project Orion IHS Athena and IHS Ares, but Project Orion was not the only place where warships were built during that time. The United States commissioned five warships which would become the USSS Enterprise, George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Ulysses S. Grant, and Thomas Jefferson. The Imperial Navy commissioned the Lion class of Destroyers which consisted of ten Interstellar warships those being HIMIS Lion, George V, Nelson, New Windsor, Ark Royal, Prince of Wales, Victoria, Melbourne, Toronto, Ceylon, and King Arthur. The IJN built two warships designed to launch quick offensives those being the first Yamato and Zuikaku.

The American economy had begun to grow following the beginning of the New Deal the rebuilding of the Steel Belt and the industrial development of the south. The Hooverian depression as it became known was is generally regarded to have lasted from 1936 to 1940 when the United States Government formally declared the end of the recession and the success of the New Deal. The celebrations that met this announcement have never been met before or since in American History especially as the last of the business owners involved in the Business Coup was executed on the that day. The photos of the execution had a certain charm for as Jack Reed put it 'this squealing pig shows us all what the Bourgeoise will look like when the revolution comes.' Which is one of his more controversial quotes, but it was popular among his voting base many of whom had devoured their free copies of the Communist Manifesto and voted in the most radical members of the American Worker's Party. The election of 1940 was a decisive victory for Franklin Delano Roosevelt but not as much as his first election the Democratic-Conservatives managed to win many of the southern states under their candidates of Robert A. Taft and Alf Landon. Jack Reed won Illinois and Michigan while Huey long won Louisiana, Arkansas, and Texas. Franklin Roosevelt had secured his position for the next four years as he continued on with his reforms for the people of America.

The Qing military reforms were closely tied with the political reforms focused entirely around catching up to the west and Japan. By 1935 the Qing army was the greatest in China and looked south with hungry eyes dreaming of reconquering China. The Battle of Earth and subsequent London Conference were a benefit to the Qing with the British giving away plasma technology and forced to industrially develop many of the less well-off nations of the world which included the Qing. Soon roads and rail connected the Empire of Korea to the Russian Empire allowing people to travel all the way from the British Isles to Korea by railway. This connection allowed the Qing to put small tolls on all travel which allowed the government to focus on more development. By 1938 the Qing felt ready to finally reunite China along the Yangtze their forces gathered including the first Chinese Landcrawler Division known as the Fire Dragons. On Chinese New Year, the Qing commenced Operation Guangxu led by a barrage of plasma they stormed across the river with the golden flag flying. The warlords that stood against them trembled for they had no chance to stand against the might of the Qing.

The warlord states along the Yangtze had been dealing with intermittent bombardment and bombings by the Qing and their backers to stop any threat from arising in that region this meant that the warlords along the river had been reduced to holding single villages at most. The defending forces often were a few young men with ancient guns against the might of a near modern military most surrendered the second they saw the Qing forces. With the surrender of the warlord states along the Yangtze the warlords of the region were dragged off to trial which the Qing government had declared that any and all warlords captured would go through. While most of the trials were fairly boring only covered by the government run Manchu Observer some were covered as far away as the United Empire due to the crimes that the warlord had committed. In one case a warlord had seized control of a town and given all power to women stripping males of all of their rights and allowing women to kill a man for any reason. The warlord was hung for the usual treason but also crimes against humanity. By early 1939 the Qing had reconquered all land north of Nanchang and Operation Guangxu was declared a formal success.

The rise of Osiris and Isis in Cronus's hierarchy was met from worry from some of the more conservative supporters of Cronus who believed that since Ra had been the one to punish them that Cronus should not touch them. Those Goa'uld were all found the next day drifting in space with their symbiotes removed their deaths were all ruled an accident. However even with the return of Osiris and Isis Cronus was still losing. He had been pushed to a small corner of the galaxy focused around his homeworld and he prepared to make a last stand much like Apophis. Then for a single day all of the attacks of the Jackal stopped and the Goa'uld breathed a sigh of relief believing that it was dead. Then across the galaxy Ha'taks appeared declaring that Anubis had returned and that he would crush all of the traitors that dared stand against him.
