The end of war upon the birthplace of mankind came from two great flashpoints the South American Inferno and the Persian Collapse today we shall focus upon the first of the two chronologically that being the Persian Collapse. So, the region of Khuzestan under the control of Persia was ethnically Arab and the rise of the Kingdom of the Arabs meant that the idea of Pan-Arabism became a lot more popular among Arabians not part of what they saw as their motherland. The Pan-Arabian movement had been bubbling beneath the surface in Khuzestan following the establishment of democracy in Persia, but it began to appear following the election of a noted Pan-Arabist to the Persian Parliament in the elections of 1949. His notorious tirades against other members of parliament and Persia itself made him a symbol of loathing by the pro-Persian Arabs and many Persians that supported their nation first rather than their ethnic classification. However, to counter this he was loved by the Pan-Arabists in his constituency and his repeated demands for a referendum on the status of Khuzestan became a rallying cry for the Pan-Arabists. There were several protests crippling the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company's effort in the region which led to the company funding some of the more militant Unionist forces. This culminated in the Tehran Riots of 49 when a mostly peaceful march on Tehran by pan-Arabists was countered by very militant unionist militias. No one knows who fired first but a shot was fired, and the people began to riot for three days Tehran burned. On the third day the Shah decided to flee the city out of fear he aimed to do it without the people knowing so he could make a speedy exit and withdraw to the south. Unfortunately, the rioters discovered this, and the more militant unionists decided to act storming both the palace and the parliament led by one Mohammad Mosaddegh. While the royal family managed to escape many of the MP's were captured and brutally killed as Mohammad Mosaddegh declared the National Republic of Iran from the Royal Palace. The proclamation was extremely popular and large swathes of the nation defected to the Republic. The royalist cause was not helped by the Shah fleeing Persia to the United Empire with his flight the Empire collapsed before the Republic and nearly all of Persia followed the orders of Mohammad Mosaddegh. The only part that did not was Khuzestan which had seized on the opportunity to declare independence as the Arabic Republic of Khuzestan which immediately applied to join the Kingdom of the Arabs.
The National Republic of Iran invaded the region and captured the majority of the state quickly then they ran into the Arab forces along the Karun River. The Iranians ordered the Arabians to withdraw which they refused. Mohammad Mosaddegh formally issued an ultimatum to the Kingdom of the Arabs ordering a withdrawal from Khuzestan and a demilitarization of the entire Iranian border. The Kingdom of the Arabs refused and on the 17th of February 1949 the Iranian National Republic formally declared war on the Kingdom of the Arabs and the Persian Collapse began. Across the front artillery and Death Gliders tore forth as the last war on Eurasia began and the Middle East was set aflame.

With the outbreak of war in the Middle East and the seeming lack of care by the world powers the La Paz Pact decided to act against their greatest foe with the plans for Operation Reconquista approved by all members and they began to lay their plans. The Uruguayan Military was mobilized along the Argentina Border with the entirety of the military ready for the war the only thing that they needed was an ultimatum. On the 5th of March as the last Iranian Troops were thrown from Khuzestan they found a perfect reason. A Uruguayan man was walking his dog along the border when he saw an Argentine patrol executing a close friend of his who had gone missing a few days before. While of course the man would be found to be a murder and a paedophile and had escaped from prison in an attempt to return to Uruguay the summary execution of a Uruguayan citizen was enough for war. On the 10th of March with no warning the Oriental Republic of Uruguay formally declared war on the Argentine People's Republic as their army stormed across the border, their Air Force attacked positions of any value across the nation, and their navy bombarded Buenos Aires.
The initial advance was devastatingly successful with large sections of northern Argentina falling to the assault and within three weeks the front had reached Paraguay cutting of ten divisions that had launched an attack into the north. The Mesopotamia pocket as it became known was one of the main reasons for the catastrophic performance of the Argentine military during the early period of the South American Inferno. See the initial Argentine assault into Mesopotamia was a success and they eliminated several Uruguayan regiments that were threating vital positions. But they left their flanks vulnerable as their aim was to reach the vital Brazilian border and then hold. When their flank collapsed they immediately launched a breakout attempt which failed as they ran into the International Anti-Communist Volunteer Corps. Over the next few weeks, the pocket was whittled down and wiped out as the front evened out along the Paraná River and Argentina began to plan for their first great counterattack. Then along the Bolivian border soldiers from three nations poured through the front and tore towards Buenos Aires and the Uruguayan front. With opening up of an entirely new front the Argentines could not hold and just collapsed divisions defected to the Argentine Military Government and the Argentine Government order the implementation of a scorched Earth policy were any and everything that was of potential use to the invaders was destroyed. This action was often supported by the more radical members of the Population with a very high level of anarchists forming these Werewolf squads. The last great battle of the Argentine stage of the war was the Battle of Buenos Aires on the 17th of September. Check back next week for that.
