Time Of Your Life
Chapter 1
Otter's Note: This is another prequel, but it's shorter.
It was a normal day in the small town of Muskegon. Clouds gathered overhead, snow lay on the ground, and it was bitterly cold. The year was 2010 and much was different. Alister Otterton, who was nearly 9, was at his friend James McMarmot's house. They were playing Shaun White Snowboarding on the Wii with James' older brother, named Kyle. They were also listening to the game's soundtrack. They loved many of the songs on there, and had downloaded them onto their iPods. The one currently playing was "The Press Corpse" by Anti-Flag. Each of the children was taking turns running different courses.
"Thank you for letting me over once again," Alister said, "My parents don't allow this in the house."
"So very welcome," James said, "Your parents are a sure kind of stupid. Maybe you should live in our house."
"AH FRICK!" shouted Kyle, as the guy he was playing as wiped out.
"Well," Alister said, "You've also helped gotten me into some great music! Stuff that I'm not allowed to listen to in my own house."
"Yep," Kyle said, "that's all me. I've heard it all from my friends at school. And of course from all the video games I play."
"Well it's better than what my parents listen to," I said, "I can't stand what they listen to at all."
"Indeed," James said, "though my mom only likes some of our music."
"Oh yes, and speaking of our music," Alister said.
"Yeah?"
"Tomorrow, you know that I'm taking the train to Zootopia to visit my aunt Ashkii and my uncle Emmitt."
"Yes and," said the two marmots.
"Before I go with them to go skiing, I have another very important event."
"What is it?!" the two brothers asked.
"I," said the otter, "am going to see Green Day. It will be my first concert ever!"
"OMG!" shouted James "You really get to do it."
"And I still haven't seen them yet," Kyle said, "they're my favorite band."
"My favorite band too," Alister said, "and James thinks so as well."
James then nodded.
"Well maybe they can come to Bunnyburrow for the next tour," Kyle said, "since bands never come to Muskegon."
"Yeah," James said, "cause I want to see them too."
Suddenly, James' mother came in.
"Are you kids talking about Green Day?" She asked.
"Yes we are," Kyle responded, "Alister is going to see them live in Zootopia."
"I remember when they first burst onto the scene," James' mother said, "back in 1994, before any of you were born."
Alister was going on 9, James was 8, while Kyle had just turned 12.
"They were young," she said, "But proved successful. However their popularity dwindled. But, in 2004, they released Zootopian Idiot and changed the whole book."
"And," Kyle continued, "last year they released 21st Century Breakdown and still remain absolutely huge."
"Alright," said James's mom, "they just keep getting fans. I wonder if they'll still be like this in 10 years."
"And the bass player is an otter!" Alister exclaimed, "Just like me!"
"I also know that they have additional musicians when playing live," James said, "Not all of their songs can be done with only three members."
"I'm very excited!" Alister said, "I finally get to go to a concert!"
"Also dinner is ready," Jason's mom said.
They had rice for dinner. Pretty much just plain rice. That was the way that both Alister and James liked it. Alister was sleeping over in their house tonight before being dropped off at the train station in Bunnyburrow, which was a 45 minute drive. The train would have assistance there to assist with children who were traveling alone. He would stay with his aunt Ashkii and his Uncle Emmitt. They had a child of their own, two year old Corey, who was not going to the concert. They would eventually fly to Vermont to go skiing after the concert.
After they had dinner, Alister went up to James' room to sleep on the floor in a sleeping bag. They had a mattress they could put on the floor as well. Tomorrow, Alister would take the train, and the next day he would go see Green Day.
