Okay, sorry I took so long to get back to this, but I was currently busy with one of my big projects on Archive of Our Own. But now I'm here and I'm ready to focus on my Halloween story! Anyway, enjoy!
After the meeting was over, the girls had gone their separate ways, Gwen and Heather, along with the joined-in Leshawna went off to find a good empty building with a good hall somewhere to hold their party in, Izzy swung from building to building back to her own home to make invitations... and Bridgette herself? At the current moment, she was walking home as she looked around at the leaves changing and falling.
"Ah... autumn certainly is a sad time..." Bridgette sighed in disappointment. "No surfing, colder weather... I guess it's true what they say, summer is truly the best time."
She took a deep breath as she watched a couple of leaves fall gracefully from the trees as she thought back to her times on Total Drama. Yeah, it had been quite a long time since she participated in her last season... Season 3, the season where Alejandro tricked her into getting her tongue stuck on a pole. To say she still regrets falling for that trick was a bit of an understatement. Even with Geoff forgiving Bridgette for her mistakes and having Chris's girlfriend trying to take over the show, kicking Bridgette out for a short time, she still had a lingering feeling about that time...
But as time passed by, so did all of her friends and people on Total Drama. She didn't know exactly when, but during that time, Geoff and Bridgette just started to grow apart. It wasn't that she hated him, on the contrary, he was a nice guy. But, ever since he reunited with his friend and she had the surfing contest in Australia, the two of them just didn't click when they met again as they realized that even though they enjoyed each other's company, the kisses they shared just... weren't the same. It was rather hard to believe, even for the beautiful blonde surfer and the pink shirt wearing dude, but it was how life had worked. So, for the better, even though they agreed to remain friends, they figured it was better to break up.
And, much to her surprise, breaking up with Geoff was probably the best thing she'd done, because she had more time to spend on her surfing activities, and her studies. She wasn't thinking with her ovaries, for one thing. As a matter of fact, as Total Drama went off the air and the others kept in contact, she had gained interest in the oceans and was currently studying up on being a marine biologist. It could have been her love for the ocean and surfing through the waters, but the interest of sea life just called out to her.
But still, just because she was keeping up with her studies didn't mean she could communicate with her friends from Total Drama from time to time. And right now, this Halloween party Bridgette was planning was sure to bring a good reunion to her old friends. But first, she knew she had to focus on one thing... getting to the grocery store and getting food. But she knew that she needed a little help and advice... quickly, she pulled out her cell phone and called a number.
A few minutes later, Bridgette was waiting outside the grocery store as she looked at her watch, patiently waiting for her guest to arrive. She gave a sigh as she looked up at the sky, which at the moment was covering itself with plenty of clouds.
"Yo."
Bridgette looked over and gave a small grin upon seeing the large, muscle bound girl approaching, the frown apparent on her face. She gave a small smile. "Hey, Eva. Thanks for agreeing to come by."
"Yeah, yeah, you're lucky I had nothing to do today." The black haired girl shook her head as she gave a grin. "Well, you got a list prepared or what?"
"Hm?" Bridgette blinked, before giving a smile as she pulled out a list. "Oh, y-yeah, sure. Here's the food I'm planning to have for the party."
Eva swiped the list from Bridgette and looked it over as the two slowly walked into the store. As they entered inside, with Bridgette grabbing a cart, she turned towards Eva with a nervous grin. "So... uh... how are things going with your... er, parents?"
Eva raised an eyebrow towards Bridgette, who yelped as she held her hands behind her face, as if she was expected to be punched. Eva couldn't help but give a small sigh, somehow expecting Bridgette to react. "They're okay, I suppose. I manage to reconcile with Dad."
Bridgette's eyes widened in surprise, before sighing in relief. "Oh, that's good. I know you and your father weren't on the-"
"-best of terms, considering my half German heritage?" Eva laughed. "That's a bit of an understatement."
Bridgette sighed as she looked back towards Eva with a small smile. "Well, at least you're talking with him."
Eva paused a bit, before giving a sigh. "Yeah, though I'm still not accepting the... other side of my dad."
As she talked, Eva used her left foot to tap her right ankle as Bridgette looked over in surprise. After a moment, Eva smiled as she said, "You know, Halloween night... it's a wonderful night for eyebrows."
Bridgette couldn't help but give a giggle. "Are you trying to change the subject?"
Eva paused, before giving a small smirk. "Heh, maybe I am."
The blonde surfer couldn't help but give a smile to the former angry girl that antagonized her on Total Drama. It was hard to believe how much Eva had changed since her time on Total Drama. Sure, she still had a bit of a temper, but as Eva eventually warmed up to Bridgette overtime without the pressures of the game controlling her, she eventually channeled her anger towards protecting people she cared about. Even if the people she did care about were Noah, Izzy, Katie, Sadie and currently, Bridgette. Not that Eva could complain, in fact, it felt a little nice to have some good friends who tolerated her anger and were willing to help her remain calm.
After a moment, Eva paused as she looked towards the list. "I notice you put more vegan options than usual."
"You know I'm a vegetarian, Eva." Bridgette sighed as the two stopped in the fruit and vegetable aisle to gather an assortment of apples.
"Yeah, but a lot of us are meat eaters too, you know?" Eva shrugged as she pulled out a bag of carrots. "Now, I love celery and carrots as much as the next person, but when you munch down on a juicy hamburger, it's heaven in your mouth."
Bridgette lowered her eyelids towards the muscle bound girl before shaking her head. "Thanks for the lesson, Eva. I prefer to stick to my brand of food."
"All right. If it convinced your new boyfriend to go vegan, I won't judge you." Eva shrugged.
Bridgette paused as she turned towards the girl with a frown. "Eva, we've been over this. Ezekiel isn't my boyfriend. He's just a friend I've given a second chance to after the doctors cured him of his... condition."
Eva couldn't help but give a small laugh upon Bridgette's frowning. "Whatever, Bridgette. I still can't believe you gave the sexist guy a chance."
"Well..." Bridgette paused as she put her hand around her neck. "After all he went through, how he turned himself into a monster and lost his mind due to Chris's shenanigans, and how crazy the game turns us... I felt bad for him, you know? And... when you think about it, it's not really his fault that he thought girls were weak. He even told us it was how he was raised."
Eva paused before giving a sigh. "I suppose that can't be helped..." She shook her head as she gave a grin. "Still, the fact that he sees you and I as independent people, even before he went and... cracked, he was slowly trying to get back on the right track... even if some of it was misguided."
"Yeah..." Bridgette sighed as she looked up at the ceiling, a dreamy look in her eye.
Eva looked back towards the girl before shaking her head. "Sheesh... well, come on, dream eyes. Let's get ready for that party, and you can ask your new boyfriend out after we finish."
Bridgette jumped back as Eva gave a small laugh. The surfer girl blushed furiously as she chased after Eva, who had stolen the cart. "Eva, no fair! I told you I don't have a- EVA!"
And that's it for the second chapter! How did you guys like it? Yeah, with the whole thing about 'Eva being half German' thing, it was sort of my headcanon for Eva. Hope you guys don't mind if I added some of my own headcanons for these characters. Next time, we'll focus on Heather, Gwen and Leshawna and see how much they've changed since Total Drama had been over. Anyway, read, review, criticize and suggest, folks!
