Chapter 22
George forgoes the secret and draws Hermione into his arms when they see both Fleur and Viktor being pulled out alive, but unconscious. It is later found out that Viktor was placed under an imperious curse. There was no news of Harry or Cedric yet.
The whole crowd is sitting on their hands as they wait for any news one way or the other. Hermione does notice that Professor Snape is clearly in pain. They knew that he was a reformed Death Eater, so something large is happening.
"Oh, shit! It's worse than we thought. They should have reached the cup by now and port keyed back here." She really begins fretting. George looks over to his twin, he heard her too. George scoops Hermione into his lap and holds her tight while Fred wraps Angie in his arms.
No sooner than they do that, Harry arrives with the dead body of Cedric Diggory under him, crying and bleeding. Arthur, Amos and some other officials run down.
Arthur soon realizes that Cedric is dead. He leads Amos bodily away as Harry clings to Cedric and screams that the boy asked him to bring him back. Harry turns to Albus with wild eyes.
"He is back!" He yells over the crowds reaction to the end of the Tournament. Harry is taken to the Hospital Ward and interviewed with Sirius and Remus by his side. He never backs down about what he said.
George clings to his girl. He doesn't care what anyone says, she needs his support. He leads her into the castle and up to the common room.
While Arthur is at the castle, he gives George permission to travel with Harry and Hermione back to the Granger's home. He says that he will come by and pick him up.
Hermione, George, Remus, Sirius and Harry meet the Grangers at their office. Dan shakes Sirius and Remus' hands and hugs the three "kids". When Janet gets done with her patient, everyone gets a hug.
"Come on, George hasn't been here before." Dan waves to everyone to follow him. He leads them to the house and gives his son in law a tour of the house and yard. "This place is great! There is so much room here." He barely peeked into Hermione's room. It would be too much temptation. He is happy to see that Harry has his own room.
The seven of them have just finished playing a round of cards when Arthur knocks on the front door. George gathers his trunk and hugs Mrs. Granger, shakes Mr. Granger's, Sirius and Remus' hands, hugs Harry and pulls Hermione into his arms.
"Goodbye 'Mione. I'll write soon." He kisses her softly and leaves with his father.
Arthur claps George on his back. "Don't worry, Georgie. I personally think she is perfect for you. Don't be embarrassed about hugging or kissing her in front of us or them. You and her are betrothed, it's natural to want to be together all the time." He assures his son.
When they get back to the Burrow, it's dinner time. George immediately pitches in with preparations. Molly ignores him, the whole night, thinking he'll come to her and beg her forgiveness. It doesn't happen.
He is excited to find out that Sirius invited him and Fred to the Manor for Harry's first ever birthday party that he can remember. It coincides with the first Order of the Phoenix meeting. Sirius had explained that after some thought, he decided that it was better to know what Albus was up to than not.
