The light turned green. Everyone immediately hit the gas and sped forward, leaving the drone in the dust. People started shifting gears, trying to get ahead of each other and be the first ones on the track. Ruby looked across the line of racers and decided the best way to get a leg up was to force her way up. She hit the booster in her car and flew forward, far past everyone else, the others caught on and started boosting as well, the line ending up in similar positions as before, except much faster and still speeding up. Vert was the first to reach 300 mph, causing a portal to open up in front of them. Everyone else soon made it up to 300 mph as well, closing in on the portal as it swallowed them.

No one was quite prepared to hit the track at 300 mph, except maybe Pyrrha, as she kept her speed up.

Vert's voice came over their radios, "where are we?"

Kadeem soon spoke as well, "Tezla was right. It is another dimension!"

The racers drove down the track at a recklessly high speed, barely able to smoothly take the curves, as Banjee observed the environment, "check out these rocks!"

Vert looked up, "forget the rocks Banjee, check out that sky!"

"It's still a track, that's my world," Kurt started aggressively before speeding up and overtaking most of the other drivers, except for Pyrrha, who had been going too fast for anyone to catch up at this point. Unluckily for Vert, Kurt ended up trying to pass him on a curve and slammed into his side.

Vert shouted out, "Hey, watch it Kurt!" before being slammed off the track and onto the ground. Kurt let off a manic grin before being hit himself. Ruby had caught up and started slamming into the back of Kurt's car, before driving slightly up beside him and pushing his backend out, causing Kurt to spin off the track as well. Ruby's second place lead didn't last though, as Banjee overtook her to take on a massive loop up ahead. Pyrrha was already halfway up, using her car's ability to stick to the track and drove over the loop, coming out and jumping across a gap in the track ahead.

Banjee looked up exclaiming, "this is what I call a loop!"

Ruby looked at it, a smug grin plastered on her face, "I don't think you'll make this one Banjee,"

Banjee shifted up a gear, "watch me,"

He started climbing up the side of the loop, talking mostly to himself, "oh yeah, I'm gonna make it,"

He sped up to about the halfway point, "I'm gonna make it!"

His car started losing grip and falling off the track, "I'm… not gonna make it!"

He fell off the track as Ruby activated her car's ability, sticking to the loop as she went over it, just as Pyrrha had done, turning it off when she was halfway down the other side. As she drove down the loop and started towards the ramp she taunted Banjee, "see ya later!"

Flying across the gap, she felt as if she wasn't going to make the jump, almost shouting at the car, "come on! Come on!"

The car made it across, and as she looked back, she saw Vert driving back and forth on the loop like a half-pipe at the skateboard park, gaining speed to take the whole loop and the ramp.

As she saw Vert leap the ramp, she heard him have the same reaction she had when crossing the gap, "come on, come on!" as soon as he landed she heard him scream out in joy as he swerved from letting go of the steering wheel for a second. She was far ahead of him at this point but his reaction was funny regardless. Ruby was starting to catch up to Pyrrha as the track was rather simple after that point, especially with the rest of the drivers so far behind, looking in the mirror, she noticed that Vert and Taro were starting to catch up as well, but started fighting over Vert's position, eventually knocking them both off the track. Ruby eventually caught up to Pyrrha, just as they were about to drive into the top of a volcano, Ruby shouted out, "holy crap this track is crazy!"

Pyrrha turned on her headlights before responding, "this place is certainly strange. Since we're both Roadrunners, and in the lead, how about we work together against the rest of these guys?"

Ruby grinned, "that sounds like a plan, let's win this race!"

The two cars drove into the smoke, obstructing their vision except for the track slightly ahead of them. After the smoke cleared, they could see lava flows and a pool at the bottom of the volcano. Both Roadrunners shifted up a gear and sped around the winding track, exiting the volcano through a cave.

After being in the open for a bit, Lani's voice came over the radio, "can anybody hear me, I need help! If you can hear me, I'm at the-" her voice was cut off by static. Ruby's eyes widened, "Pyrrha what was that!?"

Pyrrha looked distraught, "I think that was Lani, we're too far ahead to make it in time, our best bet is to hope someone turned around and went to save her,"

"Alright, let's finish this," Ruby grimly announced,

Taro's voice came over the radio next, "Lani, this is Taro, I'm coming to help you,"

Ruby nearly jumped, "oh thank god, Taro's got it,"

Pyrrha sighed a breath of relief as the two got closer and closer to the finish. The portal was just up ahead, Ruby and Pyrrha about to cross it, when Kurt came up behind the two. Ruby looked over to Pyrrha, pinching her fingers together in front of her window hoping she would understand, Pyrrha nodded, and the two cars closed together, blocking Kurt from being able to pass in between. Ruby and Pyrrha got near the portal when an electric beam crossed the track, unfazed, Ruby and Pyrrha drove into it, as it blasted them forward through the portal, and they finished the race. Kurt drove to the finish after them.

Back on earth, Ozpin was waiting by where the portal was supposed to open and return the drivers. The exit portal was located in a dense forest, one of Tezla's cubes in the distance. The portal opened, and two racers flew out, both stopping almost directly in front of Ozpin. He stepped forward, "welcome back Miss Nikos and Miss Rose. Unfortunately that was just the first leg of the race, but that was a good display regardless. Dr. Tezla will explain more once all the drivers arrive."

Kurt flew out of the portal after Ozpin finished speaking, shouting out, "dammit!"

In the cube, Tezla started explaining how they were to go about the next legs of the race, "from now on, you will race as teams. As the winners of the first leg of the race Ruby Rose and Pyrrha Nikos will have first choice of three new drivers for their Roadrunners team. The other teams will be led by Brian Kadeem, Banjee Kasteel, Taro Kitano, Kurt Wylde, and Vert Wheeler. Do you have the courage to continue the world race? Into a world that's totally unknown?"

Taro was the first to answer, "I'm in,"

Then Banjee, "yeah, me too,"

Kadeem seemed hesitant, "do we still win five million dollars?"

Tezla answered, "five million. For every member of the winning team, and the knowledge that you're the fastest racer in the world,"

Everyone looked to Vert, who hadn't responded yet, "yeah, I'll lead one of your teams, if that's what it takes to win the race,"

Someone grabbed Vert on the shoulder, revealing Dr. Tezla in person, "good, now that you've decided to continue, I can tell you what really waits for you at the end of Highway 35."

AN: So this was the first leg of the World Race. I'm trying to keep the World Race part of this story short so we can get to the actual Acceleracers bit faster, but I like the World Race.

Sleeping Skeleton: I do plan on go beyond the fourth movie and into ambiguous territory, it'll probably be a bit difficult because the only story beyond that point that's been made is pretty much fanfiction and theories, but I don't want to leave this on that cliffhanger.
