Chapter 26
That night in Surrey, two dementors are unleashed. They are discovered by an elderly female squib. She immediately floos the Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. Amelia owls Sirius. He tells her that he, Remus and Harry will come. The three boys floo Susan home. After hugging both kids, thankful that Harry is alright, Amelia asks Harry point blank how long it's been since he was in Surrey.
"Almost a year, Madame Bones. For Christmas, I went to the Grangers. I went back with them, Sirius and Remus while the Black Manor was being redone, but never returned to Little Whinging. What happened?"
"Your cousin Dudley Dursley was almost kissed by two dementors. Personally, I think it's a sad ploy to discredit you via the Prophet and all because Fudge doesn't want anyone to think he's back. They are also trying to do the same to Albus, so expect him to try to buddy up to you. As you have an alibi for the attack and I recorded this meeting as I warned you I would at the beginning. You shouldn't be harassed. I fear they want to plant someone in the school to subvert the teaching of defense. My guess would be Umbridge is behind this."
"Amelia, the Ministry cannot interfere with the school. The very building will not allow it. After last year, I told the castle that anyone that is a threat to the students is to be removed." Harry assures her. "Plus, the new contracts have a clause that the professor gives up loyalty to anyone but the LATR (League Against Tom Riddle). I've decided that I am doing this my way. I'm done with anyone that doesn't want to even listen, I don't care if they agree or not.
As for my cousin, I am sorry that he was attacked, though given what he and Uncle Vernon did to me over the years... I don't wish a dementor on anyone, but could have done with a good curse or two. Will he be alright?"
Amelia looks over to the adults. "What does he mean?" She turns to Harry again. "What do you mean, what they did?" Amelia is outraged. She has never heard about any misconduct in Harry's case. The two men and Harry give her a rundown on what really went on inside the four walls of 4 Privet Drive. She walks up and hugs Harry again. "I'm sorry that I let you down, Harry. I am going to look into seeing those two punished for your treatment."
"Amelia, Harry owns the school. Hogwarts is actually Gryffindor Castle." Remus tells her.
"And as he has been emancipated and taken on his titles since the Holidays, he doesn't need to go anywhere he doesn't want to. According to James and Lilly's will, he was never supposed to go to the Dursleys. I was waiting until the end of the year to start the proceedings against Albus. He is being charged with kidnapping, falsifying legal records and line theft of a Lord. I was named Harry's legal guardian in the event of James and Lily's demise, on the day he was born. It was in the will. The night they died, Albus sent me on a wild goose chase. By the time I heard and got to the house, Hagrid was carrying Harry out and told me that he was following Albus' orders. I only caught up with Peter two days later. We both know about what happened after that. Do you think that all of our families would be this broken if Harry, Sue and Neville were raised together as they should have been." Sirius growled. Amelia nods sadly.
"Yes, if you had been free, we all would have banned together." She admits.
The boys return to the Manor. Hermione, Neville and the twins pop up. "Everything's fine. There was a dementor attack in Little Whinging. Amelia wanted to make sure I wasn't anywhere near." He assures them. Everyone relaxes and discuss Amelia's idea of the Ministry infiltration, LATR, and what they need to train in.
Dan breaks in. "I do agree that the kids need to train up magically, but what about their physical skills? What happens if their wand is knocked away, broken or something like that? I think we should sharpen up their "Muggle Skills"; hand to hand, knives, firearms, martial arts; I didn't know James or how he and Lily envisioned how Harry was to be prepared, but if he were my son and had this task looming over his head, I'd want him to be prepared, completely prepared. I want Hermione to be prepared. George and Fred, their brothers too.
I understand I haven't the practical knowledge of many of these things in this world, but I've been taught many special skills for war and I will use them and teach them to you to make our outcome be the only one." He looks Remus in the eye. "First off, we need to do a test. Is there a way that you could fire that killing curse without getting in trouble for it? I want to see if it is faster than my weapon. Next, is a shield able to withstand a bullet and how high a caliber do we need, before it doesn't?"
"Dan, I think that's a good idea. We too need to brush up on those skills." Sirius cheers him raising a glass of butterbeer. Remus nods and sneaks another chocolate kiss. The Grangers had brought some muggle treats to add to the spread that Kreacher had whipped up.
"James and Lily were realistic about what Harry would need to go through. Personally, I think we should shape the kids up to the level of an auror on our side and a S.E.A.L. on the muggle side. I spent time in the States over the lost years. Those bastards were amazing."
"That's what I want. Then we can decide amongst ourselves how much force is needed." Harry speaks up. He looks at Hermione, that twins, Neville. "We all know that Albus will try to get us to accept Ronald again. I say we take Ron back, but only to keep their eyes off of us. We'll hold meetings when he's asleep. Aside from Susie, we are all in the same house."
Hermione looks doubtful. George takes her hand. "We'll make it through this. We both have same goal." He turns to Harry. "I get that at some point, you two will be going to look those Horcruxes. I trust you to keep her safe." He pulls Hermione into his arms. "I'll be with you this year."
In the morning, Bill and Charlie take the twins home, but not before a full breakfast, which the four adults and one small elf insist the four Weasley boys eat.
Over the rest of the summer, George and Fred leave occasionally to see their girls. Molly makes small snide comments, but neither twin listen. They are happy with their respective girls.
