Dr. Tezla was waiting at the end of the first leg again, this time for Banjee and his team, when a robot flew up beside him, "they're coming,"
Tezla nearly growled out, "I know,"
The portal opened, Banjee coming out first and stopping in front of Tezla, shouting, "yes! Better than Ruby Rose's time,"
Tezla glared at him, "care to explain yourself Banjee?"
He looked confused, "I was just getting my team some practice,"
The other members of his team came out of the portal.
Tezla continued, "you mean you were risking your cars on a section of Highway 35 that's already been explored,"
"The risk, is sending new drivers into a race without practice," Banjee explained
"No one enters Highway 35 unless I approve it. Those are the rules,"
"Yeah, but doc, rules are meant to be broken," Banjee drove off with the rest of his team.
Tezla was about to say something when someone put their hand on his shoulder, "they're right, you know. It is a rather large risk putting new drivers on a track without practice,"
"Dr. Ozpin, the rules are in place for a reason,"
"And there are reasons to break them, don't worry, they'll be fine," Ozpin walked away,
"I can't risk losing the cars," Tezla muttered, walking back to the cube as well, the robot following.
Pyrrha was underneath her vehicle, putting a couple new pieces in place to make the car her own, when she heard footsteps walking towards her. Rolling out from under her car, she saw Ruby walking up with another woman, she had white hair, blue eyes and a white suit with Roadrunners emblazoned on it. She called out, "I'm assuming this is one of our new members?"
Ruby grinned, "yep, the other one's coming but it may take them a bit. Pyrrha Nikos meet Weiss Schnee!"
Pyrrha stuck out her hand, "it's nice to meet you,"
Weiss shook it, "good to meet you as well. Considering you held the lead for most of the first leg of the race, I assume you know your way around a track?"
Pyrrha nodded, "I used to street race, you're Ruby's race partner right?"
Weiss smiled, "yeah, friend too,"
Ruby wrapped her arm around Weiss and pulled her in, "best friend!"
Weiss shook her head, "dolt,"
The three kept talking when Slingshot zipped by them, drifting around the yard, two voices could be heard inside of the car as they were both cheering and whooping.
Weiss raised an eyebrow, "Kurt's here? Really?"
Pyrrha shook her head, "it may be his car, but he's not the one driving, and someone else is in there as well."
Kurt stepped in between the crowd forming, absolutely livid, "who's driving my car!?"
Banjee grinned behind him, "whoever it is, they're sure having fun,"
The car stopped and started to open, Kurt yelled at whoever was in it, "get outta my car, NOW!"
As the car fully opened, it revealed a guy in a green vest and yellow shirt and an older blonde with an orange tank top. The blonde smirked as she started talking, "you got some nice wheels Kurt,"
Vert walked over, "who are these guys?"
Kurt scowled, "my kid brother Markie and… Yang," he growled the last part out,
Yang got up out of the car and stretched, opening one eye and looking at Kurt, "what about me creep?"
Markie got out as well, "hey, the name's Mark, and I'm not a kid,"
Kurt kept going, "they're punks, like some others around here,"
Yang grinned, "says the guy I gave a black eye for creepin' on my sister. Speakin' of which, I've gotta go see her, see ya later Mark!"
Mark waved as she left, "see ya Yang!" then looked over to Kurt as he was getting in his car, "so, Dan Dresdin told me you were uh, recruiting drivers for a race,"
Kurt scowled again, "how did you get here?"
Mark just smiled, "Yang drove me, she got a new bike for this thing, but that's not important, what is important, is that I wanna be on your team,"
Kurt glared at him, "forget it Markie," he then closed his car,
Mark looked through the window at his older brother, "I'm a good driver Kurt,"
"My team's full," Kurt started his engine,
"All I want is a chance, let me prove what I can do!"
Kurt motioned like he couldn't hear him, then drove off, leaving Mark with the other drivers. Vert looked over to Mark, telling him, "you had some pretty cool moves in that car. And I do still need one more driver for my team," Mark looked up at Vert, excitement plastered on his face, "welcome to the Wave Rippers."
Back over by Pyrrha's vehicle, the trio silently watched as these events unfolded. When the blonde started walking over, Ruby snapped herself out of her daze, running over and shouting, "Yang! You finally got here!"
Yang waved before shouting back, "well how long did you think it'd take to get here?"
Ruby stopped moving, "well… I didn't know if you'd even show up at all,"
Yang rushed over and wrapped Ruby in a hug, "I'm sorry I haven't been around, but hey, I'm here now okay?"
"I know, it's just…" Ruby separated herself, "I haven't seen you in months, where've you been?"
Yang scratched the back of her head, "well, I was in the mountains, doing another biking competition and got stuck due to the weather. I was actually about to come home today when the weather cleared up, now imagine my shock when a fresh motorbike of a model I've never seen with a GPS system and that GPS then invites me to this world race thing,"
Weiss crossed her arms, "okay, but what about Mark? I wouldn't think you'd be close to anyone related to Kurt after what happened,"
Yang raised an eyebrow, "first off, he's a friend, not boyfriend. Second, neither of us like that creep, albeit for different reasons, but still. Anyways, who's the new gal?"
Pyrrha leaned against her car, "I'm Pyrrha, Pyrrha Nikos. You're Yang Xiao Long?"
"Yep, hope you guys are ready for this,"
Ruby turned back to Pyrrha, "so when's your guy coming in?"
A new voice rang out, "I'm already here,"
Pyrrha giggled as everyone else jumped, "Roadrunners, this is Blake Belladonna. She's a street racer I kept in contact with,"
Ruby grinned, "well at least all the racers we got have some experience,"
Weiss looked over their drivers, "let's see, two street racers, two professionals, and a biker. You could say experienced."
Everyone had entered the cube for another speech from Tezla, "the track known as Highway 35 was built by beings we know as Accelerons. They built the track because they loved racing. I believe that only the challenge and spirit of competition can take a driver through to the end, but why is it important to reach the end of the track? This ancient inscription describes a Wheel of Power that will be found at the end of Highway 35, I believe it will be the greatest source of energy the world has ever known. Work with your teams and win the World Race, prove you're the best drivers in the world, and bring me the Wheel of Power,"
Weiss raised an eyebrow, "that sounds… highly unlikely, at best. Are you sure this guy doesn't need to go to a mental hospital?"
Ruby giggled, "relax, even if this Wheel of Power thing isn't real, we still win five million at the end anyways, it's honestly a win-win,"
Weiss sighed, "fine, but there is no way I'm believing any of that until I see it for myself,"
Blake spoke up, "Pyrrha told me these tracks are in another dimension, so either everyone from the first leg is insane, or this Tezla guy's probably telling the truth,"
Ruby frowned, "you can't race in grand prix if you're schizophrenic Blake, just… trust me on this one okay?"
It was Blake's turn to sigh this time, "alright, fine. We should probably get re-" Blake's eyes fell on Kurt Wylde leaving the building without his team, "that's weird, where would he be going alone?"
Yang chuckled, "he's probably going to peek on girls through bedroom windows or something, honestly I couldn't care less. We've got a race to prepare for gang!"
