The Isle of Ireland had never been the most peaceful area in the British Isles with the divisions between the strongly Unionist Ulster and the nationalist south while the establishment of a local parliament had calmed down the nationalists it had done the opposite for the north. For the first few years of Home Rule the Unionists had helped themselves by just obstructing every bill no matter how minor that aimed to go through Irish Parliament. But after Irish was made the co-language of Ireland the Ulster Unionists decided that there was nothing they could do peacefully and that they had to act decisively. The Troubles began on the 10th of January 1931 when a radical Unionist shoot up a gathering of Nationalist politicians in Belfast proclaiming them all traitors and calling for Ulster to be purged of all the traitors. This led to Nationalist counter attacks and soon Ulster was ablaze with slaughter as the Troubles began. The early phase of the Troubles is usually known as the Ulster offensive as the last few Nationalists in the north lashed out at the overwhelming unionist majority following the Nationalist exoduses of 1908. This phase lasted for around two years with only the notorious Londonderry exclave lasting out for longer. With the defeat of the Ulster offensive and the mass slaughters of Nationalists by the Imperial Ulster Defence Corps the Troubles turned to the Irish region of Connaught as the Unionists launched their grand offensive. The front as it became known was the area with the most murders in the British Isles as the Unionists and the Nationalists slaughtered each other over something that had already happened. The British government did try and crack down on the Troubles, but they buggered up a few major actions against Unionist leaders making it seem that they only cared for crushing the Nationalists. Which led to the formation of the bloodiest organization in Irish History a group that has more blood on their hands then the Jacobite's the Irish Republican Army. Formed in 1937 from the most radical members of the nationalist forces the group called for the complete impendence of Ireland as a Republic, to purge all English influences and to keep Ireland strong. The Troubles had entered their bloodiest stage the 1940's and 50's were a cesspool of blood and slaughter across Ireland as the Irish Republican Army rose and fell.

The history of Kangaroos on New Windsor is one of those quirks of history that make it so fascinating to learn about. First introduced on New Windsor for the New Tasmania project alongside Tasmanian Devils, Wombats, and Thylacines the Kangaroos would find themselves at home on the island where they were forgotten for the next few decades. Until 1944 when a smuggler decided to run out a pair of Kangaroos to the coast where they managed to break out and hopped out into the wilderness of the planet. They managed to escape the first few patrols sent out for them and even managed to have Joeys before they were caught. But the ease in which they had transitioned to living in the wilds of New Windsor impressed the local farmers as cows and other European animals had taken much longer. One farmer decided to import a small pack of Red Kangaroos from Australia where they quickly flourished on his particularly nutrient poor land. He would continue this practise for the next few years slowly growing his batch without any major escapes until 1953 when a small pack managed to break down the fence and escaped into the wilderness where they prospered. The animals soon became a favourite of the locals who successfully petitioned the local government to allow the animals to remain despite the grumblings of several local farmers who feared that they would become pests. Which they currently are but they quickly spread across the rest of New Windsor from the shores of Lake Rhodes. The greatest effect of this was that a new source of cheap reliable meat became available across New Windsor most notably in New Mumbai which led to the development of the most common curry eaten in Australia Butter Kangaroo all because of a Kangaroo being smuggled from New Tasmania.

With the discovery of Anubis's plans for his assault on Earth by IIET-1 the allied High Command knew that they needed to gather their forces for a defensive battle. Immediately every Interstellar Warship was called back from their missions missives were sent out to the Dawi for aid against the Goa'uld and the Treaty of New Windsor was activated calling in a Asgard mothership. The trials of the HIMIS Vanguard were accelerated. While the proposal to station a detachment of Imperial Marines on warships was approved with each ship getting a battalion of Imperial Marines in order to protect against any boarding actions. The total Great Fleet numbered fifty-nine human ships, thirteen Dawi warships, and a single old Asgard mothership. Then came the final and greatest debate to strike against the Goa'uld fleet before they could reach Earth or defend Earth itself and gain the use of the orbital defence platforms and the entrenched guns on the planet itself. But then came an Asgard suggestion they knew when the assault would come and where it would be launched from, so they decided to make use of that knowledge using Asgard star charts they found the midpoint between Earth and Anubis's chosen headquarters. The system named Liberty in the galactic northeast was uninhibited and if not for its vital position would have been forgotten about in the grand scheme of the galaxy. The Asgard had developed an experimental technology that was able to pull starships out of Hyperspace and it was decided to use that to make sure that the Goa'uld actually fought them. The allies then turned to fortifying Liberty having two months before the offensive was launched so they decided to make it a death trap for the Goa'uld. The asteroid belts were filled with mines and artillery emplacements, the moons of the system were covered in temporary airbases and artillery emplacements all the while on the planets enough artillery was built up to destroy a Ha'tak by themselves. On the 17th of September 1954, the allies efforts were going to be tested as the Battle of Liberty began.
