Whilst Kat was being debriefed up in the Watchtower Yuri, Green Arrow and Black Canary were breaking out the bank robbery in Star City.
"Well, at least the bank robbery epidemic makes a little more sense in this world." Yuri thought as she knocked out one of the robbers with a wind punch. "Unlike my dimension where all the heroes are confined to New York, the heroes here are a bit more spread out, still with guys as powerful as Superman flying about, you'd think…." Yuri's train of thought was interrupted by a cry of pain behind her and she span around seeing an unconscious robber with a boxing glove allow lying on the ground nearby, once she saw the gun in his hand she put two and two together and turned to Green Arrow. "Yeah, I know, I should've been paying more attention."
"Happens to the best of us, don't worry, besides that was the last of them." Green Arrow assured her, and Yuri grinned under her mask as the police started rounding up the robbers. "Have to say, you handled yourself well." Green Arrow complemented her, and Yuri's grin grew wider.
"Like I said to Superman, I've been doing this for two years." Yuri commented as the trio left the bank. "It's not the first time I've blown several dudes in a row…." Yuri trailed off before instantly regretting her choice of words and being thankful that her mask didn't leave her cheeks exposed because the older heroes would've seen her blushing like a madwoman. "I really, REALLY, should've caught that sentence before it left my mouth!" Yuri commented with a facepalm as the older heroes gave her an amused look. "At least things can't get any worse."
"If Yuri is done embarrassing herself, I have some good news for her." Superman's clearly amused voice rang out through their earpieces and Yuri groaned. "Katrina was found in Gotham City by Batman she's being debriefed in the Watchtower as we speak."
"That's a relief." Yuri let out a sigh of relief before clearing her throat. "How soon until she's joining in the search?"
"I'll let you know as soon as she's cleared, she got into a fight with one of Batman's enemies, namely Killer Croc." Superman responded and Yuri nodded. "Once she's medically cleared, I'll call you again." Superman added before hanging up.
"If your done dying of embarrassment." Green Arrow commented and Yuri turned to him. "Do you want to continue searching for Marco and Ehsan or head back to the Watchtower?"
"I want to keep searching; besides I think they would've gone over everything with Kat so I can always catch up with her later." Yuri responded once she got over her embarrassment. "So, more of the same?"
"More of the same." Black Canary nodded before she and Green Arrow went over to Black Canary's motorbike and Yuri took flight.
*back on the Watchtower*
Unlike Yuri Kat didn't return to the side room after she got patched up for her injuries taken at the hands of Killer Croc, in fact the first thing she asked was to be taken to the gym facilities.
"Gotta keep myself occupied somehow." Kat thought as she walked up to the punching bag in the gym, Kat had gone to the gym prior to getting the mission from Cap so she still had her gym clothes, consisting of a sports bra, an open white and blue jacket and matching jogger bottoms, on her before heading through the portal, that wasn't the only change as Kat had taken her hair out of the braid and tried it up into a loose ponytail. "Let's hope this thing is sturdy!" Kat thought before she started throwing punches and martial arts style kicks at the bag, she was in her own world and completely oblivious to the world behind her even after the door to the training area opened. "This thing is sturdier than it looks."
"You're not the only one with Super Strength up here, it has to be sturdy." A male voice rang out and Kat looked up seeing Nightwing standing next to her, as well as noticing the Superheroines Fire and Ice giving her an impressed look. "Dragon Girl, right? Name's Nightwing, I heard you met my mentor?" Nightwing added before offering her a handshake.
"Right." Kat nodded before accepting Nightwing's handshake. "And somehow I doubt you meant Killer Croc was your mentor."
"Back when I was with Bats the only thing Croc could've taught me was about throwing rocks at Batman's head." Nightwing chuckled before shaking his head. "I started my career as Batman's sidekick, it didn't end on the best of terms."
"Based on my experiences with him, that doesn't surprise me." Kat responded before taking a sip from a nearby water bottle. "Has he always been that rude?"
"He pulled his disappearing trick on you, didn't he?" Nightwing asked and Kat nodded. "Don't take it to personal, Bruce just prefers to keep things short and sweet, or sour in his case, when he's on the job, he also told me that you could use some training."
"I thought you said that your mentorship under him ended badly?" Kat asked with a raised eyebrow and Nightwing shrugged.
"We made up." Nightwing responded before motioning over to the sparring mat. "If your up for it, we could always have a sparring match."
"Just don't complain after I beat you." Kat responded with a grin before joining him on the sparring matt, the two heroes sparred for a good couple of minutes, but every time Kat tried to take the advantage Nightwing avoided her attacks.
"Your telegraphing your moves by a mile." Nightwing commented as he caught Kat's fist in the palm of his hands. "That might work against a common thug or a punching bag but not against someone who knows what they're doing."
"At least I'm trying to win." Kat responded as she got her fist free from Nightwing's grasp. "So, how did that partnership come about? Batman didn't really strike me as someone who likes working with others." Kat asked before noticing the shift in Nightwing's body language. "Sensitive topic?"
"Yeah, I'll let it slip just this once because you obviously had no way of knowing but all I'll say is that he was there for me at my darkest time." Nightwing responded with a frown and Kat nodded in understanding before deciding to drop it. "Yuri's description of your abilities didn't mention any martial arts expertise."
"During my first year as a hero, my main strategy for dealing with bad guys was essentially fly up, punch them and hope for the best." Kat admitted as they started exchanging punches though neither of their punches really connected. "Then I started encountering more villains who could hold their own in a fight based on pure power and I started taking Martial Arts lessons on Yuri's suggestion, mostly Karate and Teakwondo."
"You've clearly taken to it well." Nightwing responded before Kat lunged only for her to get judo tossed over Nightwing's shoulder . "But you still have a long way to go."
"Sad part is? My next session was meant to be tomorrow." Kat responded before breaking out of Nightwing's hold and rolling to her feet before standing across from him. "Unless you guys can get me back home by tonight, I might miss it."
"I'm sure something can be arranged." Nightwing nodded before offering Kat another handshake which she accepted. "We'll call it a draw for now, but Fire and Ice wanted a chat with you before we found out that you had left to train."
"What can I say? I get bored easily." Kat admitted before Nightwing left and she turned to the older female heroes. "Hope I didn't keep you guys waiting too long."
"The show made up for it." Fire reassured her as the Brazilian Heroine motioned towards the punching bag and the sparring matt. "So, Katrina was it? Are you ready to search for your friends?"
"Sure, just need to get changed into the Dragon Girl costume first." Kat nodded before she started walking towards the women's changing room. "Where are we starting our search?"
"Central City, one of the founding members will be helping us." Ice responded as Kat removed her hair from the ponytail. "The Flash will be waiting for us on the ground, don't worry, he's a lot more laid back than Batman."
"You know that doesn't narrow things down, right?" Kat asked semi-jokingly and Ice simply nodded before Kat walked towards the changing room.
"And we will be buying you a change of clothes." Fire chimed in and Kat glanced over her shoulder. "Our treat."
"Considering the only clothes that I brought with me, counting underwear, are my gym clothes and my Dragon Girl costume, that's probably a good idea and I appreciate it." Kat nodded before she went into the changing room. "Hope mom's holding up okay at home." Kat thought as she removed her jacket and got changed into the Dragon Girl costume. "She always put on a brave face but if anyone was as hurt by dad's death as I was, it was her, even after I moved out I made sure to help out when I could," Kat thought before laughing to herself as she put on the mask. "I don't think she'd believe me if I told her about the Watchtower though, hell this won't be easy to explain in general."
*in Central City*
Marco had been dumped out on a street by the portal and he got up scratching his head, he didn't realize it at first, but he was right outside the Flash Museum.
"Pretty sure that I'm not in Kansas anymore." Marco thought as he stood up straight and glanced around. "No sign of the girls or Ehsan, where am I exactly?" Marco wondered before finally noticing the building he was outside off. "The Flash Museum? Well, I guess I know who the local hero is, the guy must be really popular if he has a whole museum dedicated to him, wonder if I can convince the mayor of New York to do something similar for me, Yuri, Kat and Ehsan?"
"Mommy, look, a Superhero!" Marco's train of thought was interrupted when he heard a child's voice from behind him and he glanced over his head seeing the young boy standing next to his mother. "Can I get his autograph?"
"Jason, I'm sure he's busy." His mother responded before she tried to usher him along. "He's probably here on league business."
"No, no, it's no trouble at all." Marco assured her as he walked up to the pair. "I'm happy to give Jason an autograph, though I will admit that I am a little lost."
"Lost?" The mother asked with a confused look on her face as Jason handed Marco a piece of paper for him to sign.
"Yeah, I got lost on the way back to New York, can you tell me where I am?" Marco asked as he signed Jason's autograph and the mother gave him an odd look.
"You're in Central City, Missouri." The mother responded and Marco was thankful for his helmet, because otherwise the mother would've seen the embarrassed look on his face. "You are far away from home."
"Lady, you have no idea." Marco thought as he handed Jason his autograph. "Well, thanks for the help, now I have to figure out how to get back to New York in a reasonable time." Marco responded as the mother lead Jason away, once the pair were long gone Marco let out a deep breath. "I've never even heard of this Central City before, so I think it's safe to say that that portal dropped me off in a new dimension." Marco thought as he got his glider out. "Maybe if I have a look around, I'll find the others, and maybe this Flash guy." Marco thought before hopping on the glider and flying off.
*elsewhere in the city*
The trio of Kat, Fire and Ice were teleported down to the city in short order once they had reached the teleportation pads and Kat was taking a moment to take in her new surroundings.
"Something on your mind?" Fire asked the younger Superheroine who nodded.
"Yeah, why couldn't the portal have dropped me off here instead of Gotham." Kat responded with a grin as she glanced around. "So when can I expect this Flash guy to show up?"
"Any second now…..." Ice trailed off before the Flash zoomed into view and stood there with his hands on his hips. "Always one to make an entrance."
"You know me." The Flash responded with a good natured grin as Kat looked him over. "J'onn filled me in on the situation, I understand that you've already found Katrina?"
"Yeah, I'm standing right here." Kat chimed in as she walked up to the older hero. "Katrina Sheng Lao, AKA Dragon Girl."
"Wally West, AKA The Flash, nice to meet you." The Flash greeted Kat with a friendly nod. "I haven't seen Ehsan or Marco yet but there have been sightings of a new hero flying about the city on a glider, I'm guessing that's one of your male companions?"
"You'll have to be more specific." Kat responded dryly as her eyes narrowed. "Both Marco and Ehsan use gliders, off our group only me and Yuri can fly."
"Based on reports his costume was light blue in color." The Flash responded and Kat breathed a sigh of relief before nodding.
"It's Marco, where was he first sighted?" Kat asked and The Flash motioned for the trio to follow him.
"Just outside the Flash Museum." The Flash responded causing Kat to do several double takes as it sunk in. "I'll show you the way…."
"You have your own museum?!" Kat asked with a dumbfounded look on her face before shaking her head. "And here I thought the weirdest thing about today would be spending an hour on a satellite!"
"You get used to The Watchtower after a while." The Flash assured her with a slight laugh. "As for the museum, well I've done so much for the city that they built in dedication to me." The Flash added before he sped off and the three Super heroines followed him.
"The Avengers have saved the world more times than I can count, and they don't have a museum!" Kat thought as she trailed behind Fire and Ice. "Part of me is tempted to tell Tony if/when we get back, just to see the blow to his ego." Kat thought with a chuckle before she extracted her wings to keep up with the other heroes.
*back with Marco*
As Marco was familiarizing himself with the city, he heard a bank alarm go off nearby and flew over to investigate.
"Okay, so from what I read this city's main hero is a guy with Super Speed." Marco thought as he glided into the area and sure enough there was a line of policemen outside the bank. "If that's how powerful this city's hero is then I'd hate to see his Supervillains!"
"This is your last chance Captain Boomerang." Marco overheard the police captain call into his megaphone and Marco barely stopped himself from falling off his glider from laughter. "Come out with your hands up."
"Not a chance." Captain Boomerang's thick Australian accent rang out before he threw several boomerangs at the police, they ran out of the way and the boomerangs exploded on contact. "You know my demands! I want a helicopter out of this stinking city!"
"Okay, so this guy is a bit more serious than his silly name gave him credit." Marco thought before he spotted several more boomerangs racing towards the police line. "Not this time Boomer!" Marco yelled out before leaping off the glider and blocking the boomerangs with a massive mental shield.
"What the?!" Captain Boomerang demanded once he saw Marco, "That's not the Flash!"
"Sorry, your going to have to deal with Mental Boy for now." Marco called back before glancing over at the captain. "Anyone hurt?"
"From the police line? No, there were some civilian injuries, but they are at the hospital." The captain responded and Marco nodded. "Kid, you should just leave this to The Flash."
"Kid?! I'm twenty!" Marco responded thankful that his helmet was hiding the annoyed look on his face. "Besides, how tough can Captain Australian Stereotype be?"
"He's been fighting The Flash for years, trust me, he's tough." The captain responded and Marco shook his head before entering the bank.
*back with Kat's group*
"Be honest, this was just an excuse to show us around your museum, wasn't it?" Kat asked the Flash as the four heroes emerged from the museum and The Flash shook his head.
"No, I just thought that he might've had a look around here." The Flash responded and Kat remained unconvinced. "I had to cover my bases."
"Katrina, Marco has been located." J'onn's voice rang out through their earpieces and Kat let out a sigh of relief. "He's battling one of Flash's enemies."
"Seems we can't keep out of Supervillain battles." Kat sighed before putting a hang to her earpiece. "Who?"
"Captain Boomerang has taken hostages at a bank not far from your location." J'onn responded and Kat did a double take when she heard the name. "Mental Boy was first on the scene and is battling him."
"On it." Kat responded before hanging up. "Two things." Kat said as she turned to The Flash. "I take it you know where this bank is? And Captain Boomerang?"
"Yeah, like J'onn said, it's not far from here." The Flash nodded before sighing. "His name's a little goofy but Captain Boomerang has been a persistent form in my side for years."
"I'll take your word for it." Kat responded before they left in the direction of the bank. "No offense to the Flash but this Captain Boomerang guy sounds like he would've been on Target's list back when he was operating the revived Scourge organization." Kat thought as she flew through the city.
*back at the bank*
"Can you please stop calling me Boomer?!" Captain Boomerang demanded as he continued to throw boomerangs at Marco who kept his mental shield up. "And drop that shield already!"
"Sorry, I happen to be deathly allergic to getting blown up by boomerangs." Marco responded as he braced himself for another explosion. "And that is the weirdest sentence I have ever said in my entire life." Marco thought as Captain Boomerang continued to throw boomerangs at his shield. "So, what's your story? Did you get tired of boomerangs hitting you in the face whenever they came back to you?" Marco asked and Captain Boomerang shut up.
"Shut up!" Captain Boomerang yelled at Marco before throwing more boomerangs at Marco's shield.
"Oh, so you got tired of them hitting you in the balls. Why were you throwing them so low?!" Marco teased him and Captain Boomerang growled before Marco noticed that he had gathered up enough energy. "Perfect!"
"Give it up Boomer, your completely surrounded." Captain Boomerang span around as The Flash appeared at the door alongside Kat, Fire and Ice.
"About time you showed up Flash!" Captain Boomerang responded as he got ready to throw more boomerangs. "Because I've got more boomerangs were that…." Captain Boomerang never finished his sentence as Marco blasted him with mental energy from behind sending him flying into the path of Kat's fist knocking him clean out.
"So, you're the guy with the museum." Marco commented as he walked up to The Flash. "Name's Mental Boy and…..."
"You came from a different dimension?" The Flash asked and Marco nodded after pausing for a moment. "I know who you are Marco and Katrina here has been looking for you." The Flash added as he motioned to Kat and Marco grinned broadly under his helmet. "You just need to be debriefed before you get some quality time with your girlfriend."
"Sure, where do we start." Marco responded once he regained his composure and The Flash shook his head.
"Not here." The Flash said before putting a hand to his earpiece. "J'onn, we found Marco, he's ready to be teleported."
"Understood." J'onn responded before teleporting Marco to the Watchtower.
"You couldn't have given me some quality time with him first?" Kat pouted as she folded her arms and the older heroes laughed.
"Sorry, the debriefing rook priority." The Flash explained and Kat's frown deepened. "They'll be time for that later."
"Besides, when was the last time you took your boyfriend with you to buy clothes?" Fire asked Kat and she paused.
"Good point." Kat nodded before they left the bank.
*on board the Watchtower*
Marco barely had time to process what was happening on earth before he was teleported to the Watchtower where Superman was there to greet him.
"Welcome aboard Marco." Superman greeted the thoroughly confused Marco as he hopped off the pad. "I know you likely have a few questions."
"Just a few." Marco nodded as he removed his helmet revealing his shoulder length dark brown hair and soft, Italian American features. "Frankly I don't know where to start."
"Follow me, I'm sure I can fill you in." Superman nodded before leading Marco to the side room. "J'onn, let Yuri know that we found Marco."
"Will do." J'onn nodded before returning to his work.
"So, where do you want to start?" Marco asked as he entered the side room and put his helmet down. "Because I have a lot of questions running through my head."
"We'll start with this organization, the Justice League." Superman nodded as he motioned to the main room of the Watchtower. "And the fact that if everything goes well, you and your friends will be invited to join the league."
