The Republic of Mexico following the end of the Mexican war had been a unique part of the world. Concurrently a near theocracy, while also having some of the most progressive social views on Earth. The legalization of homosexuality had led to the Mexico becoming the capital of research and understanding of Queer issues. From 1934 to 1936 two new major sexualities were formally classified in Mexico by one Alfred Kinsey those being Bisexuality, and Asexuality. As Mexico advanced it became the haven for thousands of oppressed Queers from across the world as some of the more conservative regions of the world began to crack down on the slowly developing Queer community. The most notable example of this was in Persia as the unpopular government tried to find a scape goat for their failures. With the knowledge that attacking Arabs would lead to their neighbours invading once again the government decided to attack the Queer community. They launched massive crackdowns throwing them out of the nation forcing them to flee to Mexico. This was when the Law of Love was passed in Mexico. The Law taking inspiration from the Israeli law making it legal for any Jew to claim citizenship gave the right for any Queer person to claim Mexican citizenship because Christ loved all, and Christ will protect all. The law was initially unpopular among the more conservative parts of the population, but the Queer voting block was now to large to overcome and the law stayed. Some have criticized the law for allowing criminals to escape justice but the strict Mexican obedience to international law usually wiped them up quickly.
The Queer community was not purely relegated to Mexico despite what some reactionaries grumble about. In the United Empire they were allowed to exist from 1943 but not act out publicly that bill had brought down the first Churchill government. The election of the first Labour dominated government in 1948 led to Queer people getting more rights with the legalization of any relation between any consenting adults. The bill was seen as a hallmark of Queer rights in the United Empire and though it alongside the 'Wind of Change' bills led to the rise of the Menzies Government in 1956 the bill brought about the freedom of the Queer people that now protects the people of the galaxy today. As MP Harold Wilson put it every man woman and child was fundamentally equal, and everyone had the right to love who they desired. Of course, he nearly lost his seat only winning by fifty votes but that aside Harold Wilson was a paragon for Queer rights across the United Empire of Britannia and we must honour his memory.
Across one of the many southern borders of the United Empire the United States of America was a mess regarding Queer Rights and to be honest any rights whatsoever. Despite the desires of Henry Wallace and the American Worker's Party the south of America still had enforced Segregation towards their African-American community which was led by the blood-soaked Ku Klux Klan. The fact that those with a different skin colour were not afforded equal rights meant that it would be near impossible in the current climate for the long-oppressed Queer community to gain any rights on a federal scale. In certain states across the north where the Republican-Progressives and the American Worker's Party dominated they managed to secure the right to exist and to have relationships but that was about it in regard to the rights of Queer people in the United States for the next two decades or so.
In Russia, the movement was very slow as the Communists had legalized it which meant that it never really caught on among the people. Many of whom had memories of Grozny, and brutal battles where sadistic madmen fought to their last breath against the soldiers of the Tsar. The Queer community in Russia generally uprooted to Mexico to be more specific the north-east along the American border the area still has a very strong Russian influence reflecting that and how late Queer rights were granted in Russia. These scenes were repeated across large swathes of eastern Europe with Poland and Lithuania both following in the Russian footsteps. The Nordic nations on the over hand had a very liberal view towards partly from the large Wulfen presence in Norway, and Sweden and partly because of the efforts of Prime Minister Gerda Wegener of Denmark in breaking apart the closet as she put it one of her many interesting speeches. The Nordic Nations represented a staunchly liberal view compared to their neighbours down south where Germany, France, the nations of the Benelux, Danubia, Italy, Spain, and Portugal all moved with caution. Or in Spain's case refused to acknowledge that Queer People existed so that was an interesting time to be Queer in Spain.

As the Goa'uld Empire collapsed at a steady pace the amount of independent pirates and raiders began to grow as the Goa'uld ability to police the fringes of the galaxy was crippled by the Tok'ra Uprising and the rise of the Jaffa People's Republic. As these new pirates emerged the trade that the allies had preyed on began to die off as the Goa'uld lost the ability to protect their convoys as mutinies and Jaffa revolts tore through the Goa'uld Empire. Anubis tried several times to crush the independent pirates but for every hundred ships he crushed a thousand more appeared. His methods alienated the people and his methods of torturing the pirates in full view of their families only radicalized them. All the while the allies struck again and again against the dying empire he controlled and there was nothing that Anubis could do save for the Nuclear Option.

As the Goa'uld Empire collapsed into a blazing inferno their many enemies took the chance to rise up against the decrepit empire that Anubis controlled. The first of these was the Tok'ra Uprising across the western fringe of the galaxy. Led by one Selmak the uprising managed to secure around ten planets in the Boreal cluster where they formally declared the Goa'uld Republic which in reality was just an allied puppet becoming the second of the post Goa'uld War states that danced to humanities tune. To counter this on the far side of the galaxy the Jaffa People's Republic struck from their lair with fire, fury, and bloodshed. Capturing around seven worlds the state immediately subjected the planets to the harsh industrialization programs that their capital of Marx had suffered through. With their rise the Goa'uld Empire now had both their ancient enemies coming out of the woodwork and the rise of near-genocidal revolutionaries. The Goa'uld Empire was in a very bad shape all that was needed for the Nuclear Option from Anubis was another catastrophe and Operation Gauntlet would provide just that.
