"Yuki…I'm sorry…"
Shuichi's head was throbbing even in his dreams as he slept, and his nightmares were on a constant cycle. He thought maybe he would be stuck in his horrid dreams forever, but soon the faint sound of beeping began to seep into his mind to break up the darkness. He wasn't sure at first if it was even real, but the slow steady beep was soon joined by the feeling of cold air against his cheeks and the distinct smell of rubbing alcohol and fresh linens. Finally, the world around him brought his mind out of his dreams and his eyes slowly fluttered open. It was then that he found himself in what he was sure was a hospital room. He let out a small groan as all the pain came rushing over him all at once.
"Shuichi? You're awake! Jeez...about time. I've been worried sick you know." The tall brunette chimed as he stood from the chair that had been his home this whole time.
"N-Ngh…Hiro? Where…what happened?" Shuichi replied as he started to come around more and finally turned his head to see his friend looking over at him in a mixture of concern and relief.
"You don't remember anything?"
"Not really. My heads really fuzzy…but I feel awful."
"Yeah well that's no surprise. You really took a beating…" Hiro replied with a soft sigh; hating to see Shuichi like this. "It was that Taki Aizawa…he caught you in the parking garage and well..."
That was enough to send all the memories rushing back to Shuichi with force. He recalled every moment now; every smell and every horrid sensation. His eyes shot wide and he suddenly shot up to a seat in the bed, only to be forced back down from the pain and soreness.
"Y-Yuki! Where is Yuki?! Is he ok?!" He exclaimed in a panic, causing Hiro to sigh heavily.
"He isn't here Shu. He checked himself out a couple days ago. You've been passed out for two days."
"Is he ok?!"
"Yeah he is fine. Just a bruise really."
"I have to go see him! Give me a ride Hiro." The singer replied as he tossed the blanket off and nearly flung himself out of the bed but was quickly crumpled by his injuries and pain.
"Whoa! I don't think so idiot!" Hiro exclaimed as he caught the smaller boy and got him back into bed. "The doctor says you need to rest a couple more days…they messed you up pretty good."
"I have to go find Yuki! Gimme your phone!"
"Its no use. I already tried calling to give him a piece of my mind, but no answer. No one has seen him since he left you here. Even his editor was up here asking about him; apparently, she can't get ahold of him either. So just worry about getting better first, then you can go find him if you really want."
"But he is probably mad at me! I have to talk to him!"
"No, you don't Shu. It can wait."
The two bickered for a short while before Hiro finally managed to get his friend to calm down enough to agree to stay in bed until he recovered. Once the initial drama faded away, Hiro was able to relax a bit and attempted to get some more information about what had happened, but Shuichi was reluctant to give up any more than vague responses. As the afternoon went by, the two friends eventually went about their more usual talk and relaxed banter in hopes of lifting the mood, even if only slightly. It wasn't until later in the evening that Shuichi perked up from his meal that had been delivered by the nurse.
"Oh! Hiro, would you mind running to NG to get my bag? I left it in the studio and it has my wallet."
"Really? Do you need it?"
"Well I'm going to need it eventually and I don't know when I'll be back to work." Hiro gave a long sigh and rolled his eyes with a small smile.
"Fine; but only because you're all busted up. You gonna be ok for a little bit while I'm gone?"
"Yeah, ill be fine. Thank you, Hiro, for everything."
Hiro gave a warm smile to that and then grabbed his helmet before slipping from the room. Shuichi relaxed just a little, but as soon as he was sure enough time had passed, he began to hurriedly pull out the various IV's and sensors, so he could force himself out of bed and over to his clothes that had been neatly folded on a nearby chair. It took him a moment to find his footing enough to get himself into his clothes, but with a bit of effort and a deal of pain, he managed. Once dressed, he poked his head from the door of his room and then slipped out and down the hallway as best he could. He made his way on slightly shaky legs down to the lobby and into a taxi that he instructed towards the home of the broody blonde.
It was a ten or so minute ride until the car stopped in front of the large home and let Shuichi out onto the curb. Now that he was had arrived, his panic began to set back in and he rushed as best he could to the door and began to bang on the hard wood with all the strength he could muster.
"Yuki! Open up! Are you ok?! Please let me in Yuki!"
He called through the door in vein until moving along the house and over to a window where he kept up his banging and desperate calls. Minutes passed, and no sign of the blonde appeared. With each passing moment, Shuichi became more panicked and desperate, but his body simply couldn't keep up and he soon collapsed panting on the mans doorstep with tears running down his cheeks that stung the fresh wounds there.
"Y-Yuki…please…" He mumbled into the stillness of the night that had closed in on him, until a few minutes more when the still of the night was broken by the sound of the front door creaking open.
"Go away idiot."
"Yuki! Please let me in!" He chimed as he forced himself back onto his feet until he was face to face with the rather disheveled looking novelist with the distinct smell of alcohol on his breath.
"No. Go away."
"I'm not leaving! Let me in!"
The panic-stricken singer was hell bent on gaining entry to the mans home, so used the last of his strength to push his body against the door until it flung open and sent him and Yuki tumbling to the floor inside.
"Angh! Damn brat!"
"I'm sorry Yuki! Please don't kick me out! Are you ok?! What did Taki do to you?!"
"Nothing! Shut up damn it!"
Shuichi was sure that the whole ordeal had already cost Yuki his career, so he now broke out into heavy sobs and cries as Yuki pulled himself back up onto his feet to look down at the boy with his usual scowl.
"I'm sorry Yuki! W-We can still save you career! Ill tell everyone that I don't know you at all! Ill do whatever you want!" He sobbed pathetically, causing Yuki to growl in frustration.
"As if anyone would believe you anyway."
"I'll make them! I promise! And ill leave NG like Taki wanted!" Shuichi cried as he barely managed to haul himself back onto his feet and slumped to lean against a wall slightly to help support his weight.
"Don't be stupid. Just go home already. I'm already sick of hearing your voice."
"No! I won't! I won't go!"
Meanwhile, Hiro had just arrived back at the hospital and realized that Shuichi was nowhere to be found. He quickly rushed out of the room to the nurse in a panic.
"Hey! Where did Shuichi go? He isn't in his room."
"Oh! Mr. Shindou? He left about an hour ago. He said he was checking himself out."
"What?! You let him go?! Damn it! Did he say where he was going?!"
"Um…no sir. He simply left muttering about Mr. Yuki. I assume the one he checked in with."
"Yuki? Of course. Was Yuki here?"
"No sir. I haven't seen him since the day they checked in and I had to ask him to leave 's room."
"He…he was in his room? Did he do something to him?"
"I don't think so. But when he left, he seemed really upset. I think he may have been crying…poor man."
"Tch…poor Yuki my ass." Hiro huffed before thanking the nurse and swiftly heading out to hop back onto his bike where he sped from the parking lot.
Back at Yuki's, Yuki only grew more and more frustrated with the bickering that only kept them going in circles. Shuichi on the other hand, was growing more and more desperate for some sort of progress or acceptance of his apologies; terrified of losing Yuki or ruining things for him.
"You should have left Yuki! I told you to run away! Why didn't you?!" Shuichi cried. Yuki growled as he finished yet another drink and he seemed to have had enough of the spunky singer for one evening.
"I wouldn't have even been there if it wasn't for you! Maybe if you could just learn to keep your damn mouth shut, you wouldn't end up in situations like that!"
"That's not fair! I didn't do anything!"
"And then you drag me into it and make things worse! You know he may have gone easier on you if you had just shut up and stopped trying to save me! Or whatever goes through your head! Maybe if you would have stopped begging about me, he would have let you go!" The mans outburst struck a cord within the singer and his demeanor softened considerably.
"Y-Yuki…I was just trying to get them to leave you alone…I'm sorry. Why did you freeze like that? Why didn't you just run…?"
"Shut up! Stop asking me so many damn questions!"
"But Yuki…."
"Ngh...enough!" Yuki growled as he slammed his glass down hard on the small table at his side.
Shuichi then opened his mouth to speak once more but stopped himself when he noticed an odd shift in the mans expression. He wasn't sure if Yuki was just drunk or if he was madder than ever, but he was sure that he smiling as he smoothed back his soft blonde hair. He then even heard a small chuckle before Yuki turned to grin at him in an eerie sort of way. It was only a split second then, and the next thing Shuichi knew, Yuki had pinned him rather roughly up against the wall.
"Ahn! Yuki! That hurts!"
"I don't care. I have a new idea…I think maybe you liked what Taki did to you…" He sneered in a low and slightly teasing tone.
"W-what?! No, I didn't!"
"I don't believe you. Is that what gets you off then? Being controlled…being forced to behave…" The blonde purred much more wickedly as he took Shuichi's wrists in one hand and held them above his head. He used his free hand to roughly push up the boys shirt so he could run a hand along his soft skin that was still adorned with various bruises and cuts.
"M-Mngh…Yuki…stop it…" Shuichi mumbled softly with a racing heart. He had no idea why this was happening all of a sudden and had no clue how to respond. His body however, reacted seemingly on its own and he began to feel warm as his head grew fuzzy.
"No. I won't. If force is what it takes to get you to shut up…then so be it."
"What do you mean?! Stop it!" He cried as he tried to struggle against the stronger man, hoping it would jar him from this state he was in. That hope was quickly dashed however, when Yuki suddenly dove a hand into his shorts to roughly grab and grope at his member.
"AAhngh! Y-Yuki! Let me go! Stop it!" He cried as he began to struggle as much as he could, even though the sensation made him harden fully. His mind now raced along with his heart as he realized he was no match for Yuki and could only whimper and whine as the man began to kiss and nip hungrily at the side of his neck.
Shuichi hardly any more time to think about what he was going to do about this situation, when suddenly he felt Yuki's weight ease off him, causing him to collapse to the floor against the wall. His head shot up to see what had happened, and that was when he saw that Hiro was there and had yanked Yuki off of him.
"Hiro!"
"Get out of here! This is none of your business!" Yuki growled to the brunette once he had regained his footing.
"I'll leave, but not without Shuichi. And you better keep your hands off him! He should be at the hospital right now, but here he is with you as always!"
"Take the damn brat with you then. He won't leave me alone and he is getting really annoying." Yuki's response made Hiro growl and clench his fists before abruptly landing a knee hard into Yuki's gut, sending him doubled over in pain onto his knees on the floor.
"Hiro! Don't hurt him!" Shuichi chimed as he tried and failed to get onto his feet, leaving him only able to watch Hiro as he scowled down to Yuki.
"You really are a prick you know! All Shuichi ever does is worry and care about you! He is all getting messed up for you, and all you do is brush him off!"
"H-heh…you take him then…" Yuki managed to sneer in return.
"You're really pitiful Eiri Yuki…" With that, Hiro carefully gathered Shuichi into his arms to carry him outside, despite his protests and weak struggle to reach out to Yuki.
"Hiro let me stay! Please! Yuki is hurt!" Hiro could then only sigh as he gently set the crying boy onto the bike and got him safely settled.
"Shuichi…I think Yuki may have done worse to you than what Taki did." He said as he took his own place on the bike and started the engine. Shuichi sniffled and finally let his body relax against Hiro's.
"Don't say mean things about Yuki, Hiro…"
Once the bike had sped off into the night, Yuki recovered from his pain and stumbled to slam the door before slumping back into his office chair where he had been for those two days. He poured himself another drink and slowly slipped back into his own waking nightmares. Images and memories flooded his mind until he couldn't think clearly anymore. Memories of his own past began to mix and intertwine with memories of Shuichi face down on the concrete ground calling his name through his tears. The scenes played over and over again in his head until even the alcohol couldn't keep his pain at bay and he slipped off into yet another night of restless sleep with his demons, old and new.
