When Adriana beamed up to the Watchtower that morning, she was expecting it to go like any other day since she joined the Justice League, that changed when she was called into briefing room by Claudia and found Green Arrow, Black Canary and Superman waiting for her.
"Guys, what's this about?" Adriana asked as she glanced around the room trying to get a read on the other heroes' faces but to no avail until Green Arrow spoke up.
"I think you know what this is about Adriana." Green Arrow responded and Adriana gave him a confused look. "You've been caught lying about League Assignments multiple times as excuses to go out at night, on its own that wouldn't be something that we'd be able to overlook but there's also those drugs Claudia found in your room and told the League about."
"Drugs?!" Adriana asked as she did several dozen double takes. "You can't honestly believe that I'm on drugs, can you?!"
"I didn't want to believe it either." Claudia sighed as she walked up to her younger sister. "But whilst you were out last night, I found the drugs in your room, I did the right thing by telling the League."
"Again, what drugs?!" Adriana demanded as she got progressively angrier. "Claudia, you know our family's history with drugs better than anyone else in the room aside from me, how can you honestly believe that I'd even consider taking them?!"
"You mean these drugs?" Black Canary asked as she passed Adriana a picture of the drugs found in her room. "The bag Claudia found them in is being dusted for fingerprints as we speak Adriana, don't make this any harder for yourself and come clean."
"I am coming clean with you and I'm telling you, I'm not on drugs!" Adriana insisted as she glared at the other heroes. "Wonder Woman has that lasso of truth, right? Have her use that thing on me, that should clear my name faster than those fingerprint tests."
"If she was available, she'd be in the room with us for that purpose." Superman chimed in and Adriana turned to him. "But she's out on League busines and won't be back until next week, and right now you have three options, submit to a urine test and take a few days off from the League, refuse and be asked to leave or just to tell us the truth, I understand that your angry about this but Claudia's concerned about you, we all are….."
"I'm not just angry, I'm fucking insulted!" Adriana spat as she folded her arms. "Our cousin was killed in a drug deal gone bad, if anything I have every reason to not take drugs!" Adriana added before letting out a deep breath. "But if it'll get you off my back, I'll submit to the damn urine test, but when it comes back clean, I expect an apology from all of you."
"And you'll get it, but only if it comes back clean." Superman nodded with a reassuring look, but it didn't seem to have much effect of the Mexican teen. "Regardless of the result, you are being put on the inactive roster for the next several days, standard procedure I'm afraid."
"Fine!" Adriana responded before storming off, Claudia bit her lip and ran after her twin sister and Green Arrow followed her.
"Addy, please, just understand that this is for your own good." Claudia pleaded with her younger sister and Adriana turned to her. "I wouldn't have done this without reason."
"Reason?! I was arguably closer to Jose than you before he was killed, and you pull this crap?!" Adriana demanded as she went off on her way, Claudia went to reach out to her younger sister at which point Adriana swatted her hand away. "¡Aléjate de mí, maldita perra!" Adriana snapped at her sister before storming off and leaving Claudia speechless.
"Do I even want to know what she just said to you?" Green Arrow asked once he saw the look on Claudia's face and Claudia turned to him whilst wiping some tears away with the sleeve of her costume's top.
"She just said "stay away from me, you fucking bitch!"." Claudia responded as she wiped a few more tears away at which point Green Arrow handed her a tissue. "We've argued before, comes with the territory of being siblings I guess, but this is the first time it ever got this nasty." Claudia added as she wiped away a few tears. "Even if that damn test comes clean, I'll have a long way to go before I can mend the relationship with her."
"She'll come around, as angry as she is, she's not about to throw away her relationship with you like that." Green Arrow assured her, and Claudia let out a deep breath. "But if the test does come clean and those drugs aren't hers, how did they end up in her room?!"
"I don't know, I hate drugs almost as much as Addy does, for the exact same reasons to boot." Claudia responded as she let out a deep breath. "Either way, I think I'll be better off giving her some breathing room whilst we wait on the results, hardest part will be hiding this fight from Mom and Dad."
"We'll think of something, in the meantime we'll start your training when you're feeling up to it." Green Arrow responded and Claudia nodded before following him to the training room.
*an hour later*
Adriana would've normally spent a lot more time at the Watchtower but once she had given her urine sample to be tested she didn't want to hang around instead asking J'onn to beam her back home which he complied having seen the argument between Adriana and Claudia.
Once Adriana was home she wasted no time in removing her mask and throwing it into the laundry bin alongside the rest of her costume and getting changed into her day clothes, once she had put her top on however the words that had been spoken during the argument came flooding back to her and it took a moment for her to process it.
Once she had processed it, she sobbed uncontrollably for the next ten minutes. "Claudia's my twin sister, we've literally been through everything together!" Adriana thought as she sat at the edge of her bed and cried into her hands. "And I potentially just threw that out the window over a fucking misunderstanding! Why didn't I tell my closest friends in the League that I was gay from the start?! It's not like they don't keep enough secrets up there!" Adriana thought before running both hands down her face, it was then that she spotted her iPhone sitting beside her laptop and grabbed it without a second thought. "I know Rachel said that she'd call me if I could come over, but I need to be away from Claudia for a while and going to mom and dad would raise too many questions." Adriana thought as she waited for Rachel to pick up on the video call.
"Hey Addy!" Rachel's voice rang out from the phone as the redhead appeared on screen and Adriana sighed.
"Her Rach, can I come over for a few hours?" Adriana asked and Rachel frowned.
"Addy, I said I'd call you when…..." Rachel trailed off when she saw how upset her girlfriend was and stopped herself midsentence. "What happened?"
"Me and Claudia had an argument, a nasty one." Adriana responded as she ran a hand through her hair. "I'll go into detail later, but right now, I need to be away from Claudia for a while, this isn't about sex, just me needing someone to vent my frustrations too before I take them out on some poor, unsuspecting criminal."
"Don't worry, I understand completely." Rachel nodded in understanding and Adriana grinned. "The argument wasn't about your sexuality, right?"
"No, but it was kinda related to it, because of some planted drugs and a misunderstanding regarding my cover stories, the League thinks that I've been taking hard drugs, specifically cocaine." Adriana explained and Rachel lowered her head in response. "It's gotten to the point where they've forced me to do a piss test and taken me off the active roster, not really in the mood to go out as Lo Divino either, so are you free?"
"Let me check." Rachel responded before checking her schedule. "You're in luck, my next shoot isn't until the middle of next week, unisex swimwear catalogue, probably the most time I'll ever spend around men who aren't wearing that much now that I think about it, after that I have an OnlyFans vid to shoot with Brittany and Alex, so yeah, feel free to come over, and I know you said that it isn't about sex but, well, you never know."
"Who knows? Maybe sex is what I need to unwind after that argument?" Adriana admitted with a shrug before glancing over at the laundry basket. "I'll have Uber pick me up outside my apartment, my Lo Divino costume is about to go in the wash."
"You'd think Superheroes would keep more than one copy of their costume for cases like that." Rachel chuckled and Adriana shook her head.
"I do, it's just that all my other copies of my Lo Divino costume are also in the wash." Adriana explained as she fiddled with her hair. "Perils of a Superhero's life, you'd be surprised at how many costumes I go through on a given week when on assignment."
"I'm a model, remember? I go through at least ten outfits in a day if I'm on a shoot!" Rachel pointed out with a laugh which managed to brighten Adriana's mood a bit. "Don't worry about the Uber, I'll call it for you and pay for it myself, just text me your address."
"Thanks, I appreciate it." Adriana sighed as she stood up. "See you at your apartment."
"See you then." Rachel responded before hanging up, Adriana wasted no time in texting Rachel her address and once it was sent, she left her room.
"I'm still pissed at Claudia and the League for even thinking that I might be on drugs." Adriana thought with a sigh as she left the apartment that she shared with her twin sister. "But maybe some time with my girlfriend is what I need!"
"two days later*
Adriana was still waiting for the test results to come back but in that time, she had refused to talk to Claudia and hadn't even gone out as Lo Divino since she was put on the League's inactive roster.
"I was trying to be discreet about my lesbian status, instead I got into a huge argument with Claudia and before I knew it, I'm off the active roster pending my drug test results!" Adriana thought with an annoyed sigh as she sat down in front of her laptop, it was early in the evening and Adriana was going through her Facebook wall before she decided on what she wanted for dinner though the incident with Claudia hadn't left her with any motivation to cook anything, hence why she had been ordering takeout since she was last on the Watchtower.
It was at that point that she spotted something that definitely wasn't by her laptop when she left for the shops that morning, namely a blank CD with her name written on it, her curiosity peaked she logged into her laptop and inserted the CD into the drive, when she opened the file within she found a video and clicked on it. "Adriana, please come quick, he's going to kill me if you don't!"
"Rachel?!" Adriana gasped as she recognised her bound girlfriend whilst the camera panned out to show her bound to her computer chair, but before Rachel could say anything else duct tape was placed over her mouth by a male hand, at which point a familiar figure stepped forward. "Turner D. Century?!"
"Well, well, this is an interesting twist in the tale, isn't it?" Turner asked rhetorically as he walked around Rachel. "The beaner falls in love with the slut, I'm afraid this is where your little love story ends Lo Divino, you know where your girlfriend's apartment is and I want you to be here, I left this little message for you at seven o'clock in the evening, that gives you an hour from now to get here before something unfortunate happens to your girlfriend."
"Bastardo!" Adriana growled in Spanish as the video ended before she glanced at the clock, fortunately Turner D. Century has left the message for her twenty minutes ago giving her plenty of time to get ready. Once she had gotten changed into her Lo Divino costume Adriana paused as she glanced up towards a picture of the twin sisters on vacation. "Claudia, I hope the bridge between us isn't burned beyond repair, we may fight a lot, but you've been there for me in my darkest times." Adriana thought with a sigh before she stood up and went straight to the window. "If I involve the League, I'll basically be outing myself as lesbian before I am ready, J'onn already knows but I can't risk it!" Adriana thought as she flew out the open window. "I have to do this on my own! Hold on Rachel, I'm coming!"
*ten minutes later*
When Claudia returned to the apartment that she shared with Adriana, the eldest of the twins was still wrecked with guilt over the argument that they had, still she was feeling hungry and went to the apartment's kitchen to cook up something.
"Should I try to talk to her?" Claudia thought as she glanced towards the door to Adriana's room, she investigated the fridge and let out a relieved sigh. "At least she isn't angry enough to neglect the weekly food shop! Let's see, fresh whole chicken, some steak, come on, where's the vegan stuff?" Claudia thought before she heard her ringtone, "Beyond the Burning Skies" by Battle Beast which the twins pretty much considered to be their theme song for when they were out as Lo Divino and El Sombre, go off and answered it. "Hola."
"Claudia, it's Green Arrow, I would say "is Adriana home?" but the real question is "are you two on speaking terms yet?"." Green Arrow asked and Claudia shook her head before pulling it out of the fridge.
"She hasn't spoken to me since, well, you know." Claudia responded with a sad sigh as she closed the fridge door. "Hell, I haven't seen her emerge from her room since the argument, only real time I've seen her is when she's either hungry or at dinner and the moment she sees me is the moment she takes her food into her room."
"We knew she wasn't going to take the accusations well I just never thought her response would be "shutting herself off from the world"." Green Arrow responded with a sigh and Claudia nodded. "There haven't been any reports of Lo Divino in action since she was last at the Watchtower, so it seems to me like she's become a complete shut in."
"Unfortunately, that's usually how Addy deals with stressful situations, her response is to just shut herself off from the world and deal with it on her own." Claudia sighed as she glanced towards her sister's room. "If it weren't for me, she would've become a complete shut in after Jose's death, that hit our family hard but Adriana especially."
"The argument's really taken a toll on you, hasn't it?" Green Arrow asked and Claudia nodded with a sad sigh.
"It's far from our first argument, what with us being siblings and all, but it's definitely the worst and even if that drug test comes back clean, I'm not sure if I can break through to her this time." Claudia added before glancing back at the fridge. "She's at least considerate enough to do the shopping whilst I'm on the Watchtower but I'm not sure if she got any vegan food for me."
"If not, I'll pick you up some stuff on the way home, just text me a list of what you need." Green Arrow responded with a nod and Claudia grinned. "Don't worry about Addy, she can't stay mad at you forever and sooner or later, you will make amends."
"I know but I want her to do it on her own, which is why I haven't involved our parents." Claudia responded as she played with her hair. "Beyond the possible drug addiction, if I do involve our parents, things will get heated fast as their solution is to try to force their way through to her."
"As if things weren't heated enough already, I take it it's a safe bet that Addy hasn't been contacting your parents?" Green Arrow asked and Claudia nodded with "mmhmm" sound. "Well, I have some good news for Adriana at least, the drug test came back clean and the fingerprints found on the sandwich bag that had the cocaine in it weren't hers." Green Arrow added and Claudia breathed a massive sigh of relief.
"Wait, why aren't you telling Adriana this?" Claudia asked as red flags went off inside her head. "I may have reported the drugs, but it was Adriana who took the test."
"I tried her number first and she's not answering her calls, I think she's just mad at the Justice League in general." Green Arrow responded and Claudia's frown deepened. "But back to the drugs you found in her room, here's the weird part, remember Turner D. Century?"
"Si, I heard that he was broken out of jail before Adriana's ambush but hasn't been seen since then, and given his fashion sense or lack thereof, you'd think he'd be easy to spot in a crowd." Claudia nodded as she made her way to her sister's room. "What? Are you going to say that his fingerprints were on the pill bottle?"
"Are you sure that mind reading isn't one of your powers? Because that's exactly the case." Green Arrow responded and Claudia blinked a few times as it sunk in. "The Avengers had his fingerprints on file from when he was originally murdered, Cap was kind enough to send them over and they are a perfect match."
"That raises more questions than answers, but I have some news to give Addy if you excuse me." Claudia responded before she knocked on the door. "Adriana, it's me, are you ready to talk?" Claudia called out but got no answer. "Addy, I know your upset with me, but you can't ignore me forever! We're roommates for Christ's sake!" Claudia added but once again, she got no response, at which point Claudia tried the knob, when the door opened, she saw the completely empty room. "Arrow, Adriana's left, looks like she went out the window, likely in the Lo Divino costume."
"I hope she hasn't gone out to do some crime fighting, doing that whilst angry is never a good idea." Green Arrow responded with a frown as Claudia looked around the room. "Maybe she went out to buy you some rabbit food?"
"Funny." Claudia responded sarcastically as she rolled her eyes before noticing that Adriana had left her laptop open and it was currently in screensaver mode, Claudia moved the mouse around a bit and once the screen came on, she saw the video. "Arrow, something's wrong, she left her laptop open before leaving, she's not as technically savvy as me but she knows better than to leave it like that."
"Do you see anything on the screen?" Green Arrow asked and Claudia sat down.
"Just a video in Windows Media Player, doesn't look like what she'd typically watch so I'll put you on speaker so you can hear it." Claudia responded before doing so and hitting play, once the video ended Claudia's jaw was on the floor. "Oh my god, we had the wrong idea all along." Claudia realised as it dawned on her. "I pissed off my own twin sister for nothing."
"She wasn't hiding her drug addiction, in fact that was never a drug addiction in the first place, she was hiding that she is in a lesbian relationship." Green Arrow responded as it hit him like a ton of bricks. "Why didn't she say so earlier? The league would've happily kept her secret until she was ready, and for that matter, how long has this been going on for?!"
"I don't know, maybe she was scared of how people would react to her coming out as gay, you know how bad her anxiety can get." Claudia reasoned as she ran a hand through her hair. "I always told her that she could tell me anything, if she had just remembered that all of this could've been avoided."
"That still wouldn't have explained the drugs in her room." Green Arrow pointed out and Claudia frowned. "And we still don't know how long she's been keeping this lie going." Green Arrow added and Claudia paused.
"Her performance issues started shortly after mom and dad were found, so at least two weeks." Claudia responded before she stood up promptly. "Arrow, meet me outside the apartment, Turner D. Century might be a joke but he's still dangerous and has a hostage, who knows what he has planned for Adriana."
"Do you even know where this Rachel's apartment is?" Green Arrow asked and Claudia shook her head.
"No, and we share the same circle of friends in our civilian lives, so if she were dating a woman we were mutual friends with I definitely would've noticed." Claudia responded as she shook her head before getting a closer look at Rachel's face. "That said, I recognise her as one of the women Adriana saved during The Juggernaut's recent rampage though, I've heard of love at first site but that's ridiculous." Claudia responded before getting an idea. "Addy still has her earpiece, right?"
"Last I checked, yeah, though I don't think she's ready to talk to you just yet." Green Arrow responded before he got the idea. "You want J'onn to track it's signal."
"Basically yeah." Claudia nodded as she went over to her room. "No need to get the League involved for a low level threat like Turner D. Century but his assistance will be needed."
"Got it, I'll see if Black Canary wants to come along as well." Green Arrow nodded as Claudia started getting changed into her El Sombre costume. "We owe your sister one hell of an apology."
"Let's worry about finding her first, at least then we can think up different variations of the phrase "I'm sorry" for when we do catch up to her." Claudia responded as she got her costume on. "And let's hope that it's not too late."
*twenty minutes later*
Adriana wasted no time in arriving at Rachel's apartment and saw two thugs standing guard outside her girlfriend's apartment.
"Can't help but wonder what her neighbours think of this." Adriana thought as she ran towards the thugs who looked up just as she threw a white beam of light at the nearest thug sending him careening into the other thug, she ran straight up the still conscious thug and grabbed him by the collar. "Where is he?!"
"In there." The thug groaned as he pointed to the door and Adriana knocked him out with a punch before entering the apartment, sure enough Turner D. Century was standing there next to her bound and gagged girlfriend.
"Can't find good help these days, even in a different dimension." Turner D. Century sighed to himself as Adriana glared daggers at him. "But you arrived on time, your parents must be so proud."
"Shut up!" Adriana growled as she glared at the Supervillain. "Your beef is with me, why involve her Turner?"
"Illegals coming over and stealing our jobs, homosexuality running rampant, it's the same problem really." Turner D. Century responded, and Adriana went to pounce on him. "Don't bother, the moment you lay a finger on me is the moment your girlfriend goes up in flames."
"What do you want Turner?!" Adriana growled as she eased up and the villain scoffed.
"I want you to acknowledge your crimes against this great nation." Turner D. Century responded as he grinned sadistically. "Then maybe I'll let her go."
"What do you want me to admit?!" Adriana demanded as her eyes narrowed. "That I wasn't born in this country? I told you before, my family came over legally!" Adriana spat as she kept her gaze focussed on Turner. "I'm waiting."
"I'm afraid that's not good enough." Turner responded as he pointed his umbrella at Rachel. "And we both know what you need to say to set things right."
"You want me to admit that I'm gay, right?!" Adriana demanded as her eyes narrowed not noticing the movement from outside the apartment as she said this. "Fine, I'm a lesbian, I've known that for two weeks now! Rachel is my girlfriend and she's helped me see me for who I am! I couldn't be happier whenever I'm around her and even after the League started to suspect me of using drugs, she stayed by my side!" Adriana said angrily as she wiped a tear away. "Are you happy? Are you going to let her go?!"
"I'm afraid not." Turner D. Century responded as he went to use his umbrella on Rachel. "Young love is a fleeting thing, but don't worry, I'm sure you'll get over it."
"That wasn't part of the deal Turner!" Adriana yelled at the villain as she clenched her fists and Turner D. Century laughed.
"Deal? All I said was MAYBE I'll let her go." Turner D. Century laughed as Adriana got ready to pounce. "You outed yourself for nothing, and now your girlfriend will pay the ultimate price, and in a moment the rest of my gang will come in to restrain you and force you to watch!"
"I'm afraid your buddies are already on their way to jail, and you're about to join them!" A new voice rang out and Adriana looked up just in time to see one of Green Arrow's net arrows whiz by her head and the next thing she knew Turner D. Century was pinned to the wall behind him by the net that emerged from the arrow. "You're going away for a long time dirtbag!" Green Arrow added as he, Claudia and Black Canary stepped into the room.
"But how?!" Turner D. Century demanded as he glared at the four heroes in front of him. "That message was for her ears only!" Turner added before Adriana flew up to him.
"You talk too much, even by Supervillain standards." Adriana responded before knocking Turner D. Century out with a headbutt, once the villain was out cold, she let out a deep breath before turning to the others and floating to the ground. "Two questions, how did you find this place and how much of that did you hear?"
"You left your laptop open, the moment I saw the message from Turner was the moment I knew I had to help, Green Arrow was already calling me and J'onn did help us by tracking your earpieces' signal." Claudia explained before she walked over to Rachel to start untying her. "From there, it was a matter of following you from a safe distance once we caught up with you. We couldn't risk Turner panicking and killing Rachel, hence why we let you go up alone." Claudia added before taking a deep breath. "And as for how much, we heard it all, the conversation with Turner, the vid, everything." Claudia added and Adriana's eyes widened as it hit her.
"Granted, that was mostly because you left your earpiece on which was how J'onn was able to track you." Green Arrow admitted as he walked over to the young Mexican woman. "But we arrived at the apartment just in time for your confession, you would've saved yourself a lot of headaches if you had just been honest with us from the start Adriana."
"Me especially." Claudia nodded in agreement as she continued untying Rachel. "Why didn't you just say that you were gay sooner sis?" Claudia asked as she glanced over at younger sister. "You know you can tell me anything right?"
"You? Maybe, our parents?" Adriana asked and it didn't take long for Claudia to realize what she meant. "Besides, there is one member of the League who does know, namely J'onn, he found that out when he probed my mind during our first session."
"And he didn't tell anyone out of respect for your privacy, right?" Green Arrow asked and Adriana nodded in response. "So, when were you planning to come out?"
"I was going to come out this weekend, once I had cooled down enough from our argument, I would've started with Claudia but, well, plans changed, that was the main cause of my anxiety attack, the fact that I let a perfect opportunity to come out as gay slip through my fingers." Adriana responded just before Rachel removed her gag and ran up before hugging her girlfriend, once they broke off the hug Adriana's mood soured. "And suspecting me of using drugs didn't help matters."
"We didn't suspect you we were just concerned that you were going down a dark path and your behaviour towards us whenever we questioned you didn't help matters." Green Arrow corrected her as he shook his head and Adriana lowered her head. "The good news is the test came back negative and the cocaine was proven to be planted by Turner D. Century and yeah, we know that we owe you a hell of an apology."
"Frankly, I'm just glad your girlfriend's safe but next time, try being honest with us and if another incident like this happens, try calling the League before you run off to save her." Black Canary chimed in and Adriana sighed before nodding reluctantly. "As he mentioned before we came in, Turner somehow had a whole squadron of thugs heading your way, it took us a good chunk of time to defeat them all." Black Canary responded and Adriana looked up. "As good as you are, that would've been too much for you to take on alone."
"I don't know, me trying to save my girlfriend. I think I could've taken them all." Adriana responded before Rachel walked up to her. "How are you feeling?"
"I'm shaken up, but I'll be fine." Rachel responded as she glanced over at Turner D. Century. "I was more concerned for you I know you said that he's a joke and I've seen your powers for myself, but I was still fearful for my life."
"I still would've been able to take them, just a question of how long I would've lasted before the cavalry arrived." Adriana responded as she motioned to the other heroes. "But the real question is, what are you going to do now? Turner D. Century knows where you live and there's nothing stopping him from breaking out and trying again."
"I've lived in this apartment since I moved here from San Francisco." Rachel responded with a sigh as she glanced around. "But I don't feel safe here, as soon as this place stops being a crime scene I'm moving out, I'll still be in the city but who knows? Maybe I'll get a bigger place and we'll move in together Addy" Rachel added, and Adriana grinned to indicate that she liked that idea.
"That's going to take time, and I don't want my sister's girlfriend living on the street." Claudia chimed in as she turned to the young couple. "We have a spare room in our apartment, you can stay there until you find a place of your own and if Addy's moving in with you then I don't think Green Arrow will mind helping with the costs." Claudia offered and Rachel readily agreed with that idea and Green Arrow nodded to indicate that he would do that. "And yeah, I am mostly doing this for my sister's sake, that said, part of the agreement we have with Green Arrow is that we contribute towards the rent and I bet he'll expect the same from you, do you have a job or something?"
"Yeah, I'm a model, fitness, beauty, fashion, OnlyFans account, that kind of thing." Rachel responded casually and Green Arrow started coughing loudly at that last bit whilst Claudia gave her a curious look. "I don't do anything too explicit on my OnlyFans account, just the occasional nudes and show with one or more of my friends, and no, Addy hasn't co-stared in any of those vids."
"I don't understand, what's OnlyFans?" Black Canary asked with a raised eyebrow and Green Arrow cleared his throat.
"It's a website mostly used by adult film stars and sex workers where their fans pay for content, or so I heard." Green Arrow responded as he shook his head. "Look, you do you but don't drag me or any other League members into it if word gets out about your OnlyFans account, Addy included, nothing against sex workers, just to make that clear, but I don't think the League needs that kind of publicity."
"Deal, now let's get out of here." Rachel nodded before they left the apartment, however the twins stayed behind a bit longer as Adriana turned to her older sister.
"Claudia, we need to talk, and we both know why." Adriana sighed as she turned to her older sister. "In fact, I don't even know where to start." Adriana sighed as she glanced at the floor. "For what it's worth, I've hated myself ever since I snapped at you back at the Watchtower and I've wanted to make things right, but I knew I had to cool off first."
"I know Addy, that's why I gave you the space you needed, like all the other times your shut yourself off from the world." Claudia nodded in understanding as she walked up to her younger sister. "That said, I knew you were going to take the accusations hard given what happened to Jose, but I didn't think you'd take it that hard, being called a fucking bitch by my own sister?" Claudia asked rhetorically and Adriana said nothing, only closing her eyes and nodding shamefully. "That broke my heart, you know that, right?"
"Why do you think I've been hating myself since that argument?" Adriana sighed as she wiped a tear away before opening her eyes again. "But being accused of taking drugs by my own family hurt even more, the only reason our parents don't know about this is because I knew they'd inadvertently make things worse, though I get the feeling you did the same thing?" Adriana asked and Claudia nodded. "In that case, can we at least agree to never mention that argument or the whole drug accusation thing to mom and dad?"
"Ironically enough, you've got no argument from me there, the last thing we need is more drama in our family." Claudia responded with a sigh and Adriana nodded. "I only wish you had told me sooner, about you and Rachel, we could've avoided all of this and more."
"Don't you think I know that? I was more concerned with how our parents would react than how you would react." Adriana pointed out before letting out a deep breath. "And since your letting Rachel stay with us, I'm guessing you're okay with me being a lesbian?"
"It's kind of bittersweet, knowing that if I do become an aunt, it's because you and Rachel adopted a kid or through other methods." Claudia admitted and Adriana nodded in understanding. "But in the end, that doesn't matter, the only thing that matters to me is if your happy and it was clear from your interactions with Rachel that you two are crazy for each other, so yeah, so long as Rachel doesn't become a Supervillain or something like that, I'm happy for you two and I have no problem with supporting you when you do come out of the closet."
"Thanks Claudia." Adriana responded with a grin and Claudia nodded. "You're not still mad over the argument, right?"
"As nasty as the argument was, you are my twin sister, nothing will change that and it's like we said when we started our careers, it's us against the world no matter what." Claudia responded and Adriana let out a deep breath. "It's a cliché but it's true, blood is thicker than water and I'm sorry for never believing your side of the story Addy."
"And I'm sorry for calling you a fucking bitch, I never should've said that in the first place, but my mind was so full of anger at the time that I couldn't think straight, when I did return home after the argument I cried for a good few minutes before I asked Rachel if I could come over." Adriana apologized before the twin sisters shared a quick embrace. "I think it's well overdue that I come out of the closet."
"Like I said, you have my support." Claudia assured her with a nod before they left Rachel's apartment.
*a few days later*
It had been a few days since Adriana had been forced out of the closet and with her sister's encouragement she had decided to come out publicly via Facebook live with Rachel, Rachel's apartment had gone up for sale almost as quickly as the police were done with it as a crime scene and Tuner D. Century was off to jail.
"I feel like such a fucking idiot in hindsight." Adriana admitted as she got the livestream ready, she was in her room with Rachel and Claudia and the two other women were waiting for her to start the stream. "If I had just told the league from the start, this would've been a lot less painful." Adriana added as she signed into her laptop. "Have you told mom and dad?"
"No, I figured it was better if they learned it from you." Claudia responded as she shook her head and Adriana grinned. "I talked to Supes yesterday, by Monday you'll be back on the active roster, and that you have the League's support in coming out as gay, same goes with the Avengers and Cap."
"Tell them I said thanks." Adriana responded before she turned to her girlfriend, Rachel and Adriana shared a quick kiss before Adriana got the stream ready.
"You ready to do this Addy?" Rachel asked her girlfriend and Adriana let out a deep breath before nodding.
"I'm ready." Adriana responded before she logged into her Lo Divino account and make the announcement via her official Facebook page. "Hola, Lo Divino here, in my civilian garb as Adriana Alverez." Adriana stated once she started the livestream. "I know there has been a lot of rumours circling around regarding my standing with the Justice League and that I may or may not be on drugs, first off, I want to state for the record that I have never even thought about doing drugs and that the drug test came back clean but I do have an announcement to make." Adriana added as Rachel stepped into view. "A few weeks ago, whilst I was on League business, I met Rachel here, she has been such a positive force in my life and is here encouraging me in this announcement."
"What she means to say is, I've helped her discover things that she didn't even know about herself." Rachel chimed in as she leaned closer to her girlfriend and Adriana grinned.
"Translated: Rachel is my girlfriend, and as of this moment, I'm officially coming out as a lesbian." Adriana stated and to punctuate this, the two women shared a quick but passionate kiss, once they were done, they watched the reactions began pouring in and to Adriana's relief the reaction was largely positive save for a couple of trolls who were dealt with by her mods. "As for who else knew before this stream, the regulars at Club 95 for one but my sister Claudia AKA El Sombre also knows as do a few other League members who I won't name just yet, thanks for the support and just remember, doesn't matter if I'm gay, I'm still the same hero as I was before." Adriana added before ending the live stream and immediately posting it.
"Not even five minutes and at least ten Star City news sites are reporting it." Rachel chuckled as she checked her phone. "Won't be long until they go National with this, babe."
"I hope so." Adriana responded as she glanced over at Rachel. "By the way, I know you've got your modelling career and the OnlyFans account but does the public know that your gay?"
"It's been rumoured among my fans, based purely on the fact that I haven't done a scene with any male partners." Rachel responded with a shrug. "I don't mind honestly but my only concern is a possible drop in male fans."
"You have heard the comments from Marco, Pierre and Travis, right? With the way they've been asking for pictures I think it might double." Adriana joked before Claudia got a text on her phone and checked it.
"Dad just texted me, he says that he and mom are coming over." Claudia explained and Adriana gulped. "I think they've seen the news."
"I knew I should've called them first." Adriana sighed and Claudia shook her head.
"No matter what happens, I'll be there for you." Claudia assured her and Adriana grinned before Claudia got another text. "Green Arrow's coming over as well, said something about a "coming out party", whatever that is." Claudia added and Adriana's grin grew wider.
"Well, that'll lighten the mood at least." Adriana sighed and Claudia nodded in agreement.

Tuner D. Century sat in a county jail awaiting trial for the breakout, kidnapping and attempted murder charges alongside the rest of his gang not realising what fate was about to befall him.
"I've never been so humiliated!" Turner growled as he heard footsteps approaching his cell. "Made to look like a joke twice by the damn archer, this Green Arrow will rule the day that he…..."
"Turner, make no mistake." A new voice rang out and Turner looked up seeing a guard at the door. "You have always been a joke."
"You dare insult me?!" Turner D. Century demanded as he marched up to the cell doors. "As soon as I break out of here you will be my first…..." Turner trailed off as Target dropped the disguise via the image inducer. "Target? Excellent! No doubt here to free your fellow member of the Legion of Doom."
"You were never a member of the Legion of Doom, Lex Luthor laughed at you behind your back when you left to enact your scheme to get back at Lo Divino." Target responded and the smile on Turner D. Century's face disappeared. "You are a fool, a man who seeks the return of an era he was not alive for, your so called "glory days", before the first and second world wars, someone like you would've been eaten alive back then."
"Shut up!" Turner D. Century demanded as he glared at Target. "Are you going to break me out of this prison or not?"
"Not." Target responded and Turner went pale when he heard that. "Do you remember how you were originally murdered?"
"Yes, at the Bar with No Name in Medina County, Ohio, by the Scourge of the Underworld…..." Turner trailed off as the truth behind Target's visit hit him like a ton of bricks. "No! No! Give me another chance and I'll…..."
"Fail miserably, just like at everything else in your life." Target interrupted Turner as he pulled his light machine gun on him. "Lex Luthor sent me to silence you Turner, and to send a message that the Legion does not tolerate failure from non-members looking to join. Your time in this world is up Turner and this time? No one will bring you back." Target added before he emptied an entire around into Turner's chest, the so-called Supervillain stood no chance of survival by the time Target's gun was emptied Turner D. Century sat dead, slumped against the cell wall in a pool of his own blood. "Justice is served, Turner D. Century."
*twenty minutes later*
The news that Adriana and Rachel had come out as a lesbian couple had been spreading like wildfire in the short time that it had been announced and much like the reactions to the announcement video the reaction was largely positive with many other superheroes from the League and elsewhere voicing their support and with the negative comments being an extreme minority, still there was one other thing on Adriana's mind.
"Sis, did dad say when he was coming over?" Adriana asked as she glanced over at her older sister, Claudia checked her phone and shook her head.
"No, just that he and mom will be here soon." Claudia responded as she shook her head and Adriana nodded. "If you ask me, you shouldn't have that much to worry about, mom and dad didn't have a problem with us being mutants and I doubt they'll see a problem with you being a lesbian."
"Maybe, but I still can't get that nagging feeling out of my head that I should be prepared for the worst." Adriana admitted as she glanced over at her girlfriend. "Not helped by the fact that Rachel was disowned by her parents when she came out." Adriana added and when Claudia turned to Rachel for confirmation she nodded in response.
"Sorry to hear that Rachel, let's hope the same doesn't happen with Addy." Claudia responded with a sad sigh and the other women in the room nodded in agreement, shortly afterward there was a knock at the door to the apartment and Claudia stood up. "That's probably mom and dad since they live closer to the apartment than Green Arrow, I'll get it, give you time to prepare a response."
"Sure." Adriana nodded as the older of the twin sisters left her room to go answer the door, Adriana tried to block out the sounds coming from the main room but paused when she overheard her dad.
"Where is my beautiful little girl? Where is Addy?" Her dad's overjoyed voice rang out and Adriana felt a lump in her throat before she stood up.
"Sounds like things are going to work out babe." Rachel commented with a grin and Adriana nodded with a huge grin on her face.
"Yeah, sounds like it." Adriana nodded before she left her room and saw her parents standing next to Claudia, after a second of hesitation the younger of the two twins stepped out into the main room and cleared her throat. "You were asking for me?" Adriana asked sheepishly and the twins' parents looked up.
"Addy, I'm so proud of you my child!" Her dad responded before embracing his youngest daughter and once the surprise wore off, she returned it. "Why didn't you come out sooner?"
"Same reason we were reluctant to tell you guys about our mutant powers actually." Adriana admitted as her mom walked up to her. "I was scared of how you would react."
"Don't be silly Addy, you're our daughter, no matter what." Her mother assured her, and Adriana couldn't help but grin when she heard that. "Now, where is this beautiful girlfriend of yours?"
"Right here Mrs. Alverez." Rachel responded as she stepped out of her girlfriend's room and they looked up. "I promise I'll treat Adriana right."
"That is all I ask Rachel." Adriana's dad responded with a big grin on his face, they continued chatting for a while before they left, and Adriana turned to her sister once they were alone.
"Our parents were okay with the fact that we're mutants, so why wouldn't they be okay with me being a lesbian?" Adriana realised as she facepalmed hard and shook her head. "So, in other words, I put myself through that much stress and had an anxiety attack for nothing." Adriana commented as she leaned against the wall. "At what point will the League give me the "moron of the year" award?" Adriana added and Claudia paused before shaking her head.
"I'm fairly sure Turner D. Century has that award secured considering he kidnapped the girlfriend of a mutant so far out of weight class, it's not even funny, then again he's such an incompetent Supervillain that even a small child could beat him." Claudia responded as she walked up to her younger sister. "But even if it hadn't, there's no way you would've won that award anyway, you may be a mutant but your still human and you'll make mistakes like that, just know this Addy, your about as far removed from a moron as you can get."
"Thanks Claudia." Adriana responded with a grin as Green Arrow showed up. "You here for the coming out party Arrow?" Adriana asked once she noticed the older hero who nodded as he stepped into the room.
"You know it." Green Arrow nodded as he entered the room, Adriana grinned when she saw that the older hero was in a good mood. "Just don't search "Lo Divino Lesbian" on Facebook yet, already there's been some former fans of yours burning their merch of yours because you've come out as a lesbian."
"Not usually one to generalize but those fans wouldn't happen to have in the Southern US States, would they?" Adriana asked with a frown and Green Arrow nodded. "Boy, I can't wait for the day a League Assignment takes me to Alabama or Virginia."
"I'm sure J'onn will ensure that it'll be a while before you are sent there," Green Arrow assured her, and Adriana grinned in response. "So, how are you feeling now that you've come out?"
"Honestly? It feels like a massive weight has been lifted from my shoulders." Adriana admitted as she nodded at Green Arrow. "And after seeing all the positive reactions I've had since coming out? It's just reaffirmed that I should've come out sooner, at least I won't have to worry about Turner D. Century for a while."
"I didn't want to bring this up, but I may as well do it now." Green Arrow responded earning confused looks from the twin sisters. "Turner D. Century was just found dead in his holding cell, security cameras confirmed that Target was his murderer, Turner didn't have any powers, right?"
"Yeah, he was a gadget based villain." Claudia nodded as the twin sisters took the news in. "Why do you ask?"
"Because Target filled him with so many holes, you could've played Whack-A-Mole with his chest." Green Arrow explained earning curious looks from the Mexican twins. "Stargirl and S.T.R.I.P.E. are investigating how Target got into the county jail as we speak but to me, it sounds like Target had been sent to send a message, what that message was, I don't know."
"I can think of one person who could have an idea, Kat, Target was the first Supervillain she dealt with who didn't belong to anyone else's Rogues Gallery so if anyone knows him, it's her." Claudia reasoned as she ran a hand through her hair. "Who else is coming to this party anyway?"
"Black Canary would love to come but she's still investigating the whole incident, how Turner knew where your girlfriend lived, where he got the drugs and where he got those thugs from." Green Arrow explained and Adriana nodded. "She said that if you want to join her, all you have to do is ask, we know that Turner was targeting you and your girlfriend so she figured you'd have a bested interest in getting to the bottom of it."
"Maybe tomorrow, still need to deal with the fallout from me coming out as a lesbian." Adriana admitted as she shook her head. "Aside from Canary?"
"Most Justice League members are away on business, but I managed to convince the other members of the ground team that saved your life to come, don't worry, Booster Gold will behave." Green Arrow explained and the twins nodded as they got the idea. "This won't be anything too extravagant, after all the excitement you've had this week, I think you need something a bit more low key."
"No argument from me there." Adriana nodded as she glanced over at Rachel. "Especially after how the week started, at least things can't get any weirder."
"Let's try not to jinx that babe." Rachel responded with a grin as she walked up to her girlfriend. "Then again, we are both in the public eye thanks to our careers so it's not like we're not used to that."
"And if a Supervillain shows up to one of your shoots we'll be there. And we'll try to keep Adriana's mind out of the gutter." Claudia responded with a grin and Adriana gave her older sister a knowing grin.
"Depending on the shoot, it might take Superman to get my mind out of the gutter." Adriana joked getting a laugh out of her companions.
*later that night*
The coming out party had ended hours ago and Adriana was out on the balcony leaning against the railing.
"If only I had come out as gay sooner, who knows how much of the last few days would've been avoided?" Adriana thought with a sigh as she admired the view, she heard footsteps behind her and glanced up seeing her twin sister. "Couldn't get any either?" Adriana asked Claudia as the elder of the twins joined her on the balcony.
"Nah, I was getting a midnight snack when I saw you out here." Claudia responded as she shook her head and Adriana nodded. "So, what's on your mind?"
"Mostly, how much stress I would've avoided by coming out sooner." Adriana nodded with a sigh as she turned to look at her sister. "Kept telling myself that I would come out when I was ready, but this week threw a huge, Turner D. Century shaped spanner in the works, Rachel and her friends knew already obviously and like I said, J'onn found out through our sessions but I was so worked up over nothing."
"As I said the other day, only thing that matters is that your happy, but if we're sharing secrets then I guess I should share mine." Claudia responded and Adriana gave her a curious look. "The day before the argument, I heard a male voice in my head, knowing what we do about the woman residing in yours…"
"You think he's our dad?" Adriana summarized and Claudia nodded. "If you had told me when we went through that portal that we would find out that our real parents live inside our heads, I think I would've gone mad."
"It's definitely been a crazy few weeks." Claudia nodded in agreement before they heard footsteps behind them and saw Rachel approaching. "I'm heading back to bed I think you two need your privacy." Claudia added with a small smile before she returned to her room.
"You feeling okay Addy?" Rachel asked with a concerned look on her face and Adriana nodded. "This has been a hell of a week."
"You can say that again." Adriana nodded before she walked up to and embraced her girlfriend which Rachel returned. "But now that I'm finally out of the closet, we can worry about our future together." Adriana added as she backed away with Rachel's hands around Adriana's hips and Adriana's hands around Rachel's neck. "I don't want to break this embrace."
"You know what?" Rachel asked before leaning in and kissing Adriana passionately, Adriana returned the kiss, and it wasn't long before it escalated into a make out session. "Neither do I." Rachel added with a grin once she broke the kiss.
"That just leaves one question." Adriana responded as she licked her lips. "My room, or yours?"
"Last time we had sex was in yours." Rachel responded before kissing Adriana again and leading her towards the spare room. "And I would suggest the couch, but we'd probably wake up Claudia."
"Your room it is." Adriana responded before they made their way towards the spare room, the last thing they did before retreating into the room was remove their tops and leave them by the door but once they were off the two women started having sex in the spare bedroom.
