Chapter 2: Come to the Tenth Clam Family, We Have Talking Babies

Growing up with the name 'Kamiya Izanami' basically guaranteed my life as a social outcast. It didn't help that my surname had the word "god" in it, Izanami was also known as the Japanese goddess of death, and I was a gloomy kid with long black hair that got everywhere.

Regardless, my childhood wasn't all that bad, spending all my time with my loving mother who, despite working many jobs, made sure to put aside time for me.

It was my dependence on my mother's presence that eventually lead to her death.

"Ah, Kamiya-senpai! Are you heading to school?"

Sawada Tsunayoshi, the boy I would play with as children when my mom dropped me off at the Sawada residence. The boy who refused to call me 'Nee-chan.' The boy who housed all the anomalies of Namimori.

He blinked again. "Kamiya-senpai?"

I sent a teasing smile, ruffling his fluffy hair. "Tsuna~ You're all grown up now, aren't you?~ Not being late to school and all~"

He blinked. "I am late, though."

I froze. "What."

His eyes widened in realization, and he panicked, "HIE, I'm late...!" He turned to me bowing quickly. "Sorry for cutting our conversation short Senpai I have to go!" He ran off.

"What."

I stared at my watch, and sure enough, the bell would ring in two minutes. "WHAT?!"

Running at full speed, a million thoughts rushed through my head.

Why am I late? I got out at the same time as I usually do! I checked the clock in my house multiple times before I left, I shouldn't be so late-!

I stopped my footing, staring at the closed gate and piercing gray eyes belonging to someone I was very familiar with.

My clock broke.

The tea made me sleep in.

Of all days these all just had to happen and now I-!

Hibari Kyoya stared at me, a bloodthirsty look in his eyes. "For being late to school, I'll bite you to death, herbivore."

I laughed awkwardly. "P-please don't Hibari, I'd prefer if you really didn't! Besides, it's my first offense, shouldn't I get off with a warnin-"

His eyes narrowed. "NamiChu students aren't allowed to have jobs."

Fuck.

"Psh... how would you even know that?" His gaze intensified and I put my hands up in surrender. "Okay okay, sorry sorry!" Spotting him preparing his tonfas, I pointed rather rudely at him. "H-hey, aren't NamiChu students not allowed to have weapons?! Y-you're disregarding the rules-!"

His eyes took an amused glint. "The Disciplinary Committee is allowed to use any methods to get students to behave."

What the fuck-?

"Okay, well, you still can't hit me because I'm... I'm a girl!"

There was a silence, and one could say even a crow was heard. Then in one moment, a tonfa was aimed for my face and my body just reacted.

I blinked at the realization that I had just dodged his swing. It seemed even Hibari didn't expect my reaction, because his face remained close to mine, his brows creased in annoyance. And then he smirked. "So you were a carnivore."

My face immediately exploded in red, my hormones deciding now was a very good time to note just how good-looking this stupid asshole was and how pretty the color of his eyes were and- SHIT!

I dodged the second swing, and I backpedaled a few feet to create some distance between us. Hibari was not amused. "Fight."

"N-no thank you! ...Please leave me alone." I mumbled the last part.

And as if Hibari Kyoya speaking more than his catchphrase wasn't weird enough, what happened next was even weirder: the infamous baby in a suit dropped from the sky(?) and landed on Hibari's shoulder. And he spoke in a very coherent sentence, "Don't fight with her yet, Hibari. If you fight her later, she'll definitely be worth your time."

Even crazier was that Hibari Kyoya, the stubborn prideful asshole, agreed! His eyes narrowed at me. "Hn. Don't think I'll fall for your deception, carnivore." And he left.

What about this situation can get even weirder?!

"Izanami Sanguigno. So you were a natural-born hitman, after all."

I jinxed it.

Sitting in front of the baby drinking coffee, I couldn't help but sit upright and just overall feel very uncomfortable about the entire situation. The toddler was able to speak way too eloquent for his age, and he knew Italian to top it off? Better yet, he accused me of being a "natural-born hitman," whatever that was, and he knew my name and gave me some random ass last name?!

It still weirded me out that his presence alone had cleared my lateness with my principal, which made no sense to me considering it was unheard of for an old man to answer to a two year old.

I felt my body react again, and stared at the gigantic mallet that would've hit me. I flipped my head towards him, Reborn he introduced himself as, in indignation. "That would've hurt if you hit me, you know!"

"You were spacing out."

"That doesn't give you an excuse to hit me!" Feeling more courageous, I slammed my palms onto the desk in front of me. "Who are you, anyway?! Why did you attach some random Italian last name to me as if I identified with it?! My last name is Kamiya, you know!"

He sipped his coffee, the mallet transforming into a chameleon(?). He then stared at me with knowing eyes. It couldn't have been possible, but it was as if he was older, which made no sense given his appearance. "Who taught you Italian?"

I frowned. "Why is that-?" He continued to stare, and I averted my eyes. "My mom."

He nodded. "So she knew after all. Kamiya Hiromi." He sipped his coffee again, and I just stared at the enigma that was Reborn. He knew my mom's name... does that mean...? "Well, it's not my business what he does with his personal life."

My eyes widened. "Do you know my-"

"Izanami Sanguigno. I brought you here to invite you to the Vongola Decimo's famiglia."

"Clam tenth family...? What even is that?" I shook my head. "Anyway, whatever that is, sorry. I'm really busy as is trying to manage both my part-time job and school, so please leave me be. It's enough that I'm always trying to avoid the Sawada family these days with what trouble they attract and–" My eyes widened. "Shit, I didn't mean to say that, please act like you didn't-"

He smirked. "So you knew. That your neighbor's going to be the next leader of the mafia underworld."

"Mafia? Not only is the idiot in the mafia, he's leading them too?!" I smiled anxiously. "Look, I don't know what you're trying to play with me here. I did say to disregard what I said, but I don't want to get involved with whatever game you're playing-"

"Looks like you two are more similar than I thought. That's what Yamamoto said too."

...What?

Reborn set down his coffee and started to leave. "I did tell Hibari that you would be more interesting to fight with once I was done with you, so don't think I've given up on recruiting you yet, Izanami." He tipped his fedora. "Now that we've officially made contact, you're going to join Tsuna's family, no matter what he thinks about it. Ciao ciao!"

Looks like my hard work of steering clear of all anomalies is down the drain.
