Chapter 3: Is That Your (BoY)friend?
Namimori really is a strange town. Why did my mom decide to settle down here in the first place?
"Kamiya, order for table 2 is up!"
"Osu!" Well, I can think about that later. Time for work! Grabbing the sushi, I placed it onto the correct table with a smile. "Please enjoy your meal! Is there anything else I can do for you?"
At the lack of a response, I found myself examining the customer's features further, only to realize he was... a foreigner?
The man looked confused overall, and stared at me puzzled. "Where is the man who seated me?"
I blinked. Italian…? That must mean he's Oji-san's guest. I smiled again. "I apologize, but I am unsure where he is at the moment. For the time being, I can be of service to you, sir. This is your meal, which I presume he has ordered for you. I'll go ask for him right now."
The man looked surprised, but simply beamed back. "Thank you, miss."
I bowed and excused myself, starting to return to the kitchen but was instead met with Takeshi, who seemed both impressed and confused. "Nee-chan, I didn't know you could speak Italian like Oyaji!"
My coworker bumped my shoulder. "Kamiya's really handy when Boss brings over foreign customers, ya know! I'm surprised you just found out about this, Takeshi!"
Takeshi blinked, while I glared at her. "Hey, Oji-san said not to tell Takeshi about his guests, remember?"
Her eyes widened, and she smiled awkwardly. "I-I'm needed in the kitchen haha be right back!"
"What does she mean, Nee-chan? You mean Oyaji's the one that brings the foreigners all the time?" Takeshi wore a frown. "Why didn't I know about this before?"
"Sorry, Takeshi." I pat his head, offering him a smile. "Even I don't know the details myself. It's probably for good reason though, knowing him. Just trust in him, will you?"
His eyebrows creased to form a frown, and he seemed exasperated. "I do trust him, but I just don't get why…"
"Sorry about that, Nami-chan! I can't have you always covering for me like that whenever I bring in my clients, I'm always grateful for your help-!" Tsuyoshi-san stared at the two of us, blinking, and smiled awkwardly at Takeshi. "You're home, Takeshi? I thought you had practice today!"
"Oyaji…" Takeshi just shot him a grin. "It got cancelled today! I'm going to go wash up." The two of us watched him go inside, and I simply stared at Tsuyoshi-san in confusion.
"Why do you keep your clients a secret from him, Oji-san?"
Tsuyoshi-san simply smiled at me, ruffling my hair. "It's a long story, Nami-chan." His smile widened into a grin. "So, how was the tea I bought for you yesterday? Did it work?"
I rolled my eyes, shoving his hand off. "Efficient... in making me sleep! I overslept today, you know?! I almost died by the hands of Hibari…" I shivered at the thought. And then I remembered the conversation I had with the baby this morning.
"Looks like you two are more similar than I thought. That's what Yamamoto said too."
The baby mentioned Takeshi was involved in whatever the clam ten family was... Could it be Tsuna forced him to join or something?!
…That Tsuna? Force Takeshi?
It was more likely the baby's doing, wasn't it?
…Does that mean the baby's forcing Tsuna to join this ridiculous game?!
That doesn't make any sense either!
Agh I'm so confused…!
"Oh? And who's this 'Hibari' you speak of, Nami-chan? Is he your boyfriend?~" Tsuyoshi-san waggled his eyebrows.
All thoughts of the baby disappeared, with my eyes widening in terror. "Are you kidding me? Not even in my nightmares! There's no way that bastard can actually feel a physical attraction to someone with his constant mentions of 'herbivores' and 'carnivores' or his constant desire for blood-!"
Tsuyoshi-san waved me off. "Sure, sure, I'll just wait till you guys get together or something. I'm going to my client, now!~"
"Oji-san!" I huffed, crossing my arms. "Honestly, if that guy's personality was even a little bit better then maybe I'd consider it…"
All of a sudden I started to reminisce about his pretty stormy gray eyes, his chiseled chin, his bloodthirsty grin-
Damn it, stop thinking about the bastard and just go do your work Nami, go!
Hearing someone call for me, I went back into work mode, flashing my business smile. "Good evening, welcome to Takesushi, how may I help you?"
"Takeshi! Walk Nami-chan home, will you?"
I smiled awkwardly, adjusting the hold on my bag. "Oh you don't have to do that, I can walk fine on my own-"
Tsuyoshi-san frowned at me. "No can do, Nami-chan! Where's that boyfriend of yours when you need him, huh?"
"For the last time Oji-san, he's not my boyfriend!" But he is the reason why I don't have to worry about safety in this town, since he literally gets rid of all possible threats anyway-!
"Either way, it's just not safe. Takeshi!"
The teen appeared, pulling on a hoodie as he entered the restaurant. "I heard you, Oyaji." He then grinned at me. "Let's go, Nee-chan."
I sighed. Really, these Yamamotos... I smiled in defeat. "Thank you, Oji-san. See you tomorrow!"
Leaving Takesushi and onto the nicely-lit streets of Namimori, I walked next to Takeshi, who had shoved his hands into his hoodie pocket and seemed to be staring at the passing houses and buildings.
"Say, Takeshi."
"Yeah?"
"Is Tsuna... is Tsuna a good friend to you?"
He turned to me in confusion. "What's with that all of a sudden?"
"Just answer the question."
Placing his hands behind his back, he smiled. "Is Tsuna a good friend… I'd say Tsuna's a really important friend to me, Nee-chan. I feel like everyday's more fun the more time I spend with him. Same goes with Gokudera, Sasagawa-san, Sasagawa-senpai and everyone else too! Tsuna just attracts fun people, you know?"
"Huh... I see. That's good." I smiled too, wrapping my arm around Takeshi's neck into a semi-chokehold. "Good to know my dear little brother is surrounded by good friends!~" As he struggled to get out of my chokehold, I grinned deviously. "This 'Sasagawa-san' is Sasagawa Kyoko, the first year school idol, right?~ What's going on between the two of you? Are you dating?~~"
"N-Nee-chan-! It's not like that, we're just frie-Ow-let go-"
"Hmm?~ I can't hear you what was that?~"
"Agh, Nee-chan!" he whined. I let go of him, and he rubbed his neck with a pout. "When are you going to stop treating me like a kid… I'm 14 now, you know!"
I wrinkled my nose. "You're still a baby in my eyes."
Takeshi stopped, and that's when I realized I was at my house. Wow. That was fast. Time flies when you're having fun, huh?
I ruffled his hair, having to tippy-toe to do it. "Thanks for being a gentleman and dropping me off, Takeshi! Even if Oji-san made you."
He rolled his eyes. "Yeah yeah."
I smiled. "You grew. Though you're still a baby."
He pushed my hand away and started to walk off. "I'm leaving!"
I laughed. "Thanks again, Takeshi!"
When I went to sleep that night, I was able to sleep a little easier, now with the knowledge that Takeshi had finally found a place he belonged in.
So maybe I did owe that baby a favor. But that didn't mean I was going to join in on the game too!
