The Dark Crystal: Dragon Riders of Thra
Prologue: Another World, Another Time
Another World, another time, in an age of Wonder.
Thra. A wondrous planet circling three suns, and at the planet's centre, lies the Crystal of Truth, the Heart of Thra and the source of all life, and it's power was beyond imaginable.
Since the times when Thra's lands were young, Mother Aughra, the living embodiment of Thra herself, protected the Crystal, for she knew the Crystal connected to all the creatures of Thra, both great and small, from the fuzzy and wild Fizzgig to the noble Landstriders, the optimistic yet oddly bubbly Podlings to the gentle giant Nurlocs, but the closest to her heart, were the Gelfling.
7 clans of Gelfling made Thra their home, from the proud Vapra, who lived in the mountain city of Ha'rar, the most cultured of the Gelfling who ruled over the other clans, the brave Stonewood who dwelled in the deep Endless Forests of Thra, known for their bravery and prowles in battle, to the gentle Grottan who lived deep underground below the earth, in perfect harmony with all of Thra and her creatures, all but nearly forgotten by the world above.
For many trine, all of Thra lived in perfect balance of peace and harmony… but then, new beings came… not from Thra.
Then one fateful day, the Crystal cracked and a single piece was lost to Thra, and two new beings emerged, the peaceful Mystics, and the sinister Skeksis.
The Skeksis bewitched Aughra with stories of the universe, and in exchange for the Crystal, built her orrery so that she may learn the mysteries of the cosmos for herself, and so, Aughra turned her eye to the stars and entrusted the Crystal of Truth to the Skeksis.
But soon after, other creatures appeared, who, like the Gelfling, were closest to Thra: Dragons.
The wild and vicious creatures, having too emerged from below the earths of Thra from the Hidden World of the dragons, struck down from above, attacking the lands of Thra, the residence believing they had came to claim the Crystal, as Dragons had been known for hoarding treasures, believing the Crystal of Truth to be the rarest of all to gain and rein over the world, while being one of the few races of Thra to deny the Skeksis' rule, alongside other races such as the Makraks and the Arathim.
This had the Skeksis declare war on the Dragons, joining with the Gelflings, and forming together the Alliance of the Crystal, as the Gelfling offered protection for the Skeksis.
A war with the different races that still continues to this very day…
Stone-in-the-Wood, Endless Forest
The Endless Forest, as it's namesake goes, is a large land filled to the brim with trees and various planet life, while aside from the flora and fauna, as well as the creatures that dwell in the forests, including Fizzgigs, Glow Moss, Gobbles and Nebries, the primary inhabitants that live there are the Podlings and the Gelfling.
The Gelfling, however, had constant spats and opinions with the other clans, the Stonewood Clan were usually on good terms with the Vapra Clan, and occasionally traded with the Spriton Clan, as their capital of Sami Thicket respectfully resided in the very woods as the Stonewood did, not far off Stone-in-the-Wood. But they were deeply suspicious of the spiritual beliefs of the Spriton Clan, while largely ignorant of the Grotton Clan.
The Stonewood that lived in Stone-in-the-Wood have been known for many things, these included the skills in battle, weaponry and cobbling, led by the Maudra, a female Gelfling who are tasked with governing the clan she is apart of, as well as representing them before the Skeksis.
The residents of Stone-in-the-Wood lived in the woods peacefully, be it in the trees or up in tree houses, with bridges and ladders for means of traveling up and down the tree and across to other tree homes, while most lived in burrows.
Unfortunately, the peace wouldn't last, as like the other Gelfling clans, the Stonewood Clan had an unfortunate dragon problem, as for the some time over the last few trines, dragons had been invading the lands of Thra, attacking the villages, stealing food and crops and killing anyone who would get in their way.
Being known for forging weapons, the Stonewood had a fighting chance of defending their home.
"Concentrate your fire on the dragons diving down!" cried out the Captain of the Stonewood Clan, Stoick the Vast, a proud and noble Gelfing with a large bushy beard, he was also known for his rank as Captain of the Castle Guards, who work in protecting the Skeksis and the Castle of the Crystal, as the noble oath is that they protect the Lords, and the Lords protect the Crystal.
"We have to protect our home!" Stoick ordered his troops, as the Gelfling continued their attack on the dragons, before heading to the blacksmiths, runned by his good friend, Gobber, a Gelfling who had lost an arm and leg, and had to wear prosthetic ones to replace them.
"Gobber," he asked, "are the new swords ready?"
"Ready as they'll ever be, Stoick." Gobber said, handing one of them to Stoick.
"Good," the Captain said, "be sure to help out on the catapults and bollards when you get a chance, hopefully the dragons' raid will be over before they get halfway through, and-"
Stoick's words were cut short as he heard someone call out to him, just a little differently, "Dad! Wait up!"
Stoick turned around, and saw a bright young Gelfling with brown hair, in his 20s with a prosthetic left foot, readying with him a sword and a shield of his own, though Stoick sadly groaned a sigh when seeing him.
"Hiccup… What are you doing?" he asked.
"I'm here to help out on the dragon raids." Hiccup explained, "I need to make my mark, after all."
"Oh, you make plenty of marks," Gobber said, "all in the wrong places."
"Not now, Hiccup," said Stoick, "I need you to stay and help Gobber at the forge."
"Please, just give me two minutes, five even, I'll kill a dragon, my life will get infinitely better… I might even get a date." Hiccup begged.
Stoick sighed a little before Gobber spoke, "Hiccup, how about you help me out here a little, please?"
Hiccup sighed at this, before nodding, "Sure."
Gobber turned to Stoick as he said, "I'll try and talk to him, Stoick."
Stoick nodded before heading off to help the other soldiers.
Once he left, Gobber turned to Hiccup, who was feeling a little down.
"Hiccup, I know you want to help out," Gobber spoke, "but you know how your father is, it's part of his job to worry, and I know he cares about you."
"If he does, it seems like an odd way of showing it." Hiccup said, "I just want to help out, be a true warrior, to serve the Lords of the Crystal, protect our home and fight a dragon."
"I know, but there are few flaws in this," Gobber explained, "while warriors don't freeze up in the heat of battle, you do, especially if a dragon or even an arathim came straight up to your face, you can't lift a hammer, or an axe, I don't think you can lift a strong sword," he then lifted up some bolas, adding, "let alone one of these."
And just as he held them, one of the Gelfling snatched them just as he used them to throw at one of the dragons, known as a Gronckle.
"Okay, I see your point," Hiccup stated, before pulling out the shield he had, "luckily, I have something like this."
"To protect, no doubt," Gobber said, skeptic on the shield, "though you'll need something to fight with as well."
"Well, Gobber, this is no ordinary shield," said Hiccup with a grin, until the centre hub of the shield opened up, revealing a tractable hook and cable, which fired like a grappling line. It wrapped around Gobber and tried to pull him in, only for the lack of Hiccup's strength and Gobber's weight causing the young Gelfling to get reeled into Gobber, dropping his sword.
The two remained silent and awkwardly looked at each other, before Gobber broke the silence, "Handy."
"I just thought that if I could use this, it will help make taking down dragons easier." Hiccup explained, as he retracted the line back into the shield.
Gobber sighed, "I know you want to help, and you want to make your father proud, Hiccup. But if you want to get out there and fight dragons, you'll need to stop all…" Gobber raised his hands a little, then traced them around Hiccup, "...This."
Hiccup absorbed the information, before objecting, "You just pointed to all of me."
"Exactly," Gobber nodded, "stop being all of you."
"Oooh." Hiccup said, mockingly, a little bit, seeing what Gobber ment.
"Oooh, yes." Gobber replied back.
"You, sir, are playing a very dangerous game," Hiccup said, doing his best warning he could do, "keeping all this raw Gelfling heroism contained. Know this, Gobber, there will be consequences!"
"I'll take my chances." Gobber stated monotone and quickly, before he took Hiccup's shield and put it to one side, then gave Hiccup another sword, ordering, "Shield, down. sword, sharpened, now."
Hiccup sighed, seeing the conversation end like this, then decided to do what he was told and went to work, after all, he had been helping Gobber, being an apprentice of his Blacksmith shop at Stone-in-the-Wood ever since he was a very young Gelfling.
But he wished that one day, he could be a true warrior, and even perhaps be a Guard to the Castle of the Crystal, to aid in watching over and protecting the Skeksis and the Crystal of Truth that resides there.
He even hoped that, perhaps, he would make his father proud, in becoming the next in line to be Captain of the Guard, even if it means to take down and even perhaps kill a dragon.
He knew many types of dragons there were, and he had many scenarios of what would happen if he chose which one to take for example: a Deadly Nadder could at least make him noticed if he sliced of it's head. A Gronkle would be tough, taking down one of them would definitely get him a girlfriend. If he could bring down a Hideous Zippleback, due to its two heads, it would be twice the status. There was also the Crimson Goregutter, the Snaptrapper, the Grapple Grounder and even a Rumblehorn, either of those dragons would be enough to make his father proud, perhaps, even the Maudra as well.
Then came the Monstrous Nightmare and the Skrill, only the best warriors of any Gelfling clan can go after those, especially of their nasty habits of setting themselves on fire and conjuring up lightning respectfully.
But if he was to bring honour to the Stonewood clan, become noticed and respected by the Skeksis, get noticed by the girls and make his father all the proud, he would focus on the ultimate prize. The mysterious dragon of them all, a legend that not a lot of info could be found in any dragon books: the Night Fury. it was mysterious as it was dangerous, for some rumors say that it never steals food, never shows itself and most importantly: it never misses it's target.
No Gelfling from any clan had any luck taking down a Night Fury, and they were very rare to find and encounter, so Hiccup knew that if he were to find one, he would be the first Gelfling in all of Thra to encounter such a creature.
Just then, Gobber's voice snapped him back to attention, "Mind the fort, Hiccup! They need me out there!"
Hiccup looked to see Gobber, changing his prosthetic arm with an axe, getting ready to head off to join the fight.
As he was heading out, Gobber turned to Hiccup and spoke to him, "Stay. Put. Here… you know what I mean."
Soon, Gobber charged off, leaving the forge, as Hiccup knew that now was his chance, while everyone was still busy, fighting the dragons and putting out the fires, Hiccup grabbed his shield and rushed out to join in.
Meanwhile, Stoick and most of the soldiers were getting the upper hand, as they used several nets to trap two Nadders that were pilgering for food.
"Mind youselfs!" Stoick cried out, grabbing hold of one of the Nadders who had let out a bit of fire, then he grabbed hold the muzzle shut to prevent more fire from coming out, "these devils still have some juice left in them.
Back with Hiccup, he was monitoring the village, searching everywhere to find a dragon that could come nearby, readying his shield to fire another tractable grappling line.
He then remembered what happened with Gobber, then decided to grab hold of a strong branch nearby and perched on it, looking for any dragons that may come.
Until, finally, a Monsterous Nightmare flew by, and was about to fly above where Hiccup was.
Readying himself, Hiccup kept his eye on the target… then fired!
The grappling line shot out from the shield, then the hook caught itself onto the Monsterous Nightmare's left foot, in a second, Hiccup buried the shield into the space of two thick branches of the main branch, making sure that it was secured within and wouldn't break off.
The dragon did not notice until it felt something tugging it, like it got caught in a tug-o-war, Hiccup smiled at what was happening and smiled.
"Yes! Excellent!" Hiccup cheered.
However, Murphy's law began to take hold, as the Nightmare began to pull harder and harder to escape, flying hard that the shield began to slowly get pulled out, causing Hiccup to realize what was happening and instantly grab hold of the shield, only for it to be too late, as the shield was pulled out of the branches, with Hiccup holding on for dear life, as the dragon continued flying, the the Gelfling still on the shield as he cried, "No longer excellent!"
As the dragon continued to fly, Hiccup and his shield were dragged on the ground, crashing into carts, stools and other Gelfling that were unfortunate to get their way.
The Nightmare soon looked down, realizing that it was caught by a foolish Gelfling, then shot a small bit of flames to burn the rope, causing Hiccup to lose connection with the once caught dragon, and tumbled across the ground before stopping.
As Hiccup got up from the tumble, he looked up and noticed the Nightmare as it landed not far from him, crushing his shield when it landed, as it didn't look very happy to have been caught.
Hiccup gave a nervous smile and waved as he said, "Hey there."
The dragon still didn't look pleased as it growled then charged after Hiccup, as the young Gelfling let out a scream, which Stoick heard and saw Hiccup running by being chased by the dragon that was attacking.
"Not again…" he grumbled, before running after them while calling back to the others keeping hold of the caught Nadders, "Do not let them escape!"
Hiccup, meanwhile, continued to run as his legs could carry, escaping and avoiding getting fried by the Monstrous Nightmare, until he finally hid behind one of the beams which helped keep up one of the bridges above where the treehouses were.
A burst of lava-like flames spewed from behind, Hiccup nervously looking to see where the dragon was, only for it to be behind him, ready to strike while he wasn't looking.
Just then, Stoick launched himself at the beast, wrestling and grabbing it by the head, causing the dragon to draw it's attention to Stoick.
While Stoick made his stand, the dragon prepared to attack again… only to spit out a little bit of flames, causing it to whimper that it wasted all it's firepower on the one, scrawny Gelfling.
"You're all out." Stoick smirked, before giving the monster a few good punches and kicks to it's head, causing the dragon to fly away.
Stoick soon turned back to the beam, only, due to the Nightmare's flames, broke and fell down, crashing to the ground near where the trapped Nadders were, as the Gelfling keeping an eye on them ran away from being crushed, while the Nadders used it to their advantage, cut through the nets with the fire and flew off, joining the other dragons that had finished their raid.
The Beam crashing down revealed Hiccup on the other side for Stoick to see, as the father was definitely not happy, and Hiccup was looking nervous at his father.
When witnessing the dragons departing, Hiccup looked to see many angry stares from the other Gelfling alongside his father, before he sighed sadly at the mess he made… again, "Sorry… dad."
Stoick approached the young lad, as Hiccup looked nervous and akward, before trying to break the subject, "Still… I managed to get a dragon."
At an instant, Stoick grabbed Hiccup and immediately dragged him away.
"Okay, okay, I screwed up, I know," Hiccup spoke, trying to get his attention, "I really nearly got a dragon. Sure, it escaped, but still, it counts for something. Once I fix up the shield, I can try and-"
"STOP!" Stoick interrupted, as both father and son stopped in their tracks, with Hiccup stiff as a board from his father's booming voice as he began to calm down a little before scolding, "Just… stop. Every time you step outside and try to help, disaster falls! Can't you see we have bigger problems? Winter will soon be here, and not only do we not have enough for the next Tithing ceremony, we will need to find a way to get more food to feed an entire village!"
"Well, between you and me, either us or the Skeksis could do a little less feeding, don't you think?" Hiccup said with dry humor.
This sort of thing made him not quite popular, even if the joke got most of Gelfling, both male and female, to look at their guts and tried to suck them in.
"This isn't a joke, Hiccup." Stoick said, before sighing, "Why can't you do as you're told?"
"I can't help it, dad," Hiccup explained, "I just want to help, be a part of something big. Be part of Thra's legacy in the next trines ahead. If I'd ever see a dragon, I have to fight it and then, just, kill it, you know?"
"Oh dear," Stoick sighed, as he looked to Hiccup and spoke in a disappointed and quiet tone, "You are many things, Hiccup, but I don't know if a dragon killer is one of them. I know you want to do what you can to prove you'd be ready to take my mantle as Captain, but I'm sorry that now is not the time."
This earned a saddened silence between father and son, as Hiccup lowered his head in shame and disappointment to both himself and his dad.
"Now, get back to the house." Stoick said to Hiccup, before speaking up to Gobber "Make sure he gets there. I have this mess to clean up… again."
Gobber gave Hiccup a pad on the shoulder, as he lead him back to Hiccup's house, while Stoick was left with the others to clean up the wreckage, though as he left, Hiccup could hear many complaints and disappointing scowls from the other Gelflings as most of them talked to Stoick.
"Hey, Hiccup!" another voice came out, getting Hiccup's attention, as he looked to see another Gelfling at his age with hair like his, only grey, carrying what was his shield, now crushed after the Monstrous Nightmare stepped on it.
Along with the Gelfling was a fuzzy little creature, looking like a ball of fur with little paws and a tail, rolling along side the Gelfling, the creature was known as a Fizzgig, who had dog-like behaviours, small paws and mouths as big as their bodies, filled with multiple rows of teeth.
"Oh, hey there, Dogsbreath." Hiccup said with a half smile, still a little down as he and Gobber continued their way, Zathin joining them.
"Here's your shield back." Dogsbreath said, handing Hiccup the shield, but Hiccup looked to and sadly shrugged.
"I don't think I'll need it anymore." Hiccup sighed.
"Well, I saw what happened," Dogsbreath said, "and I think, despite the outcome, it worked quite well, pretty good work."
"Thanks," Hiccup shrugged, "at least someone actually liked my invention. I don't know if I'll ever get dad impressed with what I do."
"Oh, don't take it to heart too much, Hiccup." Gobber said, joining the conversation, "It's his job to be tough on everyone."
"I'm not everyone!" Hiccup said, before letting out a sigh, "Bu-but it doesn't matter. The guy is impossible to please."
Gobber patted him on the shoulder, as he said, "He just doesn't appear to be playing favourites."
"He's covered in that department, believe me," Hiccup said to Gobber, "if I didn't live in the same house with him, I wouldn't even know my own father."
"Did you ever…?" Dogsbreath began to ask Hiccup, trying to say if Hiccup said something like this to his father.
"Oh, no, of course not." Hiccup replied, "He never listens, let alone make eye contact. And when he does, it's always this disappointed scowl, like he got cheated or someone skimped on the meat of his sandwich."
Hiccup then began to impersonate his own father as he said, "Excuse me, barmaid. I'm afraid you brought me the wrong offspring. I ordered a large boy with beefy arms, extra guts and glory on the side. This here, this is a talking fishbone!"
Dogsbreath chuckled lightly, "That-that's a good impression."
Gobber chuckled a little too, before saying, "Yeah… though still, Hiccup, you're thinking about this all wrong. It's not so much what you look like, it's what's inside that he can't stand."
Hiccup saw silent on hearing this, before gloomingly saying, "Thank you for summing that up."
"The point is, stop trying hard to be something you're not." Gobber tried to explain.
"I know," Hiccup sadly replied, "I just want to be like you guys… like my father…"
"I suppose it's true," Dogsbreath spoke up, "I mean, we've all heard about Stoick the Vast. Stoick the Spitter-Slayer. Stoick the Dragon Dreader."
"Stoick the Mighty." Hiccup added, as he and Dogsbreath let out a good laugh.
"I think it would be good to hear a few stories about his son. Don't you agree, Fizzy?" Dogsbreath said, asking his Fizzgig, named Fizzy, who replied with a bark, before looking to Hiccup with concern, "Still though, from what you said, it's best not to say something like that about the Lords."
"I know." Hiccup nodded.
"The Skeksis have been looking after us for many trine, even before we were born." Dogsbreath explained, "They helped in protecting the Crystal of Truth while Aughra went away, creating the Alliance of the Crystal with us and the other Gelfling clans too."
Hiccup thought a little bit on that and then replied, "I suppose that's true."
Dogsbreath nodded, "And I'm sure that, one day, what you'll do will do great things for Thra, and for the Lord's themselves."
Hiccup nodded, before looking far out to the distant, where far from the Endless Forests lied the Castle of the Crystal, hoping with all his heart, he would prove himself to his father, his clan and the Skeksis themselves that he can be something that will change the course of Thra's history.
'One day.' he thought to himself, as he and the others were nearing his house.
The Castle of the Crystal, Crystal Chamber
The Castle of the Crystal, also known as the Crystal Palace at times, was where the Crystal of Truth was housed after the castle's creation.
It was said that the castle, inside and out, had a crystalline structure, as it shined across the lands of Thra for all to see and visit.
But as time went by, the castle began to lose its crystalline structure, taking on a dark hue, covered in a stone-like substance on the surface of the castle. It was here that the Skeksis also resided here, where they took charge on watching over Thra, and both Gelflings and Podlings were assumed work at the castle, the former working as guards and the latter performing the vast majority of the domestic work, serving as cooks, servants, musicians, animal handlers and more.
While the residents of Thra saw the Skeksis as kind, compassionate and generous… a dark secret lied within the heart of the castle.
Inside, located in the Crystal Chamber, as befitting its name, hovering over a shaft of air and fire, the Crystal of Truth laid dormat, however, upon the Skeksis rule, the Crystal grew sick, it's crystal shine turning purple, as if something was definitely wrong with it.
The chamber remained empty and quiet, until several figures appeared, gathering around the Crystal: the Skeksis.
A thousand trine had passed since the Skeksis declared themselves Lords of the Crystal, and Rulers of Thra.
Upon all 8 of the 12 Skeksis had gathered around the Crystal, they position themselves as the three hatches above on the ceiling open up, revealing the three suns that orbit the planet, in perfect sync with each hatch.
Now, once more, the Skeksis gather in secret, as another day dawns, to steal life from the Crystal they were sworn to protect.
Soon the beams of light from the suns shine down onto the Crystal in the chamber, as several purple beams of light shine onto the Skeksis, as they feel the energies flowing through them through their eyes.
So that they may replenish themselves, cheat death again, by harnessing the power of their treasure, their fate, their prize… their prisoner, the Dark Crystal.
Moments later, the energies from the Crystal disappear, as the Skeksis look a little relieved, but some also disappointed.
"Bah! The Crystal fails us once again." one of the Skeksis spoke, the gruff voiced General, SkekVar, looking annoyed, as well as disappointed.
"Well, what did you expect?" another spoke up, SkekLach the Collector, who looked liked a very sick Skeksis, with horrible warts and a runny nose to add, "Nothing yesterday, nothing the day before…"
"Why?" the Scroll-Keeper, SkekOk, asked worriedly, "Why does this happen?"
"Just look at the Crystal," a pudgy Skeksis, known as SkekAyuk the Gourmand said, pointing to the Crystal, "it's taking too much toil. It's gluttony. Pure gluttony!"
"Paphectic!" shouted one Skeksis, getting the attention of the others as they looked to him, for this was the Emperor SkekSo, a ruthless leader of the Skeksis race, who had a metal mask that covered the tips of his beak, "Look at you! You sound like frightened Podlings!"
"But Emperor," SkekZok the Ritual Master spoke, getting the Emperor's attention, "if the Crystal will not give, we will die!"
Hearing this, the other Skeksis began to worry even more, until SkekSo brought his sceptre, as its clang rang throughout the Chamber as the Emperor cried, "NEVER!"
SkekSo soon calmed a little, as he said with a keen voice, "We have nothing to fear. The solution lies within the Scientist's very grasp. Is that right?"
SkekSo said this as he turned to the scientific Skeksis of the group, SkekTech, as the Scientist looked around the group nervously, before conjuring up the guts to speak, "Our wise Emperor speaks true. I have been hard at work, and closer to finding the answer to this intriguing problem."
This seemingly worked, as it left the other Skeksis intrigued.
"Patients, my friends," SkekSo said, with dark determination, "for we are Lords of the Crystal. We have ruled over for all ages and will rule for ages yet to come. We… are… ETERNAL!"
"ETERNAL!" Cried the other Skeksis proudly.
"Now, go." SkekSo ordered, as the other Skeksis returned to their duties.
As the Emperor began to leave, SkekTech spoke up.
"Emperor!" he cried, "Emperor!"
"Yes, what is it?" SkekSo asked, turning to the Scientist.
"I… uh, don;t want to question your greatness, but you must know that i have found a solution." SkekTech replied, gaining the Emperor's curiousity.
"The Crystal is the Heart of Thra. They are one of the same." SkekTech explained, "But the more we take, the less it gives. All our survival is at stake!"
The Emperor soon grabbed hold of a startled SkekTech by his shoulder, bringing him closer as SkekSo said through fearsome gritted teeth, "So find a solution!"
"Of course, Emperor." SkekTech trembled, "Forgive me."
SkekSo released him, before sighing angrily, "I did not build an empire, only to watch it turn to dust!"
As the Emperor turned to leave, SkekTech cried out, "I will find the answer! You will see, I will not fail you! I WILL NOT FAIL YOU!"
Unaware to both of them, one Skeksis was listening and overheard the whole conversation, a sly, silvertongue Skeksis, known as SkekSil the Chamberlain, a Skeksis who has been known for his endless whimpering, much to the annoyance of the other Skeksis (mainly SkekVar and SkekUng). He was also the Chief Secretary of State, making him the next in line for the throne. One thing about him was his sly, cunning, ambitious and manipulative personality, as he would do whatever he can to keep hold of his position and avoid being punished. Upon hearing what SkekSo and SkekTech were talking about, he whimpered with interest as he began to walk away, having thoughts in hand of this situation to use in his advantages.
Meanwhile, SkekTech activated a lever, which broguht up two creepy mechanicle arms to grab hold of the Crystal, as it went down the hole it orbited over, metal chains soon wrapped around the top and bottom parts of the Crystal as it continued downward into a new chamber.
The Gelfling know nothing of the Skeksis's crimes. The truth must come to light, the flames of resistance must be lit, a bond will change the world and a new age shall begin.
The Crystal of Truth soon arrives into a new chamber, where it housed many creatures of Thra, from the smallest to medium sized species, to the harmless and even vicious, as well as few dragons as well that were caged there, from mainly several Terrible Terrors, Scuttleclaws, Hobgobblers, a Hotburple, few Gronkles, Speed Stingers and others.
Upon the Crystal's arrival, the creautures and dragons begin to grow restless, aggressive and feral.
The Crystal of Truth has been corrupted, and that corruption spreads through Thra and into it's creatures, as well as the Dragons, even those locked away in the castle chambers, imprisoned… until today.
As several of the species and dragons rattle around in their cells and cages, and the prison cell begins to slowly break, as a roar of one dragon grows loud, as the dragon has become very restless, until finally the cage cell breaks open, and the dragon reveals itself.
The dragon was jet black with lighter spots and had several features, such as green cat-like eyes, ear-like appendages, secondary wings and tail fins.
This creature was known as the Night Fury, the rarest dragon known to all of Thra, having been captured somehow, it finally had enough imprisonment, and rushed out of the chamber, exploring the castle before finally seeing a balcony window.
Without hesitation, it rushed to the balcony window, jumped out and flew away from the castle, letting out a roar to let all of Thra know that it was finally free…
Author's Notes:
Here go, folks, here's a crossover you never expected to see! HtTYD with The Dark Crystal, two of my fav franchises come together!
It was something I've been thinking about for quite some time, and I'm quite proud to show to you all an alternate universe no has done yet, with Gelfling versions of our favourite HtTYD characters, especially Gelfling versions of our fav couple (I pretty well believe Hiccup as a Stonewood Gelfling while Astrid being a Vapra Gelfling).
I hope you all enjoy what's to come in this story.
Until next time, True Believers!
Excelsior!
